cheapest voice and data plan?

I am currently running an AT&T 8525 running WM6.0. It has been working just fine the last 3 years, but I am getting the itch to buy an android phone, since WM7 looks like it will have no backward compatibility. I actually do not have a data plan with this phone, and am on a $39.95 monthly talk plan ($50 after all the fees they tack on). So far, it looks like most of the talk and data plans are running at least $70, which I am sure will be over $80 after fees. It seems awfully hard to justify that much extra money every year. I have seen some of the ads for unlimited talk and web for $40 (metro PCS?) but their phones don't look very intersting. I am really liking the android MyTouch with the dpad and 5 megapixal camera. Anybody have a cheap talk and data plan that would work with a phone like that? Thanks for any advice you could give.
T-mobile CSRs are usually pretty good at giving you deals. I have a grandfathered plan where I have unlimited 3G (and 3G+, if you have a G2) for $20/month and unlimited family texting for $10. I don't have a great deal on voice, because I'm on a family plan, but if you talk to a CSR you might be able to get those 2 deals above. You're on your own for the voice plan though.
Useful info here Thanks

[Q] Family Plan Question

Hello all
I'll be getting my first smartphone in a week (the Inspire 4G of course) and I had a question regarding family plans.
When getting this phone I will be buy a data plan also; no one else on the family plan will have data, just me. I know the data plan will be $15 a month extra for just my phone, not anyone else.
My question is, will there be any "other" costs that will be added to the plan, just for updating a phone, or for getting a smartphone?
You will have an $18 upgrade fee, but thats about it.
Ok, so there shouldn't be any additional monthly payments?
internet and u will have the other phone 9.99 etc
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
There are no additional costs for a smartphone other than the required data plan.

Yep, just the data plan costs per month, and the one-time upgrade fee (unless you complain and they take the upgrade fee off your checkout).
Ok great, so just to be sure if there are extra charges, they were put there without my consent?
.........and taxes and 911 fees and other misc. crap, but data does not include texts or tethering, those are separate plans. And the $15 plan is only 200Mb. that goes really fast. My 14 year old uses almost his entire 2Gb from the $25 plan every month, just diddling around at school and with his friends FBing and tweeting even with WiFi at home.
i got 200 MB
im no where near going over
but im on wifi at least 80 % time

Thanks for the help, I'm not too worried about the 200mbs. I'm always around wifi and when I'm not the most my data would go towards is a few emails.

The cheapest plan that has the the best balance of data (5 GB a month data allowance), unlimited texting, and calling (100 monthly minutes) is T mobiles plan for $30 a month I know it's $5 more a month then what your looking for but if your willing to spend the extra $5 a month it's worth it. The other plan I could find for $25 a month is AT&T's prepaid smartphone plan with unlimited text messaging, 250 minutes of nationwide calling, but no data allowance. The T-mobile is a bring your own device type of plan while the prepaid ATT plan I'm not 100% sure about whether you can bring your own device or not.
Good Luck
good luck in your search and be sure to post and let us know whats the best deal you find

Possible to activate the $30 T-Mobile Walmart plan on Chromebook?

I am trying to find the cheapest, high-speed data plan for my chromebook which I bring around pretty often. I think that the t-mobile $30 plan is the best deal. Anyone know how to activate it on a hp chromebook device?

Gear S3 on t-mobile restricted to 512kbs

So today i went to tmobile website then talked to rep and confirmed that if u dont have a phone plan/account with them and decided to get an S3 on there tmobile one plan you get unlimited data but at a maximum speed of 512kbs. That isnt lte speeds. So basically they advertise the watch being lte but dont allow it. Not sure whether it is the same if you have an existing plan.
Unlimited data for $15/mo with a 512 kbps speed cap sounds like a great plan to me. I wish they'd offer that deal to smartphones. Or even tablets.

The S3 cannot be put on data plan. It goes on a specific a wearable plan that includes talk, text and data. It cost $5 as an add on line. If the watch line is your only account, it's $15. There are a couple of Verizon customers here with watch lines at T-Mobile.

Correct, I'm a Verizon customer for my cell phone and T-Mobile for my watch. It's $15 a month for I think 500MB but don't quote me, or $20 a month for unlimited everything. Honestly with 512kb/s I'm not complaining. I'm not streaming Netflix 4k to my watch so what is there for myself to worry about?
