Dear Members,
I've been using HTC Inspire 4G for the past 3 months (Not rooted or altered in anyways). The device intermittently (like once in 3-4 days, I mean) switches itself off and even after plugging the charger in, the LED won't flash. I've to remove the battery and then reinsert it to power it on. I tried many (in fact ALL the methods suggested by the HTC support team) but none of them worked.
Anybody here knows what's going wrong with my phone?? Please help,
Ron

I had a similar problem once with my moms phone , however we had a warranty.
My opinion is that the problem is the battery.
try borrowing a friends battery and see if it makes a difference

Hi guys
I've had the Sensation for about 3months now, and suddently yesterday it stopped working. It wont charge, no LED's and wont start at all. There have not been any waterdamage, drops or rough use.
I've read a lot concerning similar problems on this forum, but none of the solutions has worked for me.
What I can tell is that I have tried after searching the forums:
- SDK, ADB and try to reboot the device via USB-connection (device not found)
- Win7 (32bit) can't recognise the phone (asking for drivers which are not found in HTC Sync, QHSUSB_DLOAD)
- Trying to enter recovery mode (Volume Down + Power up)
- Charge the battery overnight
- Charge the battery with a plastic-piece covering the two middle pins on the battery (As suggested in a thread)
- Battery out for 1min and then put it back in and start up
Neither of these worked, so are there any other good ideas? Or is it bricked?
Hi guys,
i have exactly the same problem, already have tried all of these solutions, nothing have worked for me... Please help.
PS:sometimes my screen lights up <black totally, but lights up>... when plugged into usb cable or charger... but not now anymore...
I have bought this phone in china, there is S/N but i guess that here in UK i cannot do anything about it since HTC's warranty is not global...

Also keep note of which recovery you are working off of. There have been charging issues with certain recoveries.
Yeah, I read several threads and posts about recovery-issues... Unfortuantly I cant check what version I got myself, as it wont start up at all :/

I would suggest to go to a store that sell's the Sensation and ask if you can test one of their batteries out to see if your phone has either a battery issue or something else. If you are stateside, of course try a tmobile store, but without knowing where you are located, this is a hypothetical at this point.
I know I had an issue with my Nexus1 not booting up from a kernel I had flashed. But I noticed my charging led was flashing three times and then stop. I researched this here on xda and found that it just needed to be put into recovery again somehow. I ended up just plugging the phone into the wall and remove the battery. Try to power it on there and then reinsert the battery and try the power + volume down button. That time it booted for me. But again, this was for my Nexus1 not with this phone.
same happened to me, sent to HTC and had main board replaced, lcd, flex cable etc. the driver the phone looks for is the equip HTC use to jtag... I am not sure if this is a hardware failure or boot corruption...but even though it was s-off via alpha rev it was that damaged they didnt complain... i say hardware failure. the thing is even when i have s-off i didnt change the rom. I have a riff box on order so if this happens again we can surely see if this failure is software or hardware..
Yeah, do what kpjimmy said; go to a store where Sensation's are sold and ask if you could use a battery to test it out to see if it's bricked. It it's not, you'll need a new battery (try getting one for free from HTC, citing warranty. I did it with my battery cover). If it doesn't work, you're mostly likely bricked, unfortunately. Refer to anarchy's post for more info on that side of things
Same problem here yesterday.. can't charge. But phone heat. I just pull out battery, n put back.keep repeated that. Finally can on. U use custom kernal?

Havn't had the time to really do any custom ROM or the like, so the phone was all original from the factory...
Hi guys,
I'm new so please forgive me if this has alreqady been encoutered, although I looked and couldn't find anything.
I have a HTC Desire GSM, rooted, running the BCM ICS rom, latest version (4 something). I installed it properly, making a backup, wiping everything etc, I have had this rom installed for over a week, and it has been working fine. I have been able to charge it off my laptop and the mains, turn it off/reboot etc with no problems.
However today, whilst I was reading an ebook (and it was plugged into laptop charging), it suddenly shutdown, saying there was no battery left. I thought this was strange, so I tried to turn it on, first normally, then recovery, then hard reboot -all to no avail. So I plugged it into the mains to see if it would charge, and no, it won't. I've tried removing the battery etc, and this won't work so I'm stumped.
Does anyone know what's happened? If not, is there any more information I can give/is there any other thread that could help?
Thanks

Hey,
I have the same, or at least similar problem: It's too bad you never got an answer here. Did you ever figure it out?
It hapenned in March, and I have bought a new phone since, but I am currently trying to figure out what's wrong with my Desire. I was also running the (then current) BCM ICS ROM. At some point, my phone stopped charging. I noticed the problem while the rom was running, but I simply couldn't get it to charge, and it eventually ran out of juice.
I initially assumed that it was a contact problem with the micro-usb port, but taking the phone apart and examining it could not confirm this. Now I wonder whether perhaps it is simply a problem with the battery. Can the desire be turned on when plugged in if the battery is removed? If it can, this would indicate that the problem I am having is not related to the battery.
Thanks.

As we know that ICS for our old Desire is beta, maybe something crashed and caused this. have you got another cable to test if its not its fault?

It cannot be a software issue, because even when the phone is off, it doesn't charge. I have also tried several different cables plugged into several different sources- I am confident that the problem is either with the battery, or the phone itself.
Are you having the same or similar problem as leemrlee and I?
New Thread
By the way, in case anybody is following this, I started a thread specific to my problem in the Desire Q&A forum, as I think this topic (Battery problems with the HTC Desire) is more appropriate over there.

Im not sure if its worth it as the phone is soo old
It's possible it's a problem with the charger and/or battery. Try and borrow a compatible charger and battery from someone else (I dunno if other HTC phones use the same battery, if not, it may be hard to find someone).
Also, before doing that even, try turning on the phone while holding the volume down button. If that makes the bootloader screen appear, it may be a software issue. In this case, you could try running one of the RUUs (these are HTC issued applications which run on your computer and reinstall the stock ROM on your phone, at least that's how I understand it).
If you can't access the bootloader, it's probably a hardware issue e.g. problem with battery/charger (easy to replace) or some other important component (not so easy to replace; in this case, it's probably either send to service centre or else buy a new phone).

Hi,
You're not going to believe this but .....
My Son's phone had the same problem and I figured an unusual way of sorting this out.
Did a lot of searching and there are many instances of HTC phones, when left discharged for weeks will not charge.
No solutions though - until now
The charger that came with the phone whistles (low buzzing noise) when the phone is disconnected.
I used this to determine that the phone, when dead, was not charging - I could hear the buzzing when the phone was connected.
Procedure I used as follows:
I warmed up the battery in my hands (told you it was unusual )
put the battery back in the phone
plugged in charger
it goes quite for a few seconds and then starts to buzz (indicating it no longer was charging)
plug out when this happens and repeat from step 3 until the buzzing stops (repeated 4 or 5 times)
once the buzzing didn't reappear indicating it was charging I left charger plugged in
after a few seconds the battery screen appeared with 0% & charging - SUCCESS
left it to charge as normal
If you don't have a (helpful) buzzing charger
you could try plugging out in the charger every 10 seconds
Thanks for all the posts. I managed to get it to boot by replacing the battery.
@haongusa your solution of warming the battery with my hands worked. I now have two batteries :silly:
wish i had seen this post a few weeks back my phone turned off and would not charge had to send it off to htc for repair, which took two weeks.
Hello
A few months ago my wife got a htc explorer which I rooted and installed jaggy rom onto it with no problems.
I got a Galaxy s3 upgrade so my wife started to use my old desire and the explorer was just put in a drawer as it was not needed.
I tried to charge the explorer today but nothing happens and I can't turn the phone on.
Anybody who can help me out please?
Cheers
Couple of things to try:
Remove the battery and then try to turn on while holding the volume down key.
Make sure there is no dust in the phone (I find the best way to get rid of dust from around ports etc. is a to lightly brush over them with a paintbrush [obviously without paint on it...]).
Heat the battery slightly by holding it in your hands/rubbing it for a minute or two. Place it in the phone again and try to charge again.
Try a different charger if possible (the Galaxy S3 probably uses the same charger, try it).
If you can get access to another battery of the correct type, try it.

connect the phone with charger and just keep it like that!! phones get deep discharged wen kept inactive for a long time!! just keep it in charging mode...it may take hours but it will work!!
Plug the charger to the wall. You should hear a noise.
Now plug the phone to the charger, while closely listening to the noise. It should stop or change when your phone starts drawing energy.
If it doesn't, try without the battery.
If it still doesn't work, you have to visit a service center.
Hiya
I have a HTC Sensation XE and will not turn on or show any signs of life.
I left it to charge for 24 hours and then i put a volt reader on the battery and it read 3.5v and when plugged in, the phone gives off 3.8v.
So i know that the battery has power and the phone does charge but it will not turn on for the love of god. Even when connected to the computer it isn't recognized as plugged in.
Can anyone help me turn on my phone please?
P.S. It went for repair at O2 for the same preblem and after 5 days of getting it back it has done the above.

can you access to the bootloader?
if not then do the unbricking project
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522351
if that fails too then do as the above user said(jtag method)
jtag is something like a machine(maybe i am not so sure)
go a local repair shop which has that kind of support but i think it will cost you a lot

j-tag? well it's a hardware, something like a connector which is able to resurrect bricked phones, only it can I think.

Sensation XE won't power on
I have a similar issue, Sensation xe beats version. New screen installed, battery run low and the device powered off...No LED when charging but Back-light comes on when plugged in but no boot (no sound or screen response) Device will also not go into hard rest and is not recognized on adb or the unbrick project.....(although not previously rooted I thought I would give it a try) I have searched XDA/Google for days and no one seems to have the exact issues I am having...may be sleep mode due to low power however every fix I have attempted has not worked, I am hopefull as the back-light does respond to the power button and automatically comes on when plugged in, shown as QHSUSB_DLOAD in windows 7.
would Jtag/riff sort this issue and what is the average cost to do so?
if not and it is a hardware issue with the PCB... possible processor code mismatch? (late night Google search to a Japanese forum regarding frequent battery pulls) can this also be re set and what would be the cost ?
many thanks in advance

Hello, I am facing the same Problem as that of yours. HTC Sensation XE
purchased from ebay with sellers warranty. The Phone worked fine for 10 days.
Today morning, it suddenly got switched off for no reason. When I press the Power Button,
it just flashes a white light (backlight). I tried to hold volume and power. Same thing..No change.
I tried to connect to power by removing battery and reinserting. The same backlight comes and no sign of charging
indicators(LED). Please let me know if you have solved your problem and what action has been taken
Thank you
