[Q] Buzz sound in camera app / recording video - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have a samsung infuse on official 2.3.6 GB. I have a problem with its camera app.
Whenever i open the camera app, there is a continuous buzz sound from the lens (not the speaker of phone) and as soon as i tap the screen (to focus) it goes away or if i shake the phone it goes away. If i change to video recording mode, the sound starts again and since the tap on screen does not work here, i have to shake the phone a bit to make the sound go away.
Is there any way to fix this ? The sound goes away when i close the camera app
Also i believe the pics are coming a bit blurry and in video, we have some lines (artifacts) going bottom to top as it is like when we point any camera to any old CRT TV we see continuous lines going due to screen refresh. Not sure i am explaining properly.
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Are you running with the CPU over-clocked? There was at least one other report of this issue possibly related to that.
Try dropping your max to 1200mhz to see if that helps.
Otherwise, go back to a pure stock setup.. Including kernel.. to rule out custom firmware entirely.

I have never rooted this device and never put any custom ROM in it. Always used Kies to update to GB from Froyo.
Are you suggesting me to go back to Froyo (using Odin or Hiemdell) and see if it eliminates the issue ?
I know it is a hardware related noise and mostly from lens of camera.

You could try froyo just to rule out gb, but my guess is hardware. A Google search turns up some hits on the sgs2 as well as the infuse. Forcing the camera to focus can provide temporary relief. Some have tried toggling the flash.
Replacing the part may be the best option.

Is the camera it makes sound when u turn it on reason it aligns the focus and moves the lens to get the focus and that is when is makes sounds.

Autofocus

The autofocus on the sensation is not working for close items you want to photograph.
An example:

I've had the opposite problem (tried to take a video of some paragliders), close ups are really sharp though. The automatic settings are a little bit unpredictable, might need to set the mode next time.

That makes it even worse. I called HTC and they suspected a firmware issue.
Im running 1.28.401.1
Yeah, I've had some issues with autofocus with close-ups, with the camera set to macro mode. When you tap on the object to focus it will go through its range of focal lengths and miss the subject. The only remedy to this is to move the phone further away. So it seems that the phone's lens/es are more capable of macro shots than the focussing system currently allows.
I called HTC and they said it might be software related and will probably fix this in next update. Let's hope so!
Having the same issue. It manages to focus fine but locks focus at the wrong moment. Glad to hear they'll fix this.
I definately not. Close up works better for me the autofocus does take a little patience but is worth it after its taken. It blows the g2x cam out of the water that's for sure!!

I've got a similar problem, it appeared like 2 weeks ago, I cannot focus up close objects I've tried everything, it's as if the focus is stuck on something and never changes no matter what I do. I have changed the mode (close up or macro) different light and so on .. but I can never get a focus It doesn't even attempt to focus. It used to work before when I played around with the setting if I would switch on/off some of the things the camera would magically "wake up" and start focusing, any Idea ?
It's one of the things that HTC broke in the 2.3.4 update. Macro mode worked great before that (i used to use it for bulk barcode scanning, but that is impossible now).

Camera Broken?

My camera seems to have wigged out,Tonight I opened the camera app to take a photo and out of nowhere these green lines appeared and they are there while in the app and also appear on the photo.Just letting you all know in case this happens to anyone else.I would like to hear back if this has happened to anyone as I haven't heard of this being an issue and would like to know how rare it is.Thanks

Did you try to reboot your phone not using fast boot ?(you can turn it off by going to settings>power then uncheck the fast boot option)
If that doesn't work try a hard reset This erases all data so be careful and backup.
1. Take out battery.
2. Put it back in.
3. Hold volume down button down.
4. While holding volume down hold down power.
5. You should get a menu with some options, select clear storage(use the volume keys to move up and down, press and release power to select it)
6. When it asks you to confirm press Volume up for yes.
7. Check to see if it works correctly without any apps installed if it does install your apps and then make sure it's still working correctly. If it's still not working send it to HTC.

It's the Matrix, NEO........
When you get the green line issue: Contact HTC Support.
My thread about this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127658
Likely to blame for the raw software. Do not worry, more than sure the camera is not physically damaged, reset or backup must help to solve it.
Just wanting to throw another possibility into this - although unlikely - it could actually be a hardware issue.
I have a Digital SLR Camera - and when I've not used it for a while, or, seemingly, when it's a little colder than ambient, that is the exact same effect that I get, until I've run a fair few shots - this seems to clear the build-up of static / moisture / coldness / whatever it is on the CCD Sensor, and it comes back to life.
As I say - it's just a thought - and the CCD on my camera is quite a lot larger than the one in my phone (!), but interesting none-the-less.
I had this too, just sent it back for replacement. There's another topic about this, apparently something to do with EMC protection.

Maybe problem is the not original LCD?

Weird clicking sound in camera when focusing

After updating to JB, i am hearing a weird sound when the camera is focusing. It doesn't happen when i was still in ICS. The camera produces a clicking sound (usually paired by 2 clicks after touching the screen for it to focus). Do you guys think it's a hardware issue? I was wondering coz this only happen when i updated to JB..
Sent from my HTC One S4 using xda-developers app
Mine does that too. Always did. So did my old HTC nexus one. It seems to be the auto focus module. Some times mine ticks loud but usually it's faint. It shouldn't be a hardware issue of your camera auto focuses.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
But i only start to hear that when i updated my phone to JB. I've never heard that ticking sound when i was on ics 4.0.4.. nevertheless, it's just the sound that is troubling me. With the camera app itself and the quality of the pictures taken, i don't have any issues.. i'm just afraid that the update has something to do with that ticking sound..

Are u guys with s4 Jb update facing this issue of sound coming from earpiece instead of rear speakers after the Jb update?
Like for example when someone calls u, sometimes the sound of ringtone comes from the earpiece instead of rear speakers?
Even if u make some video with camera and then watch it, the recorded sound comes from earpiece. Did u check it?
It is an issue with some S3 phones after Jb update. Wanted to confirm r S4 phones (with JB update) facing the same issue?

A possible FIX. This may not be the correct way to fix it, but should work anyways. Get a Root Browser, go into system/media/audio/ui and replace camera_focus.ogg. Make sure to set the files permission to 755. I found an online converter that converts most sound files to .ogg, it has to be an .ogg file, with permissions 755.
Hope this helps

Hello there!
Well this is weird but mine does click since the first snap. And it was ics then...
It seems it depends on a certain device. I didn't have it before but after changing my mobo in service, the sound appeared. On ics. And it only sounds on auto focus. Manually focusing there is silence.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
It's probably just JB using a different focusing mechanism than ICS which perhaps causes the lens to move more thus resulting in a more audible click noise. As long as it functions fine and takes focused pictures I wouldn't worry about it.
Always had this noise, only in auto focus though. It's disappeared on CM10.1, and I can't say how happy I am at that.

Duo camera issues.

I keep getting a message about duo camera lenses being blocked. Does not happen in portrait mood but always in landscape mode it happens while I hold the phone by the very edges. I am inside my house could it be that there is not enough light?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Could there be dust or a fingerprint on one/both of the lenses?
Also if you're using a case, make sure that it isn't covering either lens as well.
No case and I don't see anything on the lens. I guess it's just mine. Contacted HTC and they said it's an app interfering with the camera because when they had me boot the phone into safe mode, the problem does not occur. I don't have anything downloaded that's camera related.

If anyone can figure out what app may be interfering, I'd be curious to know as I'm getting this error also. I also don't have any camera apps.
I can cause the message to pop up in auto mode by getting the lens close enough to something where the top lens doesn't see the same thing as the main lens but I'm guessing you weren't very close to anything since you were in landscape mode.

This. I've noticed myself when taking a picture and something is closer to the left side in landscape mode.
The whole reason behind this camera structure is for depth. That is why 1 lens is slightly recessed to the other. Its provides better distinction making it similar to the human eye. Yes, one eye is slightly recessed to the other, allowing this to occur. We are smarter and faster at processing that information better than the phone can, so essentially, if something appears closer to the left lens, it will error out.
Fix, cover both lenses, move camera, uncover.

Duo Camera Blocked
I am also having this issue. My original M8 camera worked fine but I swapped it due to an unrelated issue. Now, whenever I load the camera app, it says "Duo Camera Blocked". Obviously there is nothing in the way and I have no third party camera apps installed. In fact I have the exact same setup as the previous phone which didn't have an issue.
I'm starting to think that this is a hardware issue and will need replacing. Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Yes my friend
Anyone help it ?
I just got my M8 today, played with it for a couple of hours before unlocking the bootloader. Restored titanium backup after unlocking, everything was fine until I opened the camera. I also keep getting the "duo camera blocked" warning, I tried taking pictures for an hour straight but the warning persists and I can't use U-focus or any other duo feature on every picture I take.
I'm on stock ROM and recovery and unrooted. Tried to restoring factory settings, no success. Just updated to the newest firmware (1.54.401.10) via OTA but still no working duo camera.
Should I sent it back for repairs (with relocked bootloader) or has someone found a solution for this problem?
Hey I started the thread, but I can not explain how my issue as just gone away. But I think I stated I don't use the camera that much but have recently been using it without issue. Strange. When in doubt I would just exchange if that's an option for you.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I know this is probably very obvious, but make sure your finger isn't covering the Duo camera at all. I've had that message a couple times and it was due to my finger blocking it. You won't see it on the screen.
I'm definitely not blocking the second camera. I tried taking pictures in portrait and landscape, inside and outside, with every possible grip, there is no dirt or dust on the lenses, it just doesn't work..
I just got on the phone with customer support, they advised me to sent it back for repairs.
After calling I just noticed something that might explain what's wrong with my phone. If I look very closely at the second camera lens, it seems like it's tilted sideways a couple degrees. I attached a photo taken through a mirror (I don't have another camera at the moment). Can someone confirm that it's not supposed to be this way?
Its hard to tell in the pic, but to me it looks like the Duo is aimed slightly up. Try taking the pic a bit farther back from the mirror and without the case. Also I've found it's very sensitive to fingerprints causing slightly blurry photos, and you have one on the main lens. See if you can get a slightly clearer one.
Here's a better picture, taken with another camera. I drew a red square to show how the lens appears to be tilted.
I'm sending the phone back for repairs tomorrow, I hope they don't make a big deal of the bootloader being re-locked.

[Q] Camera Auto focus issue

I have the n915fy version of note edge. When i turn on the camera, it take about 15 -30 secs for the auto focus to respond/start working. I upgraded to lollipop 5.0.1 few days after purchase but did not take note of this issue before upgrade. When i clear camera cache and data, the problem gets fixed for the first time of camera use but problem comes back after first use of camera. What could be the cause and what is the suggested solutions.
Same problem here, not fixed yet. I noticed that autofocusing is instant if the phone is very hot...
