I see a lot of ppl that are on custom roms that would like stock animation and sound back. So i figured i would share this. I take no credit for this. Im just simply rewriting and summarizing what i found over in the Stratosphere section on rootzwiki. Credit goes to icebear for finding the files and to buffaloquinn for posting what to do with them. You can find that thread here
Download stock files here
In Root Explorer (or other file manager)
Navigate to /system/media/
(change to R/W)
In /system/media/
Rename bootsamsung.qmg -> bootsamsung.bak
Rename bootsamsungloop.qmg -> bootsamsungloop.bak
Copy bootani.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg (from wherever you have them) to the /system/media/ directory
Rename bootani.qmg -> bootsamsung.qmg
In /system/etc/
Replace the PowerOn.wav file with stock Droid version (If your on infinity rom or another rom that doesnt have boot sound. Then just add the wav file to the /system/etc/ directory)
Change back to R/O
Reboot to the Droid animation
Nice job writing it up but lol that dang boot sound is the first thing I kill. I either edit it out or replace it.
Thanks! Sound is optional though. I just figured i would include how to do it all. If anybody doesn't want any sound then just delete the .wav file in the directory.
Im running tweakstock 1.4 and the audio changed but the animation did not

Are you running the latest pbj kernel? If so, go into /system/media and delete "sanim. Zip".

Well, they're different devices so my tentative answer is no. But we're not going to stop you, so if you want to try it, be my guest. You'd probably get much better feedback in your own forum.

Those are universal boot animation type I think. Do a search of the entire site for boot animations.

Hi,
I attached the Xoom bootanimation adapted to the TAB (full size)...
* in adb, just mount system for r/w access, then push the bootanimation.zip to /system/media and finally set the permissions to 0644.
with rootexplorer, simply copy to /system/media and fix permissions...
* It works only in conjuction with roms that supports bootanimation, like overcome (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932082)
If is not allowed, please, delete the file
dumb question, but any screen shots?
one of the images of the animation is provided at the OP post
where does the files gets replace?
thanks
instructions are in OP post now
Thanks looks nice but how to change the permissions to 0644 in root explorer i only have some boxes in the permission menu.

Iv tried this on my VZW tab and doesnt seem to work, will the file need ported to support VZW. If so i will do it but i will need a large amount of help lol
Yes its that one from Xoom
so lets start:
1) To apply it you need to be rooted.
2) don't unzip folder
3) Put the zip file on your SDcard
4) Back up old one (copy "bootanimation.zip" from /system/media/ and paste to another folder)
5) Delete the old boot animation in /system/media/
6) Copy my zip to /system/media/ using "root explorer" or "ADB"
AND enjoy sexy BOOT ANIMATION (working excellent!!!!!!! )
(I make copy of original boot animation in case some one delete with out backing up )
_____________________________________________________
update:
I just made (HIGH QUALITY) sound for start up (it is still hot, carefully), SEXY girl telling "Nvidia" (original Nvidia SOUND)
1) To apply it you need to be rooted.
2) Unpack "PowerOn.7z" folder, put the ogg file on your SDcard
3) Back up old one (rename "PowerOn.ogg to PowerOn.lol" from /system/media/audio/poweron)
4) Copy my ."ogg" file to /system/media/audio/poweron/ using "root explorer" or "ADB".
retart you phone !! (Just do not restartat every 5 seconds after me )
UPDATE 04.24- PowerOff sound.
check the video :
Worked like a charm, now we just need to change the audio. Good work.

yea, it is. its also included in the trinity kernel. i believe that it needs to be an .ogg file format and in /system/media/poweron/. thats where it is in the trinity kernel at least.
Good to know its possible. What does the desc.txt file say for the Trinity kernel?
I tried changing the mp3 to ogg, but still no dice. I know I'm missing something to get bootsound to work, just haven't been able to figure it out. Does the bootanimation file in /system/bin need to be replaced with something that supports bootsound?

i have some file bootanimation.zip. but i do'nt know how to use with this rom.
Using Root Explorer go to System/media.
Then after turning on Read/Write in Root Explorer replace the current ZIP with your choice. Set the permission rw-r-r and reboot.
Sometimes you need to name it sanim.zip instead of bootanimation.zip

And yet my bootanimation went back to stock after a week of using Zeus. I ended up having to manually rename the sanim.zip to bootanimation.zip to get the custom boot animation back. Bottomline, search and try to do things yourself before posting a topic. A boot animation is simple, so the flashing should be harmless to your phone if you have a general idea of what you are doing.

Hello guys,
I want to change the Andromadus CM10.1 (build 12) bootanimation with the R2D2 bootanimation in this link (http://androidbootanimation.com/category/800x480-boot-animations/page/2/)
I have renominated the stock bootanimation.zip in bootanimation_old.zip and copied the one from the site in /system/media and renominated bootanimation.zip
Although it seems I have done something wrong because when i reboot the phone I get stock "Android" bootanimation in boot. I have read many threads but it seems that apart from sense rom, the procedure is just the same.
Is there anyone that can help sort it out?
Thank you
