Mint jelly and nottachs xposed app talk. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

Here we can talk about anything you want thats based on mint jelly or nottachs exposed app.We can discuss settings, batteries, kernels,we can argue, make friends, make enemies, whatever just PLEASE HAVE FUN

I'm a huge fan of KT kernel and currently have it on my S3 with CM ROM. Monday my new S4 arrives and I'm thinking of sticking with semi stock Rom. mint came up on the list if highly regarded and compatible (even packaged with KT)
Two q for you
1. Do all the Sammy features work in mint like dual camera and that ir remote etc...
2. Any chance you can share your settings file for KT and give an idea how is your battery life and performance with min/KT... Of course I know battery life is not the same for everyone so just wondering about your experience.
Thanks dude.

1. All the Samsung features are left intact and working for me. It's the awesome camera app that's making it tough for me to go AOSP. He removed the AT&T bloat only.
2. I'm running KT's settings in post three of his thread for the kernel. I'm not seeing anymore lag issues and battery has improved over stock. I'm very happy with it.

i'm also running kt kernel and his recommended settings and it's been amazing so far. Also love the trinity colors set to cold (more blues).

ohh yea i forgot about that, but i dont know that rom has xposed built in and it was made around nottachs app working so it might, they just updated it today to MF4 and i saw somewhere that someone had it working ona MF4 build i think, you cant even dl the newest build right now so slow there tring to get mirrors up

I may give foxhound a try. I tested jedi and haven't gone back to mint jelly after applying kt's kernel and switching the contacts apk with the one in mint jelly. Jedi is really snappy and I am also running nottach's xposed mod.

[Q] Most Complete Least Buggy JB ROM?

I've been playing around flashing new ROM's and they all seem to have issues. Does anyone know which JB ROM has the least amount of issues?

That's subjective. If there was one be all and end all least buggy and "best" ROM I imagine we all would be running it.
What I consider an issue may not be that big of a thing at all for you. Some phones play with each ROM a little differently as well and some bugs may affect yours that don't affect mine.
So you are already doing the best thing flashing and seeing what works best for you and with your phone. The OP of each ROM should tell you major issues affecting each: video not working, torch a little wonky, etc. So that will help you whittle it down a little. Other than that welcome to fun of flashing.

Well it doesn't hurt to ask the opinions of others so long as we all realize that they're opinions and not concrete absolute truths. Right now I'm running the LiquidSmooth R8 ROM and anything that uses voice input crashes. This means JP Google Search is borked! Now is this just my issue? Would a re-flash fix it or is it a known issue? Inquiring minds wanna know....

Ive been running CM10 mainly its super smooth and has good battery life. Remics JB rom is really good also
I've never really used voice input, so Im not going to be the greatest help there. Reflashes do clear up some issues, wouldn't hurt. Maybe even a fresh download of the ROM. If you havent already try inquiring in that particular ROMs thread, to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Good luck
Edit:
If its google search it may be your gapps, make sure you have the most current.

No I haven't , I once tried CM10 from scott. really an amazing rom but i was having lots of problems, while flashing the gaps,
I was doing may be wrong but i was flashing the right things i know, but well somehow i was not able to flash the rom properly, so I flashed this one , its only been a week, i am on this one.
But yes i will definitely give it a shot.
Is this one a complete daily driver ?
Little bugs doesn't matter(it depends) at all, stock had millions of them.!!
I am on 4.1.2 JB, If Slim bean is coming up with 4.2 I am going to try it for sure
Right now really happy with Liquid Smooth.

The thing you have to remember about these JB roms on our Infuse is that we are still using a modded GB kernel. Samsung as far as I know (I could be wrong) hasn't released the kernel source code for our device and it's making it very hard for them to update the kernel. I use Scott's CM10 4.2.1 right now and it's basically been bug free. It doesn't even have all the CM source code merged into it yet. I've never had a rom with so much free memory before! I think it's amazing what he is doing with our old device and he deserves MAJOR props and donations for all his efforts!

Yeah its slim bean that I have personally built from source. I really have zero bugs and use it as my daily driver. I mean it has the same bugs as any jb ROM because we all compile from Scotts cm10 build. Its the exact same as CM 10 except with a TON of custom features! I'm currently working on a 4.2.1 version that looks to hopefully be my smoothest yet. Check it out and lemme know what you think

Ok so I tried this Rom for a lil while and everything seems to b running smooth. Just one thing, when I made a phone call with factory headphones I couldn't hear anything and they couldn't hear me. When I unplugged them it was fine. I also had no echo which was great. I even tried Ac!d audio v5 and then I couldn't hear not one sound. If u could look into this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Btw this thing seems to b a beast. I would love to run this daily.

[Q] Recommend a VANILLA Jelly Bean Rom for a noob

Hey!
Soo haven't been on here but I am starting to get bored of Touch Wiz ..so I was wondering if anyone can recommend me a PURE Android Rom, preferably something with all the current Android features that is also stable.
I also want to be able to run Google Wallet & DashClock Widget ..if possible!
Thanks
You can't really go wrong with cyanogenmod. I'm currently running a nightly of CarbonRom and I'm very happy with it. Not sure your going to get Google Wallet on a Verizon phone. DashClock is rolled into CarbonRom from memory.

Thanks
Cyanogenmod is much closer to Vanilla 4.2.2 (but it does have some custom features). CarbonRom gives you a lot more settings that you can tweak (notifications, icons etc) and includes PIE and Halo. cyanogenmod and CarbonRom (on goo.im).
I had to go with the Nighly to get the camera working. The camera did not work on the stable release so it was suggested to use a Nightly.
you can easily get wallet working on a vzw gs3.

PIE is a new menu system (best way I can describe it). Halo is much harder to describe, so the video does it better.

4.2 and 4.3 development is just getting underway. They run very smooth, it just that some things are still broken, like the camera, bln, and few little things. There are workarounds in the specific threads. Im currently running slimbean 4.3. Beanstalk 4.3 is killer too.

I see in the CM10 thread this list of bugs:
Known Bugs:
Screen of Death: This is a CM10 bug, many other devices are afflicted, not just the blaze. Many people are working hard to fix this.
UI action sounds may not work at first. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons, the sounds will then work fine. This is a known CM10 bug
BLN is wonky. Working on getting us merged with the stable version native to CM10.
Fixed 20121103+ : WiFi generates a random MAC address with each boot.
Camera: Flash can't be disabled
Camera: Storage location cannot be changed. This isn't really a bug, however if the interest is great enough, I might try and figure out a way to change the system default storage location.
Other things maybe? Discuss in the thread...

Are all of these bugs still present in the latest builds?
The latest nightly is 99.8% stable. Occasionally occasional people have occasional problems once in a while. Nothing is 100% usually. I've been running it for many months now. Just user ICS camera from the market and set it to use your sd card for saving pics.

I've since moved on from CM10. Not that it wasn't superb, but I went flash happy
I'm currently running Slimbean 4.3 20130905, and I've gotta say its pretty sweet. Its in beta stages so there will be a few bugs, but honestly the only ones I've come across so far is the camera crashes, the torch crashes, and setting performance tweaks cause a reboot. Other than that its buttery smooth. I HIGHLY recommend it, sir. Its a lightweight build for superior performance, and it delivers through and through. Also flash with the minimal gapps build to keep performance nice and creamy. Slimbeam + minimal gapps = 140mgb. Smaller than your average ROM.
I would never steer a fellow android enthusiast in the wrong direction
Flash it and see. You won't be disappointed. But hey, even if you are, just flash another one!!

To be perfectly honest Liquid Smooth gave me some trouble. Even after doing a completely fresh flash it wasn't stable in the least.
That being said it never hurts to give it a shot. I saw somewhere a kernel you could flash possibly fixing any issues you may have with it. Unfortunately it didn't work for me
Slimbean, CM and beanstalk, in my opinion, are where you'll find ultimate performance and creaminess

Not really, the only thing that still exists is the stock camera doesn't have the option to save to the external SD card. Easily fixable by using a camera from the market, like 'ICS camera'.

any AOSP roms in the works?

Not sure which section this would go in so sorry if it's the wrong one.
Loving the M8 to death probably the best phone I've ever owned other than my gnex but would love to see some AOSP roms. Don't really care for sense and would love more of a lightweight Rom like AOSP. I feel we would get better performance as far as speed and battery life as well.
So is anyone working on one? Or need any testers?
Do you think an AOSP Rom would be perfect for the M8?
The ROM section(s)? GPE edition comes out in 4 days, I'm sure there will be some ports relatively quickly after that.
There is a GPE port and CM11. They aren't perfect yet but you can run them. Aren't too hard to find if you look around.

Well I can't post in the Rom section and the way it sits gpe isn't a daily driver nor has it been updated since the first alpha release. Not a fan of cm but good to hear it's coming. Just tired of sense holding this phone back.
The GPE port works okay other than some lag and the camera is annoying but works. They were saying to look in those sections not post there. Once CM11 is working I'm sure we'll see more but for now those are the options.

I do not consider CM to be asop. GPE yes, which I hope gets updated to fix the camera and what not because I can't use a Rom with a non stable camera. And I've already checked the Rom section or I wouldn't 've posting asking just saying. I'll just sit back and wait for something which I'm sure is coming sooner than later. I may end up
Brewing an asop Rom myself. Thanks for the input though guys!
To be clear - when I say GPE, I'm referring to the actual phone (One M8 Google Play Edition, ships on the 9th), not the ROM posted in the Android development forum.
Also, I literally just picked up this phone about an hour ago, and while I'm a huge fan of "stock," HTC has done an incredible job with this release.

I definitely agree HTC stepped their game up with sense 6 and keeping it's bloatware to the minimum. That being said I still prefer straight stock asop for its speed and battery not to mention I hate clutter. Also congrats on the new m8 which I'm sure you'll love. I love mine too that's why I didn't wait for the gpe device.

http://d-h.st/5Xs <-- from the dev himself but this version doesnt flash with twrp unless you know how to remove the asserts from the updater script .. i flashed this with Philz cwm recovery in the original dev section
https://mega.co.nz/#!8VEUDACD!n5nfBQYRnFymOup9NUxaAr0p7ZzrFvyf6jtX6wVMEDI <--- this version is what someone else posted .. said its the same rom just with the asserts already removed so that it works with twrp without having to do anything special
REMEMBER go download KK Gapps ... i recommend the stock normal Gapps .. i tried PA Gapps first and it kinda wasnt running right
themes i used were a combo of Moonshine (playstore free) and Black moonshine (playstore paid) both are gorgeous icon sets ... MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU FLASH THIS GUYS !!!!

OSE hasn't been updated since April so don't know what issues it has. Liquidsmooth 05/06 Nightly can be flashed via TWRP now but has these following bugs:
*No In call audio (they can't hear you & you can't hear them)
*Headphone jack still broken
*FFC is broken
*Low Resolution MMS Quality
CM11 5/6 nightly...
Works:
Installs on TWRP now, headphone works (using it now), camera works. Wifi works. Regular calls through the phone itself work.
Doesn't work:
Speakerphone still doesn't work.
Untested by me:
Bluetooth. MMS.
Looking better all the time.
