The cheapest plan that has the the best balance of data (5 GB a month data allowance), unlimited texting, and calling (100 monthly minutes) is T mobiles plan for $30 a month I know it's $5 more a month then what your looking for but if your willing to spend the extra $5 a month it's worth it. The other plan I could find for $25 a month is AT&T's prepaid smartphone plan with unlimited text messaging, 250 minutes of nationwide calling, but no data allowance. The T-mobile is a bring your own device type of plan while the prepaid ATT plan I'm not 100% sure about whether you can bring your own device or not.
Good Luck
good luck in your search and be sure to post and let us know whats the best deal you find

Hello all
I'll be getting my first smartphone in a week (the Inspire 4G of course) and I had a question regarding family plans.
When getting this phone I will be buy a data plan also; no one else on the family plan will have data, just me. I know the data plan will be $15 a month extra for just my phone, not anyone else.
My question is, will there be any "other" costs that will be added to the plan, just for updating a phone, or for getting a smartphone?
You will have an $18 upgrade fee, but thats about it.
Ok, so there shouldn't be any additional monthly payments?
internet and u will have the other phone 9.99 etc

There are no additional costs for a smartphone other than the required data plan.

Yep, just the data plan costs per month, and the one-time upgrade fee (unless you complain and they take the upgrade fee off your checkout).
Ok great, so just to be sure if there are extra charges, they were put there without my consent?
.........and taxes and 911 fees and other misc. crap, but data does not include texts or tethering, those are separate plans. And the $15 plan is only 200Mb. that goes really fast. My 14 year old uses almost his entire 2Gb from the $25 plan every month, just diddling around at school and with his friends FBing and tweeting even with WiFi at home.
i got 200 MB
im no where near going over
but im on wifi at least 80 % time

Thanks for the help, I'm not too worried about the 200mbs. I'm always around wifi and when I'm not the most my data would go towards is a few emails.
T-mobile just announced few of their new 4G prepaid plan today. You can get unlimited talk / text with 2GB of high speed data for $60 without signing any contract.
This plan is better than simple mobile $60 plan since simple mobile is only good for 1GB of data.

Huh? 1GB? I have been with SM for more than 2 yrs and I reach 2gb or more every month with no cap.

It's about a month old, I switched from flex pay to this earlier this month. I was a bit irritated when I found this out. I had to log out of my account to find it because if you are logged in it wont let you see it. So I instantly cancelled my flex pay account because I was paying more for less....
if you dont talk much like me go for the $30 100 min unl text and data up to 5gb
I don't care for data caps myself.
well unless you have a grandfathered plan you have a cap nowdays...except for sprint and their joke of a 4g network
F'ing T-Mobile, when I signed up for it, it said there was no limit on the $70/month plan. Now all the sudden there is. I was wondering at first what $60 plan he was talking about, because when I set mine up there were two options, $50/month for unlimited talk and text, and 2gb data 4g, and the other was $70 unlimited everything. Now there's a bunch of different things and caps on everything.. I feel scammed.
that is why there is no contract , they can change anytime they want.. if you want fix price go w/ contract where they can't increase the prices for your usage.
I've been thinking about trying straight talk. My data speeds just aren't that great, and I have to pay out the butt for .5 mb - 1 mb data speeds. They have packages were you use sprint, VZ or AT&T towers. If I switched over I would just go buy a One X from at&t for $550 ( or keep my E4GT bc I think you can flash it over). I'm on a family plan with my girlfriend and our sprint bill is $180 bucks a month! I could buy a One X for $550 and a used Iphone 4s for her for like $350.
Investment in phones : $900
$50 a month for 2 phones for 2 years : $2400
Total: $3300
Sprint bill for 2 years: $4320
What do you guys think?
I could even just flash a different networks PRL and use a lot of data and get sprint to cancel my service. Then sell our devices for around $700 for both. If I did that and if they canceled my service would they cancel hers as well? I am the primary btw...

How do you manage to get it that high?! I am not familiar with Sprint plans. Why don't you go to the at&t site and see whether you or your girlfriend qualify for a discount through your school/work. I get 25% off my voice service and I have a special deal on a grandfathered unlimited data plan.
I keep telling people to check these discounts. I asked a mod about creating carrier specific forum sections so we could discuss deals and carrier strategies but I was shot down (at least by one mod).
I get the 450 minute/5,000 nights and weekends/ unlimited mobile to mobile plan for $30 a month. My unlimited LTE data is $30 a month. My unlimited text messaging is $20. So that is $80 a month for unlimited everything except for daytime landline calls (I consider 5,000 minutes of night/weekend land line calls unlimited). I'm thinking of dropping the text messaging and having a $60 bill.
I pay 100 for everythking data and 1500 minutes ( dont need that many but its the lowest family plan). 10 premium data charge for 2 phones. 8 for phone insurance. And 20 for the extra line. Then 16 i. Sprint surcharges and 8 in government taxes. Do you not pay surcharges or taxes on your plan. Whats the grand total for your bill? If not going to straight talk was considering at&t. Also i think a carrier specific forum is a great idea btw.

Will the Walmart $30 unlimited plan work on a tablet? I don't really care about the text or 100 min of talk I just want to be able to use the 5G unlimited data on my tablet,
