Rooting phone from CWM 5.0.2.7 - Samsung Galaxy Fit GT 5670

I flashed CWM 5.0.2.7 via Odin, but I have not rooted it before. How can I root it now? To extract zip file and copy files to corresponding ones? I want to flash ROM. Please help me.:crying:

Flash any custom ROM through CWM. It doesn't require root :good:

OK, it doesn't require root, but I tried every Android 4 ROM and nothing. I just want to have rooted phone on Gingerbread 2.3.6. How can I do that?

Solved it!

do i have to Clockwordmod flash it first then root the phone?
Yea, first flash clockworkmod with nvflash and then flash the root zip file from jboxer's thread. Reboot and your stock rom will be rooted.
then i should be able to flash any rom correct

Exactly correct. No need to root first. That zip is for those who want to keep their stock rom and just root it.
If you want to flash another rom, then no need to root first. Just nvflash cwm and flash roms to your heart's content.
so i dont even have to root the phone to flash the rom? i can just nvflash and then flash the rom?

Yes and Yes. If you flash a rooted rom then it will be rooted. CWM runs a mini OS, not the full OS, so rooting is not an issue when you are in CWM. Clockworkmod always runs fully rooted.

You are on stock recovery if you get the !
You probably mistakenly flash the stock recovery before you flash the repacked ROM.
Easiest thing to do now is install CWM recovery again.
Download a stock firmware from Asus website and flash it with CWM recovery.
That will put you at stock firmware, unrooted and stock recovery.

What CWM version are you using? If its the lastest from Roach, it only flashes from the internal memory, not from sd card.

and i have a question can i install a rom with a stock recovery
You'll need a custom recovery to install a ROM. Follow these instructions and you'll be good to go:
Harbb said:
Delete or rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and flash CWM one last time. It'll stick. Each boot, stock ROMs reflash the stock recovery unless you delete/rename that file.

[Q] do I need ROOT to install a custom ROM?

My i815 is on its way to SAMSUNG repair in texas. I tried to root it to install a custom rom and ended up in a bootloop. I did try a bunch of stuff to try and fix it.
Anyways, I have been reading up in the forums and am getting a bit confused:
Do I even NEED to be rooted to install a Custom ROM? Do I just need to install CWM from ODIN (bootloader? or pda?, confused there as well). And then install the ROM I want from within CWM (install from external zip)...
Or, is the i815 so "special" that it requires root?
THX!

I thought it was different for the P68xx and the i815? Can someone with a i815 confirm? If I don't HAVE to root, and all I need is CWM falshed through Odin (PDA), then install zip from CWM, I may try again.
Thx!!!

[Q] [i815] CWM flashable version of the latest stock Verizon ROM with root?

I have an Verizon GT7.7 [i815] and would like to go back to the stock ROM, but I'd like to keep root and Clockwork recovery. I would also like to just flash the stock version via Clockwork recovery. Is there a copy of the latest stock ROM that is flashable with CW?
