I have bought a i9305t with a broken screen through a private sale. After connecting it to a working screen, I discover a few strange problems:
1. I can't get the phone into download mode or recovery mode by the normal key combinations. So I can't do any factory reset.
2. The phone can power up, but it stops at a log in screen requesting a pin input, although when I asked the previous owner about it, he said he never had set up any locking pins.
3. In that pin-entering mode, when I connect the phone to my PC (windows 7), the PC recognise the connection and displayed a i9305t in windows explorer, but the explorer can't show any content details of the phone. When I run the Odin with the phone in this mode, the COM window changes colour, but any attempts to flash any tar file stops at 'SetupConnection..' step, and after a while, it comes back with a 'FAIL!'.
4. I have a usb jig, and with that, I can force the phone in download mode. However, when the phone is in that mode, Odin doesn't recognise the connection at all when I plug the phone in, so I can't do any flashing in that mode.
So I am totally stuck! I thought about going through ALL the pin combinations to try to unlock the phone (assuming the pin is a 4 digit number). After spending one and a half hours to go from '0000' to '0500', I thought this is rediculous! There must be a better way! So I hope some guru out there would be able to help me, as I have exhausted all my tricks (which is not that many!).
If anyone can show me a way to get around my problems, it would be most appreciated!!!

Problems solved! Well, most of them anyway. I found I got the wrong usb driver on my PC. After updating with the correct Samsung usb driver, I could connect to Odin, thus I could flash a CWM recovery rom, so I could do a factory reset.
However, after the phone has booted up, for some reason, I found the IMEI is missing, so I couldn't connect to any network when I insert my sim card. I don't know how that happened. Can anyone help me with that? Many thanks.

OK, so here's the issue. I have an HTC Desire C. It's my girlfriends so I don't know the OS version. I replaced the Touch Digitizer because it was shattered (it did respond to touches though). Now that its replaced it seems to respond to touches but not correctly. I can't get it to swipe the lock screen out of the way. It's as if it is not calibrated correctly. So I'm stuck on the lock screen.
I want to run ADB so I can figure out if its registering touch events correctly, and also try and send them over ADB. But, being my girlfriends phone, she never enabled "USB Debugging". When I hook the phone to the computer, I don't see it showing up as a unknown device in windows Device manager (VISTA). I know it works, cause I tried it with my Nexus S and that shows up. I know the steps are first find it in device manager then manually select the driver as the ADB interface, I've had this working on my Nexus S. But the issue is that it doesn't show up at all in Device manager, and I assume its because USB debugging is off. I tried turning off USB debugging on my Nexus S, hooked it to my computer, and it doesn't show up either. So it seems like that is the issue.
I tried to boot into recovery (power button + volume down), then went into fastboot, connected the phone to the comp again, but it still does not show up.
Below are some of the other things I have tried, but they still brought me no luck:
I have tried installing HTC sync so I get the HTC drivers on my computer, but it doesn't even show up in HTC's software (In fact, it does not show up as a storage device either, I assume cause you have to accept the notification on the phone, but I can't use the phones UI at all). I tried moving the HTC drivers into c:\windows\system32 and it still does not show up. I then tried rebooting the phone and my computer. Still does not show up. It seems like windows isn't even reading the phone as a USB device. Tried swapping USB cables (both work with my nexus s), and still nothing. Is there something I am missing?
Any help would be much appreciated, this is driving me crazy.
Also, after replacing the digitizer, if I first boot into the phone and then hit the power button, I don't get the content window that allows you to choose "reboot", "shutdown", etc. The only thing I can do is hold it for 15 seconds and the thing turns off. I'm hoping this is because I never passed the lock screen for the first time. I'm hoping this is not an indicator that I screwed something up when I opened the phone. I've had my Nexus S open plenty of times.
Another guy had same issue. here
Try that.

Yea let us know if it works

I can't get the phone to show up when I type "fastboot devices" or "adb devices". I have tried this from the lock screen, from the bootloader, from the bootloader and in fastboot mode. That is my critical problem now. Cable is actual data cable, and I'm using USB port on back of a desktop computer. Is there anything else that could be causing the phone to not be recognized?
Ok, so I have been having a very annoying issue(s) recently with my SGH-I997R, ( Firmware version 2.3.3, Baseband version I997RUXKG3, Kernel Ver: 2.6.32.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622)
This all started out of the blue about a month ago, I used to connect my phone to my PC all the time for transferring items via Mass Storage, and then on day when I went to connect it to my same PC, I got " USB Device Not Recognized". It will charge the phone but will not connect or show any option on the phone to connect. I have tried 2 Samsung cables and a generic Micro USB cable, No change. I tried connecting to my laptop, same issue. I re-downloaded the drivers from Samsung onto both my usual PC and Laptop, no change. Very very frustrating.
Other issues, I don't know if their related in any way but they all started at the same time.
a) if I place my phone in airplane mode i cannot get it out of that mode without rebooting my phone
b) if i shut my phone down (doesn't matter if battery shows 100% or 25%) I cannot get the phone to turn on without plugging in the USB cable.
c) When I leave my phone charging overnight and look at it in the morning, battery shows 100% but also shows "NO SERVICE" , I reboot the phone with the cable still connected, service restored.
IF anyone has had these issues Especially the connecting to PC issue, Please PLEASE help. I am going nuts. And of course this all happened 3 months after the warranty expired, so both Rogers and Samsung will not help without $$$$$.
have you tried to back up your data, take out any micro sd card and perform a factory reset under /settings/privacy/reset ?
or open it up and look inside for any problems like corrosion?

I have done a factory reset numerous times from both the /settings/privacy/reset, and from booting it up holding the volume keys and doing a reset that way.
And I have had my phone since day one in a Ballistic Hard Core Series case, I take it out once a week to ensure its clean and free of dust/moisture (I work in construction so I try to keep it a clean as possible.) and my phone still looks like its brand new.
Thanks for the response though,
Update:
So just as an update for anyone out there who may be able to assist me with this very annoying issue, the Phone is still doing the same things, and since the last post i've also replaced the battery to see if for some strange reason it might help.
But to no avail.
As well I dont think i mentioned that this phone is rooted. I want to try unrooting it to see if that will correct the issue, but with not being able to connect the phone via usb to the computer, I have NO IDEA on how I can accomplish this. Any help???
I have an extreme problem with my Nexus. I've been through thick and thin with this phone, and I'm hoping you guys will help with a solution to this problem.
The power button to my Nexus is broken completely. I stabbed it so much that the clicking black part is completely removed from the slot (on the motherboard).
One time, my Nexus S died, and I realized I had no way to turn it back on. I tried every single method (battery pulling, button pressing, USB connecting, etc) with no answer. I finally was able to find a solution. I used Odin to restore the bootloader tar md5 file, and thus auto rebooting the nexus (when the box is checked). This worked like a charm, until I realize I made a fatal mistake.
I chose an md5 file for the ORIGINAL Nexus S (not 4g).
I was able to easily go into recovery with Quick Boot from the Play Store. I installed Raspbean Jellybean (02-05-13 build), but the installation was very faulty. The home button is nonfunctional (it vibrates when pressed, but nothing happens) and Browser is not working as it just closes itself instantly. Like an idiot, I didn't install Gapps before rebooting into the ROM.
Stuck in that dilemma, I used the built in email app to sync my Gmail account to the phone. I sent a Quick Boot APK to myself to try and open so I could reach recovery, but it said there's no type of program that can open that file (maybe because Gapps isn't installed).
The last thing I tried was Odin again. I tried to restore the ICS release keys, but Odin will not recognize my phone anymore for nothing. I tried 3 different USBs (2 with shorts, and 1 normal one. I don't know if the type of USB has anything to do with it). Nothing.
So here I am with a faulty, Gappless ROM on my Nexus S 4G with a completely broken power.
I'm wondering if you guys have any solution/suggestion to get Odin to recognize my phone again so I can restore it and work from there.
Apart from that, ANY solution to this problem is highly acceptable and greatly appreciated (ways to get into recovery, etc). I don't want this to be the last of me and my sweet ole Nexus =(,
Thanks x1000 XDA!
Hey Guys. I was actually able to reach recovery, because the ROM I'm using has a Power Menu widget in it's quick settings (Go Figure). But my phone is still unable to be recognized by Odin in Download mode. The phone is also not recognized by my pc at all. It only charges, no matter what USB I try. I even tried mounting in recovery, no go.
Please help. Thanks!
Out of nowhere my S6 stopped working. Each time I restart my phone it gets stuck on the "LTE Plus" screen. I need to figure out a way to retrieve my pictures/videos. I didn't back them up. I checked my Samsung, Google, and One Drive accounts. Below is a list of things I can still do on my phone and things I've attempted. Let me know if you have any ideas.
1. I can soft restart my phone
2. I can restart it into download and bootloader mode
3. I can not start it up in safe mode
4. I wiped cache partition
5. I can connect it to my laptop via USB but it only shows as a bluetooth device. It does not show any options to open up files. The phone was not debugged prior to the phone breaking.
6. I've tried trial versions of Fone Lab and 2-3 other similar programs. Each time with no luck.
Would love to hear your thoughts or ideas. I really don't want to lose these pictures/videos. Thanks!
Hi
I've been browsing the forum to find some help, but nothing matches exactly my situation and it is stumping me.
Have one plus 7 pro GM1913, attempted to install the latest update today that was pushed to my phone a few days back and set the phone down with charger cable attached and then look back at it and the screen is back at the security code entry tap my code and then back to booting, then black screen.
Attempted all manner of the key combos to get into the different reboot, fastboot modes, occasionally would get back to the loading screen which would then freeze with occasionally distorted graphics (one plus logo).
And now after a bit of charging (phone doesnt indicate it is charging at all) can't even get it back to the crashdump screen I could get to.
Crashdump screen didnt indicate any errors.
So i've been looking into possibly trying to trying to unbrick it with msmdownload tool. I have managed to install the qualcomm drivers, i believe i have the right version of the msmdownload tool.
However when i try attach my phone to the pc it keeps disconnecting all the time, my running theory is the phone is on and running through the boot sequence but I can't see it, but each time it disconnects then reconnects etc. Anyway I can't maintain a connection long enough to attempt msmdownload tool.
I also can't seem to boot my phone into EDL mode, following the below instructions:
Power off the phone.
Plug in the USB cable your computer but do not connect the other end to the phone.
Hold down Volume Up and Volume Down buttons for a few seconds, and plug in the cable while you are continuing to hold them.
You should see the anticipated EDL mode.
I am a complete beginner at this, but considered myself relatively tech savy enough to give things a go, but there is the old adage about knowing enough to be dangerous! Any help is appreciated.

I actually start the MSM tool ,wait until it boots up, position my cursor close to the start button on the tool, then I connect my phone to cable make sure it's attached to both PC and phone , put phone in edl ( hold power button and both vol up and vol down at same time) phone should go blank and you should see a connect on the MSM tool, hit start,,,, hth
My phone appears completely blank anyway, i've left it off charge overnight and then attempted to charge this morning, no real change. I've got no indication if the phone is charging or not or if it is even on.
When I connect via usb to my pc it is connecting and disconnecting constantly. I can't see anything via the screen.
What should edl mode on the phone look like?
Prior to this update there were never any issues with the phone, so im pretty sure it is connected to the update, just dont know how it has even wrecked the bootmodes etc
