Hello fellow Htc one s brothers and sisters:laugh: - HTC One S

So as many of you have already noticed by the many threads here on xda, htc has officially cancelled any type of software update to the awesome htc one s which is really disappointing considered this phone is capable of handling basically anything you can throw at it imo. That being said I personally am annoyed because I refused to root or use custom roms up until htc stopped ota updates support completely and so that day has come.I want to greet all the members and devs here on the htc one s forums and thank you all because with your wisdom and experiences as well as the latest and greatest custom roms kernal etc are only possible by you guys and so this phone will never die and will live on still competing against the latest and greatest phones. So yea sorry for the long rant but welcome another htc one s brother into the club . BTW anyone recommend some of the best roms and kernals that are the most stable I would greatly appreciate it so much thank you and long live the htc one s!!!!!:good::good::good::good:

[Q] Bring TripNRaver back to XDA

This is a Poll to show the support for or against TripNRaver's presence at XDA in the Sensation forum.
I love my sensation, and I feel his presence here could improve our device. I don't know the whole story from his past here, however, I think if the overwhelming majority of responses are favorable to having him here, maybe the Site owner would consider his return. I know it has been done for other Dev's in the past under Very similar situations (PM me for examples of this if you wish.)
This could be a very good thing for our devices, now that he has a Sense ROM as well.
I'd like that to. Let bygones be bygones.

In your opinion, exactly how many ICS roms are out there for the Desire S currently, which made you want to start a poll?
Let's also start a poll about "which is the worst, most useless thread on xda for the Desire S ?"

For the Desire s is only one out there, the others are just ics themed gingerbread roms. Or did you mean device independent?

Muru, i'm not trying to be rude or anything... just that it doesn't take much searching to understand that there is currently only one ROM in beta stage for the desire s and that is by superkid and mdeejay. Even that has not received an update in a week now... So a poll is definitely not warranted.
A simple question would have sufficed. But i, or far that matter any of the members here do not own xda so you are essentially free to ask what you want, and it's not my place to be moral police here... but it helps to keep the forum clean. That's why i had posted my comment. Please take it in the right spirit.
The forum is anyway cluttered with ICS question threads and the relevant ones get lost in all the cacophony. If you visit the ROM development thread, i'm sure it'll answer all your questions. Sorry for sounding unfriendly.
Peace.
your a ****, why do people do that, someone asks a question and you have to come back with a stupid answer and try to make them look small.
Because, as with just about every other forum on the Internet, there is free speech for all.
If somebody you had never met walked in to your place of work and asked "Let's take a poll - which is Rasher67's best wife" then you would react the same way (unless you are a Mormon or one of a select few Muslim groups who allow polygamy).
It was a stupid question and unnecessary - anybody who actually bothers reading the forums knows there is only one ICS ROM. Like so many people who drop by here they just ask a question without bothering to do any research first. I hung around here for over a year following advice I read before even signing up as there is so much advice available. As everyone who contributes here does it for free, they are bound to get annoyed at stupid questions from time to time - and annoyed at people like you who react the same way with only 4 posts to your name against people who have been here for a long time helping out and guiding those of us who don't know what we are doing.

Could be even better without the egos...

This is a great site and great community, every single developer on here has infinitely more knowledge than I do about android and I thank every one of you. I just can't help wondering how things could be even BETTER if some people could drop their ego's a little bit. I was just reading a few threads where one dev will offer another a piece of advice or constructive criticism and the the OP gets all bent out of shape. Why can't we all admit we aren't perfect and work together and share ALL the knowledge?

It's really not the questions I'm talking about, more the developer to developer interactions. I can think of only a handful of developers who comment in other peoples threads and try to help other people, and that's when I see the negative remarks, the "I'm not going to listen to your suggestions because I already know..." type things. If one developer solves a problem why not share it immediately? If one knows of a better way to do things, why not share it?
Because it would take away from the Devs thread traffic - Devs like to be exclusive if they fix something first (which goes back to the ego thing). Always been this way I'm afraid
Because that would make too much sense and not cause enough bull**** - duh.

Getting a forum for a new device.

Ok so as some of you may know development for the Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G is taking off somewhat and yet XDA is ignoring our requests for a forum in favor of devices that aren't out yet and devices that nobody much has heard of... I am posting this to ask anyone who remembers how long it took the Doubleshot to get its own forum as well as to ask my former community to help US out. (In other words... could y'all hit up the new forum request page and thank our posts/ bump the relay lol? (If this is against xda rules I apologize) or if anyone knows someone who can expedite this situation we'd all appreciate it.
Btw update - anyone wants my DS pm me, flex cable is failed and currently I have disassembled it while grounded and yes I'm tech savvy enough to not fry components. Idk how much to ask but make an offer lol.

Maybe XDA has a personal issue with phones with QWERTY keyboards.
We encountered this issue on my previous qwerty device also and believe me we almost got top 2 on the voting thread for new devices yet till now it still don't have any forum of its own. I already asked and the reason why it didn't get its own forum was not because of the lack of the community but instead the lack of real developers to support the device. To quote what the mod I talked to he said that
"XDA-developers" is a forum made for developers. Having even a thousand active members on a specific device but only have a handful of developers won't make it eligible for its own dedicated forum. As much as we'd like to provide every device it's own forum we also consider the cluttering of the forum itself so we are just narrowing down the devices on which we could get more active development than a forum full of average user questions.

That's the only thing we can do. I've contacted quite a few mods, and they all told me the same thing. Post in the forum. Sorry, I tried but there's nothing else i can do to expedite the process. it seems that they will only open the forum when they see fit.
@strapped, no offense, but that site seems kinda dead. Just like rootzwiki. Xda will create a thread for you guys eventually. I don't see the point in fragmenting the device across two sites. Keep at it

The scotsman messaged me back in response to a question I asked and his reply was that the decision is made by forum owners and admins over his head based on development potential of the device.
Now that, my friends, seems to be a bit of a debatable point doesn't it lol?

1. I'm not *****ing. I don't even have this device
2. It is a popularity contest. Xda has way more devs and exposure than the site you mentioned. Do I want more than what's needed? Of course. Who wouldn't?
3. Everyone buys a device for X reason. Avoiding a device because of the users is your choice. No one cares if you don't get this device
4. You mad bro?

1. If not *****ing then why not go somewhere that could potentially give a home for that device....on a Samsung hacking site.
2. Popularity? Really, being popular has nothing at all to do with development. The best dev in the world could have this device and with no home, no one would ever know. So wouldn't you rather risk it? I personally post on themikmik sdx and xda.....why more advertisement
4. Is just a personal choice because of what I see in these threads.( device and slider related in general)
5. Mad nah not me, I'm getting the N4 as soon as I save my allowance ( joking )
You got my first morning post and yes I'm tired of sdx getting played. I learned so much from them guys and a few of them brought straight cm code into Sense for a first ever seen mod that everyone uses now. So I don't agree with xda being the holy grail of hackers and only thou can come here for their needs. Xda has really stopped caring for the average user and ONLY CARE ABOUT AD REVENUE and having the devices they feel will get them the most.
So I do wanna say "I'm sorry gtmaster303". Never meant to sound like the shot was at you when it was meant for xda. They need to see and realize their not the only place to come for hacks anymore, so stop treating us like kids and only giving us what XDA wants. If they were really for the user that thread would have been made as soon as something development related could have been posted

Thanks. Although I don't agree with you completely, it's good to know you didn't go rogue on me all of a sudden. If xda wants ad revenue, they would be creating ads for every device out. Although I don't understand why they won't readily create a forum for a device that clearly needs it. I don't agree with their logic. If there's even one dev for a device, a forum should be made. That's like saying "we'll only host the most popular of devices." By that token, popularity should not ensue. And under that jurisdiction, technically the Doubleshot shouldn't exist here either. Our community is quite small, even for a dev community. Most of the daily page hits xda gets from us are the same couple dozen people, some of which login multiple times per day (because they have no life, myself included )
But popularity of the site is still necessary. not that many people know about sdx. When they look for a new phone to buy (devs and modders alike) most will come to xda and poke around to see if the activity is up to their liking. If not, they'll probably search for a new device. Main reason why I haven't switched over to a Captivate Glide or a Droid 4...
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk 2
I must be weird then as I bought my device because
1. It was the closest thing to a G3 on the market and
2. I was (and still am) angry with and done with HTC after the lack of ICS on the doubleshot.
Oh and 3. My DS died;(
Nonetheless if we decide to move to that other site I'll have to get an android app for it lol.
I'm growing disgruntled with XDA lately but its kinda like a drug for me... and strapped... this device stock is just about equivalent to my ds when it died with regards to ease of use and overall response. I DO miss a trackpad and the home button lags just a bit... but that could be me having an aftermarket launcher with touchwiz frozen but not uninstalled.

Every lurker gets one chance in my book but after that one taste, we will hope all following questions will be about learning and helping others. Also, I would refrain from using the word hacks.
Now, I would suggest Jellybam which blends the best of many worlds and its ultra light and very fast. I would also urge you to try ViperrXL 3.0.0. Super fast and the battery life is unreal. Tweaks will follow soon as they aren't available yet.
Parting words:::: Read your butt off here. Your question has been asked a million times. It irritates many senior members. Research what others are saying by visiting the dev's threads in Android Development sections.

I don't mind answering questions even the ones that are asked plenty of times but these questions I kinda find a bit rude to devs...and a little ignorant and lazy on the users side...like it doesn't take much time to read the OP and see what's included and choose for yourself...
