HI all.
finally ready to throw my old One X in the bin after trying 10 different Roms and 100 different tips on how to save the battery life etc as the battery life is just down right shocking.
i get between 6-7hours ONLY if i use the phone to read emails(syncing 4 gmail accounts with one of them i get email quit frequently, tweetcaster and tapatalk as well.), and only get maybe 30-40mins screen time only.
It is pathetic so i am looking to upgrade now.
I am leaning towards either a S4 and a One but i am favouring the S4 as it has interchangable batteries so that if my s4 battery dies i can carry spares. It also has expandable memory which the One doesnt .
Which device has better battery life?
Please post in these stickies that are a couple of threads above the one you started:

Hey guys, I need a phone which can last me a whole day. I've got 2 email accounts that need to be synced every 15 minutes. And I need alot of battery life to answer my emails and browse. Which android phone would be best for me? My carrier is Wind which uses the same bands as T-mobile.
Here's a list of phones supported by my carrier
GSM Arena
Thank you
you are only require to read the emails or replying it?
if only needing to read it, a small screen like 3 inch is enough for you to read... then iphone might be a good choice...
if you need to reply the mail, a bigger screen would be more convenient to type.
i have a galaxy note and i try to use it to last a full day everyday.
i on 3G whole day and i can get around 12 to 14 hours standby time in where the screen on time is accumulated to 4 hours...
you can get a thick battery, a mugen 4000mah (compare to stock 2500mah) sure you can get more screen on time with it.
galaxy S2 also has bigger spare battery. 1650 stock 2000mah spare.
The defy has a good battery...

Any smartphone barely lasts a day under heavy usage.
Just get one you like alot and get a spare battery + wall charger.
After alls its not an iphone .
Galaxy Note has the best battery, and for me is the best phone too
I have read so many reviews regarding the HTC One and Galaxy S4 my head is spinning. I think both are great phones but the thing that stands out for me is the removable battery for the S4.
I doubt most reviewers/editors actually use these devices for 2 years (normal contract) to actually experience a decline in battery life so I was hoping I could get some opinions from you guys on the subject.
My last few smart phones have always experienced some kind of degraded battery over time. Whether that is a few hours of life versus the new original battery or the battery is totally dead and causing random reboots and bulging to show issues with the cells.
Due to these past experiences having the ability to replace a battery over the phones life time is not a want but a need.
The ideal situation would be for phones that do not have a removable battery to warranty it for the normal contract span of two years. Or for battery tech to progress to a point where this is no longer a concern.
What have your experiences been? Do you agree or do you think in the last couple years they have made leaps and bounds in battery reliability? I currently have a GS2 so I'm a couple generations behind but I have not seen anything mentioning new battery tech in the latest devices. Thanks.
In my experience 3 different HTC desires and my old nexus one from 2-3 years old still had at least 3/4 of their original battery life. I traded the nexus for a desire HD and it needs a new battery, vibrator motor, and USB port (dishonest seller) so I've found many can go a few years on an original battery but usage habits can effect that too.
Non replaceable batteries are still replaceable so if u want to keep it a long time its probably not a huge deal to open it up and replace.

I am running an unofficial CM 10.1 ROM on my DHD and with 'slight' use I can probably get a full day out of the battery. Prior to the CM 10.1 ROM I was running a custom rooted ROM based on the final official android 2.3 ROM from HTC and I remember the battery lasting much longer (over 12-months ago). I won't be moving back to Gingerbread but want to improve my battery life and have seen good reports of the PolarCell batteries
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390392597069?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Has anyone replaced their stock battery with one of these? Any comments?
Andy
Would be interested in knowing this also. Dont suppose you took the plunge and bought one?
Hi guys
I would be interested too on this question, or another battery brand.
Only want that someone with experience tell us if possible which battery and what brand/model is the best nowadays to buy to our great Desire HD?
And if you can post the link where to buy and maybe some buyer reviews, would be wonderfully.
Because are too many "Fake" vendors nowadays.
But for some questions that I asked to other few members and one recognized developer, they said that one of best batteries are:
First - Oem
Second - Mugen
Third - Anker
....
That PolarCell I never heard do not know =S
Cheers
I guess dhd battery is a pain in the a** for everybody, I suggest you to go for sensation xe, evo 3d type batteries. There are plenty of ways to do it (with battery door or without) I was personally using without battery door because I was already using silicon cover for all phone. Btw you need to apply a small copper wire for external wireless antenna which is already built-in with your original battery door. Search for thread in this section you will find Evo3d battery thread. I have changed to HOX but still my wife is using my beloved DHD with 1950mah Mugen. Believe me it gives equal amount of satisfaction for this money. If you don't want to spend that amount, go for original Amaze 4g battery (which has the highest capacity when compare with evo 3d if I don't remember wrong) still you will be satisfied with battery life.
Please don't ask me, which rom am I using or how is battery life. It depends on people and how they are using.
I can give several examples, heavy usage with all the time 3g, bluetooth, mail sync, whatsapp, viber, browsing, auto brightness but no games and no wireless: it will handle 1.5 day.
or
Moderate usage, all the time mobile network on, a bit whatsapp, several regular calls, a bit browsing, no gaming and wireless off. My wife can easily manage for 2.5 days.
One more thing, if you will have 1950 mugen, your battery will stuck at %15, don't panic it will stay there for at least several hours (according to your usage ofc). Its some kind of a bug. I don't know if somebody found a solution.
I hope, my reply will enlighten you a bit Cheers!
Been using a Polarcell since october 2012 from the manufacturer CellePhone: (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B004I227RK)
New, it lasts the same as the original for me, that means about 3 hours of screen on with about the 70% of the total battery time, automatic brightness but mainly outdoors, so I bet that the auto brightness is actually full brightness the most part of the time, using 3G and no "data sync demanding apps running in background" except whatsapp and the usual google services.
I use to charge the battery every night while I sleep and even though I'm aware that overcharging a long time is harmful I use to let it charge until I wake the next morning.
With this usage schema, I'm facing today a 20% loss approximately, because the battery skips from 80% to 100% when charging.
So is more than a year of usage, around 400 charge cycles, and for 10€ is a good investment for me.
Being from a german company inspires more confidence than chinese clones.
Hope this helps to all of you folks!
A friend of mine picked one up and he had nothing but good things to say. I'll update this post once he replies to my text for exact details!
Bought one a few days ago from http://www.ebay.de/usr/wannsee-electronic (Germany).
The one i bought is for HTC Sensation, sold as 1800 mAh. To fit in DHD i remove the "film" and im surprising to see that on the aluminiumcase of the accu is written 1700 mAh.
Contact the merchant today and wait for an answer. So I didn't know it depends on Polarcell or the reseller...
I just got one myself for Desire S, it is a 1600mAh battery. Been using it for 3 days and I'm quite satisfied with this product.. I also bought one Anker battery for Desire HD....
I can't really compare those cuz its on a different device and different ROM. But I feel that both are doing fine for now..... You can give it a try.
Btw, Anker battery comes with full package, it comes with a box and manual.... The polarcell that I received just comes with a battery with no box, nothing else..
Maybe I would suggest you to get Anker.
Don't forget to use Battery Monitor Widget to see if its actualy a good battery.
I got one today for my old DHD.After couple days of usage I'll post and my opinions.

I'm very satisfy from this battery. After couple charges for 12 hours each now my battery seems very stable. I'm running 30 hours and more with enabled 3g all the time.30-40 minutes calls including viber and 2 hours and a half display on.I think that this is a very gods result for this product.....cost 13€ .

Hello,
I currently I own an Alcatel One touch 995 With CM10.2 and these last few weeks there has been lots of phones coming up for such little price and all with identical specs, being Moto G the best IMO as the screen isn't that big nor too small But what I'm concerned at is the Battery itself in long term.
Are there, currently, any ways to change the battery even if you have to take a part the phone ? Would that be the only option at the moment? I ask this because the two previous phones I had, had battery issues after about 1,5 years.
Another thing, how much would you think a battery would last only for Texting, 2-3 calls a day, browsing and about of 1 hour of gaming(not intensive games). According to the posts in another thread you get arround 2 days of battery ?
And finally, if I buy the 16gb version how much storage would I have? Considering the 8gb it comes with 5gb usable, I presume you would have arround 12-13GB?
Any answers on this topic would be appreciated.

Read the forum and You will get the answers. Shortly, Moto is made easy, all You need just new battery and open 14 screws and that's it, OS takes about 3GB, battery usage depends of personal usage, it's good, better as the most ones.

Do you have any source, plus where could the battery be bought? I've been searching the forums but only external battery packs.
As long as I get longer than and the batter can be replaced I'm happy:
note: Battery is new This is the first recharge
anyone know why there are no roms or kernels for this phone? wonder if it's because of a locked bootleader? that and the fact that the battery life sux balls i think i might return this. i love the camera and the feel of it but it's still rather laggy even after the newest update
thanks all
No roms and kernels because no custom recovery.
No custom recovery because locked bootloader.
Not sure why you're getting poor battery performance.
Battery life is brilliant for me, I can go a whole day of normal use (my normal use is probably heavy use to most people) and still have 40% when I go to bed .
What kind of apps are you using to get such lag and battery drain?
Yea, i see everyone complaining about the battery life but i have had no issues with battery life or drainage.
that was with just the basics installed. 100 percent when i start the day around 8:30 the used it to stream pandora for an hour on the way to work. then it sat in my pocked unused and the battery was at 15 percent by 1.
this is even with my battery saver proggie running that cuts of the wifi and cell antenna's when screen is off. no idea im assuming the battery is defective. but now that i know there's not gonna be roms and such i think i might just say fark it and get the m9. i see that there are already tons of roms for that. and i came from a og 3vo so i recognize all the developers.
it's just a bummer i love the curve and the camera on this thing. this is also my third gflex 2 since i got it 3 days ago. the first one just started bootlooping after fifteen mins, the second did the same and now the third seems to work good but the battery life is horrible.
tis a predicament rofl.
thanks for the info gang

If that's the case then you might be right about a defective battery.
Either that or the screen is coming on in your pocket, you'd probably notice your skin burning as the phone heats up though.
Have you checked Settings> Battery> Battery Usage, just to see what's using the most battery?
If you're not happy with the flex 2, the m9 is a great phone.
I got my hands on a prototype about 6 months before release, the only reason I didn't get one is that it just didn't feel right in my hand.
Battery life compare to my old Flex 1 is crap. I know its smaller and better screen resolution, but still my old G2 had better battery life than Flex 2 with same screen resolution and battery.
OP should go cr8 it
