Should you get a case for the LG Nexus 4?
Advantages of having a nexus 4 case
-(obviously) Protection for your phone
-Can include a stand so you wont need to hold it all the time
-Extra grip
-Can make your phone unique
-Sturdy hardware buttons to prevent accidental pressing(Varies throughout designs)
-Prevents it from getting dirty
Advantages of not having a case
-Glitter Glass shows(Shows alot better than transparent cases)
-Easier to swipe from the edge of the screen (Cases pop up at screen edges)
-Logos are more noticeable
-Looks better
-The smooth texture(Unless you want grip instead)
Cases give you grip/protection/.(recommended just in case something happens)
If your careful with your phone and like the special design then you probably wont be needing one covering your nexus. So in the end, its just protection VS looks.Press thanks if you made a decision on whether or not you want to use a case!

I think you missed the fact where THE WHOLE PHONE IS MADE OF GLASS

Case vs No Case?
I would go with case. My phone took a dive off my car after I set it there for literally 3 seconds (vehicle was not in motion at all). It made one small crack on the right hand side. Not a big deal right? Wrong. The digitizer failed on about 25% of the surface area right in the middle of the screen. In plain english that means no touch response on the screen, originating from the crack and extending the full width of the screen. This makes it difficult to text as it knocks out the T key in portrait keyboards and the message send button. In landscape it's also difficult. While a cracked screen may not seem like a big deal, it does suck when you have to drop ~$80 for a new digitizer/LCD.
The phone looks beautiful without the case, but it's not enough to justify the risk.

I've done both ways. Mine is currently naked... But it makes me a little nervous. Just can't find a case that I'm really happy with.

I go naked at home and some places but in public I use this case

It's a no brainer!
OMG. This is all so dreary.
Look at your last phone. If its a mess and you're a clumsy git... get a case. If your old phone shows few signs of use then forgo the case.
Simples.

I cracked the back of my phone the first week I got it. A pallet jack just bumped my leg a cracked it by the speaker. This phones as fragile as the soft spot on a newborns head.

I always have front and back protectors for the glass but the only times I use a thick sturdy case is when I'm at the gym or know there is a risk of breaking for example when I went hiking

Some time ago I got one of these cases from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-CLEAR...G-GOOGLE-NEXUS-4-E960-ACCESSORY-/350692488954
I've been really happy with it. It's decently slim, seems like it provides pretty good protection, and with the translucent back, you can still see the original back of the phone (or dbrand skin in my case). It's very inexpensive, and the only downside I've found is that it makes the power button a bit stiff. Hasn't at all been a deal killer for me, though.

I use the OEM bumper case. Just yesterday I dropped my phone from waist height (about 3 feet) onto a tile floor and except for a few faint marks on the silver trim along the top of the bumper (that side hit the tile head on) no issues. Everyone who saw it was amazed I wasn't left with a cracked screen.

skinomi techskin black carbon fiber skin review for tmobile g2x

hello XDA.!!! well i just got in my mail today my skinomi techskin black carbon fiber skin and thought i might as well show you guys if anybody is interested in buying this skin ( comes with screen protector as well). as you can see i didn't cover up the with google (just to see how it looks).
The skin itself feels good in hand and the carbon fiber skin has a cool effect when put in sunlight. The skin doesn't add any bulk well maybe just like a little little you cant feel it at all. the little pieces that go around the phone where the hardest ones to put on the phone since it was hard lining them up so they wouldn't over lap each other. the carbon fiber skin also included there screen protector( like invisible shield). i have used there screen protectors before on my mytouch 4g and i really liked there screen protectors and how they felt. they do get the orange peel effect but let it sit there for maybe a whole night or 2 and it should look clear and good. overall im content with my purchase it was 25.50 in total i believe with shipping included its not a cheap skin but i think its worth it if you would like to make your g2x look sexy. my rating from 1-10 is a solid 9 for the fact that its kind of difficult to put on but with patience an empty room, no kids screaming , little bit of music, and around 30 minutes of your time you should be solid. to conclude its a great skin will prevent scratches on the back, sides , and screen but will not prevent screen cracks or anything of that sort since ITS NOT A CASE. Well hope you understood my review since its my first one.
oh and you can pick this up from amazon or skinomi website.
well heres the package you receive in the mail.

and heres how it looks like when you take it out.
Whats inside the tube.
well the installation of this skin was rating from dificult level 1-5 i rate a 4 because its a really sticky material (3m material) so it took me about 15 min to do the back just right. even tho i tried my best i know i messed up a little.
heres a look of the back.
another look.
Heres the final skin put on the phone and the rest of the pics. Taken with my dads blackberry sucky pics i know.
Thanks for the great review with pics.
Do you think it would be difficult to remove this skin after some time without actually causing some superficial damage to the stock body?

This skin is pretty cool stuff. With patience you get a perfect result! Minor gaps between the single foils, however, it feels worthy and the device is nicely protected without loosing its sleek design.
Perfect for me!
No additional case needed. I am keeping the Phone in my trouserpockets without worries.

It's really worth it. It gives a nice look and feel to it and it protects from scratches. I say you grab one they have life time warranty.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I picked up the dark wood grain pattern skinomi when i first got my g2x. So far i'm two months in and pleasantly surprised. it's a lot of moolah for a skin if you ask me, but the lifetime warranty sold me on it. It is one of the more difficult ones i've put on, but the pieces fit ok. Had a bit of trouble with the corners coming unstuck, but a few minutes of pressure secured them. I would definitely suggest a clear hard case to go over the skin if you are one to keep it in your pocket. Otherwise, you will get bits of lint/dirt stuck around the edges and it is unseemly. just my $.02, but if you've got the dough to blow (i used a gift card) then give it a shot.
I'll most likely order this once I recieve my replacement G2X.

I hardly drop my phone, and no I'm not being ignorant or cocky and saying "I'll never drop my phone". So I don't know can't find any cases of my like

But then again, I don't want to spend to much. I want a stylish case. any recommendation?
neo hybrid is probably one of the more stylish cases (though costs $30)

It is like you buy insurance, if you know when you will drop it, there is nothing to talk about, but $20-30 to protect your $600-700 investment I think really is worth it.
Check out the Poetic Atmosphere case, here's my review on it

It's a nice looking case and it's cheap too.
Sent from Flip's S4
I've been through two feature phones and three smart phones and I never used a case until this one. For previous phones I would at most put a skin on them. I dropped my last two phones (Palm Pre and Nexus S) from ~2 feet a few times and each time it landed on a corner. No major damage, just scuff marks. The reports across the web are that the S4 doesn't hold up too well in comparison to other phones when dropped. The screen runs right to the corner which makes me worry. That plus the phone being so much larger (and harder to hold on to) made me decide to go for a case. I went with the Spigen Neo Hybrid, and I think it's great. Doesn't add much thickness, looks great and should protect the phone.
If you're looking for something stylish, I'd recommend either Verus Oneye - http://www.zoarah.com/by-brand/verus/#ty%3Bpagination_contents%3B%2Fby-brand%2Fverus%2Fpage-2%2F
Or
Spigen Slim Armor - http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s4-case-slim-armor.html
Or If you dont mind a big case(with better protection), a Trident Aegis - http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-products/samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505/aegis-case-samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505.aspx
Today I went shopping for alternatives while waiting for the Spigen Neo Hybrid I ordered from across the atlantic, and stumbled across Samsungs own Protective Cover +. I had no idea what I was buying, but thought it could be worth the 20 bucks. Turns out it's actually a pretty solid case, with a sturdy polycarbonate back and what looks like TPU all around the sides. It even has holes on one of the corners to fit wrist straps and such.
I'm not a big fan of the grey TPU for the white version, but other than that I'm really impressed. Despite its name it's probably no more protective than a basic TPU shell though, in particular because it doesn't add more than a millimeter height to the edge of the screen.

Maybe a slim back cover is your like, covers are form-fitting snap-on covers that protect your cell phone without adding a lot of bulk, have openings for camera, volume/ side buttons, headset, charger jack and kickstand which allows access to all phone functions.
Nope, they aren't worth it when there is need for cheap Black Market spare parts.
Not a case man either but this case made me keep the S4. lol As far as being worth it ummm yea it's a 500 + phone. Only takes one drunk night. hehe

[Review] KLD "Smart" Cover white (cream) & 360 Degrees Rotating Case

Before you go and buy the White KLD "Smart wake Cover on ebay you may want to read this.
Hi guys
So i bought the KLD and waited almost a month for this to be delivered.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KLD-Smart-W...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item19dbff2bbc
Ill be honest its not the worst case in the world but far from how nice it seems in the pictures. The build quality is "ok", it seems to offer decent protection and it has access to everything including the SD card and SIM. The stand seems to work ok too
Now for the bad.
Its CLEARLY not white. Check the pics I have put up next to my white phone case and the white N5100 Its more of a cream or beige . Also it doesnt have Smart auto wake like advertised. Not too worried about this as i know magnets are supposed to be bad for your device or something. The coating that is holding the flap on thats been applied to the plastic back cover has not been put on well. Looks quite cheap and old. The case comes really close to the S Pen so me with very short finger nails, its really hard to access it and trying to press the volume and power button is a real mission. The flap covering the screen moves around a bit too I wouldnt recommend this case to anyone really. I wont be using it for long, waiting for Samsung to get the original book cases in. I would give this case a 3 out of 10

The 360 Rotating Case with auto sleep is much the same as this from amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Degree...9&sr=8-7&keywords=galaxy+note+8+case+rotating
The case isnt too bad, you have better access to your S Pen however u dont have access to your SD and SIM slot. The front flap is quite thick so its adds a bit of bulk to the device and a bit of weight too. Its really easy to rotate the device when its in the case so when u are using it in landscape mode it can move around really easy. It seems to add quite a bit of protection to the device and the auto sleep wake feature works even if you close it when your device is upside down. The viewing mode in portrait is a lot more slanted than in landscape and is not as stable but its seems to hold it ok. You can also use the strap used to keep the flap closed as a hand strap. I would give this case a 6 out of ten.
Shout if you want any more pics or info.
I have the samsung book cover and I hate it. Its cheaply made and I dont like the positions it allows me to hold the device in. Also, it takes a minimalist approach and basically just clips on the corners of the device. For $50 I expected more.
I recently ordered this off amazon and like it much better. Many more colors to choose from and the pen is easily accessible. It may only cost and $8 and some change but its worth atleast double that. I also got a screen protector from moko with good quality as well.

Does the samsung book cover have magnets that keep the flap closed if held upside down?
No, and that is just another reason to hate it. It does have the sleep! Wake function but because its not secured by anything while you carry it or heck when the wind blows to hard the lid can move which wakes the device. The one I listed above has a magnet built into the plastic lip and a small metal piece on the cover that secures it in place. It is secure and doesnt come in contact with the screen so it wont damage it.

I also bought a Zagg InvisibleSHIELD Screen Protector Full Body Guard OEM for $17,53.
I want a very good case to protect my phone without adding too much bulk and weight and also good grip. Because the phone is so slippy. Regarding the protector screen, I want one anti-glare and anti-fingerprint. Both items are suppose to delivery soon next week.
The question : DID I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE?
Well since you already bought them, how about you tell us, when they arrive?
I bought the trident kraken case for the one s and it left my up volume button u usable. I sent it back and then it was the bottom volume that didn't want to work. Hope yours works better

I'm not sure, but I think the case make my phone reboots itself sometimes.

It quite possible. Its not made for the phones buttons very well
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
It really depends if you want the Zagg on it or not.. I use a Trident Aegis since I got my phone and it works well still.. the plastic is cracking around the headphone port and power button but that's expected I guess since it's so thin there and also the cover for the usb port is starting to break off...
But the Zagg, I dunno.. I never liked having a screen protector on it. It doens't really help much. Anti-glare won't do much good since you can't see the phone in bright light anyway without fiddling with your brightness and wiping the screen for fingerprints isn't that hard...
I received the Zagg screen protector and the feeling when I touch the screen is quite different. I put the body protection on the back plus the Trident Aegis case. I hope the combinaison of both is the best protection for my phone. Since my phone has already some scratches.

Yeah and it will probably get some more over time.
But seriously, so what? It is just a phone which is meant to be used and a couple scratches won't hurt it. Plus, you won't see most scratches on the screen when it's turned on anyways.
I never understood people, who want the slimmest phone on the market and put a thick case around it....

When I choose the HTC One S, I never thought about his slim body. I had a used Samsung Galaxy SII with the screen broken because it fell down on tiles and my old phone lagged. I upgraded my phone and choose a HTC phone because its made in Taiwan which is my native country. I'm proud to be Taiwanese. Because I'm so clumsy, my HTC One S fell down one day after I bought it. It let the body some scratches on his sides. The screen is still intact and has no any scratche.

Cardboard for Nexus 6P

Hi,
Can anyone here tell me which cardboard works fine with Nexus 6P? Actually I have a OnePlus 2 Cardboard with me, but it doesn't work well with Nexus 6P. Many things doesn't work, pictures isn't prominent, sound is cracking... lot of issues. So, if anyone can tell me which cardboard will work with Nexus 6P, it will be really great. Also I'm from India so a Amazon.in link or similar would be really nice.
I was just coming on here to ask the same thing. I have the original cardboard and the 6P just doesn't fit.

The View Master one is great just keep in mind that the 6P just barely fit in it so you will be taking any cases off to use it.
I snagged a Star Wars cardboard from a Verizon store and it fits well with my 6p and Spek Candy She'll Grip case.

get the viewmaster thingy but from Amazon US, cheaper than Amazon India. Refund on import duty almost a given.
The version two cardboard was made for bigger phones (Nexus 6 among others). Anyways here you can view a few: https://www.google.com/get/cardboard/get-cardboard/
Though with the new Cardboard Camera app the next generation of cardboard boxes would ideally have a whole for a camera or a piece cut out at the top
You want one with a headstrap. And you'll be totally sold on the experience by not having to hold it to your face. It's amazing how effective it works. The front facing speakers are key here. I can take about 30 minutes of wearing it before starting to feel weird. Then it takes some time to get reacquainted back with the real world because your vestibular system is out of wack.
I got this one:
http://www.unofficialcardboard.com/products/2-0-plus?variant=7602772993
The only downside is that with the Spigen Rugged Armor case, the sticky pad doesn't adhere to the back well. But it's not a problem. The phone won't be sliding out of the side. Put something soft in the nose rest for more comfort. The 6p is a heavy thing to be held up by the bridge of your nose!
Edit: For those new to this, charge the phone beforehand. The VR apps are using a lot of the phone's capabilities.
I bought the viewmaster vr but I returned it because it is annoying to have to remove my phone case to make it fit and even then, it's not easy to get my large phone between the clamps.
Now I'm thinking of IAMCARDBOARD's new DSVCR item:

I did have some concern with the strap pressing on the side buttons, but I think if the buttons are kept to the top, the strap won't touch them. But for phones with buttons on both sides, then it would be an issue.

Google does not allow head straps, so no "certified" devices will have one.
https://static.googleusercontent.com/media/www.google.com/en//get/cardboard/downloads/wwgc_best_practices.pdf
Parts to avoid
Do not include a headstrap with your viewer. When the user holds the Cardboard with their
hands against the face, their head rotation speed is limited by the torso rotational speed
(which is much slower than the neck rotational speed). This reduces the chance of “VR
sickness” caused by rendering/IMU latency and increases the immersiveness in VR.
I've had the shinecon for about a month now. Love it, although it won't accommodate a case. I have s review thread somewhere here
