USB Kit for TF700 turns screen off??? - Asus Transformer TF700

I recently purchased the ASUS USB Kit that was compatible with the TF700. However, whenever I go to insert the USB adapter into the device (empty or even with a a flash drive) it shuts my screen off. I go to turn my screen back on and it flashes for a second and the screen turns back off. Finally, when I unplug the drive, my screen comes back on and I have a notification icon that says "SD card has been removed". I searched some forms and didn't see anyone else having this issue. Is there something in the settings I need to do?? USB debugging is enabled as I am running the latest, stable CM 10.1. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Never seen that happen before... and we have a ton of these sold. I would contact ASUS for an RMA? Seems like a defect.
OR... there are copycat devices that I have seen. If you have the unofficial ASUS USB Kit then you may have more of an issue. The genuine original ASUS ones we have seem to not have any defects at all!

TF won't connect to PC via USB anymore

Hey folks,
I've been having a hell of a time getting my tf to connect to the pc via usb these last few days. No matter what I do it will not connect to any pc.
Drivers are installed fine and worked great in the past. The usb cable works fine with the charger and devices charges fine.
If I plug the USB into the pc and then into the TF the screen turns on, so it knows its there but refuses to allow communication between pc and tf on any computer I try.
In device settings USB tethering is greyed out and no matter what I try I cannot get it to allow me to turn it on. Shutdown, held button to reset, restarted pc's, notta.
I recently used NVFLASH to unroot my TF for an RMA that I never got around to doing. Now I want to root again but without the USB working I can't.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
No one else is experiencing this? Is my cord mucked? If so why does it still work for charging? Eeeeek! I'm freaking out here.

Is usb debugging turned on in the tf settings->application->development?
I have no idea what you're talking about with usb tethering in the settings...
Is the device being recognized by your pc? What operating system?
USB Tethering is greyed out on all TF's. If for sharing data service with another device and you dont have data service on the TF unless you have a dongle.
Have you tried putting into APX and checking. You don't boot the rom when using nvflash. Power / Vol + when booting
Yes, if you think about it Tethering is when you wish to pass your 3G connection be that either through SIM card or Dongle to another device.
If you don't have either a SIM Card with Data services (which you won't have) or a Dongle then it is only correct the Tethering option will remain greyed out.
Hey and thanks folks.
Neither of my PC's will detect my TF but both did just a few weeks ago.
Asus sync won't work either. In accounts/sync Asus sync is off and there is no way to turn it on. Don't know if this is normal or not.
I have USB debugging on but still it won't get detected. Restarted everything multiple times too.
I cannot enter apx mode however I had no trouble doing so before.
Like I said above i can still charge with my cord just no PC connectivity so I don't understand what's up.
As for USB tethering, when USB is plugged in it should allow me to select it (even though I don't want to) thus why I think the problem is related to the pad or cord not the PCs.
Thoughts?

This is not only annoying but it gets more and more confusing. I can connect my other Android devices to a PC and move files between the devices. I should be able to do the same with the Transformer and a PC.

Try new cable, the charging uses other pins/wires in the cable
Already ordered from ncix. Hopefully that's it or I'm out $45 with shipping.

Usb tethering is for sharing the data service on your TF. If you dont have 3g/4g service on your TF then it will not be available. Do you have a conflict listed in your device manager? I have had to reinstall the Asus suite twice at this point and manually remove the drivers from device manager

[Q]Faulty Screen

So I've had my Transformer since May and all of a sudden it started playing up and now the screen will no longer display anything ive hooked it up to my tv via hdmi and everything is working fine, so does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
There are no settings for the HDMI connectivity. Be sure that its not an issue with your HDMI cable or TV itself. Maybe try another cable. If no luck there I would do a full wipe and flash the latest firmware.

No... he's saying the screen on the device doesnt work, but he can tell the tablet itself still does because he can hook it up to the tv with no problem...
To OP... im sorry i have no idea

Maybe the internal ribbon cable popped out? Did you drop it hard recently? Have you seen weird artifacts on the screen recently that might have been indicative of the cable becoming loose?

[Q] SDcard/usb thumbdrive

From day 1 (purchased 10/11) a SD card or usb thumbdrive on the TF101 pad has not mounted. First thought it was the keyboard dock, sent it back for repair, Asus sent it back nothing could be found wrong with it. Bought a 2nd dock same issues, tried other pads on my keyboard docks, no issue with cards or thumbdrives mounting. Called Asus they had me send the pad back for repair, just received it today and they said it tested OK/No trouble found. I give up!
Sounds like u are doing something wrong? Or your devices are in wrong format? Check its docking correctly? A notification in taskbar should show. One will also appear once usb is connected. Click on notification to access.
Also try both usb ports.

I've tried every type of format, both usb ports, sd slot, several types of thubdrives, usb debugging in settings, power on while they are inserted. Only notification I get is when I insert a Micro SD in the tab itself. I'm done with it! Selling the dock to a friend that does have one (we know it works with his pad) and the pad to someone else that has no interest in the dock. This setup was going to relieve me from carrying a laptop around at work, I thought. Moving on. Thanks for your help.
So... You came to the Q and A section, which one would assume means you have a question and need an answer. However, it seems like you're stating a problem, and your own solution. Are we needed here?
Typed by my thumb.
hawkxcore,
I apologize for not posting this as a question. After 3 months of trials and failures I was a little frustrated while writing. Next time I’ll remember to add a “?” at the end of a sentence. Thank you for the written comment on my error.

Problem with the keydock - undock/re-dock

I need some help here.
I gave my son the keydock for his tf300. The dock is working like a charm, but once the tablet has been undocked, he is not able to redock until he connects the power cord to the dock. As soon as the power has been connected, the dock is working, and he can then remove the power cord again.
I don't know, if this is a common problem or a faulty keydock. Could someone please give me a hint.
This message was send from my Xperia S
>>> If nothing goes right, go left<<<
This seams like a faulty dock mine doesn't do that. I can redock whenever i wan't no issues and no need for the power cord.
I would contact Asus see what they say.

[Q] Keep energized Dock`s USB ports when tablet is closed.

Do anybody know how to keep energized the USB ports of the dock while is closed???
I want to charge my phone via USB with my transformer stored in a schoolbag.
At fist time I thougth it was by hardware I mean a swich that turn off the USB ports when you close the tablet and dont care to much about this, but when I update my Transformer to ICS and put the option to keep active while is charging in developer options I note that even when my Transformer is closed with the dock it is still charging my phone via USB but only when Transformer is charging or conected to a PC.
So, anybody know how to keep active the tablet when its closed and no USB conected??????
An app???? A script that can run in terminal???? because I try with keep the screen on setting but didnt work.
Hope somebody can help me. Thanks in advance.
Try enabling the option to keep the wired network active when sleeping. I found that this seems to keep the USB ports active (although it also completely disables deep-sleep on the tablet, so there are battery trade-offs)....
Only problem is that I think that you need to connect a USB->Ethernet adapter in order for the option I'm talking about to appear (actually so that the entire "Ethernet" menu appears)...

Thanks I will try it
