Has anyone compare the battery drain of ViperS 3.1.2 and Newest CM10.2 with PMEM ?
I've heard that CM10.2 with PMEM is really smooth, but do not know the battery condition ?

you have to see that by yourself
for everyone's device battery is acting differently in every rom
it is also depends from your personal usage and what settings you are going to apply(cpu/gpu overclock, undervoltage etc)
I tried CM 10.2 AOSP with 4.3 Jelly Bean (no PMEM) and battery drain was really painful! ViperS worked much better for me.
Now testing Pac-Man's 05/09/2013 build, power consumption doesn't seem too much different from CM 10.2 AOSP...

The best ROM i tried since now is ViperS 3.1.2 with Sense 4+
Do not abuse in changing theme/icon pack/keyboard skin because my phone became laggish soon.

Looks good. So the ROM can withstand a whole day without need of charging which is perfect for me
I just flashed again ViperS 3.1.2. Till now, best ROM ever. Still waiting for a CM or PA with better RAM management and slower battery drain.
.....
CM10.2 with PMEM is really smooth
AOSP will never be as battery efficient as sense roms purely because it doesn't have the closed source drivers from HTC. And the biggest battery drainer on our phone is the brightness.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
Hello everyone,
To really see and really test the battery, I think we already looking beyond the week of use. Then ONLY CALIBRATION for a ROM, it is not at all necessary to do this several times if you are on a ROM that has already been calibrated.
In most cases the original kernel is chosen for its stability. It may be that there have bugs, but we'll see later. The Vipers (I would say) despite its high frequency min and max processor settings , I think it is really stable. My battery took almost 24 hours to Max, I use my HTC original battery. So when I see people say that such and such a ROM down the battery, its normal.
This is not directly after installing that u check the efficiency of the battery.
C u Later!!!

Hi everyone, before you find that Download link here are a few things I want to say. First of all this is a great ROM and has been tested by myself and a few other member of XDA as well as a lot of users on MIUI official forum (more about this ROM below). I DO NOT take any credit for either the finding of this ROM nor am I claiming I have made it. I am simply posting it in the section because it was not getting enough views and replies that it deserves, since this is the best MIUI Jellybean ROM I have used on my Sensation.
Here is the link to the thread where I have found out about this, I think member hkhs10811 deserves your thanks and not me. This is why I have not included a download link in this thread, please do me a favor and go over to his/her thread and show some support If you want to post bugs here, please note that the Dev will not be notified.

I am aware that the MIUI posts are in Chinese, so here is a brief translation for those who are wondering.
Flash ROM instructions:
Go to recovery
Select Wipe|format
Select Wipe data|factory reset
Select format all partitions (except sdcard)
Then flash ROM like normal
Some disclaimer which I am going to leave out, we all know what it is about.
About the ROM:
CM version was created using patchrom (I am not sure what patchrom is, anyhow...)
CM is bruce2728's [ROM][CM10][Kang][Pyramid][4.1.2][09 JAN]
Change Logs:
3.18 (I this maybe a typo, should be 3.1.18?)
Updated to MIUI offical 1.18
Fixed MIUI call recorder
Updated CM10 base
3.1.25
Updated to MIUI offical 1.25
No OTA this week, because after OTA can't charge (looking for source of the problem)
Kept some MIUI app
3.2.1
Updated to MIUI offical 2.1
Camera replaced to 4.2, fixed theme, removed stock gallery
"About phone" in settings, has been fixed, no longer shows internal storage as 0
3.2.8
Updated to MIUI offical 2.8
(The Dev has stated thanks to a number of people include Bruce and MIUI.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A brief review:
I have used this ROM for 2 days now, here are my current thought. If I find anything out later will post it here too.
This ROM is in English for those who are wondering. Although there are some missing translation e.g. "USB debug" in notification. Some of the font is a little weird, however this should be easy to fix.
No stock google apps such as "play store", but you can easily get your hands on a copy somewhere.
"Google Talk" app is not included and you can't install it like other google apps, I fixed this by doing a backup of the app on Bruce's ROM then restore it on this one. Maybe do this before you flash, just to save some of your time.
Some screen flickering here and there, nothing worth complaining about
Weather app only works for cities in China. Although this is not a ROM problem, more MIUI problem
The physical search button doesn't seem to be bounded to anything, might just be the apps I am using.
Other stuff I found out:
Force GPU render in "Development" makes animation smoother
Overall this ROM feels smooth, I haven't encountered a FC yet nor a reboot. From what I can see all the apps are working as expected. Some translation are missing on themes but doesn't affect the experience too much, you kinda could guess what it means with out knowing Chinese. I haven't tested the battery properly, will post a screenshot later on when I have done it properly. The battery life for this ROM is very disappointing compared to Sense ROM like Viber, and worse than Bruces's ROM in my mind. However I haven't got any hard stats to prove this, maybe try Sultan and see if it is any better (what i am doing right now).
I encountered less FC (The FC on Bruce's ROM occurs when I pull down notification on lock screen sometimes it causes FC and needs to reboot to fix it.) on this ROM than other Jellybean ones, I definitely recommend this ROM from what I have seen. But I haven't tested Camera, Bluetooth or similar "buggy-areas" because I don't use them much, there may well exist bugs or problems. The thing is if it exist on Bruce's ROM my guess would be it is in this as well.
I can confirm this is a great ROM. Very smooth, although I'm missing the dutch language which is a pity. It might be handy to put up some screenshots of the ROM.

Sultan kernel is good on battery life and bad in terms of performance? Most users share the opposite opinion
Last time I tried it, it was very good in performance but the battery life was like a taximeter lol.
What config do you have for low performance? What governor are you using? Memory Minfree presents? (through kernel tuner) ?
Let us know, I have it actually really fast, but the battery.. meh lol.
My config: Governor: on demand.
Kernel: sultan latest as I'm writting.
Mpdecision on.
vsync on.
fsync off (default).
Minfree presents: Agressive II (Less lag or non at all).
No zram / hard swap / soft swap. Just this and no issues.
Take care, let us know

I have selected everything default, apart from Governor which I chose Badass, It lags as hell and got to the point I said screw it and flashed back to the stock kernel Now everything is smooth again, going to give it a full charge and see how long it lasts tomorrow. Will also monitor it with CPU spy, my phone is kept awake a lot maybe that is why battery gets drained so quickly.

Thanks.. yesterday I installed CWM recovery provided by you then I wiped battery stats from there, then I charged my phone keeping it in off state and to my surprise it charged fully showing 100% in 4 hrs. time.. then I switched on my phone it shows 89% charged now I am waiting for it to get charged 100% so that I can wipe battery stats again.. btw lewa os has a battery caliberation under power save app which only allows to caliberate battery when it is 100% charged. There are signs of things getting normal with battery caliberation though, I will report back the result as soon as I get it.. Thanks
report soon if you do find an solution..

 My battery now performing normally on a full charge it gives 1.5 days with moderate use.. Initially I full charged my battery (with 4200 voltage showing in battery caliberation app) then I let my phone fully drain the battery till it auto shut off then again full charging it keeping the phone off then letting it dry out with moderate use .. this I did for three times and now noticing considerable good change in battery performance. Though it takes more than 7-8 hrs. for full charge from complete dry out. I have a normal battery backup now with more time to charge it (It takes more time to charge when it is on with data enabled over wifi or sim data).. still better than before I am ok with it now :good:

For several days I'm on ViperS 3.1.4. It's my second custom rom and I find it great because of smoothness and battery life. I also haven't found any bug so far. But reading about ViperS 5.0.0 I'm so curious about it. Do you advise me to switch to it or wait till Venom Tweaks will be added?
VierpS 5.0.0 is great !
I use ViperS 5.0.0 since the realise date and i love it. Its super smooth. You should try it. If you love tweaks you will miss them for sure but Team Venom is working on it so it's just a matter of time
Have you tried 3.1.x before? If yes, then what is the comparison in terms of battery life?
I didnt use it because it was relised almost at the same time as 5.0.0 and I decided to use this one first. I have read whole 5.0.0 thread and people are very optimistic about battery life and smoothness Few guys have some lags due to apps on sd card but generally all say its great
Example
Yesterday i relflashed the rom with full wipe. Now i have 16% of battery. I use Anker 1900 mAh. CPU @ 1296 [email protected] and my phone is running 26th hour with 2.5h on screen, 0.5 h of phone calls, 13h of wifi. And i flash a rom on this charging wich used some enrgry.
Thanks for info so probably in next few days i will switch to 5.0.0. Hopefully i won't be forced to go back to 3.1.4 that is superb rom in many aspects. So if 5.0.0 is better even only in battery life than i will give a try.
I switched from 3.1.4 to 5.0.0 and I find it great. Battery life is amazing. Two things that I hope can be changed in future versions are:
1. More customisation of Blinkfeed
2. Jetcet Print capability for mail widget.

I'm using 3.1.4 right now. I have tried 5.0.0 and its a very good rom, but has no Tweaks and i have some issues playing games on it. Everything else is smooth and stable ill try it again when everything in Tweaks works.
I also tried ViperS 5.0.0 and finally switched back to 3.1.4. When the Tweaks are implemented in ViperS 5.1.0 i will return to this nice Blinkfeed :victory:

For several days I'm on ViperS 3.1.4. It's my second custom rom and I find it great because of smoothness and battery life. I also haven't found any bug so far. But reading about ViperS 5.0.0 I'm so curious about it. Do you advise me to switch to it or wait till Venom Tweaks will be added?

All credits to this rom's creator(s) and original sources. Non-kexec roms need you to be on ICS kernel to work, so JB leak rom users beware!
This rom doesn't have the 1% battery hack, but it's really not hard to work with.
This spot is reserved!
Slim, fast, and smooth..noticed it's missing the 1 percent battery mode though..would love to have it too
Oopz missed that in the op

I keep switching ROM. I am in love with this ROM, it is fast, smooth, and filled with enough features to get me by. Only problems that I am having is that there is no 1% battery mod, which isn't the end of the world. Also i was wondering how do I get the minimal amount of UI tearing?

Yeah, the lack of 1% battery is annoying because there are several of my ports that have it and it's hard to add without breaking something. -_-
As for minimal ui tear, if you haven't already done this for any rom you can go to Developer Options, scroll down to where you see Transition and Window scale. Set those two to .5 then lastly, you tick the 'Force 4x MSAA' option and that should do it. Good luck and enjoy all the new ports!:good:

Man, I just love the fact that you always respond super quickly. Thanks! that seemed to help! And ya it kind of sucks that if you mess with something that might cause another problem, but it isn't the end of the world, battery life though seems awesome! Glad i switched.
Boot looping
First of all, Thanks for this wonderful rom :good: :victory:
Smooth and battery saver
Now some issues I faced (Installed on system 4)
1. No Battery 1% mod, but thats not a big problem, you can install battery widget by Pedro Maicas from play store for correct battery status.
2. Wifi tether has some issue, its not turning on. So I installed wifi fix and it boot loops. I guess that fix was for CM 11 only.
thats all for now. I'll let you know more once I reinstall it tomorrow

Heya, sorry about your current softbricking but that patch is definitely not universal lol. However, read this post about the same issue you're experiencing that someone else has. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50262626

Whoa, I thought that would only work with kexec only roms, thanks a ton for letting me and everyone know it does!
You'll have to stick with that app as in-call volume adjustment is a problem in most of our roms, hence that's why that app was made.
FYI, I have NO idea how it works as I'm not a developer and only work with already-built roms.

Yes, I only use custom ROM's. Right now I'm using MIUI, the battery on MIUI is good but on PRism and Ozcan it's phenomenal!
I've attached some screenshots of my battery usage. MIUI I can go 18-24hrs before needing to charge. On Prism and Ozcan it's not uncommon for me to go well over a day
Great. ..but I am not on custom rom...on official Kitkat

Maybe it's time to try a custom ROM bud

Warrantee depends on your country from what I gather. Here in South Africa the Samsung centre just looks to see if you have Official in your status page. So before I sent my phone in I just made a TWRP backup. Flashed a stock ROM via Odin and sent it in.
My phone has been in twice, once for new mainboard and once for a new screen. All done under warrantee with Knox tripped too.
If you are running the latest kitkat NH4 stock ROM you should be getting very good battery usage.

From my testing I have found the CM11 based ROM's are the ones with battery issues and call quality issues.
All the TW based ROM's like Prism and Uncharted have no such issues.
Ozcan's ROM has some issues but those more the fault of the S5 ported apps than anything else. I think he has managed to iron out almost all the issues, he has even given us a working Ultra Power Saving mode ported from the S5.
Try them out and see if they work for you. I would start with Uncharted as it's lightly debloated so you will feel at home coming from stock TW.

All the 4.4.4 ROM's are based on CM11 and as I stated are not perfect and have issues like poor battery life, call quality, bluetooth and OTG etc etc. I wouldn't recommend any as you yourself said you been staying away from custom ROM's because of the many problems.
There are many good TW 4.4.2 ROM's available here]/URL]
I would suggest try your hand at Uncharted or Arrow or Omega as these are close to stock ROM's.
I can't tell you which is best that is something you need to find out for yourself, so try them all and see
