[Q] ZTE Grand Era LTE (V9800) Rom? - General Questions and Answers

Hi, i cant seem to find any thread or topic or any google search for this device, i got it super cheap witch is why i bought it. payed 100 usd with 2 year warrenty and everything is fine hardware wise but the software is not up to par.
Does a rom even exist for this device or am i out of luck?

Hi, got the same device, but haven't found any roms yet.. What you can do to make it a little bit quicker is to root it and remove all the zte bloatware and the stock launcher (i replaced it with Nova Launcher), install Chainfire 3D drivers, and tweak the kernel (kernel tuner or similar, you can set the second cpu-core to always on, change the cpu governors and tweak memory, uses more power but some of the tweaks are worth it!) check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44035437 thread on how to root it. Sadly the only way is using a Chinese software, but its pretty easy. When your rooted u can use a program like Titanium Backup to remove the bloatware..
I could barely use the phone with the standard setup, it was sooo slow! But with all the tweaks it almost twice as fast.

Any real need to root?

I sent my Galaxy S Vibrant through the dishwasher, which didn't turn out particularly well, and the insurance company sent me this G2X as a replacement.
Pleasantly surprised that wifi tethering works out of the box. That was the big point of rooting the Samsung and upgrading first to Bionic (which was awesome) and then to CM7 (which was a big wad of bugs).
Any particular advantage to rooting? LG seems to be much better than Samsung as keeping up with the joneses.
rooting
I recently got my G2x and after following the instructions for installing nvflash and CM recovery I began flashing many different ROMs. I had never done it before and instantly became an addict. My girlfriend who got hers on the same day kept hers stock. Her camera seems to be brighter, mine is faster with a lot less bloat. I did overclock my CPU which so far seems to work well with this phone.

It is worth rooting if for no other reason than to get all the bloat off. Try tsugi rom. It is super stable and lightning fast.
Just the ordinary stuff:
-adfree
-UV kernels
-set CPU
-battery calibration
Those alone are worth the root.
bloat
After having it overnight I can see the advantage of rooting to clean some of the autostart junk out of /system. A couple of times I've had it essentially lock up and the list of processes shown by ATK (when I can get to run) is insane.
Rooting isn't really required or hardly used. I DO use root explorer to make system changes and rom Manager if you crack flash.
But everyday stuff... Maybe titanium backup but I never used it either. Best to restore apps manually.
Most phones require root to install clockwork mod recovery. With Tegra devices you only need to nvflash which doesn't require root. Once you have a custom recovery you can flash roms and custom stuff without root.
So root isn't really important on the G2x unless you want to use a root required app.

I have my phone rooted and tight now only need root for two purposes: 1. I use App Quarantine to freeze unwanted system apps, and 2. I use SetCPU to underclock while the screen's off to save on battery use.
Subtle but important for my phone at least. It all depends on what you use your phone for. Rooting the G2x is pretty easy so it's simple enough to have it if you need it.
Got mine rooted and on CM7. Yes it depends on what you use it for and prefer. I like the custom options that CM7 provide like gestures and specific sound settings etc. In general you do get more freedom to do things and personalize, at the risk of messing it up if you are not careful.

Why are you using Advanced Task Killer?
Rooting can bring many nice things.
Such as better battery life, better phone performance, opening your phone up for countless customization options.
And a great benefit: no more waiting months and months for new firmware from T-Mobile, get the latest and greatest right away.
And that's just what iI know, I'm sure.there's many other ways.

Rooted my Tab, Now what!

Hello all, i rooted my tab today. Installed Superuser, Set CPU and Titanium backup. I froze a few of the pre loaded Samsung apps that came with the Tab. What other things can i do to speed up performance now that i am rooted? Any suggestions?? Thanks!
(Also if anyone else is currently using Set CPU on their Tab7 +, what settings work well for you? )

Which model? (There are at least 4 different ones.) Are you willing to give up battery life for that speed? What do you want to use your tablet for?

I have the Wi-Fi_GT-P6210. I guess my main issue with Set CPU is what are the limits i can go to without locking up the device. I have Set Cpu on my EVO 4g so i am familiar with it. I guess i was just seeing what advantages rooting gives me. I have my EVO rooted so i know the benefits on my phone, but what about the TAB. What apps can i remove without effecting performance. Thanks
If you want to overclock or undervolt, you'll need a custom kernel (see my sig.) At that point, you can OC to 1.4GHz. (I didn't include support for 1.6GHz has the processor in my own 7+ wouldn't stay stable at that speed, so I can't test it properly - it was also extremely easy for me to only add 1.4.) For voltages, you are also kind of going to have to experiment. I'm stable with 1300/1225/1125/1025/950/900 on my tab plus, but I can go much lower on my SGSII (which has the same processor.) You can search on the SGH-i9100 and SGH-i777 subforums for what other people have done with voltages.
As for which apps can be safely frozen, there's a post or two on that from a couple months back... I'd suggest searching for the full list. Nearly anything that looks like bloat really is.
I'd never suggest actually removing stuff - much better to just freeze it... then if you figure out that you really needed it, it's trivial to defrost it.
Good luck

[Q] Optimus 3d battery woes

Howdy Folks,
I'm new to these parts, but was hopin' to get some advice on my phone.
See, I recently bought an optimus 3d off a guy on kijiji, phone looked good, no scratches, everything in box, etc.
Here's the problem...the battery lasts about 6 hours in standby, and ,maybe 1-2 if I'm using it. (wifi, bluetooth, gps disabled, screen min bright)
Can't get LG to send me a battery as i don't have receipt, and would like to know if it's the battery's fault after all.
Here's why i'm suspicious - with 0 running applications (according to app manager widget) the phone's using more than half it's RAM, and about a third of its CPU (fluctuates around 20-40%)
under "running services" in app settings i have (tried turning all off):
sync service
power control service
android keyboard
Also when i tried running n64oid, it was slow and sluggish as heck, though it should run fine and dandy on my hardware - suggesting a phantom menace of sorts.
Folks have any idea if there's an issue on my phone, or if my battery's just garbage?
-Save me please!, I'd rather not go through the hassle of selling it.
*Oh, one more thing! - In standby the back gets fairly warm, is that normal?

update to latest firmware i.e gingerbread
can't, lg update thing says i have latest update (not from europe)
or is there a way to get around this? i'm a complete noob when it comes to android...(just found out what rooting was 2 days ago)
*nm figured it out, going to try v21b
I was using an extended battery and was still only getting a single day of use out of my O3D. For some reason, and I know how android works, the processes/apps running in the background really bog down the phone. I have had other devices and never had it as bad as my LG G2X and LG Optimus 3D. There has to be something wrong with how LG builds their version of Android. Anyway, it wasn't until I downloaded "Autokiller Memory Optimizer" that I saw a difference. You can set it to automatically kill apps to a set of presets. Meaning how many apps you are willing to let the phone run in the background. Even with the screen off. So I put my original battery back in and I am happy to say I am getting a full 24+ hours out of the old battery! The app is free in the market and there is a paid version too. Just try it and see what you think. I am no noob to the mod scene either. I am also not advertising here. Just letting my fellow O3D users in on what works for me. Right now I am running the acura rom with the 1.2ghz OC but I was using different freq. and they all work well with the Autokiller app.
hmm, well if it's still no good after v21b i might give it a try, though like i said i had nothing visibly running in background.
k, followed instructions as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
Phone's now completely toast, lg animation just keeps looping on boot.
-sigh
*did recovery mode, formatted/factory reset, rebooted with great sucess (took a while though)
however for some reason it appears as though my model number changed?
now its the p920
problem resolved, its been in standby for like 30 minutes and power's only dropped 1%

This is the Optimus 3D(p920) development sections and their threads.
oh, in canada the optimus 3d is p925g
I just joined this site to post here... I have this same p925g, same revision of firmware as the OP. I also have the exact same issue since I got this phone.
Basically always idling around %15-30 cpu usage, terrible battery life, nothing running or any extra apps.
Is there anything I can do? When I first got the phone I couldnt believe how bad it was, I think I have to rooted.. or super user... or at least whatever that odd menu is that I installed.
So I believe I can flash it to something, but when I was doing that there was nothing available (learnt from the cyanogenmod site) - but that was 4 months ago at least.
Anyhow, I watched the dumb video when I registred mentioning to specially post in a thread with a similar OP issue.
SO here I am, with ads on Kijiji to swap my 3D Android for a iPhone 4 (for the past 2 months lol) because I cannot stand the battery time.
I can literally kill my phone in an hour and 20 minutes lol. But the biggest problem is it can basically kill itself in 3 hours of use, just texting or what have you.. its pathetic.
I was hoping LG would release 4.0 (and supposedly will)... but I dont want their custom **** on my phone, for some reason the LG "Home" uses a crap load of battery life as it is, probably part of the problem.
Anyhow, My dad got a nexus 2 days ago with the fancy pants 4.0 and it makes my phone look like a nokia from 2004.
Im at my witts end, either I need a different os, a different phone. Or a custom battery pack idea...
thanks for any help |

Found that, 3500 VS the stock 1650 would more than double it, but still... that kinda a last resort band aid approach
I have the Rogers p925g too. The latest firmware we have is V10C, which is what it was released with here. With it, I was averaging about 8-10 hours of moderate use with mostly texting and internet.
Getting tired of Rogers and LG not releasing updates for us, I finally decided to root and put a custom rom, and it made a big difference to me. I had V21A Gingerbread running ThiaiZ V2.4, and got around 18-20 hours. I did end up having some network issues though, so I flashed back to Froyo and installed ThiaiZ V1.5.2. I'm at almost 14 hours now with 20% left, so it's still much improved over the stock V10C.

Try using a CM based ROM - they seem to have much better battery life.
Or if you need 3D, try using a GB Based rom - they have better battery life than froyo ones. Use a custom launcher like launcherpro, go launcher or adw - tehy use less battery than LGHome.
all i did was install v21b (for p920 it turns out) and my battery life is fine now (literally improved standby time by 3000%) , though i still only have around 170mb of ram available, and random applications seem to open for no reason (messaging, maps, google search, etc). plus i dont think it can be rooted.

Try the Thrill 4G Development Forums. There should be quite alot of ROMs there (No GB Though). I don't think P920 GB roms would work due to different basebands (Or at least the phone function won't).
stock v21a is working fine with my p925g. only thing is, after i upgraded i had to boot into recovery mode (holding those 3 buttons)and format/factory reset, then reboot. otherwise lg logo will just loop forever.
i'm gonna try that thai one, sounds like it's more lightweight ( good thing with only half a gig of ram)
I tried using a Thrill ROM (Doomed Froyo) on our p925g, and it installs a lot of AT&T bloatware (though you can delete those), but it also loses the setting of "Enable 2G networks only". I've been much happier with ThiaiZ's Froyo ROM from here.
I'd definitely suggest trying out the v21a or a custom GB ROM, and seeing if you have any data issues or not. Not everyone is having these problems though, so if you don't have them, then a GB ROM would be best, if not, then ThiaiZ's Froyo ROM would be a nice improvement over stock.
Hi guys, Sorry to bump in between a dicussion, but i really need your help.. I am planning to get a new dual core cellphone but i am confused between o2x and o3d.. I wanna go in favour of o3d, but the reviews say that battery back up is really bad. Is it really that bad? whats the maximum battery backup i would get in moderate usage? And also I am a gamer and will b hoping to do a lot of gamin in ma cell.. soplease suggest me which one i should go for.

[Q] Top Rom for galaxy s4 gt-i9500

Hey guys, so recently my phone started to heat up real easily so i decide to open it up and apply some thermal paste on a few chips. I could feel that it did run a bit cooler. But still wasn't good enough, i have played with my phone a lot when i first purchased it and probably messed up stuff that weren't suppose to be messed up. So i was thinking of doing a clean wipe, so im like why not also download a rom after the wipe. So now I'm wondering which roms are the best in terms of features and hardware setting adjustment(gpu and cpu clock speed). I found a few online but I have no idea if they're even good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232887
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295673
But i would appreciate it if you guys would link me a few good roms that would match my description above.

Iview 420TPC-TW Rom an bootloader support help

I everyone,
A wile back I bought an IVIEW 420TPC-WT and its a nice little device for tinkering but its slow and unstable out of the box. I was able to install Nova launcher and no-frills cpu on it and it ran better but the stock rom is terrible and the device runs out of its 512 Mb ram quickly. The apps crash and the devices freezes. Even my HTC Incredible runs better than this.
Does anyone know how to make a good working and light weight rom with possibly a custom boot loader for it?
There is already root that works great. Apps are starting to not run on it anymore due to its limitations. Its fast but the stock rom does not handle the hardware correctly.
I don't mind testing anything if it helps others with similar questions.
