[Q] Recommend a VANILLA Jelly Bean Rom for a noob - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey!
Soo haven't been on here but I am starting to get bored of Touch Wiz ..so I was wondering if anyone can recommend me a PURE Android Rom, preferably something with all the current Android features that is also stable.
I also want to be able to run Google Wallet & DashClock Widget ..if possible!
Thanks

You can't really go wrong with cyanogenmod. I'm currently running a nightly of CarbonRom and I'm very happy with it. Not sure your going to get Google Wallet on a Verizon phone. DashClock is rolled into CarbonRom from memory.

Have to ask whats the difference from Cyanogenmod & CarbonRom? Since its a nightly is their any problems u encountered?
Thanks

Cyanogenmod is much closer to Vanilla 4.2.2 (but it does have some custom features). CarbonRom gives you a lot more settings that you can tweak (notifications, icons etc) and includes PIE and Halo. cyanogenmod and CarbonRom (on goo.im).
I had to go with the Nighly to get the camera working. The camera did not work on the stable release so it was suggested to use a Nightly.

you can easily get wallet working on a vzw gs3.

Yea I used the work around on it before when I rooted it, but I want a Vanilla ROM on which I can run it too

I will def look into Cyanogenmod
..also what is this PIE & HALO u speak of?

PIE is a new menu system (best way I can describe it). Halo is much harder to describe, so the video does it better.

I like CM the best. I don't find myself using the extra features (like PIE) that other ROMs have.

Which of all the Jelly Bean ROMs to use?

Now with the unlocked bootloader on the S3 there are all of a sudden a flood of AOKP and CM10 based ROMs. What ROM, whether it be LiquidSmooth, Official CM10, or a CM10 Kang build do you find to be the most stable, has the most working features, and has the best performance and battery life?
i would go with invisiblek's most recent nightly until the official has the mms fix built in. once it is i would use that since its by cyanogen so it should be the most stable around. there would be no excuse not to.

I only tried the cm10 nightly about a week ago i think, right when the bootloader was unlocked. seemed really nice to me, but I wanted the stock camera app/apk. anyone know if I can snag the stock camera app or even get it from my phone.... haven't tried yet.

Most Stable AOSP 4.2.2

Hey guys,
So I really want to get an AOSP rom but seems whenever i go to one i have problems. I tried LiquidSmooth R2 last night and had problems(LED light not working for SMS).
What would you recommend? I keep seeing CM10.1 but theres so many unofficial builds that i dont know which to go with. I just want stability which i know is a big thing ha. Any suggestions?

It honestly depends on what you want in a ROM as what works for me won't be good for you. Right now am running the Avatar ROM which is CM 10.1 with MIUI themes which is stable for me but like all ROMs you might not have the same experience.
Stable
Official cyanogenmods are usually stable. You can look on their site to find their downloads if you're confused by the unofficia; vs official. Other than that as was previously stated, test out the rom (I usually give the rom a week to see what issues may be present) and use that to determine features you may like. If you want recommendations on roms I would say AOSPA (Paranoid Android), AOKP, Cyanogenmod, carbon rom, rootbox, liquidsmooth(but you already used that), Blackbean(You can try 7, but 8 is on the way), and that's pretty much it, also don't completely turn away from unofficial builds yet. Read the forums and find out about them a little. I've been running an unofficial rootbox with cherrypicks for the last two weeks and it is rock solid for example. Hopefully this helps you out with you decision. Have fun and happy flashing

Liquid works the best for me, great combination of stability and speed. It's also extremely smooth

I haven't tried Paranoid. I can say that Slimbeans is very stable, fast and beautifully constructed. You really won't find any problems that don't exist in the 4.22 ROMs, as a whole.

For me AOKP and Eclipse were the most stable. So it depends on your phone n your setup also preferences

official jelly bam 4.2.2

for those that dont know there is an official jelly bam rom for the hercules on gooim which would be compatable with the sr. im running it now on my hercules and its the smoothest 4.2.2 rom ive run. no real bugs that ive found in the 24hrs ive been using it.
Reason people might not know is because Jellybam ROMS are not allowed on XDA due to the original maker getting banned from here because he was/still uses PACman sources and tried passing it as his own. Look it up on the att Galaxy Note one forums and you'll see, or in the international S2 forums.

you should be able to use either version. if you use the herc version you will need the rotation fix or sr kernel.

Thanks ... i did not Camera Zoom FX touch to focus on Jelly Bean rom. I thought the CM10 camera drivers compiled had the issue... so I assumed JellyBAM may have inherited that.
Has anyone tested this for sure. I did not want to pay and then regret it.

you can try to find a free camera apk that supports touch to focus on playstore or in the apps thread but i heard that camera zoom fx does and a lot of people on the herc thread suggest it.

Mint jelly and nottachs xposed app talk.

Here we can talk about anything you want thats based on mint jelly or nottachs exposed app.We can discuss settings, batteries, kernels,we can argue, make friends, make enemies, whatever just PLEASE HAVE FUN
I'm a huge fan of KT kernel and currently have it on my S3 with CM ROM. Monday my new S4 arrives and I'm thinking of sticking with semi stock Rom. mint came up on the list if highly regarded and compatible (even packaged with KT)
Two q for you
1. Do all the Sammy features work in mint like dual camera and that ir remote etc...
2. Any chance you can share your settings file for KT and give an idea how is your battery life and performance with min/KT... Of course I know battery life is not the same for everyone so just wondering about your experience.
Thanks dude.

1. All the Samsung features are left intact and working for me. It's the awesome camera app that's making it tough for me to go AOSP. He removed the AT&T bloat only.
2. I'm running KT's settings in post three of his thread for the kernel. I'm not seeing anymore lag issues and battery has improved over stock. I'm very happy with it.
i'm also running kt kernel and his recommended settings and it's been amazing so far. Also love the trinity colors set to cold (more blues).

Uh no, absolutely incorrect. Both CM and PA build from their own code source. PA was based on CM ages ago, but no longer. PA is very much more AOSP that CM is at this point.
ill try building a GE edition rom, been meaning to try it out, hopefully i can get it done.
its kind of useless to get rid of the few extra cm additions. you can turn them off if you dont like them and have basically the exact same look as what you get on a nexus device.
