Trident Aegis + Zagg = good choice? - HTC One S

Hi everyone, ¸
I bought from eBay the blue Trident Aegis case for $32,50 (price + shipping) include car charger, USB cable and blue stylus.

I also bought a Zagg InvisibleSHIELD Screen Protector Full Body Guard OEM for $17,53.
I want a very good case to protect my phone without adding too much bulk and weight and also good grip. Because the phone is so slippy. Regarding the protector screen, I want one anti-glare and anti-fingerprint. Both items are suppose to delivery soon next week.
The question : DID I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE?

Well since you already bought them, how about you tell us, when they arrive?

I bought the trident kraken case for the one s and it left my up volume button u usable. I sent it back and then it was the bottom volume that didn't want to work. Hope yours works better

I'm not sure, but I think the case make my phone reboots itself sometimes.

It quite possible. Its not made for the phones buttons very well

It really depends if you want the Zagg on it or not.. I use a Trident Aegis since I got my phone and it works well still.. the plastic is cracking around the headphone port and power button but that's expected I guess since it's so thin there and also the cover for the usb port is starting to break off...
But the Zagg, I dunno.. I never liked having a screen protector on it. It doens't really help much. Anti-glare won't do much good since you can't see the phone in bright light anyway without fiddling with your brightness and wiping the screen for fingerprints isn't that hard...

I received the Zagg screen protector and the feeling when I touch the screen is quite different. I put the body protection on the back plus the Trident Aegis case. I hope the combinaison of both is the best protection for my phone. Since my phone has already some scratches.

Yeah and it will probably get some more over time.
But seriously, so what? It is just a phone which is meant to be used and a couple scratches won't hurt it. Plus, you won't see most scratches on the screen when it's turned on anyways.
I never understood people, who want the slimmest phone on the market and put a thick case around it....

When I choose the HTC One S, I never thought about his slim body. I had a used Samsung Galaxy SII with the screen broken because it fell down on tiles and my old phone lagged. I upgraded my phone and choose a HTC phone because its made in Taiwan which is my native country. I'm proud to be Taiwanese. Because I'm so clumsy, my HTC One S fell down one day after I bought it. It let the body some scratches on his sides. The screen is still intact and has no any scratche.

Protection

Just out of curiosity I just wanted to know what kind of protection people use on their Desire, so I thought I'd create a poll.
Hmm..there is no screen protector option....
Why isn't there a "none" option? I don't do anything other than put it in a pocket away from keys and loose change.
Thanks,
Dave

Same here
that has to be one of the pointless polls ever, why not just read hte threads peopel have posted and work it out yourself as there is such a wide range of accessories its impossible to cover htem all without another spam post?
There are the basics most peopel are using
screen protector + case! some people might even store their phone in a draw or locked away. I know the gf puts hers in a pocket + handbag + car seat
What Gel Cases are people using ?
I'm a little concerned that mine could scratch / mark the bottom lip of the
phone.
Now I'm looking for something a bit softer / more pliable !
Any ideas ?
screenprotector is enough !! for me
When mine arrives...I will get a gel case, screen protector and the original genuine HTC leather case
The screen protector is a must for me.
Hard plastic Expansys case + Brando UltraClear screen protector.

JAmes.
I use a genuine HTC screen protector along with the leather pouch, works very well for me.
I find the screen protector is a great fit, no bubbles, no dust, and the fit is so good you can't tell there's a cover on the screen. It also seems to be much more resistant to finger prints than the actual screen itself. You get two in a pack and only cost me £3.75 with free first class delivery from a seller on EBay.

I've got a cheap screen protector from ebay (pack of 6 for about £3) and a sena leather case. I really like the case, the only criticism is that i need both hands free to be able to get the phone out the case without risking dropping it. But i'd much rather live with that slight inconvenience than pay £7 or £8 a month for Tmobile insurance.
Just a screen protector and a trouser pocket.
Wow, I didn't even notice the barely there case until you said it!

[REVIEW] Otterbox Defender (ATT/Rogers)

Fits like a glove as it is meant for the ATT/Rogers version. All holes line up. The rubber is tougher and less shiny than the normal rubber otterbox uses (which i thought thank god) The only thing i dont like/not used to yet is how the phone mounts into the belt clip. You have to slowly "wedge it out" Here are some pictures. Any questions? The temperature after playing a game for 25 min is 43c (without case it was around 39c)

Whats your opinion on the power button? Is difficult to press?
Very easy. I notice i dont have to push as hard as my ebay rubber case i had before. Volume buttons are also easily pushed. The screen protector takes a bit away from the clarity. Still debating on popping it off or not.
i have the COMMUTER and its an AWESOME case...they just released it today Monday June 4th Wouldnt use any other one...

I recommend just popping it out, especially if you already use a screen protector. It comes out rather easy and the adhesive strip can be pulled out in practically one piece. The only thing I would suggest is to use something like a small piece of duct tape to remove the left over residual adhesive from inside the frame.
Does anyone have the purple and teal otterbox? I really want one!
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
They have not been released anywhere yet. ATT nor Otterbox carry them yet. I was told within the next few weeks.
It depends on your area, because most ATT store here in Hawaii had both Commuter and Defender Cases, I originally went with the commuter case but felt it added too much thickness and took away the design of the phone, so bought Htcs slim case. The have improved a lot in terms of rubber material and fit, especially coming from the evo 3d case.

im interested in the commuter....may pick one up. but im usong the ballistic sg right now and i have no complaints at all...best feature is somehow this ballistic case makes my power button feel perfect :-D i hate how it feels without a case!

I'm using the Defender too. Love everything about it except the screen protector. It makes the screen look glittery, for lack of a better word.
I use this very similar to otterbox and has a kickstand.

LG Nexus 4 Ballistic Shell Gel SG Series Case Review

Ok I gave this case a good two weeks of use so here's an honest review. Please excuse my horrid writing skills :silly:
I bought this case from a vendor on ebay for $22 shipped to my door step (He only had one in stock). When I recieved the case it was sexy. The materials used to make the Ballistic cases are top notch. This case makes you feel like your Nexus 4 will not die when it falls off of something. It is on the larger side of cases but I like big bulky cases.
OK for the past two weeks I have been using the Ballistic case non stop. I have dropped my phone from a pretty tall height onto concrete using this case. I was on a tall ladder about 12ft high and my phone was on top playing pandora. Well I derped and forgot the phone was up on top when I went to move the ladder. Lets just say it sounded bad when myt Nexus hit the concrete. I picked it up thinking of the worst and what do you know the case protected the Nexus 4 from any damage! So the case paid for itself already! The only negative thing I can say about this case is the rubber used is a little too soft and it does collect dust. Other then that I give this case a 9.5/10!
Ballistic Cases make otterbox's look like cheap plastic snap together ebay cases compared to the LG Nexus 4 Ballistic Shell Gel SG Series Case. I will never buy from another casemaker again!

Do you have a screen protector? How does the case fit with the screen protector?
Does the case cause the phone to get hot at all? I wonder sometimes if these thick cases cause devices to run warmer thus reducing the life of the phone.
Also is that a custom rom you're running? What clock/weather widget are you using?
Thanks again!

No screen protector on my device so I couldn't tell ya. Um no my device never gets hot with or without the case. And I am running the stock rom and the widget is HD Widgets.
What icons are you using on your launcher? Good review by the way.
Nice review. I have this same case and it is great. the response when pressing the power button is really good. The case makes the phone feel solid and secure in hand. I previously had the official bumper and while it showed off the phone it was slippery and I doubt it would have really protected it on a fall. I would have saved myself weeks of angst if I had bought the Ballistic case when I first got my N4.

Should you get a case for the LG Nexus 4?
Advantages of having a nexus 4 case
-(obviously) Protection for your phone
-Can include a stand so you wont need to hold it all the time
-Extra grip
-Can make your phone unique
-Sturdy hardware buttons to prevent accidental pressing(Varies throughout designs)
-Prevents it from getting dirty
Advantages of not having a case
-Glitter Glass shows(Shows alot better than transparent cases)
-Easier to swipe from the edge of the screen (Cases pop up at screen edges)
-Logos are more noticeable
-Looks better
-The smooth texture(Unless you want grip instead)
Cases give you grip/protection/.(recommended just in case something happens)
If your careful with your phone and like the special design then you probably wont be needing one covering your nexus. So in the end, its just protection VS looks.Press thanks if you made a decision on whether or not you want to use a case!
I think you missed the fact where THE WHOLE PHONE IS MADE OF GLASS

Case vs No Case?
I would go with case. My phone took a dive off my car after I set it there for literally 3 seconds (vehicle was not in motion at all). It made one small crack on the right hand side. Not a big deal right? Wrong. The digitizer failed on about 25% of the surface area right in the middle of the screen. In plain english that means no touch response on the screen, originating from the crack and extending the full width of the screen. This makes it difficult to text as it knocks out the T key in portrait keyboards and the message send button. In landscape it's also difficult. While a cracked screen may not seem like a big deal, it does suck when you have to drop ~$80 for a new digitizer/LCD.
The phone looks beautiful without the case, but it's not enough to justify the risk.
I've done both ways. Mine is currently naked... But it makes me a little nervous. Just can't find a case that I'm really happy with.

OMG. This is all so dreary.
Look at your last phone. If its a mess and you're a clumsy git... get a case. If your old phone shows few signs of use then forgo the case.
Simples.
I cracked the back of my phone the first week I got it. A pallet jack just bumped my leg a cracked it by the speaker. This phones as fragile as the soft spot on a newborns head.

I always have front and back protectors for the glass but the only times I use a thick sturdy case is when I'm at the gym or know there is a risk of breaking for example when I went hiking

Some time ago I got one of these cases from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-CLEAR...G-GOOGLE-NEXUS-4-E960-ACCESSORY-/350692488954
I've been really happy with it. It's decently slim, seems like it provides pretty good protection, and with the translucent back, you can still see the original back of the phone (or dbrand skin in my case). It's very inexpensive, and the only downside I've found is that it makes the power button a bit stiff. Hasn't at all been a deal killer for me, though.
I use the OEM bumper case. Just yesterday I dropped my phone from waist height (about 3 feet) onto a tile floor and except for a few faint marks on the silver trim along the top of the bumper (that side hit the tile head on) no issues. Everyone who saw it was amazed I wasn't left with a cracked screen.

I like my phone naked. No screen protector will feel as nice as gorillas glass 3.
For my nexus 4 I have the DBrand skin at the back. Too bad they didn't have a skin for the Moto G, only for the Moto X.
Picture taken from here
Keep in mind this is an $150 product; people are putting way too much protection/focus on cell phones these days
Using an S-Wave TPU Case + a matte screen protector cut by those local cellphone servicing shops here, since I didn't have a pre-cut SP. I'll probably get a proper SP soon or tempered glass.
some rant here:
Bought my Moto G from an online gray market, was a bit sad that it had a minuscule "s" scratch if light is shown at the right angles, since it was sold as brand new. That being said, I would like this phone to last for a while, and of course would want ample protection. That, and it took me a while to save up $150, being a college student. Of course, the phone's been only with me for a week. I'll get over it.

I am using Incipio Dual Pro case. I do not use a screen protector, the disadvantage of getting a bad touch control, reflection etc. is in my opinion not worth the trouble on nowadays Gorilla screens..........
I always use (for every android phone) some rubber-or-whatever-material case (http://images.esellerpro.com/2477/I/692/019/BLACK-02.JPG) and some cheap screen protector. Working fine always even when phone falls or whatever ...
