How to increase amount of free ram. ... without root...??
U can increase the amount of free ram by using task killer like fast reboot.
Also running more no of apps like whatsapp,wechat,fb...in background reduces fones performance.
After rooting..u can use titanium backup pro to freeze system apps or uninstall system apps like google maps dat always run in background and uses ram.
Use greenify

In Advanced Task Killer or Task Manager the available memory is shown as only 90-100 mb, while when I check it in settings--> applications --> running services the RAM memory is shown about 250 mb.
So whats the main difference between these two memory, because I think both shows free available RAM.
I have T-mobile USA version, if that makes any difference.
I would imagine one is the memory left for the system to run (task manager ram) and the other is the room left for apps to be installed. Two different memories.
I think the room for the apps to be installed is the internal storage and it is showing me to be about 0.9 gb free in settings-->applications-->manage applications-->downloaded
My bad, your right. Mine shows 98mb free in task manager and 226mb free in applications/running services.

The Task Killer shows the amount memory that are not used by Android OS.
The Running Services show the total memory including those used to cache apps.
You can press option key while in Running Services, there should be an option called "show cached processes".
If you add the amount used as cache and the amount free in Task Killer, the total should be same as free memory in Running Services.
P.S. Sense is a total memory hug. I'm running without Sense and have 250mb free in task killer and 343Mb free in Running Services. When I 1st did a clean install without Sense, I had close to 300mb free in task killer.

Cached processes and running services shows the same amount of memory i.e., 241mb free
If you have 90 to 100MB free in task killer, and 250MB free in running services, go to cached processes and it should show about 150MB used.
So if you add the amount used in cache and amount free in task killer, the total should be the same as the amount free in running services.
Hope this answers your question.
I am running the latest insertcoin rom with launcherpro and the more apps I open, the more Memory I have free somehow, but I don't know why. If I use HTC Sense launcher that doesn't happen, Memory seems to get used more & more. I use the built in task manager app. I'm like at 200-230mb free almost always.

But as I said earlier, both Cached processes and the running services shows me the same amount of memory free.
Could you please check on your sensation to confirm what you said

where did you check your cached background services. Because in the settings cached background processes and running services, both are same for me.

My phone also shows the same amount of free memory in running services and cached processes.
This is because Android considers cached processes as free memory. They are background processes that are not visible or directly affect our use of the device and can be killed to free up memory to run service processes (i.e. user launched apps).
The cached processes basically are a list of recently used apps stores in reverse order, i.e. the least recently used app is at top of the list and most recently used app is at the bottom of the list. This way if the phone is running out of memory, it will start to kill off app at top of the list, so the app that was last used will be the last one to be killed.
The idea of cached processes is to improve the start-up time of an app the next time the user needs to run it.
P.S. I'm not an expert in Android operating system, this is just my general understanding of how Android managers processes.

You are misunderstanding. If you add the memory IN USE by cached services to the free memory in task manager it should equal the free memory in running services.

Alright I got you, but could you please tell me where can I find the memory in use by cached services
basically ive got 100's of apps installed on my phone and many still run in the background using up alot of ram memory and causing the phone to lag occasionaly, any1 recommend any good ram manager apps that would help speed up my phone? thx
p.s. please dont ask me to delete sum apps

did you tried with tweak scripts, like supercharger???
I tried a lot of task managers, but in fact you do not need one. Take a loot at the app Cache Cleaner. It cleans cache an helps apps to lag less often (like facebook for example).
No RAM manager is the best RAM manager.
And if we are talking about cleaning apps, check out SD Maid, it may look a bit more complicated than cache cleaner but is more thorough.
Android is designed to run without a task manager. Its definitely a myth that it saves you any battery life or helps with memory. Android automatically kills a task when more memory is needed, its done doing what its doing or if you haven't returned in a long time. If you kill a task before it is ready it will just reopen and start from scratch.
RAM tweak
You ought to try the RAM script tweak :V6 Supercharger memory tweak ...

Actually, RAM optimizers are a waste and actually counterproductive in most cases. This is because in android, free RAM is wasted RAM from a multitasking perspective. The default android RAM optimizations are just fine in most cases, most other tweaks actually sacrifice something somewhere, this causes the device to constantly have to reload and cache the same data repeatedly after the optimizer kills it. This creates more workload on the CPU/GPU and more battery usage.

You should use clean master it has , a on click ram booster and 1 click apps hibernate system , and 1 click cache cleaner , you can add these features directly as widget , it solve hanging problem on low end devices

Is it Eligible for Oreo 8.1 Rom?
I've flashed my HTC Pico with HTC SENSE 5 Build 6 and i am getting only 150 mb of ram . I have partitioned my SD Card with 1 GB and tried doing with S2E and multimount like apps but all in vain.. Please Help..
U can't increase physical ram. However u can increase free ram memory by using greenify and zd box. Greenify helps in force closing of the apps depending on how u have configured and zd box(enable root task killer) helps in closing most of the system apps. Usually task managers actually reduce performance. Since we have low memory and using sense 5 we are left with no options. Don't try any other bogus task killing apps.
Hit thanks if I helped u

Only with S-OFF That is Possible. We Currently Do not have S-OFF
After reboot my phone I have more than a gigabyte free RAM. But few days after that with used some apps I have only 600-700 MB RAM free and I don't know what is using it.
I mean after I stop using some app i force stop it from the app manager because I don't want it to stay loaded in the memory but don't know why the memory doesn't release.
Is Android cache some RAM without my knowledge?
I upload a screenshoot from L Speed.

Your OS using Your RAM. It's not normal for android to leave lot of RAM free. Thats not how android works. He load most used app so You can call them quick. You can google about that and read some article about how android menage RAM. I have 3GB RAM, in use is about 2 or 2.2! If i have 2GB of RAM than system used will use around 1 or 1.5gb. Every model have different RAM MENAGING! You don't need free RAM, if You start some app which need more RAM, system will immediately free enough RAM. All process have priorities, low priorities will be killed first to free up memory!
So don't wory about RAM in android OS! ?

Ok thanks than.
A certain amount of RAM will automatically be taken up by the GPU, which is why your 1 gig will be 832mb or thereabouts when you look at how much you have through CPU-Z or a similar app.
in system there are alot of apps that runs in background ie.. your messages ,dialer.. we can't stop that apps.... but yeh you can use greenify or similar to force stop your downloaded apps so your phone runs smooth.. also disable some system apps you can't use . because now days new androids come with alot of apps and we only use some apps
Is there a way to set hard limits on how much RAM individual Android apps can use? Seems most apps are greedy, and I'm running out of RAM, which makes switching between the apps I am currently using slow.
I used Titanium Backup to freeze all apps I don't use frequently, and now my ram usage is down to about 50%, where it used to be around 90%.
I also use an app called Auto Memory Manager, which controls Android's own memory management. You can tell it to free memory sooner than later, for different types of memory categories. But what made the most difference was freezing apps with Titanium Backup.
I'd still like to know if there is a memory policing app, but the aforementioned are good solutions.
