Hello
A few months ago my wife got a htc explorer which I rooted and installed jaggy rom onto it with no problems.
I got a Galaxy s3 upgrade so my wife started to use my old desire and the explorer was just put in a drawer as it was not needed.
I tried to charge the explorer today but nothing happens and I can't turn the phone on.
Anybody who can help me out please?
Cheers
Couple of things to try:
Remove the battery and then try to turn on while holding the volume down key.
Make sure there is no dust in the phone (I find the best way to get rid of dust from around ports etc. is a to lightly brush over them with a paintbrush [obviously without paint on it...]).
Heat the battery slightly by holding it in your hands/rubbing it for a minute or two. Place it in the phone again and try to charge again.
Try a different charger if possible (the Galaxy S3 probably uses the same charger, try it).
If you can get access to another battery of the correct type, try it.

connect the phone with charger and just keep it like that!! phones get deep discharged wen kept inactive for a long time!! just keep it in charging mode...it may take hours but it will work!!
Plug the charger to the wall. You should hear a noise.
Now plug the phone to the charger, while closely listening to the noise. It should stop or change when your phone starts drawing energy.
If it doesn't, try without the battery.
If it still doesn't work, you have to visit a service center.

I don't know if this is the right section if it isnt mod please move it..
I'm going crazy with this, last night I finished using my phone and I placed it next to my bed.. When I woke up I found the phone was off, it surprised me a bit because I didn't recall leaving it with very low battery. I proceeded to plug it to my computer to charge and I noticed that the led turned on a white light which I've never been aware of seeing before.. Came back after a couple of ours and the phone was just as how I left it, and still wouldn't turn on.. I've tried everything, removing the battery, the sim, the sd and that stuff..
Any ideas please!! I can't replace it for a new one, I bought it on amazon when I was in the states couple of months ago, I'm in Uruguay now.
Thank you in advanced!
Try a wall charger instead of the USB port on computer.
Funny fact

Im not sure if its worth it as the phone is soo old
It's possible it's a problem with the charger and/or battery. Try and borrow a compatible charger and battery from someone else (I dunno if other HTC phones use the same battery, if not, it may be hard to find someone).
Also, before doing that even, try turning on the phone while holding the volume down button. If that makes the bootloader screen appear, it may be a software issue. In this case, you could try running one of the RUUs (these are HTC issued applications which run on your computer and reinstall the stock ROM on your phone, at least that's how I understand it).
If you can't access the bootloader, it's probably a hardware issue e.g. problem with battery/charger (easy to replace) or some other important component (not so easy to replace; in this case, it's probably either send to service centre or else buy a new phone).

Hi,
You're not going to believe this but .....
My Son's phone had the same problem and I figured an unusual way of sorting this out.
Did a lot of searching and there are many instances of HTC phones, when left discharged for weeks will not charge.
No solutions though - until now
The charger that came with the phone whistles (low buzzing noise) when the phone is disconnected.
I used this to determine that the phone, when dead, was not charging - I could hear the buzzing when the phone was connected.
Procedure I used as follows:
I warmed up the battery in my hands (told you it was unusual )
put the battery back in the phone
plugged in charger
it goes quite for a few seconds and then starts to buzz (indicating it no longer was charging)
plug out when this happens and repeat from step 3 until the buzzing stops (repeated 4 or 5 times)
once the buzzing didn't reappear indicating it was charging I left charger plugged in
after a few seconds the battery screen appeared with 0% & charging - SUCCESS
left it to charge as normal
If you don't have a (helpful) buzzing charger
you could try plugging out in the charger every 10 seconds
Thanks for all the posts. I managed to get it to boot by replacing the battery.
@haongusa your solution of warming the battery with my hands worked. I now have two batteries :silly:
wish i had seen this post a few weeks back my phone turned off and would not charge had to send it off to htc for repair, which took two weeks.
Hey all, I just got through with this hurricane sandy business and now I find my phone not working at all. First off I'd like to say that there is no water damage to this phone and it is NOT rooted. The problem is that it just won't turn on at all, and won't charge when I try to charge the device. The day before I charged the phone and it worked fine. I can provide more details if needed but I need to find a solution to this.
Did it run down on battery completely before it did this? You might need to charge it for a bit before it turns on. Also, see if you can get your hands on a spare battery to see if it's the battery's problem. I would also try removing the battery and putting it back just to make sure it wasn't jostled loose.

Two days ago I completely let the battery drain on its own because it was draining faster than usual and I was using it very minimally due to the lack of phone signal during the power outage. And yesterday I charged it until it was 100% in the morning and at night I charged it again until 100%. Before I went to bed, I turned off my phone and it was 90% and when I turned it on in the morning it was at 77% (which I thought was weird since the phone was not even on). Now the phone will not work at all. I took the battery out and everything. I even tried turning the phone on while trying to charge it (but it would not charge). The only feedback I got was that it vibrated when I tried turning it on this afternoon and after that was nothing. (it would either get stuck at the AT&T bootup part or I would get no display at all)

And nothing happened to it in between at all? That's very odd. The only thing I can think of to try is another battery.

Nothing I can think of. It was fully charged by 9PM the other night and shut off before I went to bed. Next morning the batter is nearly halfway drained for no apparent reason. I think I will get another battery to test.
Also I let the battery sit out of the phone for a few days now and the phone still does not work.

Get a hold of a charged battery, then after 1 hour with no battery in the device, replace the battery remove the SD-Card and the SIM-Card, replace all covers. Reboot your PC and go to firewall tab in the control panel and turn of your firewalls, then reboot your PC, then using USB data cable not a charging cable.. with your device being OFF conect to a USB connection in the back of your PC, if it's a laptop use the one next to the intranet connection. Then wait about 1min. If nothing happwned, hold the volume down button then press and release the power button. if nothing happened, hold the volume up then press and release the power button. If nothing happened do the samething this time by holding both up and down volume buttons. If nothing happened with your device connected to the PC go to MY Computer tab right click on C>Properties then go to tools click on check disc tab check mark both options then restart your PC. Before windows tour OS starts, your PC will go through a self check. let it do its thing. it takes a couple of hours. then after its down check to see if it has seen your device. if not then do procedures above once again. GOOD LUCK.

Okay so I finally got it to turn on but in order to charge it, the phone must be turned off for some reason. Also, the touch screen is not working, even after I did a hard reset and erased all my data. I'm not sure if it is a hardware issue or a software issue because the display is working fine.

That same thing happened to a friend of mine. She took it to a technician tho and they sorted it out for her.
Hello every one, this just my first post here, but I have been follow the forum very very close since some days ago thanks to Mustaavalkosta and his new CyanogenMod Rom here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533007&page=283.
I am having a similar problem with my HTC Inspire, here is my story. I bought it like it a year ago, the first thing I do was to rooted with AAHK and install CyanoyenMod cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-ace. Everything works just fine till a couple of months ago. One night I just leave my Inspire and go to sleep, the next morning I wasn't able to turn on, not charging, not turn on. Was not the battery because my brother has another Inspire and I check with his battery. I just leave the phone without the battery and Sim and SD for a day and them come back again, but at next day the same occurs. I try all that time, vol down+power. voldown+volup, every convination but nothing works. So I decide to dissensambly my phone... in the process I broke the ribbon flex cable http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HTC-Desire-HD-Inspire-4G-Camera-Socket-Keypad-Membrane-PBC-Ribbon-Flex-Cable-/320925341841?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4ab8a41891 The phone was in parts on my table like a month till I was able to buy and recieve the ribbon (I live in Colombia). Finally the ribbon arrives 3 days ago, so I assembled the phone again and...magic! the phone turns on. My next step was install the Mustaavalkosta Rom that I mentioned before.... but, yesterday, my phone was dead again. So a try all steps again, put out the battery, Sim and Sd... and again try all the combinations of buttons, but nothing works... So I do it again: dissensably again my phone: Only disconnecting the display doesn't works... I have to disconect the display and the ribbon cable, assembled again and just turn on again.... Now I am waiting for the next black out...
I know is a weird behavior, but may be some one can point me in some direction to fix it.. I am not a developer or anything like that, but I like to investigate and solve problems... any help will be wonderful.
Cheers!
PD: I dont have any apps installed, just trying the Rom as it is.
PD: The next time it happens I will try the niavaran advises.

I was using my sensation two days ago with an one month old Anker battery and ViperS 3.1.3, overclocked to 1400 aprox. when suddenly it turned off. No charging light even changing battery for the original one, connected to computer, differents chargers, no answer. I left the phone overnight without battery and the next day I connected to the computer usb and turned on, could get into bootloader and even get into the rom itself normally. Even though after a couple of minutes, same history, suddenly turned off and not resurrecting anymore trying every method (different chargers, batteries, usb connection). By the way only being in the CWM for a couple of minutes it will also turn off like when running the rom. I am afraid this is a hardware problem, and everytime the phone gets a little hot it wont turn on again for some reason I dont understand. Just wonder if anyone around here had the same situation and is nothing else I can do rather than throw my phone or send it for repair (which is supose will cost me more money than a new one). Thanks!
i don't know if it helps but charge the device without battery, sim and sdcard for 4-5 hours
put them back and see how it goes
best wishes
Try using a different battery first.. might be a battery problem.
Thank you guys. I already tried changing battery replacing the Anker by the original. Yesterday also left it connected without battery or sd all night as suggested, still no answer. I will again today left it without nothing during the day, if it turn on again for a couple of minutes as yesterday I will try to flash other kernel and rom, even though that I am confident that is not the problem. I am afraid that is the end of my loyal Sensation.

Hi, I let my friend use my HTC Sensation around a week ago and he was playing a game when suddenly it turned off and did not turn on again.
I suspected it was the battery being drained to 0% as the battery was quite hot.
After getting home I plugged it into the charger with no LED showing or the phone turning on so I reseated the battery, tried charging the phone for 6 hours, tried taking out the battery for two days and leaving it and I also tried plugging it into my laptop with HTC Sync Manager only to find the QHUSB (Or something like that) issue. I am really worried and the only other things I could possibly think of doing is sending my phone to HTC (although warranty expired) or trying a new battery.
Please help
P.S
My HTC is rooted S-OFF (By factory)
and running ViperS 5.1
Thanks in advance
