could u plz direct me or give me the step by ste tutorial from unlocking bootloader to rooting the XE..thanks
this is what i just needed unlocking, rooting and flashing custom recovery..
and oh by the way i nid also the procedure for downgrading and upgrading process..hoping for ur patience..sori for too much question..just new here in development thread for HTC,

you need to S-OFF the device if you want to downgrade
in S-ON you can't
take a look here

i don't think so
just make the contact(during the wire trick) in the correct time so you can have S-OFF in less time

yeah, this is with revolutionary, i used htc dev....still possible to use revolutionary on top?
I did mine the same way, HTC's way. I then followed that guide. s-off should be your next step

I unlocked my sensation with the HTC official unlock process too. Can I just follow Step 3 in the guide you mentioned to permanently root my phone?
yes you can but better is follow "STEP 2. To INSTALL Recovery" an recover your rom

Good luck with that.
I assume that you already know how to do this.
You must have a custom Recovery for you to flash ROMs initially.
Note: This ROM must be using an UNMODIFIED build.prop and the OFFICIAL boot.img of RUU HTC_EUROPE_2.10.401.5

Try skanob's, AFAIK its the only one that works for your hboot version.

No, there is no way to downgrade hboot 2.02.xxx without unlocking the bootloader (and losing warranty).

Do as suggested and READ. All the information you need is out there and people are getting more and more fed up with the same questions being posted every three days just because people are too lazy to look for themselves.

You can, then, have custom ROMS on your phone without s-off.
Read THIS
It will give you some idea about other stuff.

Im kind of new to this and was very confused and so am hoping someone here could give me or link me to a tutorial to do these things. If there is a similar post then i apologise for making another one.

Unlock your bootloader at htcdev.com. Then flash the twrp 2.6 and install the root if you want. You get a option to. Then if you want to s-off use the revone method or the rumrunner. I prefer the revone.

Hello there, Thanks for they reply! How do I flash twrp 2.6 and how do I install the root? I think I have seen tutorials for s-off so i'll be ok with that.

After you unlock bootloader, you can just google or search on the fourums on how to install twrp using cmd if you have windows.
