are cases worth it? - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

I hardly drop my phone, and no I'm not being ignorant or cocky and saying "I'll never drop my phone". So I don't know can't find any cases of my like

If you can't find any you like, you dont HAVE to buy a case...

You'll wish you had one the moment you drop it

But then again, I don't want to spend to much. I want a stylish case. any recommendation?

neo hybrid is probably one of the more stylish cases (though costs $30)
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2

It is like you buy insurance, if you know when you will drop it, there is nothing to talk about, but $20-30 to protect your $600-700 investment I think really is worth it.

Check out the Poetic Atmosphere case, here's my review on it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280103
It's a nice looking case and it's cheap too.
Sent from Flip's S4

I've been through two feature phones and three smart phones and I never used a case until this one. For previous phones I would at most put a skin on them. I dropped my last two phones (Palm Pre and Nexus S) from ~2 feet a few times and each time it landed on a corner. No major damage, just scuff marks. The reports across the web are that the S4 doesn't hold up too well in comparison to other phones when dropped. The screen runs right to the corner which makes me worry. That plus the phone being so much larger (and harder to hold on to) made me decide to go for a case. I went with the Spigen Neo Hybrid, and I think it's great. Doesn't add much thickness, looks great and should protect the phone.

If you're looking for something stylish, I'd recommend either Verus Oneye - http://www.zoarah.com/by-brand/verus/#ty%3Bpagination_contents%3B%2Fby-brand%2Fverus%2Fpage-2%2F
Or
Spigen Slim Armor - http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s4-case-slim-armor.html
Or If you dont mind a big case(with better protection), a Trident Aegis - http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-products/samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505/aegis-case-samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505.aspx

Today I went shopping for alternatives while waiting for the Spigen Neo Hybrid I ordered from across the atlantic, and stumbled across Samsungs own Protective Cover +. I had no idea what I was buying, but thought it could be worth the 20 bucks. Turns out it's actually a pretty solid case, with a sturdy polycarbonate back and what looks like TPU all around the sides. It even has holes on one of the corners to fit wrist straps and such.
I'm not a big fan of the grey TPU for the white version, but other than that I'm really impressed. Despite its name it's probably no more protective than a basic TPU shell though, in particular because it doesn't add more than a millimeter height to the edge of the screen.

Maybe a slim back cover is your like, covers are form-fitting snap-on covers that protect your cell phone without adding a lot of bulk, have openings for camera, volume/ side buttons, headset, charger jack and kickstand which allows access to all phone functions.

Nope, they aren't worth it when there is need for cheap Black Market spare parts.

Not a case man either but this case made me keep the S4. lol As far as being worth it ummm yea it's a 500 + phone. Only takes one drunk night. hehe

I did the exact same thing. I bought a carbon effect one from ebay (for next to nothing) to see how it looked, felt, protected the phone etc. and when it arrived, i was pretty happy. It looked decent enough and seemed to be of reasonable quality for the price so i put my phone in (which seemed to require an abnormal amount of effort) and then it appeared that the case was a little too tight. I then spent the next 20 minutes attempting to get my DHD out of it and when i finally did the imitation leather/material was starting to tear so i threw it away.
I also decided to buy myself a nice cheap Desire S style silicone/gel case from ebay (once again, for next to nothing) and i couldn't be happier! It offers more than ample protection and it looks great. So i'd advise that if you're on a budget that you stick to a gel case, unless you want to spend much more money on a higher quality leather flip case.
I think I've bought the same carbon case. It's a pain in the butt to get off lol
I purchased my case from Ebay uk the Seller username is phone_giants and the item is listed as"HTC DESIRE HD MOBILE PHONE LEATHER CASE COVER POUCH" hope this is useful.
PDair case
I've used PDair on both my Streak and Inspire, good quality and selection.
Me too, ideal for attaching to your belt as well as it comes with a belt clip, also have the htc one which I use to put into my shirt pocket, comes with a pull cord to pull it out of the case and protects the phone in your pocket/bag etc
I was quite rightly introduced (by the largest Vegan site on the planet) to the plight of animals when it comes to the meat and leather industry. So you might want to consider a TPU case or something else, especially after seeing these videos (i made a quick page).
I use a TPU case and it's been great alongside a separate sleeve. Thankfully there are many other options out there too.

Hi there!
I purchased this:
http://www.pielframa.com/htc-desire-hd-imagnum-cases.htm
The good:
Excellent general fit, durability and overall protection.
In a pinch the lid can double as a kickstand although within a rather narrow angle span.

The bad:
The fit around the micro usb port is a tad too tight but useable.
The ugly:
85€ + 15€ delivery to Greenland
Noreve looks cheaper but I have no experience with their products.

All in all it´s the best case i ever had.
Oh - BTW. The belt clip looks decent enough but i never use it. I just stick the whole thing in a pocket somewhere. Pants usually.

[Q] thinnest case availble

I am looking for a super thin case, what do you guys suggest?

This is probably the thinnest case you're gonna find for the G2x.

I also have 2 Nillkin cases, which are very thin (thinner than any tpu I've put on), but this one is definitely even thinner.
There are also "skins" you can put on the phone, but if you ever want to use the phone in a dock, then the skin will cause a problem...so I prefer a thin case that's quick and easy to remove.
Here is the ebay link where I bought mine from. The auction is over, but I'm sure if you click around on that page, you'll find another auction with the same case: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320735735257&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

lol...trident aegis is like the antithesis of "thin case."
thanks mm... that's exactly what i'm looking for. anyone else sell something like that in the states?
how long did yours take to arrive?
Anything from hong kong usually takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive
make certain that you notice there are areas of the phone that go unprotected with this case...it's light, quick to pop on and off, looks good, thin in your pocket. But if you drop it on the street, you're might have a problem.
what else do people suggest? if i wanted to go the full corner cover.
There is a pretty good tpu case at Walmart for like 15 bucks. Not thin compared to the nilkin, but covers the corners
EDIT: and is also one of the thinnest tpu cases i've seen
what's the brand name and do you have a link?

this is the case I have. Its cheap and its very thin. I have no problems with it. The only thing slightly off with this case is that it is difficult to hit the up/down volume button and the power button but its not too bad.
Ive been through 3 cases.
Thinnest probably is BodyGlove Grasp. I'm using that now.

Also, if your e looking for good protection, but fairly thin, easy to pull out of pocket, I recommend seidio surface case. It fully covers the case, but is thin and feels good in the hand. Someone here said the case scratched his phone, but I can't even see how thata possible because it is felt lined. I've had it over 2months now, and not a scratch. I got the optional holster with it, and I use it for most of my other cases. I have 8 for this p phone.
You don't wanna know where this was sent from.

My friend and I using that case right now, we ordered 2 different date (different sellers) and I got one with full cover and he got the one look like one on the pic. Btw, good case for the price, fit very good, exept the corner on his case.
I've got the TPU case from Amazon (can't post links, not enough posts yet) -- it really isn't thin at all... The corner is not exposed on the one I have. I mean, it was only $2.80 + shipping.. it fits perfectly, but it is just too thick for my taste, so I never use it. Without the case, the phone is nice and thin, with the TPU case, it is just too thick. The whole point in getting this phone it that it was less than 11 mm thick. With the case, it is more like 13 mm... meh..

OtterBox Commuter

I just got my Otterbox Commuter in the mail today and I am very impressed. I've used the Defender series on nearly every phone I've purchased, but since the Note 4 is already so large I decided to try a thinner case. Installation was simple, except I had a little trouble getting the rubber inside the headphone jack. It honestly makes the phone easier to hold and use as your fingers/thumbs are constantly overlapping onto the screen. The Commuter series has a hard plastic shell as its outer side, so the phone easily slides in and out of jean pockets. I've attached some images, but please note they were taken from my Galaxy S3 with a broken screen, so they were a little hard to take. I'll update this thread after a week with further thoughts about it's use and protection.

How slick is the grip? I just got my Defender yesterday and it adds a good 1/2" to the width it seems. I had tried the Spigen ones but they are pretty slick and don't seem to offer much protection.
Will get mine tomorrow. Quite curious how much the device will grow in size

So, how has the commuter been holding up?
I have a commuter and I am pleased with it. Have used it on both the Note 2 and 3 and never had any brekage happening.
BUT, don't get me started on their customer service. I have ordered another case and mistakenly got the wrong part (shell instead of a slop cover). I am international customer so I didn't phone them. Stuid me for trying to avoid phone call costs and having to deal with language barrier.
I messaged them 3 times to please please change my order. Price of the item was the same so I didn't think it would be a problem. Noone even replied to me, except with a stupid email that I must provide a photo for the case I am returning. Well duh, I don't have the item yet!!! They have this stupid way to contact them via forms that no matter what you write in them they interpret as you claiming warranty or return. They don't read what you write. I also tried bastic customer service email. Nada, zero, niente, nothing, no reply.
The next thing I know they informed me my items have been shipped and tracking says they are well on the way.
I have been using that case for a few days now and it has a good feel to it. It is not slippery at all. I am still debating on whether to keep using it because I have always used my other phones without a case. The bulk is not that much but it does make a difference compared to no case. Using the phone with the case does make holding it easier and I don't have that anxiety of dropping it as much as I had when using the phone with no case. I would definitely recommend this case. Also, I just got the Samsung universal vehicle navigation mount last night and the phone fits in the mount with the case. However, with the case the phone just barely fits. I am going to try it out today in the car.
I got my Commuter in the mail yesterday. It fits great and seems very protective. I had a Spigen Slim Armor on mine since I got it and the Otterbox is much higher quality.
Sent from my Note 4
Picked up the Defender Series. The case is very protective and willing to bet its probable the best case available to offer protection from drops or scratches.
The only draw back I would saw is the added bulk. This phone now looks like a brick in my hands and definitely people mistake it for a tablet. I guess that's the trade off you get when going for full protection. Other than that, great case hands down!

Recommended Leather Holsters?

Anyone find or know of a good leather belt pouch/holster for a bare or minimally cased 6P? Know there are boatloads out there, just can't seem to get the internal dimensions on them. And quite a few seem to be made for something in a big (otterbox defender) case.
After a bit of reading, I discovered our 6p is exactly the same dimensions as the iPhone 6s plus. Just shy of 1mm which is really a non issue. So it kinda opens up a whole world of possibilities. Hope this helps!
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/si...exus-6P,Apple-iPhone-6s-Plus/phones/9587,9502
Personally, im deciding between the nite ize double wide or extra tall. Ive owned a few of these nite ize cases before. They are the highest quality ive found. Ballistic nylon, and a belt clip that actually locks around the belt, rather than held by friction. Almost impossible to take off the belt by mistake, ive actually snagged on door frames before and come to a halt because of how well built these belt clasps are. Its a TPU " O " shaped belt loop, with a notch cut in it. You have to squeeze it to get it on and off. Id go so far as to say its almost child proof removal wise. I have never lost or dropped the phone in these cases getting in and out of fire trucks or aircraft. the most serious S**t ive been able to find to date. Not like the friction based belt clips you'll see in the posts below mine. Personally, i dont think its very cool to drop my phone off my belt when getting up out of a vehicle. So i really dont mess around when i pick a holster. Try to find one better , and ill buy it. But i bet you cant.

Thanks, that helps alot. Hadn't thought of going that route at the problem. Hadn't considered the dearth of accessories as a downside to the 6P. Had a bare phone snap in holster and an Otterbox Defender for my Note 4.

No, I really need the belt clip part. If I had my druthers I would have a bare phone holster and then an Otterbox or Pelican which both come with belt clip holsters. The only time my phone is not on my belt while I'm out is when it might be in the cargo pocket of a pair of pants/shorts. I have this in my Nexus 6P Accessories wish list on Amazon.
Story Leather Black Napa Genuine Leather Holster with Belt Clip for Apple iPhone 6 PLUS
I highly recommend these http://www.pdair.com/ I have at least 10 of them. They are expensive but are a premium product. Most new devices take a while to show up but what I do is use this site http://www.phonearena.com/phones/si...exus-6P,Apple-iPhone-6s-Plus/phones/9587,9502 and view layered then select http://www.pdair.com/index.php/leather-case-for-apple-iphone-6-plus-5-5-horizontal-pouch-type.html.
If I want a bumper on the phone Ill order a slightly bigger case or the iphone 6s plus one that is for the bumper. I usually get one slightly bigger.
If your just after a cheap one.

Any holster that fits the SUPCASE frosted case?

Which is the best Google sold case? Are they worth it?

I hear all these talks about cases blocking mics and the autofocus laser. My Project Fi Nexus 6p just shipped today and I'm wondering if it's worth getting a case through google with the Fi 50% discount code.
The microfiber case looks the most unique but there were initial concerns of it coming off the back (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/accessories/google-6p-carbon-quartz-case-t3213838). The Adopted case is the cheapest but doesn't look like much. What have you done?
I got the adapted and I like it a lot, however, I should have gotten the carbon. I got the frosted case thinking that it would be more see through on a graphite phone. It just doesn't look right. It is a bit slick, however, it fits the phone nicely and feels nice as well.
I got the $35 (carbon/quartz) case.
Look: so so, doesn't look as good as in the pictures
Protection: great, is pretty thick TPU
Feel: make the phone feel bigger
$35 no worth it, with your 50% off, yes it worth it.
One of the reason I got this case is it has the "NEXUS" logo instead some other case brand logo, but if the case is damaged I would not get another one. I would get a clear case.
Just as a note, I think the code only applies to the ADAPTED case.

Does anyone have a 50% code that they havent used or clicked on the link from the email? Would greatly appreciate it if you can share!
I'm returning the carbon Adopted microfibre case for my N6P. The fit was really snug and the ports/hole cutouts were all fine, but I couldn't justify spending nearly $40 CAD for essentially a TPU case with what amounts to a paper-thin microfibre sticker on the rear. Aside from future peeling concerns, I think the pattern and logo would also start peeling off after hundreds of time rubbing the inside of my jean pocket. Then the case wouldn't become anything special.
I'd rather spend 1/3 of the price on a Diztronic TPU case and customize it myself with a DBrand or Slickwrap skin (e.g. with the rainbow "X" logo).
Another option I'm considering is the Crash Guard by Evolutive Labs paired with a Slickwrap Natural Leather skin on the back.
Does anybody have a black version of this case (https://store.google.com/product/adopted_case_n6p) that they would be willing to sell? I am willing to pay over MSRP.
Beware of the Folio case. Mine is currently stuck on the phone. I'm not alone either it would appear (from the google product support forums). It looks likely that I'm going to have to return the phone for another.
There's either a batch issue or a design issue.
I have the Nexus official case in Carbon and it's great. Love the way it looks love the feel especially the felt back and it is very protective. Totally worth it. The adopted case is nice but I feel it's not as protective
You can count me as one of the 'Loving it!!'-camp. This case is exactly what it's portrayed as: the most intrinsically designed case for the 6P... The rest, as much as they try to be the same, they're still aftermarket products. Yes, I agree 35 dlls is not acceptable, but that's another issue apart from how good this case goes.
I'm another fan of the official case. I also have the Adopted, but the official case is the one on my phone right now and probably will stay that way.
