Why don't you take the time to read through the forums before asking questions? You just try to download and run without reading and trying to understand what you're doing.
AT&T cannot unlock bootloader through HTC dev until superCID is achieved. Motochopper exploit within the AIO toolkit will temp root and give you supercid, then you unlock through htc dev, then you can flash recovery then flash su then S-OFF. then flash whatever. There's a ****load to know about this phone so we don't like taking the time to re-explain to every lazy noob there is, if you're not willing to read and learn and search you're going to have a lot of problems so you may as well stay stock.

Lol anytime! With this phone I'm kinda paranoid about flashing random things with my inspire that thing was a tank.
+1 to the inspire being a tank. if the older root methods don't work for you, I used the 1.85 RUU to upgrade my phone first and then rooted it because the one click didn't work for me on 1.73.
Root method didn't work... Tried 2 methods... If I factory reset and update, will it update all the way to 2.20 or came I.get it just to 1.85? Or can I run the 1.85 ruu even though it's on 1.73 firmware?

getting rid of "development purposes" screen during boot

Restore HTC One X to original factory settings!

Hi All,
I've been running the latest version of Viper for my HTC One X. I have to say, its quite a nice ROM. Unfortunately, it is not as stable as I would have hoped and I may be looking to sell my device. I was wondering what the easiest way to restore my One X to factory settings was with preferably keeping root. Any ideas?

Few questions:
boot loader unlocked?
Soff or Son?
Orignal phone carrier? rogers, att?
The easiest is just to flash one of the "stock but rooted" sense roms from the non original development section.
S-OFF if not already and flash one of the original roms for your device.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
It's unlocked, s-off I believe and is on AT&T. Could you send me a link to the original ROM? Also, will it be able to see updates and whatnot? Like will it be just as good as it was coming from the factory?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Here arw your choices... Since you have s off you could flasha stock rooted Rom or you could ruu to the latest jb Rom and root again since you have s off
I'd like to RUU to the latest HTC One X software. How would I go about it? Links are appreciated

One of the various reasons why the "one-click" methods always look suspicious to me. It often ends up being "one-click root method for every phone . . . except HTCs".
But by all means, OP should try it, and let us know.

Actually, this makes perfect sense in theory as you use that to root. It says nothing about unlocking the bootloader.
Once you have root, you could then SuperCID and then unlock your bootloader.

Can you get into fastboot or restore mode? If so, you can use the stock RUU and recovery software to get your phone back to square one. This thread has the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814217

You don't need to be in fastboot or recovery to run an RUU.
Plus, if the bootloader is unlocked, the RUU won't run until its relocked.

The phone needs to be detectable. So it must be in ROM, fastboot or recovery. If it cannot detect the phone, ruu won't work. If the phone is stuck at ROM loading, this is also usually acceptable for detection for ruu.

System can be wiped (no ROM), and device is still detectable, and RUU will run.
Anyway, I was commenting on the previous users statement that you MUST be in recovery or fastboot to run the RUU, which is false.

Dude are you even reading what we're saying? Which phone do you have?
Actually don't do anything. Don't do a thing. You have no idea what you're doing. You need to do a lot of reading and educate on the basics of Android.
First: find out what phone you actually have.
Second: go to that device's forum and stay in it.
Third: read.
Fourth: read.
Fifth: read.
Sixth: read.
Hopefully you're getting the picture.
