Hi everyone, I'm quite new to this forum (well posting ofc). So if I did anything wrong please instead of giving insulting replies which will teach me nothing, just PM or remind me here. I'll appreciate it.
After I got my GNote and flashed AmniX's Custom Rom, I wanted something else as bootanimation.
Since i'm a major AC Fan, I have decided to port the bootscreen I've used from my Animus PC Interface and put it here.
Screenshot IS Located at the Attachments
This bootanimation will work with any kernal that supports it.
But this will NOT work with ROMs that uses .qmg file as their bootanimation instead of a .zip file. (eg. Stock ROM)
WARNING - DO NOT FLASH THIS IN RECOVERY
Steps in installing:
1. Download the zip file,
2. Copy the zip file into your internal storage of your phone or the external SD card.
3. Using a root explorer or browser, navigate to system/media
4. Make a backup of your bootanimation.zip located in there (Just InCase it does not work for you) and remove it from the system/media folder. - IMPORTANT
5. Copy the bootanimation.zip that you have downloaded into system/media
6. After you have copied the zip file into system/media, change the permission of the zip file to rw-r--r-- (thanks projeto56 for mentioning)
7. Reboot and enjoy your new bootscreen.
Just a heads up, IF the bootscreen did not work, you will have a BLACK SCREEN during bootup, its nothing and it will still be running, just without an animation displaying there.
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPEN TO YOUR PHONE. READ THE INSTRUSTION CAREFULLY BEFORE DOING IT.
Nice one
You should also mention about the permissions of the bootanimation file. They should be rw-r--r--

Hey awesome work
Just wondering what about the boot up sound ?
Is it not present ?
Or is it just my issue ?
Note n7000 - Carbon ROM v1.8
I think it has a cm kernel by default being a AOSP ROM

There were no boot sound since I don't know what to put there, so its not just you, I guess its everyone
Thanks for the credits. I appreciate it
Also the speed is the same (its around the speed of the gif file), if you want it slower I will need to redo the entire bootanimation again.
Nope, i like it... Was just curious that's all :thumbup:
Good job
Btw the abstergo spelling is misspelled
In the animation text shows absterbo :what:

I see a lot of ppl that are on custom roms that would like stock animation and sound back. So i figured i would share this. I take no credit for this. Im just simply rewriting and summarizing what i found over in the Stratosphere section on rootzwiki. Credit goes to icebear for finding the files and to buffaloquinn for posting what to do with them. You can find that thread here
Download stock files here
In Root Explorer (or other file manager)
Navigate to /system/media/
(change to R/W)
In /system/media/
Rename bootsamsung.qmg -> bootsamsung.bak
Rename bootsamsungloop.qmg -> bootsamsungloop.bak
Copy bootani.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg (from wherever you have them) to the /system/media/ directory
Rename bootani.qmg -> bootsamsung.qmg
In /system/etc/
Replace the PowerOn.wav file with stock Droid version (If your on infinity rom or another rom that doesnt have boot sound. Then just add the wav file to the /system/etc/ directory)
Change back to R/O
Reboot to the Droid animation
Nice job writing it up but lol that dang boot sound is the first thing I kill. I either edit it out or replace it.
Thanks! Sound is optional though. I just figured i would include how to do it all. If anybody doesn't want any sound then just delete the .wav file in the directory.
Im running tweakstock 1.4 and the audio changed but the animation did not

Are you running the latest pbj kernel? If so, go into /system/media and delete "sanim. Zip".

Well, they're different devices so my tentative answer is no. But we're not going to stop you, so if you want to try it, be my guest. You'd probably get much better feedback in your own forum.

Those are universal boot animation type I think. Do a search of the entire site for boot animations.

Can anybody direct my to a good thread on how to use jrummy's boot animation app? Or a good thread on changing boot animations period? Thanks everyone.
Changing boot animations is easy
1) Get a root explorer app (es file explorer is free and you can enable root under settings)
2) download boot animation
3) paste it in /system/media using the root explorer
4) make sure the name matches the previous one
5) make sure the permissions are rw, r, r
6) reboot and enjoy

Thanks much. So there isn't an app that will do this?

So in step 4 do I make sure it has the exact same name as the previous or just the same suffix? And how do I change permissions on it?

trey...you have to read the advice given.
read mg's instruction again.
review this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437548
there is a lot of info there...may need to read it several times
I've read and applied all the steps as written but still am just getting the Samsung then nothing where the at&t bootanim used to be..
Be Real or Don't Be
Permissions are typically RW,R,R aka Read Write, Read, Read
most ROMs have the animation named as bootanimation.zip, but some are sanim.zip
Also...many people have difficulty changing animations on rooted stock...I suspect it has something to do with the kernel
Lastly...idk about any apps that can change the boot animation for you...but they probably do exist...
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
Mg.. You are correct. The stock kernel does not run the service that plays these boot animations.

Hello guys,
I want to change the Andromadus CM10.1 (build 12) bootanimation with the R2D2 bootanimation in this link (http://androidbootanimation.com/category/800x480-boot-animations/page/2/)
I have renominated the stock bootanimation.zip in bootanimation_old.zip and copied the one from the site in /system/media and renominated bootanimation.zip
Although it seems I have done something wrong because when i reboot the phone I get stock "Android" bootanimation in boot. I have read many threads but it seems that apart from sense rom, the procedure is just the same.
Is there anyone that can help sort it out?
Thank you
Use a file explorer (such as ES) select the file's "Properties" and change the Permissions to RW-R-R

Hi guys I have tried to get the stock international note 3 bootanimation along with the stock boot animation sound of the international note 3. I have tried on mine and it works ok. Remember to make a backup copy of the files you will replace in case you something happen or you dont want it.
Directions
1. Unzip the folder
2. Copy the bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, bootsamsungminiloop.qmg on system/media folder ( Make sure you correct the permission)
3. Copy the PowerOn.ogg on system/media/audio/ui (Make sure the permission is correct)
4. Reboot and no more At&t Crap bootanimation
UPDATE: Added shutdown animation of stock international
1. Unzip the folder
2. Copy the shutdown.qmg to system/media folder Make sure the permission is correct (now on at&t just removed the shutdownloop.qmg not sure if that file is present on t-mo but you can remove it or just transfer it to your sd card)
3. Reboot and you wont have the loop circle animation when you shutdown your device
Thank you sinichi21! Works perfectly. Finally rid of the last att crapware on my Straight Talk device.

I don't have T-mo but I added on the op the shutdown animation of stock international you can try it and see
Verified that this does not trip Knox!
Thank you sir! I was trying to get rid of the AT&T boot animation before through Rom Toolbox but it just made my lockscreen flash on/off. This is a cleaner solution.
I opted to not use the sound file, but renamed the stock one to PowerOn.bak and now I have a silent boot.
Thanks!

Yes it sure does if you install the shut down portion mentioned in the OP, works like a charm. Thanks a lot for this!!!!

Works great on my Verizon Note 3. The stock bootanimation was bright enough to sear retinas and induce seizures. Thanks for sharing this

Long press the .apk you just pasted and select PERMISSIONS and make sure you change permissions to match the original such as rw-r--r-- in this case. Make sure you do this for each .apk you paste so it matches permissions for the apk you are replacing.
wow it works awesome.. I just tried it on my bro's note 3.. thank u very much...
Wow thanks for the post, always thought this would be a little trickier. Don't know why people risk flashing "unknown" .zips to try and do this when all you gotta do is move a few files around but I digress. Thanks again for telling us the correct files, and for the ones you gave us it works perfect

As a quick side note, for anyone wanting to ditch boot sounds, the 'poweron.ogg' file can be renamed to 'nopoweron.ogg' or even removed to avoid boot sounds with any animation

Hello guys, do you want to take your android device to a higher level? Go grab this boot animation. This is my all-time favorite boot animation which I am going to share with you. I don’t remember from where I had downloaded this, so sorry for invalid credits. If you are the one then please comment with your link to the post.
FOR HDPI DEVICES (480x854)
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING AND DON'T BLAME ME OR XDA FOR BOOTLOOPS
STEPS:
1. Download the file from below.
2. Open root explorer (download from play store).
3. Go to /system/media and paste the file there.
4. Extract bootaudio.zip and Copy bootaudio.mp3 to /system/media (check if a file with same name exists there)
Or
Extract PowerOn.zip and copy poweron.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui (check if a file with same name exists there)
5. Fix the permition of poweron.ogg to rw-r-r
6. Reboot
7. Enjoy
TAKE A SECOND TO SAY ‘THANKS’
Animation is beautiful. Working on Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-i9082. ? But there is no sound. Is it because I have copied bootaudio.mp3 & PowerOn.ogg to their respective folders. Will the sound effect work if I remove one file. Suggest me which one to remove!?

First of all check if you have extracted bootsound.mp3 from bootsound.zip (downloaded file).
For some samsung based roms, delete the poweron.ogg from audio folder and keep the bootaudio.mp3 in system/media/

No didn't get any popup! I'm using Carbon 4.4.4 custom ROM.

You have to name the file exactly like this: PowerOn.ogg
Put it in /system/media/UI/
Make sure you set permissions.
