Like theres so much x_x - Galaxy Tab 3 General

Just Rooted my Samsung galaxy 3 tablet 4.1.2
I see everyone on youtube with all this neat stuff like custom key board and screen like where do I download that stuff specifically for my tablet and not run into an error of downloading one for the phone version...cause that's one of the leading causes to breaking the tablet? but don't know where to start when it comes to breaking the ice
Like there's some sense of fear when going into this without some real good advise...I'm reading that some people break their tablets so I'm a bit nervous as to what to do first. If anyone wants to get me up to speed on everything I'd gladly appreciate it

Use the forums or play store but if you want to try something new back up your device first so if anything goes wrong you can roll back to previous back up I use titanium back up and make sure you have cwm instslled

Official Huawei Ascend Thread

I thought I would go ahead and make a general thread for the Cricket Huawei Ascend until something more concrete comes along. My apologies to the Mods if the word “Official " is not approved. I just want a section where people can post anything and everything about thier Android Ascends since, well, as we all know, XDA rocks and people are more inclined to look here first then any other development website!
So, post up folks! There are a few of us who have these phones and are pretty well versed when it comes to the ins and outs! I will post up some small write ups and what you can do to get a little extra bang for the buck in the speed department of things and I am sure a lot of others have valuable and up to date information!
I’ll start by posting what I have said about this phone in another thread.
Rooting this phone and removing some of the pre-installed apps and files is a must.
z4 root works great with this phone. Nothing towards Superoneclick but lets face it, its way to complicated for the average user and even then, it's hard to get working. z4 root is a total win in this case, I have managed to delete half the junk the phone came with and have noticed a slight performance boost although it's not much to brag about with a 600Mhz processor. A custom kernel is almost a must as well. I can not play non market games, it's slow if you try to multitask and is all around slow coming from an expert Droid user.
Lastly, the Swipe keyboard. Who ever would want to use that! What a slow nightmare it is to try to type with Swipe in my opinion, I deleted it. The stock keyboard is not much better. Get " Better Keyboard ", it's not nearly as laggy and it can actually keep up with fast texting.
BUT, there is a bright side to all the cons ( almost all the cons )
Rooting, deleting junk and downloading Better Keyboard makes this phone an awesome entry level phone that can hold it's own with the mid range phones. It's no Evo by any means, but, it's a step closer to becoming an affordable real “smart phone ".
The ability to overclock would make it 100% indeed a smart phone and more then capable of holding it's own vs. $300+ phones. It's a project phone, you get what you pay for but, if you have a little time and patience, you too can own a get Android device with no contract, low monthly payments and hours of entertainment from the Android platform. I, am sold on this phone. I have owned other Android type phones and I can honestly say, this phone can be some competition.
Sure it has a poor quality LCD screen and can be buggy out of the box, but like I said, a little patience and determination is what makes this phone enjoyable. And, after all, it's not like it needs constant maintenance. Just a few steps to take out of the box and your set. For $150, I can't complain now that my phone is working like an Android phone should work.
Phone runs a lot smoother without all the provider apps.

I'm working on getting this phone deodexed, if there is anyone else with this phone that has some technical ability or experience with odex files, let me know, that way this can go a lot easier and quicker... If not, I'll figure it out myself...

Awesome a thread for the m860. I've been messing around with this phone for past couple days. I have mine rooted and all the bloatware removed. I wish someone would come out with some custom roms already for this phone. This is only my 2nd Android phone ever. The first one was the htc hero, which i could do whatever i want with it and it worked great on cricket.

I'll let you know, I'm almost finished with the theme, I just need to make the text readable in a couple of places, namely the system clock and the menus that pop up when you press the menu button...
ALSO I wanted to remind everyone, if you haven't done so already, "everyone should request support for the Ascend for the clockworkmod rom manager, that would be the real first step to getting some real modding done on the Ascend, I nearly bricked my phone a few times working on that theme, I had to reflash my phone back to stock 3 times.... which really sucks. Contact page is here for clockworkmod http://www.clockworkmod.com/contact and here is the contact email address [email protected]"
With the clockwork mod it would be very trivial to experiment with the phone, because if you/I mess up the phone wouldn't need to be flashed back to factory just flashed back to just before it was messed up, which would be awesome....

As for clockworkmod i don't think koush will consider it... :-\ because i been trying to contact him for the past two months and no answer... he even came out with a guide to do it ourselves or to send him one of our androids for a built. I mean i could understand the guy he must have other important matters to attend to but if he want it to he can make it in two days with his kind of expertise. I think were gonna have to port ourselves a flash recovery and sent it to him so he can make it official.

Those instructions aren't very detailed, they seem to assume that you've done an android build before...
He says he will do it if we loan him a phone, but I can't be without my phone for a week. The Ascend is cheap enough($109.99 on crickets website, it may have to be activated to get that price, but it's $150 in stores), I propose that we all donate a bit of money and purchase one to send to koush, the clockwork dude. It wouldn't take many people to donate for us to be able to do this...
I setup a paypal button for it
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=ASD4X4W4ANV3Q
As far as when he is done with the phone, I'm up for suggestions as far as what to do with it, we could sell it and then return as much money as possible back to the donors... However if I had an extra device to mess around with I would definitely use it to learn how to make custom roms, I would use it to try to port 2.3 over to our phone. Other than that I'm up for ideas...
We have an opportunity here to make some great things happen with our phone, let us not forsake this moment!!!!
If you think this is a good idea, either link back to this post or post the paypal link with the explanation to other Ascend forums or threads...
I'm down to donate $30... I will keep everyone updated as far as how much money gets donated...

Android version 2.4

I sent my Nexus S to get fixed and when I got it back it was completely different, it was like they left a developers version on it.
I don't want to send it away to fixed again.
I attached some pictures of the software that is on it now (more in the zip), if anyone nows how I could get it back to 2.3.4 like I had before I got it fixed I would be very greatful.
If not than maybe the information could be helpful to someone
sorry if this is in the wrong place but i couldn't find anywhere better to put it
Nesus S GT-I9020A
Model number: Full Android on Crespo
Android version: 2.4
Build number: full_crespo-eng 2.4 GINGERBREAD 142 test-keys
Is this a joke or is this legit?
I would do a nandroid backup and upload it for other Nexus One owners to check out before you wipe ANYTHING.

I can...
I can confirm i have a 2.4 device, looks like its a developer phone or something...my friend is a mobilicity dealer, and fresh out of the box we were greeted by a big red and black wallpaper ...its brand new...from the dealer. how do i extract this firmware? or does someone want it?

it seems alot smooter and quicking in comparison to another nexus s we have with 2.3 on it, my friend said he recieved a batch of 10 and only one of them was like this....

Your photos look a lot more legitimate than the OPs. I'll forward this link to an ACS member and see what he thinks of it.
I think this is fake. I don't think that 2.4 would have the same kernel version as 2.3, but maybe it is a minor update or something.
If this is real do not try to customize/wipe/reset and keep it as is until you can make a full backup.
u could adb shell into it and get some more information from there.
Could they extract the whole thing using Odin?
It's legit, but it's dead old.
2.3.3 is newer.
in all honesty it feels way smoother...i mean absolutly no lag on the home screen with widgets i know you guys feel a bit of lag on the 2.3.3 home screen...if not your lying lol but ...the launcher feels like its Launcher pro...it doesn't do the reel thing..if you know what i mean...yeah i really want to extract this...we boxed it up and didnt even put a sim in it...let me know what to do guys...
+1 On the wallpaper. Actually no, it's a fail.
1) The phone wouldn't even boot if the OS wasn't installed completely not to mention I've never seen an Android phone throw up the 'warning' like that. It just writes it to the log and reboots, crashes, carries on, or doesn't boot at all.
2) It's an obvious wallpaper because the widget sits in front of it. A warning would pop up in front of every other task if that's what Android did (normally it boot loops or crashes).
3) The phone info screen makes no sense. You can also edit the build.prop file to make the info screen say "your_mom_is_hot 5000.00.543.158" and the kernel could say "pot.head 2.35.420".
4) We've seen this sort of thing before. If you're going to fake it - make sure you don't have a bunch of Android geeks around to call you out.
5) If it's really 2.4 (which may not even be the number for the next version) then tell us, what's new? Oh it's smoother? Great, so is CM7 and MIUI. Smoother doesn't cut it, sorry. New features that we don't have are where it's at and are what proves it to us. So do it....

Please don't base your opinion on one post. I suggested something to help and then had to go to work. Then again, if you're going pose it in a way like you're extorting us or are some picky, middle aged lady at Jcpenney threatening totake her business elsewhere maybe they should help you. A couple people here offered assistance but you're choosing to listen to those who are skeptical. We see a lot of bogus info.

Honestly, it's not worth dumping.
2.4 was GRI05.
If you really must, install ClockworkMod and take a NAND backup.
lol at the jcpenny old lady....
well i'll try to extract it tonight using Odin like you said...i just dont want to muck it up and not have it work anymore...i hope theres more than 1 try.
Google has already announced only version 2.3.5!
So why we are talking about 2.4? It is easy to change you android version in build.prop =)
Hey,
I have exactly the same problem with my nexus s. Not going to bother with photos because people will say they are fake but it looks the same. I took it to get repaired because it was freezing, they didn't repair it but it came back with what I think is a developers/maintenance version of android. It's called 2.4 but it's not a new version. It has lots of developers apps e.g. 'Dev Tools'. It doesn't have Android market though so you can't really access any new apps.
Does anyone know how to get back to 2.3.x so I can just have a normal phone.
I've tried updating to 2.3.x (1, 3 and 4) and it fails every time as it's not really an update. I think I need to do a 'full' install of 2.3.x. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks for your help.

New to Skyrocket (and Android)

New guy here to Android. I had an LG Thrill for about a month and a half and decided to take it back and pick up the Skyrocket. I've been using an iPhone 3GS for the last 2 years, so this is all new to me. Already getting into the customizing, but haven't dove into rooting yet. Seems like there's so many different ones, that I get overwhelmed and decide not to root the phone. Any suggestions?
I used super one click to root and flashed cwm through rom Manager found it easy and straight forward. After that pic a rom and flash away. Welcome to the skyrocket

What about the whole restore/backup thing? Is that part of it as well? Or a separate thing to do?

Don't put the cart before the horse re: rooting your phone. Just because you can doesn't always make it a good idea. But, read the sticky posts at the top of each sub-forum. Don't root until you really come up against a compelling reason to do so (I wasn't planning on rooting this phone until I decided to say to hell with AT&T's tethering manager). And if you do, read, and reread, then read again the steps on rooting and try to grok what's happening (at least on the surface).
Don't be too eager to flash any old ROM that someone tosses up on XDA. Many create more problems than they puport to fix. Don't be too concerned with overclocking your CPU. These phones have fast dualcore processors that can chew through all the bloatware the carrier puts on with no problem. Overclocking can shorten battery and device life and cause weird assorted issues. Don't get hung up on benchmark scores trying to eke out a little extra just because someone else's bar graph is bigger.
At any rate, I'll keep the stock ROM until an ICS ROM becomes available for the Skyrocket. I'll take either Samsung's or Cyanogen's, whichever comes first.
Anyway, read the sticky threads, don't root unless you know why you want to root, avoid flashing strange ROMs, and don't get hung up on benchmark scores if your device is performing fine otherwise. Oh, and have fun!

It's part of it as long as you want to keep your apps. I find that restoring apps from backup on a new ROM can be the source of many issues that otherwise wouldn't be present if you simply wiped and flashed fresh. It's certainly a bit of a pain to reinstall apps, though.

I would reccomend just using the stock rom for now theres is x100 more you can do with andriord as you will soon see. I honestley had the skyrocket for about a month before i rooted. Some apps i reccomend that dont need a root,
Atorrent - downloads torrent files directly onto your phone
tubex- downloads youtub videos right on your phone those are my 2 fav non rooted apps
Ill find the links for u. But i installed cmw recovery via odin. Then i did a nandroid backup. The reason for that is so i have a backup without root. Then root The
Phone.

The first thing I did was root it and then put a rom on it. But that's just me it all depends on what you want. Its not a bad idea to familiarize yourself with the android experience first before you go ahead and get into the fun stuff.

my suggestion to any new Android want to be Root user....
read read read read read.....read everything, even read post from other device forums. Google and read, youtube and watch.
put it all together in your head, on paper, on a spreadsheet whatever works for you....and educate yourself Before you Root and Rom.
Also remember, everything you do to your phone is your responsibility, not anyone on xda or anywhere else.
Best way to avoid problems, read and learn before you attempt.
My first Root and Rom I had read for weeks before I even looked at my phone funny.
And it's good to ask questions, just try and find an answer before you ask, most of the time it has been asked and answered already. If not here then on sites like RootzWiki or Droid Forums....just use Google.
Good luck! and welcome to Android and xda
Thanks for all of the advice guys. I'm big on doing research before I jump into something (especially electronic things). I'll keep reading stuff and seeing what I can find. I know it won't happen for a while, just wanted to see what was out there, and if it was easy as jailbreaking, which it doesn't look like it is. I'm sure it's easy for you guys, but for a n00b like me, it's a bit overwhelming.
Dont even worry... it all gets better. We got a great helpful community and amazing devs. And if your scared of bricking, we got ODIN which can fix "almost" any problems
I am in an eerily similar situation. iPhone 2g --> iPhone 3g --> iPhone 3gs all since 2007-2008. Finally got an android phone and went with the Skyrocket. I have always been a techy, but, aside from a modded HP touchpad, have very limited experience with Android.
I rooted my phone after about two weeks. I read SO FREAKING MUCH about options, bricking potential, this still flash counter thing that att/samsung do, etc. I even have a buddy that has been an android fanboy since day one (computer science major).
I mainly wanted to root so that I could a) enable wifi tethering b) freeze bloatware (NOT uninstall), c) download apps from AARRRGGG locations and d) to simply learn how
I am personally waiting until ICS comes out before I try any custom roms. Until then, just learning everything I can.
AARRRGGG = what type of people say AARRRGGG?
Side note/Threadjack: one thing I am trying to find out is if ALL SGSII USB Jigs work with the SGSII Skyrocket. About to buy one just to have onhand...just incase, haha.

Pirates my friend. Pirates. LOLS.
As for rooting and rom development, pretty much everyone has given you the best advice you can get. Before rooting, always ask yourself why would you need to root your phone. Its really unnecessary to root your device if you dont really dont know anything about your device nor do you know what rooting does. Save yourself the trouble and stay with your stock rom as its probably the most stable thing for you. Until you start reading some threads, watch some videos, and read some more, then you will probably find some reason to get your device rooted and install some great roms that these developers have created for our phones.
Just make sure you flash a rom specific to skyrocket. Anything else will most likely brick your phone.

[Q] Has anybody gotten a GT-P5113 rooted with Jellybean yet?

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5113 and I want Jellybean on it pretty bad. Jellybean is android 4.2, I think. Right now I have 4.0.4 and turned off OTA because I have a rooted stock ROM. My Friend has the same tablet, NOT rooted and took the latest OTA update. She still has 4.0.4 but a different kernel. Samsung is really dragging their butts about releasing Jellybean for this tablet, what is the problem?
I use Clockworkmod ROM manager to manage my ROMs, but originally rooted with Odin and a Windows 7 laptop. Does anybody actually have a GT-P5113 rooted and working on Jellybean yet or is this just a fantasy?
If so, could you please tell how you did it, source files, or at least a URL to the howto page?
Thanks.
I am using Jelly Bean 4.1.2. It's not 4.2 but is Jelly Bean. Look in the tab 2 development forum a couple topics down

Yeah? No kidding? Well that is better than what I got, I did a cyanogenmod through clockworkmod and it was pretty cool and all, but no jellybean. Still had 4.0.4. I messed with it for a while, but all my stuff was gone and even Titanium could not bring it back. Since the new ROM didn't do anything spectacular, I used CWM to put back my old rom and apps. I do not want to start all over again if it is not what I want.
I will go see if I can find it. If you can, give me some links to check out. Thanks! :good:

Yah, it is true, there are JB updates for this thing. All ROMs are rooted so there we go! What I found is:
[ROM][GT-P51XX][JB][4.1.2] CyanogenMod 10 official nightly builds
Now the instructions say to use the P5100 ROM but there are P5113 ROMS too. We also need Google Apps: Oh Christ, good luck figuring out which one you need.
For JB we need a CyanogenMod 10. Can be found here for P5113.
We get Android 4.1.2 and Jellybean! I did this last night from the Cyanogen mods in CWM and was not impressed, plus I did not read the instructions about using Titanium to backup only my user apps and NOT the data. NO system apps. Thus, I could not use Titanium to restore my stuff and was pretty pissed about starting all the way over and not even having JB. This is different and this I can do, besides, it is not even difficult.
I am definitely going for this but this time, I will do it right, get my apps backed up in Titanium the way it says, get the right ROM from the page I gave you the link for, and follow the instructions in the above link. I need some time for this but tomorrow I have to go and get my girl. She is close to 100 miles away and I got a roommate moving in for a few months, this will be hectic but I will get it done. Since doing this ROM will put me back to stock with all my stuff gone, I need my apps and google maps and navigator to get my baby, I restored back to my rooted Touch Wiz because everything works great. In the car, I use my Verizon Razr Maxx to get WiFi without that hot spot bill with an essential tool for rooted phones: wifi tether for root users. I turn this on, I have wifi for the tablet and can use Google Navigator on the big screen, not to mention great music and talk radio with Tune In, Pandora, or Slacker. If you got a rooted phone and a WiFi tablet, this is a Must Have app and it is totally free!
Thanks man. If anyone is interested in what happened, did it work, is it cool? Is it difficult, and do I have any tips, I will be glad to post them here, upon request. Wish me luck and thanks dude!
Hi Ohmster - Ok, I thought about giving you the rom I am using but decided you should see which one you want. Aside from that I am using
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892046.
It seems to be working very well for me.
Good luck picking up your girl. Since you are where you are you shouldn't have any weather (snow) problems.

Yeah, that is the one I was looking at. Hey, did you backup your apps to Titanium? I never backed up "just downloaded apps without data before" and that is what I have to do or else I will be stuck trying to remember and install almost 400 apps. Did you use Titanium to restore your apps or did you just do the ROM and then do everything by hand after that? Oh, do you have a GT-P5113? Thanks!
I have a I777 ATT so I have a lot of my backups with titanium and just transfered them over to the Tab. Most of the time I just restore app and no data. Some I get them fresh from the market. Yes I am using Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi, GT-5113 same as you.

Yep, that's the one that I am looking at. I have had this thing on my screen for days, wanting to do it, but not wanting to lose the tab if I have to pickup my girl, she lives about 75 miles away and the huge 10.1" tab screen is excellent for Google Maps and better yet, Google Navigation. It gets me right there and if I am low on cash, I can tell it to bypass tolls. The Florida Turnpike and I95 pretty much run, side by side, so either is about the same drive, but the Turnpike will cost about $7-8 each way, only two lanes, no stops but for 50 mile apart rest areas. I95 is free and has more lanes but chokes with traffic during the week at rush hour.
The rest of you guys can skip this stuff in red, it is way off topic...
This really sucks man, she is watching over her sick dad, he has black lung on oxygen all the time, Virginia and the coal mines, you know. Then he is hospitalized with a heart attack. So, she stays at his side 24/7. Sleeping on the hospital floor and all that. The other kids, many older, do not bother this much. He comes home and she sleeps in his room, on the floor, by his side, to give medicine on schedule and in case he has any sort of complication. I tell her that she is burning the candle at both ends and will not make it, come down by me, let me pamper you for two days, decompress, and feel good. We will get you a self inflating air mattress to cover your sleeping needs, plus whatever kind of girly stuff she needs. It takes her a whole day and night to start to loosen up and feel better. Now she goes into the shower, next stop, Netflix in the bed for some fun and rest. They phone rings, it her family, telling her dad needs her, he is getting worse and she is the only one who can care for him proper. She made out a detailed notebook of prescription medication, dates, times, initials, just to make sure that he is cared for proper, and the lazy ass sister iwth 6 kids and all the rest of them cannot "take care of dad" so she has to come home, NOW. *@# Dammit, there goes our "happy time"
AND the next day of rest and pampering for my baby. She is a good chick, she makes me lay down and does her thing, she won't leave unless I am "so satisfied that I won't even look at another girl" (I don't look at other women anyway, I am old fashioned and never cheat.) and right back into the car we go, to take her home and then I drive back home again. I only got like 4 hours sleep the night before and I am way too tired to make this drive but I have to. She is *****ing the entire way to let her drive, but she does not have a license so I am a bit uncomfortable with that so I have to put up with her the whole time and she is right. (She owes fines from a long time ago and we do not have the money yet to pay them all off, payment plan.) I make it there, dad seems no worse than when we left or so it seems, and I drive home. Got pretty close too but then got nailed by a State Trooper, caught me not staying in my lane and everyone is doing 65-70 MPH, do 55 and you will get run over. I show my credentials and explain that I am way tired, the entire dad/girl/sick stuff so he gives me a sobriety test. Follow the pen with your eyes only. What is your education level, high school graduate? Recite the alphabet, NO singing, from A to Z. I pass both tests with ease. He says fatigue and intoxicated appear the same to a cop so I think maybe he will give me some sort of break, only 15 miles from home now. NO. On ticket for "Fail to stay in single lane", $166 plus one for "Unlawful speed 70 Interstate", $266. $432 in fines plus points, could this day get ANY worse?!! And I am a decent guy too. Never lie, never cheat, don't steal, faithful, the whole 9 yards! I need a ticket lawyer. ...sigh.
Yeah, here is the happy couple... Pictures Attached.
So yeah, that is exactly the ROM I am looking at, you say it is good, I am up for it. I did grab a Cyanogen 9 from inside of CWM, but that was not Jellybean and then everything was gone. ClockworkMod made the entire thing fast and easy, but did not offer cyanogen 10. I restored the previous backup.
Okay, so help me out here. The download links on that page do not work, man. The Google Apps are so numerous, which one did you install for your GT-P5113? I want to do this really bad but when I tried CMK9, CWM made it real easy, backed up the current system first, did the update really fast, wiped all caches, and I was left with, not much of anything. I did install Gapps and downloaded the Titanium backujp that I paid for, wanted to put my stuff back but Titanium could not find any backups. I forgot to do the setup and tell it to look on the SD card as well as Dropbox and G Drive, I think I am supposed to restore apps only, NO DATA. Once I put my gmail account back in, my contacts and all should come back and Titanium will do the apps so this should not be that hard.
I can download the ROM and install from SD card with CWM, should be a piece of cake, but I need good links to the ROM AND Gapps. Can you help me out? I want what you got. Thanks!
[Solved] 4.2.1 installed!
I finally got Jellybean installed with the Cyanogenmod ROM 10.1. This one works good.
cm-10-20121130-EXPERIMENTAL-p5110-CODEWORKX.zip
gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip
This page tells exactly how to do it and where to get the files.
By the way, you can forget all that attach the cable to the PC stuff and just use Clockworkmod ROM manager to install this, piece of cake. Put the two files on sdcard, boot to recovery, wipe both caches, install the zip for the ROM and install the zip for gapps. Done!
Thanks everybody. Just wanted to close this thread properly.

Six Guns + Shield

Hey sorry if I'm doing this wrong I'm not much of a forum dweller..
I just purchased an nVidia Shield, it has already been upgraded (or downgraded) to 4.4.2. It is not rooted. I really like it so far however I am trying to get Six Guns working, currently with vanilla Play Store it is not available for this device.
I got it working just fine on my rooted Galaxy S3, as well as Battlefield Commander, using the guidance of the XDA thread, market helper and xposed.
I've been searching high and low and all I can find are directions for rooted devices. I am on an extended vacation (will be here for another 3 months) so rooting is not an option unless it can be done without a PC.
I am also not a fan of cracked/blackmarket .apk's. Would anyone be so kind as to point me in the right direction?
Again I apologize if I've missed a thread explaining this, not easy when I don't have a PC in front of me. Cheers!

Shield can be rooted with an apk. Just download and run it.

Yaa? Well that's superb, thank you,, I'm used to doing everything the manual way, are you certain it will work? Has anyone else given it a go?
I used it on my att Galaxy Note 3 and it worked so I tried it on my shield. It takes longer than the 15 secs it says to wait so after pushing the button in the app just let it sit until it reboots. After reboot install the SuperSU in from my thread then run it to update the binaries. You shouldn't have a problem. I was also able to unroot my note 3 easily from within the SuperSU app. Also this method doesn't wipe your data so that's a big plus for me. I've been wanting to root but didn't want to wipe my data.

Awesome I'll definitely give it a try, just sort of waiting for one more person to share their experience with this method.
I was never worried about brick'ing in my s3 as I can easily get that sorted. The Shield is one of those niche products though, I'm not even sure how I could recover it if something went wrong.
Out of curiosity did you update to 4.4.2 or did you stick with 4.3?
Thanks again you've been a great help! E>

I'm on 4.4.2. If your worried about bricking I would start looking at and getting familiar with the restore process just in case, but it pretty straight forward. Go to the ATT Note 3 forum. They've been using this apk to root so you can see if there has been any ill effect of using it. Glad I could help.
