Hey Guys, Sorry for the noob question but just thought I should ask since I'm new to flashing custom roms and etc
Can I still install CROMi and TWRP 2.5.0.0 while I'm on the 10.6.1.27 Bootloader ?

Not 100% sure on this but I don't think you can with CROMI-X 4.6.9. I know sbdags is working on a 4.7 version of CROMI-X that will be compatible, so I suggest waiting for that version.
As far as TWRP 2.5.0.0 I believe you need 2.6.0.0, but once again I can't say that with 100% certainty.

My bad! I must have had a major senior moment. I meant CROMI version 5.0. Talk about feeling like a noob!!
As you could see from my signature I am running 4.7 myself. And it seems that you can flash CROMI v 4.7 over the latest stock ROM, 10.6.1.27. Here is a link to the developer's answer:

If I experience problems with 2.6 can I simply go into fastboot, Download 2.5, and enter fastboot -i 0x0b05 recovery twrp.blob the same way I did with 2.6 ? Apparently 2.6 works well on the new bootloader version so it's worth a try either way :fingers-crossed:

Its saying "Backup Unsuccessful", So how do I downgrade TWRP from 2.6 to 2.5 ?
EDIT:
When backing up Just the system it completes as successful, Always at the start of a backup I get
E: Unable to find partition size for '/boot''
E: Unable to find partition size for '/recovery'
Update partition details...
* total number of parts to backup: 3
* Total size 1175mb
Hmm strange I just did a System and Data backup and it was successful this time! So can I start flashing Cromi now ?
Doesn't happen now! Ends up Successful everytime must have been a one-off thing
That are the issues with twrp 2.6
To downgrade: the same way as you flashed the 2.6 but then with the 2.5 -4.2 blob. ( make sure you download twrp 2.5.0.0 -4.2)

Hi!
Just found a way to update to JB from the 1.053 version (Acer_AV043_A700_RV22RC03_EMEA_DE) on wich every other update failed for me. But runs with the other versions, too.
Unlock Bootloader
Install CWM (6.0.1.4)
Visit this german forum
get the file A700 JB Full ROM AV051_1.028.00_EMEA_DE RV09RC02.zip
flash it via CWM
DONE!
Just tested and it's working.
Credits go to those who deserve it.
I deleted CWM and a mate let it where it was and both A700 are running fine [*] (see below!)
... now waiting for root
----------------------------
[*] New info:
My friend, who kept CWM, unlocked the bootloader again after the update and now has a bootloop. So my advice is to kill CWM after the update.
I don't get into recovery too (with locked bootloader) it says "recovery image verified failed". But system starts normally afterwards.
------------------
More info:
I had CWM on the tab too, because i misunderstood the question:
When asked
Code:
ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?
No
No
No
Yes - Disable recovery flash
say NO! to kill CWM.
------------------
Still more info to come:
(4.10.2012)
The bootloop was fixed by flashing a propriate recovery after beeing able to enter fastboot using the right key combination.
andiby left us a JB stock recovery: recovery.img and he build a CWM 6.0.1.4 with JB Kernel: recovery-a700-6014JB.img which runs fine for me.
Use the CWM with JB Kernel only to flash files and not to WIPE, FORMAT or RESTORE a backup, because there were issues with a different JB based CWM and I can't guarantee this one to work, because I have not tested it.
I'm on FR Firmware, can you tell me how should I proceed?
If you want to keep the FR firmware you will have to wait for an appropriate update file.
If you want to switch to Germen I think it should work with this method, because the zip file contains everything from bootloader to system files.
Do you think I can here: https://app.dumptruck.goldenfrog.com/p/GOKKb2PavJ download an install then install Acer_A700_AV043.RV07RC03_AV043.RV07RC06_EMEA_DE thereafter this here JB?
I would not recommend it, because your file is only 340 MB while the one from the thread above is nearly 400 MB.
I think you only need the file from my post, because there is everything in it fpr JB afaik, but I can give no guarantee, because I only used it to update my German version.
PS: Might it be posible to reduce the size of your signature a bit? Threads are much more difficult to read if a signature is almost always larger than a normal post. Thank you to give consideration to my request.

I just don't get why you want to flash anything else before the "A700 JB Full ROM AV051_1.028.00_EMEA_DE RV09RC02.zip" because it is a FULL ROM and should be flashable over ICS 1.023, ICS 1.027, ICS 1.053 and ICS 1.055 to get JB 1.028.

Hey guys!
So my problem is when I try to install a ROM which has built in AROMA installer, I select what stuff I want to install blah blah blah, and when it starts to install/extract the files, it installs for about 7% then it says its done, I can press next button.
So I press next button and the phone reboots but it has black screen because the OS is not installed ....
However, Cyanogenmod 10.1 works fine, without any problems [ the only problem is the camera itself doesnt focus but whatever, not a big deal ]
Again my phone has S3 processor so its VILLEC2
Your help will be apprecicated !

I've been running Stock Rom (4.1.1) with Bullet_proof_kernel and TWRP (instead of stock kernel and stock recovery),Recently I was notified on an update to 4.2.2 via OTA. And when I was asked for installing the update package after downloading (424 MB),it simply goes into TWRP,and nothing happens. I tried flashing it through twrp but it doesn't work(I get some errors on it). What if,I flash Stock kernel and stock recovery and then try updating it??If that's possible,Can anyone provide me with a link for downloading them? It would also be great if you suggest an alternate way to update it to 4.2.2 [stock].
Thanks in advance!!
As I've told at least 3 other people in the last couple days: OTAs require stock recovery to install.
Also, I think your bootloader will need to be relocked if you are S-on.
If you are already bootloader unlocked and custom recovery, just install one of the stock (or stockish) Sense 5 ROMs posted in Development. Flash like any other custom ROM.

Its been discussed here countless times that TWRP 2.5.0.0 is buggy, and many ROMs will not install with it. Update to 2.6.0.0.
This is probably your main issue. Returning to stock recovery is a poor remedy.

Try downloading GooManager from the Play Market, and update TWRP that way.
I've tried CWM before, but only the official version, not Philz, so I can't comment on that.

Regarding MIUI OTA, investigation shows that I'd need to do some ugly hacks to support it. I'll think about it but I don't intend using MIUI or flashing it so I'll work blindly. And ZCX doesn't have sources anywhere so I can't look at it.

On the contrary, forget about gapps. Why promote spyware when there's a lot of good open source software for all practical purposes? Unless there is a particular need for some google app because of job or something . F..k gapps. Besides, a lot of people complain about very good roms 'because they didn't know better and flashed gapps right away.
