How to increase RAM? - HTC Pico (Explorer)

I've flashed my HTC Pico with HTC SENSE 5 Build 6 and i am getting only 150 mb of ram . I have partitioned my SD Card with 1 GB and tried doing with S2E and multimount like apps but all in vain.. Please Help..

U can't increase physical ram. However u can increase free ram memory by using greenify and zd box. Greenify helps in force closing of the apps depending on how u have configured and zd box(enable root task killer) helps in closing most of the system apps. Usually task managers actually reduce performance. Since we have low memory and using sense 5 we are left with no options. Don't try any other bogus task killing apps.
Hit thanks if I helped u

[Q]ram problem

Hey guys, I have a problem with my RAM u see I only have about 140mb of RAM, which when I bought my phone they said that they was going to be 768mb of RAM. So the problem is that whenever I kill all app using advance task killer, there would only be maximum of 200mba of RAM.but now after flashing a ROM the maximum RAM is 140mb n after opening one or two apps my phone necessary really laggy as I would only have 60 MBA left.on top of that my internet takes up about 80 MBA. So I am angry about this. So is there anesthesia else to increase the ram?thx
Your phone is broken; You should sell it to me. I'm joking of course, I don't want your broken POS. Lol Im sorry, I mean nothing is wrong with your phone.
256 is dedicated to the gpu, then another 300 or so is dedicated to the OS, and Rosie UI. The rest of that is what you're seeing. Don't worry though, 140MB is plenty of memory. You need to uninstall your 3rd party task killer and just enjoy using the phone.

Tnx for the reply but my phone lags, bro how
If you are flashing roms, then I assume you are rooted. Get Titanium Backup and freeze Sense. That will free up RAM and speed up your phone. I am using ADW EX on the stock ROM and I froze Sense (found two parts of it in Titanium). My phone is faster than hell...
Matt
Even with sense running your phone shouldn't lag unless one of your apps isn't working properly. The way android background processes work, if an active application needs more ram than is currently free, the android system will automatically kill inactive app(s) to free up memory. The problem is with poorly written apps that maintain active status when they are no longer active or have unnecessary services that relaunch themselves when they are killed. Your task killer cannot fix poor coding. It only provides a placebo effect. At best it is unnecessary, at worst it will exacerbate the issue.

Have you considered flashin another rom, or reflashing the one you're using ? It might help.
It happened to me as well : phone was laggy and sloooow. I went into Recovery, wiped all data, applied the super wipe script (just to be sure) and flashed again my rom.
Been on it for two days, and phone is really fast and responsive.

What rom did you flash ?
Most rom devs seem to recommend giving your phone a day or 2 of normal usage to let the android os 'settle down'.

Well yes, you will lose all your data. As mentioned higher, you can use Titanium Backup to save them.
As for your messages, you can use a small app, like SMS Backup and Restore (free on the Market) to save everyting on your SD Card, and restore them after you're done.
Reagrding the max multitasking apps, I admit I don't know how many of them can be kept running. I usually have 2 or 3 of them going at the same time, rarely more.

He's saying that your free ram amount is pretty normal. I want to know where you're getting the free ram amount from? If its from task manager (included or third party) its probably wrong. Go to settings>applications>running services and look at the bottom. I found that to be the most consistant regardless of device. BTW, I currently have 215mb free with ~20+ apps running and I never kill anything. In comparison, task manager shows 97mb free with only 4 running apps.

that's because task manager shows only completely unused ram. Running processes in the settings menu shows unused ram as well as cached processes. Cached processes are automatically ended when ram is needed so the android system includes that ram in the available ram count. Task manager does not do this. It will only show the unused ram. If you take your total ram (from running services menu in settings) and subtract the total amount of ram used by cached processes the numbers in task manger will march the new total. Example:
Running services shows 332MB (this is my actual numbers by the way) with 162MB used by cached processes. Task manager shows 170MB free. The numbers add up.
332MB - 162MB = 170MB
*edit
To see your cached processes go to:
menu> settings> applications> running services> menu> show cached processes

did you tried with tweak scripts, like supercharger???
I tried a lot of task managers, but in fact you do not need one. Take a loot at the app Cache Cleaner. It cleans cache an helps apps to lag less often (like facebook for example).
No RAM manager is the best RAM manager.
And if we are talking about cleaning apps, check out SD Maid, it may look a bit more complicated than cache cleaner but is more thorough.
Android is designed to run without a task manager. Its definitely a myth that it saves you any battery life or helps with memory. Android automatically kills a task when more memory is needed, its done doing what its doing or if you haven't returned in a long time. If you kill a task before it is ready it will just reopen and start from scratch.

Actually, RAM optimizers are a waste and actually counterproductive in most cases. This is because in android, free RAM is wasted RAM from a multitasking perspective. The default android RAM optimizations are just fine in most cases, most other tweaks actually sacrifice something somewhere, this causes the device to constantly have to reload and cache the same data repeatedly after the optimizer kills it. This creates more workload on the CPU/GPU and more battery usage.

You should use clean master it has , a on click ram booster and 1 click apps hibernate system , and 1 click cache cleaner , you can add these features directly as widget , it solve hanging problem on low end devices

[Q] Is there a way to make RAM stable?

When I use RAM manager, and kill all the apps, free memory is 200mb. then I'm watching the memory info, free memory is slowly going down from 200 to 190, 190 to 180, so on... I already frozen the bloatwares. and the only application opened is RAM manager.
This is my question(s):
1.) Is there a way to make the RAM stable at 200mb or at least 190mb?
2.) What does it buffers if there's only 1 application opened?
3.) Used RAM should be free again if an application is closed. No need to kill it manually. It this correct?
Thanks! Sorry if this question is so noobish.

Basically it's task of app's programmer.
BTW:
Neither Windows Mobile nor Android do recycle the memory (RAM) when you close an app, it will not automatically bring back those orphaned memory.
So your mobile device will become more and more slow. A so-called Memory Cleaner app can help to clean the system. You run it periodically, i.e. via a tasker app.
Examples (no comments by me):
Android => CleanMaster
WinMo => htcAddicts - CleanRAM [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514333 ]
and may others - most of them are freeware.

If I'm right a RAM manager (RAM Cleaner) is the tool needed. Must admit I've not much knowledge in system internals. Always thought ROM is persistent and RAM (from where in apps, except XIPs, are excuted and memory needed by apps is allocated from) is volatile ...

ram expander 2.1.1

this app is used to increase ram and performance in ur android phone, everyone tells that this degrades sd cards life but its working great for me, i purchased it from playstore and it checks licince verification, if u can crack its licence crack this app and install it on ur phone , sorry i have backuped it but cant crack it, do it if u can and enjoy the app
Please try before you buy with 'Memory Info & swapfile check' their device! This is the most powerful version ever! Exclusive only here in Play Goals!
Insufficient RAM, memory is too small? This need not be! Use your SD card as a working memory expansion!
A great programmer once said to insufficient RAM RAM only helps. Convince yourself how right this man had.
Finally, more memory with a click! Memory from Android 1.6 up with root access and external SD card! More memory means that background tasks can not be completed, and many programs will work correctly in the first place!
On many devices, there are problems with games require a lot of memory, this fixes the problems RAMEXPANDER. And they can play latest games on devices that otherwise would not be able to start such APPs. No more out of memory! No more memory is full!
Languages: English and German
Note: please try before you buy with our app "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roehsoft.meminfo" whether their device ROEHSOFT RAM Expander is compatible, you!
- Free SD card memory as a RAM use (SWAP RAM / SWAP MEMORY)
- Swapfile RAM expansion up to 4.0 GB (file system limit)
- No limit on SWAP partition!
- The usual performance degradation when paged not occur with sd card from class-8
- Widget for PNP swap (swap on / off swap)
- Detailed Memory Information & Analysis
- Autorun
- Swappiness kernel parameter set
- Easy foolproof use
(1 click optimization and automatic calculation)
- Supporting Tung all Android devices (root access and Kernelswap support)
Note: please try before you buy with our app "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roehsoft.meminfo" whether their device ROEHSOFT RAM Expander is compatible, you!
Should it come to problems please contact me before they write such queries to review forum!
not enough memory? equal to no more! More games to play and run more applications simultaneously! All you have to only increase your memory. And up to 4 GB! Larger memory, instead of using task killer or memory optimizer.
ROEHSOFT Ram Expander is more effective than any other tool of its kind Why? The First find out!
ROEHSOFT RAM expander support via a widget at lightning speed and off of extended memory.
This way you can remove the SD card despite swapfile or deploy via USB.
Also, you can important, elementary the swap kernel parameters even control the effectiveness of extended memory increase.
To gain root access you Linkk this helps any further http://shortfuse.org/.
Just affordable entry level phones often have little Ram, help either here or Task Killer programs continue but one uses a swapfile, which is enough memory available. ROEHSOFT Expander turns your device more easily. Many applications, you can start at the same time and do not have to worry about your Ram.
Extends every Android device up to 4 GB of memory in which it creates a swap file on the SDCARD.
Maximum size of the swap file is architecture requires 4GB!
By setting the swappiness value, you can control the behavior of the kernel, the higher the value the more is outsourced.
Please note! For any damage that may result from the use of this software are not responsible!

[Q] Apps for RAM usage and Task manager

Hello,
Can anybody suggest good apps for the following ?
System cleanup
Task manager(to kill applications and regain memory)
RAM Usage monitor(by default, Nexus 5 has 2GB RAM)
Disk space left on internal 32GB storage.

1) Clean Master
2) Greenify would hibernate apps so that they are not running in the background
3) If you rooted I suggest gravity box. It has the RAM monitoring deal where you hit the "recents" key and depending on where you put it it will show used RAM vs unused. Since this device has 2GB of RAM it is not recommended to constantly be killing the apps in the background.
4) you could download minimalistic text there are all kinds of things that it could tell you and as the title says it's minimal. or just look in storage. Also look into zooper, it has a predefined layout for sys information.
