HTC ONE X wi-fi issue ( please read ) - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi guys, I have sent my phone off for repair to HTC as i have had WI-FI issues basically since I bought the phone last year, the wi-fi disconnects at weaker areas, whereas the other phones i have tested work fine..I have only recently realised that thi was a manufacturing issue after reading reviews online. So I have decided to send the phone off for repair, a week later (today) I get a quotation from HTC of £187! Bear in mind I still have warranty on my phone..HTC initially did not state the reason why I have received the charge, they just claimed that the work required was caused by the damage that isn't covered by warranty. So i went onto HTC chat and spoke to someone called Wioleta, she eventually told me that I have installed "unauthorized software" on my phone. Now I PROMISE YOU guys, i have not done any tweaking on my phone for a long long time...before I did install a ROM rooted my phone etc, but i had to set everything to default settings as i have sent the phone off before because of a different issue ( coloured lines on my phone - if you guys remember), I have done the procedure correctly and HAVE NOT been charged by HTC for the repair,so it was done free...ever since the repair I have not done any modifications to my phone or downloaded any illegal software...So I would like to know why they said i have done this and is it possible that they could have done this?? I have attached a picture of what Wioleta has sent me on chat...I think there is a mistake somewhere because i am innocent...and I have already sent them a complaint about it, but I really need my phone back... please can somebody give me some advice on how to tackle these twats! Thanks for reading.

Your warranty is void the moment you unlock your bootloader. It does not reinitialize when you return to stock it remsins void. There is no fighting it. Htc is in the right.

My stolen phone(HTC desire) how to recover

hello to all genius
My phone HTC desire was stolen month ago and today i noticed from play.google.com that this phone is ON and being used and i am able to install any app. So my question is ,, Is there any way that i can install a app from play.google.com and i can see his location or phone number?
Please help me i m sure you guys definitely have answer for that case.
thanks
Zahid Ismail
I believe Lookout Security app has a location feature. Im not positive on that though. The problem is that even if you got the app to install, you would need to set the software up, which you can't do because you physically need the phone. Hmmmm.

Maybe a useful topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642444
There is an app which you install (from play store) as long as your phone is not wiped, and it will start feeding location. I'm afraid I can't remember what's it called, but some googling should help you find it.
Edit. App is called Plan B.

Call your carrier and maybe the police
.215 radio - SimplexROM 1.2 - Daily Driver - XT912 - Wigdetsoid - Linux Installer - Otter Box - Safestrap
I have used the App called Plan B, and it works. But after you get the info you need I would call your carrier, They should blacklist the ESN so the dirtbag who took your phone can't use it.
Really sorry to hear your phone got stolen but as so many users said, there are many apps that can solve your issue. But you should contact the police if you have his number. What phone will be its replacement?

[Q] Found an unregistered iPad 4 / 64GB / Wi-Fi in a skip!

Yeah, as unbelievable as it sounds it's quite true. My friend saw a table in a skip outside a charity shop the other day that she thought she would take and restore. When she took it out she noticed something heavy wrapped in newspaper and several old Samsung (D400 type) mobile phones in the skip.
When she unwrapped an iPad she brought it to me to examine. It has a white front and a silver back with model: A1458 written on it. I couldn't turn it on as the battery is dead which is indicated by the battery symbol that appears on the LCD when the power button is pushed.
The charge / USB socket looks to be the new iPhone 5 socket for which I do not have a cable for at present so I was unable to tell what spec it was.
I tried to register it with Apple but when it asked for date of purchase (I made one up of about a week old) the website asked me to provide proof of purchase information and would not show me any details about it.
I found another site that claimed to I.D it by it's serial number and I took a picture of it (attached).
So tomorrow I will get a lead and see if any owner info is on it and if so contact them to find out what they did with it. However I have a feeling this is not going to be registered to anyone (if it powers up).
My friend just wants to sell it.
Can anyone give me some advice on the best course of action? I really don't want to just hand it in to the filth so some copper can give it to his brat in 6 months!
Cheers
Phill.

I highly doubt someone just discarded an iPad 4...do the right thing and take it to an Apple store and have them track down the rightful owner...if the owner can't be contacted or did, in fact, discard it...then have fun selling it or keeping it.

I would think it might stop when it gets to the part about needing to configure for a carrier. Are you downloading a carrier (ATT, etc) based update?

I download the automaticly update i dont know what is it exactly.
I bought it from china and i live in Greece. Maybe this is the problem
Tomorrow i will put a sim and i will update the thread.
Thanks for the fast reply
It's most likely a Hong Kong model if you bought it from China, but you might still need to have a SIM inserted for it to carry through with the update.

Not Working with SIM inside
I just tried the update with SIM on but the same....
Any solution?
Same issue!
I have the same phone and when updating the software 10 days ago had the same issue. I have tried everything - including the factory reset suggested by HTC - and the phone will now only go as far as the beats audio splash screen. It hangs there forever, generating vast amounts of heat and nothing else!
After a very snotty email to customer services, I have been offered a free check - even though the phone's just out of warranty - if I spend 80RM to send it to Kuala Lumpur?!
If it gets resolved, I'll let you know...but I'm not holding my breath... I seem to have a ery expensive light-up paper weight now...

Send it back through RMA.

I suggest flashing full factory images prior to RMA to see if it will solve your problems.

already did and did not work, what do not understand is that sometimes it is normal is more pressing the power button is well again :crying:
NOTE: I imported my phone, do not know if the warranty work in Brazil!
So this is the same if you try and boot into fastboot? If so, the phone is screwed so you'd need to get in touch with the importer as they should be covering the warranty

Someone else had this issue a few days ago and they said they replaced the screen and the screen still remained fuzzy. I honestly believe it's a bad ribbon connector unopposed to a loose one. I asked the person to make sure its on there tight and they said it was.
I'd like to know what the issue is so if I run into the problem I know exactly what to do but changing the screen is a waste of time. Numerous users changed the screen and the problem remained. This issue is all over the internet and it isn't just a Nexus 5 issue. I've seen Droid DNA's, Evo's etc.

SPen - funky functionality

so this is fun:
bought a new Note 5...
SPEN isn't working properly, when I remove the SPEN from the device, the device doesn't acknowledge it (regardless of whether the screen is on/off)
I rooted the device, thinking that a new rom might help, no luck
now, since it's rooted and KNOX is gone, I'm wondering what to do as far as getting a replacement
Does anyone have any tips?
Thanks!
[emoji50] hind sight only...if it doesn't work outta the box, return it...., now? after root? Try going back to stock, return and hope no one notices anything.

Yes, just go back to stock and return it. Even if you can't get back to stock go and exchange it, they won't bother checking.
There's no need to wait if it doesn't function properly

Do you have a case on it with a magnet on it by chance?
why do people turn to root when sh't doesn't work right out of the box??? It's baffling! Common sense should tell you to return and get another device that works as it should immediately out of the box. Rooting generally is not to fix what manufactures intended to work in the 1st place. Rooting is for customizations outside of manufacturers default setup. People if your device is not working properly out of the box, more than likely, rooting and flashing a custom rom will not fix the problem. Moreso, you may create an added problem with voiding your warranty! IJS
