... but we have to different also colors and ... yes, type of case also!

I don't see how this is nonsense and it could be worse, it could be a thread per carrier (of which there's like 3-4, possibly more, per country the S4 has been released in).

Already per Carrier, just not under this "Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500, i9505....

I'm not sure about all the other countries but the South Korean thread is separate because our S4s have very different hardware. Regardless of how many times XDA members have asked, XDA admins and mods won't make separate category for any of Samsung's Korean models. This goes as far back as the Blackjacks with MS mobile.
If you're an admin or mod hook us up.
As much as you may hate reading around one or two threads that don't pertain to your device , it really blows reading around hundreds, if not thousands that don't pertain to ours.

Hello guys,
Our team allowed country based threads at time of release as these are actually useful at that moment. They stop all those :Hey when is this releasing here? For how much?" type threads that start popping up too often. The users may not be able to see this working, but trust me, it does serve purpose on our end. Hence they exist/have existed so far.
I just had a quick look, and most of the threads have matured into general discussion threads. I'll consult with the others and we'll review the situation.
For now, this thread has served its purpose.
Thread Closed.

Just an update on the issue:
As you people may have already noticed, with the exception of a few threads (where there are hardware differences), the rest have all been closed as the device has matured. The thread titles have also been edited as there was nothing official regarding any of these.
If these still continue to pop up, I request that people please report them rather than engaging/trolling/flaming.
Thank you

So I don't have any where else to put it(I think it should go under development but the rules say - if you didn't create it it doesn't belong there) but I found this post really interesting so Enjoy
I noticed it with the nexus s, may this be the reason we'll not get ICS??

Interesting read, but why would this belong in the development forum?
You did the right thing posting it in the general forum,as this is exactly where it belongs.

This is a common misconception about the development forum.
It's not for things talking about development.
It's for things you have developed.
IOW, the only time one should start a thread on that forum is when one has developed something, and wants to share it with the community.
Anyways, sorry for the derail.
Not trying to sound like an ass or anything.
You did the right thing, and thanks for sharing the link.

In spite of Samsung's best efforts to bury the news by reporting it a couple of days before Christmas, Friday's disclosure that the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab won't get upgraded to Android 4.0 drew a lot of justified ire. Now the company seems to be backtracking like a champ, as reported by ajnews in Korea, by claiming that it will review the viability of updating those two devices in response to strong customer demand. While restating the difficulties of fitting its entire software footprint onto the Galaxy S and Tab's limited memory capacity, Samsung has been quoted as saying it'll investigate ways to try and make it work. We've reached out to Samsung for official comment on the matter and will update you as soon as we hear back.

awesome news - 10x for sharing

[IMPORTANT][INFORMATION]Da Rulez

Remember I am not a moderator. I am only here to help!
Hi all,
As you all know we have a very nice collection of ROMS here in this section of XDA. And I must say, I love it and I will continue testing ROMS and kernels.
It is amazing how this section has grown. And more ROMS and developers are comming here to share their work.
However, every single thread I see people asking:
ETA's
Battery life
Will this work, will that work
Can you please add.....
When will you update this ROM with this base etc..
These things are not on the right place here.
As you all know we also don't have an own Q&A and General subforum like the Samsung Galaxy S / S Advance. I do understand why you put these questions here. It's the I9001 subforum.. But these questions are not on the right place here.
So we made these threads ourselfs:
[Q&As][REQs][etc]Q&A, REQ, PLEASE POST HERE!
Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 General
Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 Q&A
Yes I know these threads are somewhat chaotic. But, these threads are for us and our beloved phone.
I think we need some basicrules in here. Remember one important thing THIS IS THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION OF THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S PLUS AKA ARIESVE AKA I9001.
Da rulez:
Read the XDA Rules: Link
Do not ask for ETA's (ETA stands for Estimated Time of Arrival)
Do not ask the developer to update the ROM with the newest base. If he/she has time it will be done. (it is not a must!!)
Do not ask the same thing in every thread (so if you ask something about a governor ask this in one kernel thread not in three)
Try before you ask. If you want to know something about a ROM read the thread, try and then ask.
Always read the instructions given bij the OP/Developer
Do not spam the thread. Trolling is funny I know but it has nothing to do with development. (WE NEED AN OFF TOPIC THREAD HERE :silly: )
If you have an important bug to report. Make a logcat.
Before posting anything, you must use the SEARCH button at the top of the webpage.
Respect each other. This is important. We all started as noobs as explaind here: Link
Use English when you are posting something here. If you are sending a private message to someone with the same language as you it's fine to use it. But post in English please.
If you are a new member here then please take a look here: Link
If you see something completly unfair/ against the rules / disrespectfull or whatever. Please use the report button it has an !
As a senior member of XDA I wish you good luck here. Happy flashing/modding/tweaking.
Cheers

I did. A while ago. I sent a message to Whisky01 and he said it will be discussed.. But I havent heard from him ever since.
AW: [IMPORTANT][INFORMATION]Da Rulez
In my opinion opening a topic for general things, will lead into a complete mess, because everyone wants to post questions to a different Rom or topic. So I would support these subforums i9000 users have for our phone.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app
Okay, before we get any discussion I want to explain why I made this thread.
As we all know this community is huge, our section is getting bigger and bigger. New ROMS, Kernels and developers.
We also get new users who wants to help and got questions. For me as a newbie 7 months ago it was hard to get answers and solutions for my problems. I was hoping I got my 10 postcount as soon as possible so that I could participate in the development section. Back then I was very noob and was helping and answering where ever I could and that lead to problems and random posts/discussions. To prevent suchs issues I create this topic to get the basic rules of XDA easy explaind in one simple topic. I refer to the original rules and topics made by moderators and admins. But still, this thread is easy to read (at least I hope )
Another reason for this thread is this:
I see comments like this:
+1

Click to collapse
When will you update this ROM

Any news????
Click to collapse
When are you releasing a fix
Click to collapse
Etc etc.
These comments are annoying, and in particular the +1 comments.. I hate them, and they fill the topic for no reason.
I also want to prevent "problems". Problems like spamming and misunderstanding.
These rules are in no way against anything on XDA. If you as user got any problems with this topic or even me. Sent me a PM please.

I think I make a poll to show to the moderator/admins to get our own subforum
Wrong threat
AW: [IMPORTANT][INFORMATION]Da Rulez
This is no discussion thread! These are the XDA rules, if you want to stay here, follow them, if you dont follow them, leave. Theres nothing to discuss about.
Also, we asked for a i9001 forum multiple times, i dont get why they dont do **** about that. Its annoying as hell everything is mixed with i9000 things. I saw a guy who flashed a i9001 kernel on his 9000 because he thought the 9001 kernel are the "new ones".
For gods sake even the GS Advance has his own forum....whats the matter?

So they can give moderator to any developer on this forum, ex. broodplank, or someone else. I think we can move threads at us own. Only baricade is ... we don't have forum...
I have an idea. It's a little annoyng but we all can report this post to mod's with reason ex. "We want to have forum for our phone, please, read that topic". But OP must insert info about that in 1st post. What do you think about that?
we need to vote for a new forum and show them the votes (just to say that we are a lot and we want it)

XDA Forums generally have bad organization and very bad moderation. They are here only to punish you...
I am and was mod/supermod on many Tech Forums in my country, the biggest has 300.000 members, and it's organization is 100 times better then this. I had hundreds of posts, and know how good forum work. A lot sub-forums for better member orientation, gentle and kind mods who always have advice for you how to be better, and not warnings...
That's why simple members treat them with respect and not with arogance...

To be honest, I dont see a moderator here very often. I believe (and this may be wrong) that they are only moderating the populair devices:
Samsung Galaxy SII/SIII HTC One X/X+ etc.. Our device is not so populair....
But please stop this discussion, this is not going to end..

Why close all the region specific threads?

They weren't only used to discuss availability. Very bad over moderating, tut tut. Please unlock uk thread or direct me to uk specific thread which discusses new colour and 32gb/64gb availability, carrier specific questions, where to find good uk deals, uk firmware, etc......all in one place.

I agree, found it quite useful for local information,
I understand some of the reasoning behind it but even if they were becoming too big to find information, someone could just post their region specific question in that thread and one of the regular visitors would help out. Saves another new thread being started. Plus they are a great way to track regional changes and progress of the life of the gs4 in a specific country, if you has time to read start to finish.

Then say that, not rhetoric about being banned. In response to clutter, far better have region specific threads than new ones each time one provider gets updated and another doesn't, or three threads excitedly taking about a new gs4 model released in a certain country. It does the exact opposite of clutter

if cluttering is the issue then it can be put into a rolling sticky inside a single thread isnt it?
Its advantages overcome the disadvantages to be frank, say for example
*if i were about to ask a question related to free sview covers samsung is providing in india where should i ask for the progress ,status and opinions?
* if a service provider in india has issues with s4 , say its temporarily down where can i ask for the opinion, status etc?
* If there is a new user coming into the thread and if he/she can see their country thread they feel like home and they can ask for questions or atleast move a bit social.
More can be said, but i dont want to make it biggy , I still beleive the moderation commitee will have fair hearing once again. But whatever the final verdict, its upto them to decide
+1
For bala (and continuing further )...
I used to go directly to Indian Offic.....thread to know the updates, accessories, availability, roms, and other regional info ...but now after closing these ...i am feeling stranded.....
...
Please suggest me if i want to know/discuss about the exact price of galaxy s4 in India/Australia/Etc ..then where should i go......if i am planing to visit UK THEN wouldn UK specfic thread be more useful to clear doubts... ...or in such conditions should i open new topic for this???...no way
I think ...after this action...there is more chance of new threads to be opened for small querries..every second..this may cause more cluttering which will need more thread cleaning process...
I Politely request Moderators to consider little bit attention about my opinion...
Thanks XDA & @LL
Please re open the Brazilian Thread.... We change a lot of useful information there!
Thanks!

This!! This alone made the region specific threads worth it. Please bring them back
You only have to look at the numbers of replies in the Ireland/UK topic to understand it was heavily used where a number of members would come to find out any info on their area phones.
I personally found it of great value and am very surprised it was closed without any other topic of it's kind being brought into use....
The trouble is by closing this one single topic it will in turn now create many, many other topics of greater problematic use.
I've owned all the Samsung models (S1, S2, S3, S3 4g and now S4) and country specific threads have been around for all of them.
I followed the Aussie threads for all those models. It will be a pain now searching for all Aussie related info. One thread will now become a hundred.
Why this decision now?

Moderator should understand what needed and not.dont just simply closing thread that lot of views and comment.its mean the threat is usefull.check out other threat like s2.note.note2...they also having country specific threat and stil not closing by their moderator.i m not complaining bout moderator decision but this time i think this is not a right decision...with specific country threat..new comer and new bie easily asking for other member from their country coz its more friendly to them.others thing..every country have their own internet network provider, not same so in country specific threat they can discuss about it.hope moderator thinking again bout their decision.ty

(Check his last comment before closing threat)
We are not support site...developer site.so for me simple..for new bie..dont ask for support from xdadeveloper s4 threat...moderator dont like to support....Remember that.
If no support..you must be a developer to join s4 threat because s4 threat no more for new bie.its a developer site only..Remember that.
I know i ll be banned because my statement but android itself open source..so for me moderator must thinking how xdadeveloper become popular...because all of us.
Can i ask s4 moderator...why other model moderator keep region specific threat and only s4 moderator do this...Many voice vs 1.think about it.if all moderator from all model keep the threat and making xdadeveloper more popular why some of you try to ruined it with the power given.....
Remember...you also new bie when 1st joined xdadeveloper.
Thank you moderator.Sorry for my rude comment and threat.

and there are tons of alternative for this... create an official FB page which almost all countries have now anyways.. (though not all uses FB like me)
even a better idea is to create a google group discussion for each country and we can do the talking there... (im sure all of us has google accounts)
then create a sticky thread here with the links to all google groups discussion thread for each country... and we can communicate better since we can talk using our native language..
i just made a test group HERE and see if it works for me and my fellow Filipinos and use this as a Philippine S4 thread aternative...
maybe other people can follow suit and see if this works for them too..
P.S. - easiest way to access your gg is to bookmark the group's page using your browser...

As far as I can see the threads aren't closed...
A few people are kicking up a stink about having to bypass a couple extra lines.... Don't understand why considering not every thread grabs my attention either but I'm sure as heck not gonna ask for it to be removed... The fact these threads keep popping back up means there is a need and want for these threads.
How hard is it to bypass a thread you don't want to look at, honestly....

The problems is mods...If all mods from all forum sit back and discuss about this..i m sure majority will not like our s4 mods decision.
Most important thing We keep threat clean and clean up by mods.
S4 also as we know got many variant...i9500,i9505,i9505G,i9506 and etc so specific regional threat is important to discuss many thing.

and this isn't the correct way of stating one's opinion if they don't agree with the mods' decision..
they can just pm someone from the mod committee for re-consideration..
they're just buying themselves a ticket to bansville..

Advertiser will look for daily traffic volume if wanna advertise their advertisement.More traffic means higher price. So for me xdadeveloper also want their webpage to get higher traffic so what is the problem now..
Opssss:We are not support site..so no need all those threat. Please close all QA threat because they come for support and mods dont like to support.

I don't really like Jonny's methods.. This guy is closing threads whenever he feels like it.

I didn't even close a single country specific thread ya troll... I close threads that have either run their course (as in the one this is about) or that break the forum rules.
If you don't agree with my actions, feel free to take it up with the moderator committee.
Oh and p.s
Thread closed :victory:

Galaxy S5 Developer edition request!

Hello, I just wanted to request the forum moderators if we its possible to add the Galaxy S5 Developer Edition to this category please?
I think any development for it, will fall under the "Original Development" thread, and ROMs will be labeled as such.

Yes but I think it would be more organized because it's like having two s5 phones within verizon, and for the people that don't know or read enough or might not get what the dev edition of the phone means it could save them a lot of post reading as well as it can save the dev edition holders time when reading people's questions like, is thia for the dev edition only? Lol

It seems like the user base of the s5 dev would be to small to warrant it's own section.

It works fine, in all the other threads, if people can't take the time to read the title, then they probably shouldn't be messing with their phones in the first place.

Developer editions have the same hardware and small user base so will be posted in regular Android Development with proper warnings and titles to not flash on locked devices....anything that falls within the Original Development guidelines posted will go in that section.
