Hello,
I currently I own an Alcatel One touch 995 With CM10.2 and these last few weeks there has been lots of phones coming up for such little price and all with identical specs, being Moto G the best IMO as the screen isn't that big nor too small But what I'm concerned at is the Battery itself in long term.
Are there, currently, any ways to change the battery even if you have to take a part the phone ? Would that be the only option at the moment? I ask this because the two previous phones I had, had battery issues after about 1,5 years.
Another thing, how much would you think a battery would last only for Texting, 2-3 calls a day, browsing and about of 1 hour of gaming(not intensive games). According to the posts in another thread you get arround 2 days of battery ?
And finally, if I buy the 16gb version how much storage would I have? Considering the 8gb it comes with 5gb usable, I presume you would have arround 12-13GB?
Any answers on this topic would be appreciated.

Read the forum and You will get the answers. Shortly, Moto is made easy, all You need just new battery and open 14 screws and that's it, OS takes about 3GB, battery usage depends of personal usage, it's good, better as the most ones.

Do you have any source, plus where could the battery be bought? I've been searching the forums but only external battery packs.
As long as I get longer than and the batter can be replaced I'm happy:
note: Battery is new This is the first recharge

the battery life. I mean 1230 isn't small compared to iPhone 3G that I currently have, so I'd assume it would last longer. I hope.
are there programs to optimize battery life? I've never used android and don't know hardly anything about custom stuff. I browse the web and check Facebook pretty often during the day (got to kill time on bus rides to class) as well as music and texting often. I'm a little worried about how the battery will fair for me :/
Anyone know if there are extended batteries for this? (I'd also assume that the one for the DHD fits as well)
I have seen 1600 batteries for the Desire HD so maybe they will work for the inspire
I totally agree. My ONLY reservation about the Inspire is the pint-sized battery!
I've had discussions on other boards about this exact issue, and there are some Inspire lovers who are so attached to this phone they feel offended when I try holding their feet to the fire during discussions regarding the battery life.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that even though most people who have already decided to buy the Inspire don't have any reservations about the battery life, I still do. But hopefully more info will come out regarding the lightweight battery. Then I hope we all can make a better decision on whether or not to get this phone!
I am certainly not going to let the battery size affect my decision.
I have seen many reviews all stating 10-12 hours with heavy use, it seems they have optimized this phone since the original desire HD

Thats pretty much how I feel about it, this phone is pretty damn fast and for 99 bucks it's a hell of a deal!
1200 mah battery?
That's gonna go fast with android....unless you take the "smart" out of smartphone (eg. Disabling 3g, auto-sync, email fetching etc.)
If you get this phone, an extended battery seems a must.....
Especialy since you're new with android. The iphone "just works" compared with android...you have to put your own tweaks here and there to make it your version of "perfect", but that's what makes android android

I love all the subjective guessing around here, watch some reviews read some reviews everyone has stated 10-12 hour battery life with moderate to heavy use, dont just assume because of the millwatt hours that it will automatically suck, and dont compare it to previous models because there has been some optimization
Officially, the battery is said to provide up to 6 hours of talk time and as much as 15.5 days of standby. Those are pretty amazing estimates for such a small battery. In our tests the Inspire 4G was able to provide 10-11 hours of use – including making a bunch of voice calls (some longer than 15 minutes), watching live-streaming TV news feeds, checking and answering my emails every 5 minutes or so, having the built-in GPS help find a friend’s location and even playing a few games of Solitaire. HTC is doing something right with squeezing so much from such a compact battery pack.

This is just one review of the many
Im sure there will be an extended battery for this phone. it makes no sense not to make one! and htc has been good so far so why not build an extended battery.
I've been testing this phone since late last week and can say that the battery live is comparable to most other android handsets currently on the market. If you're a heavy user, don't expect to get more than 9-12 hours out of the battery.
The longest the battery has lasted for me was 25 hours. On Saturday I used to phone pretty lightly (2 phone calls, a couple text messages, checked twitter throughout the day, downloaded 700MB worth of files for Dungeon Defenders over Wi-Fi, and played the game for about 30 minutes). When I went to bed, the phone was at 13% battery life, but I left it unplugged overnight to see if it would last until the morning. With all notifications and sync still on, the Inspire still had 3% battery life when I woke up 9 hours later.
I'd imaging if I didn't download 700BM of data the phone would have lasted much longer under "light use."

"Optimized" what do you mean? Is there proof that ATT optimized the rom to run longer then the original Desire HD?
The battery size isn't going to keep me away but i just like to know. I also noticed that the inspire has SLCD instead LCD in the DHD. Will the super lcd screen give a better battery life?
Eventhough, extended battery is released, how will it fit into the phone. Is there enough room for a larger battery. This phone will be my next sucessor to my nexus one. It will do til the next real Nexus. I just love the unibody style.

I love all the baseless justification for a retarded consumer move to save money.
Htc always has to mess something up in their phones.
This time, luckily, its only the battery which can be easily replaced

meanwhile there are posts from nick above from HTC source and he actually has the phone and he states over and over 9-12 hours heavy use.
ok guys, I'm very excited about getting this phone. But I don't really want buyer's remorse, so help convince me 100%!
to be honest, I like having the latest and greatest phone. I constantly monitor the tech world (Gizmodo and Engadget are my top two pages on Chrome!), but coming from a 18 month old 3G iphone, pretty much anything now is an upgrade. I just don't want to regret getting this and being locked in for two years while the "future" is released in half a month afterwards. So justify the things holding me back:
screen resolution
battery
single core Scorpion
no sideloading
if you guys could kindly help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

well the supposedly great qHD screen on the atrix has been having some none pleasant reviews with colors and app recreation. The superamoled on samsungs has burn in and doesnt save battery so the SuperLCD doesnt look that bad huh?
Battery has been consistently getting 9-12 hours heavy use by many reviewers
the processor in the inspire is pulling 1976 quadrant scores bone stock
sideloading really not a big deal, use airplane mode or sideload wonder machine
any questions?
nope thanks man, I'm 99% sold! I just need to google what side load wonder machine is lol. I'm loving the build quality and support from HTC and you guys here, though I've never rooted or flashed or anything. Guess I'll start learning

side load wonder machine is from android central and it allows you to sideload apps on AT&T phones that dont allow it. PS theres a thread in one of the Inspire sections on here
ah, sounds sweet. I'm getting excited. Though, I'll probably wait for MWC to at least happen in case they surprise us. And one last question I think, anyone have pictures or a source of the 2 different colors they have?

its weird at CES they showed a bronze color if you check out the videos you will see but now they are all black, im thinking CES was a desire HD with AT&T logo on the back, thats also why they didnt allow you to turn on the phone
I am running an unofficial CM 10.1 ROM on my DHD and with 'slight' use I can probably get a full day out of the battery. Prior to the CM 10.1 ROM I was running a custom rooted ROM based on the final official android 2.3 ROM from HTC and I remember the battery lasting much longer (over 12-months ago). I won't be moving back to Gingerbread but want to improve my battery life and have seen good reports of the PolarCell batteries
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390392597069?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Has anyone replaced their stock battery with one of these? Any comments?
Andy
Would be interested in knowing this also. Dont suppose you took the plunge and bought one?
Hi guys
I would be interested too on this question, or another battery brand.
Only want that someone with experience tell us if possible which battery and what brand/model is the best nowadays to buy to our great Desire HD?
And if you can post the link where to buy and maybe some buyer reviews, would be wonderfully.
Because are too many "Fake" vendors nowadays.
But for some questions that I asked to other few members and one recognized developer, they said that one of best batteries are:
First - Oem
Second - Mugen
Third - Anker
....
That PolarCell I never heard do not know =S
Cheers
I guess dhd battery is a pain in the a** for everybody, I suggest you to go for sensation xe, evo 3d type batteries. There are plenty of ways to do it (with battery door or without) I was personally using without battery door because I was already using silicon cover for all phone. Btw you need to apply a small copper wire for external wireless antenna which is already built-in with your original battery door. Search for thread in this section you will find Evo3d battery thread. I have changed to HOX but still my wife is using my beloved DHD with 1950mah Mugen. Believe me it gives equal amount of satisfaction for this money. If you don't want to spend that amount, go for original Amaze 4g battery (which has the highest capacity when compare with evo 3d if I don't remember wrong) still you will be satisfied with battery life.
Please don't ask me, which rom am I using or how is battery life. It depends on people and how they are using.
I can give several examples, heavy usage with all the time 3g, bluetooth, mail sync, whatsapp, viber, browsing, auto brightness but no games and no wireless: it will handle 1.5 day.
or
Moderate usage, all the time mobile network on, a bit whatsapp, several regular calls, a bit browsing, no gaming and wireless off. My wife can easily manage for 2.5 days.
One more thing, if you will have 1950 mugen, your battery will stuck at %15, don't panic it will stay there for at least several hours (according to your usage ofc). Its some kind of a bug. I don't know if somebody found a solution.
I hope, my reply will enlighten you a bit Cheers!
Been using a Polarcell since october 2012 from the manufacturer CellePhone: (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B004I227RK)
New, it lasts the same as the original for me, that means about 3 hours of screen on with about the 70% of the total battery time, automatic brightness but mainly outdoors, so I bet that the auto brightness is actually full brightness the most part of the time, using 3G and no "data sync demanding apps running in background" except whatsapp and the usual google services.
I use to charge the battery every night while I sleep and even though I'm aware that overcharging a long time is harmful I use to let it charge until I wake the next morning.
With this usage schema, I'm facing today a 20% loss approximately, because the battery skips from 80% to 100% when charging.
So is more than a year of usage, around 400 charge cycles, and for 10€ is a good investment for me.
Being from a german company inspires more confidence than chinese clones.
Hope this helps to all of you folks!
A friend of mine picked one up and he had nothing but good things to say. I'll update this post once he replies to my text for exact details!
Bought one a few days ago from http://www.ebay.de/usr/wannsee-electronic (Germany).
The one i bought is for HTC Sensation, sold as 1800 mAh. To fit in DHD i remove the "film" and im surprising to see that on the aluminiumcase of the accu is written 1700 mAh.
Contact the merchant today and wait for an answer. So I didn't know it depends on Polarcell or the reseller...
I just got one myself for Desire S, it is a 1600mAh battery. Been using it for 3 days and I'm quite satisfied with this product.. I also bought one Anker battery for Desire HD....
I can't really compare those cuz its on a different device and different ROM. But I feel that both are doing fine for now..... You can give it a try.
Btw, Anker battery comes with full package, it comes with a box and manual.... The polarcell that I received just comes with a battery with no box, nothing else..
Maybe I would suggest you to get Anker.
Don't forget to use Battery Monitor Widget to see if its actualy a good battery.
I got one today for my old DHD.After couple days of usage I'll post and my opinions.

I'm very satisfy from this battery. After couple charges for 12 hours each now my battery seems very stable. I'm running 30 hours and more with enabled 3g all the time.30-40 minutes calls including viber and 2 hours and a half display on.I think that this is a very gods result for this product.....cost 13€ .

anyone know why there are no roms or kernels for this phone? wonder if it's because of a locked bootleader? that and the fact that the battery life sux balls i think i might return this. i love the camera and the feel of it but it's still rather laggy even after the newest update
thanks all
No roms and kernels because no custom recovery.
No custom recovery because locked bootloader.
Not sure why you're getting poor battery performance.
Battery life is brilliant for me, I can go a whole day of normal use (my normal use is probably heavy use to most people) and still have 40% when I go to bed .
What kind of apps are you using to get such lag and battery drain?
Yea, i see everyone complaining about the battery life but i have had no issues with battery life or drainage.
that was with just the basics installed. 100 percent when i start the day around 8:30 the used it to stream pandora for an hour on the way to work. then it sat in my pocked unused and the battery was at 15 percent by 1.
this is even with my battery saver proggie running that cuts of the wifi and cell antenna's when screen is off. no idea im assuming the battery is defective. but now that i know there's not gonna be roms and such i think i might just say fark it and get the m9. i see that there are already tons of roms for that. and i came from a og 3vo so i recognize all the developers.
it's just a bummer i love the curve and the camera on this thing. this is also my third gflex 2 since i got it 3 days ago. the first one just started bootlooping after fifteen mins, the second did the same and now the third seems to work good but the battery life is horrible.
tis a predicament rofl.
thanks for the info gang
j
If that's the case then you might be right about a defective battery.
Either that or the screen is coming on in your pocket, you'd probably notice your skin burning as the phone heats up though.
Have you checked Settings> Battery> Battery Usage, just to see what's using the most battery?
If you're not happy with the flex 2, the m9 is a great phone.
I got my hands on a prototype about 6 months before release, the only reason I didn't get one is that it just didn't feel right in my hand.
Battery life compare to my old Flex 1 is crap. I know its smaller and better screen resolution, but still my old G2 had better battery life than Flex 2 with same screen resolution and battery.
OP should go cr8 it

Tell us when your phone arrives and when you'll start porting... We all wait quietly
Preferably on the lower side of that sum - I'd prefer to spend 40-50 euros, 60 is only if the deal is really good. I also don't mind buying a used phone with virtually invisible crack or a couple of cracks on the screen that wouldn't interfere with functionality in any way.
Currently I had ASUS Zenfone 5, which I find okay in terms of performance (I need something at least as powerful), although the battery life was horrible (I bought it used so that might have been the problem). Having said that, I want my battery life to be as long as possible - those are the only two criteria. I will be installing a custom rom from this site of Android 6 (or is there Android 7 already?).
Please ask any questions if needed.
bump?
I'm not sure but if you want to use a custom 6.0 rom (and you know that off the bat), I'd look through the forums. I'm not sure if all phones have had custom roms made, so the phone you do decide to get would be dependent on if a rom you'd like to use is available. Battery life is also dependent on the rom/features within that version of a rom and how you use your phone. So, somebody could recommend a phone because of how their battery life is but yours may be completely different. I had a MotoG 2013 for quite a few years (just "upgraded" to a Samsung S4 a couple months ago). I know I was getting about 1.5-2 days from the MotoG 2013 as far as battery life goes, running a custom 6.0.1 rom. I miss that phone because I'm only getting (at best) 12 hours battery life with my Samsung S4 - usage is exactly the same on both phones.

Well, the phones that don't have such ports are probably too old in terms of performance anyway. But there is of course a general idea of battery life, and the conditions would be web browsing (mostly).

I searched this before posting, but the thread had no replies from January so hoping I can gain some insight and clarification on this.
I am new to Android and avoided it for a long time due to being perfectly satisfied with my Blackberry Q10. However a few years ago, I was intrigued by the original Pixel and knew whenever I switched , if I went Android it would be a Pixel. It ended up being a Pixel 2.
I say this because I spend a lot of time googling and researching before i ask a question to make sure i am as familiar as possible before i ask something that can be found just as fast on my own.
That being said, i can't find an answer to "What is a typical capacity loss over a number of months...?"
I just got the phone in January. Didn't know anything about capacity until i noticed a huge drop in expected battery time after unplugging my phone. It used to be 21-23 hours expected from 100%. Now its only about 10-15 hours, depending on the day. Researched batteries and learned about Accubattery. Looked at the health and saw i'm only at 2284 our of 2700. It says GOOD health..but is that really good health after only 3 1/2 months? Also..unfortunately i have no idea what the original real life capacity was because i never checked until End of March when i discovered Accubattery.
Just wondering should i return the phone or accept this level of battery. At this rate..does't seem like I will get through a year on this phone.
ADDITIONAL INFO - I have used 3rd party charging cables (Nekteck)and Samsung bricks. The cables give me roughly the same amount of juice as the charger that came with the phone ( around 1300 Mah max, more juice if I'm charging from a lower percentage start point )

Stop apps from running in the background. Your WhatsApp, Facebook, Marco Polo, weather widgets, etc are using your battery.
Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
I don't have many running in the back. I don't have Marco Polo or Whatsapp. All my others I shut down to and when I check apps are using very low percentage. But my question is more the battery health reading. is 2200 healthy after 3 months use?
Is the phone battery actually draining twice as fast now or is the battery reporting just wrong?
The phone seems to behave normally, but being I'm not an Android user for long I don't know what normal is. I know things differ phone to phone. If I use my screen and read articles the battery drains fast to me. Compared to others who consider reading as light use. I get "better" life if I watch videos. I suppose because I'm not touching the screen. Streaming I can do for hours. I think what I'm trying to understand is...how accurate and important is a battery capacity reading? Should I be concerned that it says im only getting around 2200 out of 2700? For an almost phone I would think the capacity would be closer to the design capacity?

Take a screen shot of the reduced battery capacity reading and send it to Google's customer service from your support menu in the system settings.
