[Q] Boot animations - Samsung Infuse 4G

Can anybody direct my to a good thread on how to use jrummy's boot animation app? Or a good thread on changing boot animations period? Thanks everyone.

Changing boot animations is easy
1) Get a root explorer app (es file explorer is free and you can enable root under settings)
2) download boot animation
3) paste it in /system/media using the root explorer
4) make sure the name matches the previous one
5) make sure the permissions are rw, r, r
6) reboot and enjoy

Thanks much. So there isn't an app that will do this?

So in step 4 do I make sure it has the exact same name as the previous or just the same suffix? And how do I change permissions on it?

trey...you have to read the advice given.
read mg's instruction again.
review this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437548
there is a lot of info there...may need to read it several times

I've read and applied all the steps as written but still am just getting the Samsung then nothing where the at&t bootanim used to be..
Be Real or Don't Be

Permissions are typically RW,R,R aka Read Write, Read, Read
most ROMs have the animation named as bootanimation.zip, but some are sanim.zip
Also...many people have difficulty changing animations on rooted stock...I suspect it has something to do with the kernel
Lastly...idk about any apps that can change the boot animation for you...but they probably do exist...
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2

Mg.. You are correct. The stock kernel does not run the service that plays these boot animations.

[MOD]Bootanimation4U - Add custom bootanimation to any rom

This will add the ability to use a custom bootanimation on any rom with any kernel and probably any samsung device.
It has been tested on the Note II but should work with any samsung device that uses samsungani to load boot animations. If it doesn't work for you please post here.
Uses the typical settings bootanimation is at /system/media/bootanimation.zip, this is for those using a stock rom or a rom the dev didn't add it in.
I included the Google Gears bootanimation too. Flash the file in recovery. The attachment is a flashable zip not bootanimation.zip.
The updater-script uses busybox to mount the partitions, so if it doesn't flash correctly install busybox from an app on the play store then try again.
Edited the attachment, now includes the bootanimation binary just in case in bootanimation4u.zip, there is also another one named Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only that only edits samsungani.
If /system/bin/bootanimation exists flash the Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip
How to use:
Add bootanimation.zip to /system/media
Flash Bootanimation4U.zip in recovery
If you want sound add an ogg file named PowerOn.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui, if sound doesn't work be sure /system/bin/samsungpowersoundplay exists if its there it will play sound if not its not included in your rom download it HERE then put it where it belongs and fix the perms which should be rwxr-xr-x
Reboot...Enjoy
Here is a method to get some bootanimations thanks to ReelFiles:
ReelFiles said:
Awesome!
1. Make a backup just in case.
2. Flash bootanimation4u.zip from recovery (I use TWRP).
3. Reboot and install Boot Animations Root from the Play Store.
4. Go into the app's preferences and change install location to /system/media/ and leave the default filename (bootanimation.zip) and go back to the main screen.
5. Select any bootanimation from the Server tab and hit Install. (Tablet ones at the bottom of the list look best.)
6. Select the installed bootanimation again and hit Resize. Set it to 720x1280 30FPS.
7. Tap the options key and select "Preview current" Make sure you like it and reboot.
I use the Tablet - Shatter one, it looks like the one from the Jedi Roms, but higher quality.
If you Preview a few different ones and then decide to use one you downloaded earlier, delete it first then install and resize it again, or the preview will just be a black screen and might not work at all.
I believe you can preview before installing the animation if you buy the Pro version.

No it only uses busybox to mount system to copy files. It makes it flashable on most devices without using specific blocks. Ie. Mmcblk0p13

Ok, so this will prevent the boot loop caused by adding bootanimation.zip's manually on samsung devices? (vzw gs3 running aosp).
Does the flash of your mod stick between rom flashes, or flash each time?
I don't thing it belongs to development, since the mod is already known and that's why i already posted something like this on General with both methods (manual and CWM)

|PRJ EVAP| Change keypress sound in touchwiz based roms [UPDATE 1/4]

Welcome to project evaporation!!
This is for anyone who is just as annoyed as me by the stupid water drip noise that samsung has added to all of their jelly bean roms:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOUCH SOUND FIX :
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hq4gyyb9xhddm9a/v5JBeIOVM3
Download those 2 files and have them replace the two files already in your phone.
The location of the files are:
/system/media/audio/ui/
Just paste the two files (using a file explorer like root explorer) to overwrite the current ones, then reboot your phone and your all set
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOCK SCREEN SOUND FIX
Download these files and place them in the same location as the touch sounds above. Follow the same steps as you will be replacing the
two audio files that are already in that folder with the same name.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/28jn0gvcdg6rrra/yOMiLCWftu
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIALER KEYPAD FIX:
First thanks to WarlockW at the T Mobile SGS3 forum for creating this fix and razorhog for finding it
Flash this in recovery:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j08sn9lpds7svd6/tOqDWL_eO9
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The waterdrop .ogg file was requested so here it is:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7bde7a3p3zx4rp5/Ien-FnvQPg
Its the same file for all of them its just renamed
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm currently using these with embryo 6
If anyone feels the urge to create a zip file for this that'd be cool I want to but I have no idea how
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posting to confirm this works. Much better than the water drip. Also, dont forget to fix permissions after you overwrite the original files.

[BOOTANIMATION] Animus BootScreen

Hi everyone, I'm quite new to this forum (well posting ofc). So if I did anything wrong please instead of giving insulting replies which will teach me nothing, just PM or remind me here. I'll appreciate it.
After I got my GNote and flashed AmniX's Custom Rom, I wanted something else as bootanimation.
Since i'm a major AC Fan, I have decided to port the bootscreen I've used from my Animus PC Interface and put it here.
Screenshot IS Located at the Attachments
This bootanimation will work with any kernal that supports it.
But this will NOT work with ROMs that uses .qmg file as their bootanimation instead of a .zip file. (eg. Stock ROM)
WARNING - DO NOT FLASH THIS IN RECOVERY
Steps in installing:
1. Download the zip file,
2. Copy the zip file into your internal storage of your phone or the external SD card.
3. Using a root explorer or browser, navigate to system/media
4. Make a backup of your bootanimation.zip located in there (Just InCase it does not work for you) and remove it from the system/media folder. - IMPORTANT
5. Copy the bootanimation.zip that you have downloaded into system/media
6. After you have copied the zip file into system/media, change the permission of the zip file to rw-r--r-- (thanks projeto56 for mentioning)
7. Reboot and enjoy your new bootscreen.
Just a heads up, IF the bootscreen did not work, you will have a BLACK SCREEN during bootup, its nothing and it will still be running, just without an animation displaying there.
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPEN TO YOUR PHONE. READ THE INSTRUSTION CAREFULLY BEFORE DOING IT.
Nice one
You should also mention about the permissions of the bootanimation file. They should be rw-r--r--

[Stock] International Note 3 Bootanimation

Hi guys I have tried to get the stock international note 3 bootanimation along with the stock boot animation sound of the international note 3. I have tried on mine and it works ok. Remember to make a backup copy of the files you will replace in case you something happen or you dont want it.
Directions
1. Unzip the folder
2. Copy the bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, bootsamsungminiloop.qmg on system/media folder ( Make sure you correct the permission)
3. Copy the PowerOn.ogg on system/media/audio/ui (Make sure the permission is correct)
4. Reboot and no more At&t Crap bootanimation
UPDATE: Added shutdown animation of stock international
1. Unzip the folder
2. Copy the shutdown.qmg to system/media folder Make sure the permission is correct (now on at&t just removed the shutdownloop.qmg not sure if that file is present on t-mo but you can remove it or just transfer it to your sd card)
3. Reboot and you wont have the loop circle animation when you shutdown your device
Thank you sinichi21! Works perfectly. Finally rid of the last att crapware on my Straight Talk device.

I don't have T-mo but I added on the op the shutdown animation of stock international you can try it and see
Verified that this does not trip Knox!
Thank you sir! I was trying to get rid of the AT&T boot animation before through Rom Toolbox but it just made my lockscreen flash on/off. This is a cleaner solution.
I opted to not use the sound file, but renamed the stock one to PowerOn.bak and now I have a silent boot.
Thanks!

Long press the .apk you just pasted and select PERMISSIONS and make sure you change permissions to match the original such as rw-r--r-- in this case. Make sure you do this for each .apk you paste so it matches permissions for the apk you are replacing.

I bet you are trying to use Root Explorer to edit the file. Unfortunately the file size is too big and Root Explorer A) won't even show the entire file's contents and B) won't let you save the file even if the right commands were editable......
You have to find another alternative. Personally I pushed the file out of the phone, edited it on my computer, and pushed it back to the phone. It worked fine.

As much as I like (and also recommend) Root Explorer, it won't work with the build.prop file as it is too big for the Root Explorer text editor.

I use root explorer as well. I didn't realize that the text editor cant handle that large of a file... Anyway this is the way that I got around it on my Mac:
On Mac:
adb pull /system/build.prop .
vi build.prop
<Make changes>
adb push ./build.prop /mnt/sdcard/
On phone:
Remount /system RW in Root explorer
Rename /system/build.prop to /system/build.prop.bak
Move /sdcard/build.prop to /system/build.prop
Reboot
You could always just download build prop editor from the play store and it works and is easy.

Edited the build.prop file. Ended up soft bricking my phone. Was able to reset but not fun.
This is an app that doesn't require mucking with build prop. Works well for me.
