Must be rooted. Edit build.prop persist.splitwindow .support_all
open system folder
-scroll to build.prop (past folders)
-copy/make backup
-open as text in text editor
-scroll to persist.splitwindow.support_all
-change value to true
- save and reboot
Depending on your app/tool you may need to copy build.prop somewhere, edit and replace old one in system with edited version.
Enjoy.

I'm rooted but having trouble finding build.prop to edit so I can have all apps on split screen. I just came over from HTC my and that was a difficult phone to root so I feel I can do it on this OS but I'm just asking if you can give me a step by step walk through. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanked.

You need a good file manager with system access or an app or an app to edit build.prop. I use rom toolbox pro. Root Explorer is a good option I've used before too.

I tried root Explorer, but the editor says that the file is too big and week not save changes...

mjgspr95 great info - Might want to edit the OP to show the procedure and possibly change the title to [GUIDE] How to enable all apps in SplitView just to make it easier to find for people and keep the forums organized - also I am pretty sure this should be in General. But thank you for the info - it worked great for me.
and for those who are looking for a file browser - might want to check out ROOT Explorer

I bet you are trying to use Root Explorer to edit the file. Unfortunately the file size is too big and Root Explorer A) won't even show the entire file's contents and B) won't let you save the file even if the right commands were editable......
You have to find another alternative. Personally I pushed the file out of the phone, edited it on my computer, and pushed it back to the phone. It worked fine.

As much as I like (and also recommend) Root Explorer, it won't work with the build.prop file as it is too big for the Root Explorer text editor.

I use root explorer as well. I didn't realize that the text editor cant handle that large of a file... Anyway this is the way that I got around it on my Mac:
On Mac:
adb pull /system/build.prop .
vi build.prop
<Make changes>
adb push ./build.prop /mnt/sdcard/
On phone:
Remount /system RW in Root explorer
Rename /system/build.prop to /system/build.prop.bak
Move /sdcard/build.prop to /system/build.prop
Reboot
You could always just download build prop editor from the play store and it works and is easy.

Edited the build.prop file. Ended up soft bricking my phone. Was able to reset but not fun.
This is an app that doesn't require mucking with build prop. Works well for me.

We already extracted it of there. Works on Samsung no problems, just need to spoof the build.prop device name. Not too tough.

I can't seem to get my system to mount R/W with ES File Explorer, so I can't edit the build.prop.
Furthermore, I have to manually change the "home" settings in ES to the /system folder in order to even navigate to it, then I can't even see the file even though all files are supposed to be shown (through settings) so I have to search for it.
Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
EDIT: Noticed that when it is mounted as R/W, build.prop is not listed at all, but it is when it isn't mounted as R/W.

Can anybody direct my to a good thread on how to use jrummy's boot animation app? Or a good thread on changing boot animations period? Thanks everyone.
Changing boot animations is easy
1) Get a root explorer app (es file explorer is free and you can enable root under settings)
2) download boot animation
3) paste it in /system/media using the root explorer
4) make sure the name matches the previous one
5) make sure the permissions are rw, r, r
6) reboot and enjoy

Thanks much. So there isn't an app that will do this?

trey...you have to read the advice given.
read mg's instruction again.
review this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437548
there is a lot of info there...may need to read it several times
I've read and applied all the steps as written but still am just getting the Samsung then nothing where the at&t bootanim used to be..
Be Real or Don't Be
Permissions are typically RW,R,R aka Read Write, Read, Read
most ROMs have the animation named as bootanimation.zip, but some are sanim.zip
Also...many people have difficulty changing animations on rooted stock...I suspect it has something to do with the kernel
Lastly...idk about any apps that can change the boot animation for you...but they probably do exist...
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
Mg.. You are correct. The stock kernel does not run the service that plays these boot animations.

I think the stock had specific ringtones but I'm not sure. I didn't use it for very long.
Ideally I would like to have both the motorola and CM ringtones available.
thank you
Custom roms remove the stock ringtones. I asked this question a while back but no one answered so I guess it isn't possible.
It is possible as far as I know, just copy them from the system folder and put them in the new one, give permissions and they should be there when you reboot
