I hear all these talks about cases blocking mics and the autofocus laser. My Project Fi Nexus 6p just shipped today and I'm wondering if it's worth getting a case through google with the Fi 50% discount code.
The microfiber case looks the most unique but there were initial concerns of it coming off the back (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/accessories/google-6p-carbon-quartz-case-t3213838). The Adopted case is the cheapest but doesn't look like much. What have you done?
I got the adapted and I like it a lot, however, I should have gotten the carbon. I got the frosted case thinking that it would be more see through on a graphite phone. It just doesn't look right. It is a bit slick, however, it fits the phone nicely and feels nice as well.
I got the $35 (carbon/quartz) case.
Look: so so, doesn't look as good as in the pictures
Protection: great, is pretty thick TPU
Feel: make the phone feel bigger
$35 no worth it, with your 50% off, yes it worth it.
One of the reason I got this case is it has the "NEXUS" logo instead some other case brand logo, but if the case is damaged I would not get another one. I would get a clear case.
Just as a note, I think the code only applies to the ADAPTED case.

Does anyone have a 50% code that they havent used or clicked on the link from the email? Would greatly appreciate it if you can share!
I'm returning the carbon Adopted microfibre case for my N6P. The fit was really snug and the ports/hole cutouts were all fine, but I couldn't justify spending nearly $40 CAD for essentially a TPU case with what amounts to a paper-thin microfibre sticker on the rear. Aside from future peeling concerns, I think the pattern and logo would also start peeling off after hundreds of time rubbing the inside of my jean pocket. Then the case wouldn't become anything special.
I'd rather spend 1/3 of the price on a Diztronic TPU case and customize it myself with a DBrand or Slickwrap skin (e.g. with the rainbow "X" logo).
Another option I'm considering is the Crash Guard by Evolutive Labs paired with a Slickwrap Natural Leather skin on the back.
Does anybody have a black version of this case (https://store.google.com/product/adopted_case_n6p) that they would be willing to sell? I am willing to pay over MSRP.
Beware of the Folio case. Mine is currently stuck on the phone. I'm not alone either it would appear (from the google product support forums). It looks likely that I'm going to have to return the phone for another.
There's either a batch issue or a design issue.
I have the Nexus official case in Carbon and it's great. Love the way it looks love the feel especially the felt back and it is very protective. Totally worth it. The adopted case is nice but I feel it's not as protective
You can count me as one of the 'Loving it!!'-camp. This case is exactly what it's portrayed as: the most intrinsically designed case for the 6P... The rest, as much as they try to be the same, they're still aftermarket products. Yes, I agree 35 dlls is not acceptable, but that's another issue apart from how good this case goes.
I'm another fan of the official case. I also have the Adopted, but the official case is the one on my phone right now and probably will stay that way.

Although I don't have a Nexus 4 yet (waiting for them to go back in stock) I'm still looking at accessories from time to time. Well, Mercury finally has a case for the awesome Nexus 4!! I have one for my G2x, and it's been great to me, so I would definitely get one for an N4.
They have a lot of colors to choose from, and oddly enough, I sort of want the mint or sky blue. I'll definitely be purchasing one when I get my Nexus.

They also have a wallet case. What's nice is they use a TPU case instead of hard plastic to protect the phone.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-GOOGLE-N...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item1c2f4a2eab
They're all from South Korea, which I think is nice cause they make lots of nice stuff over there. Hopefully some of you out there are looking for cases like these!
They look alright. Just be careful because when thieves steal that. They steal both your wallet and phone :/
I ordered a mercury wallet case with a built in TPU case from the same ebay seller. It was only 10 bucks though. Will post my thoughts when it arrives.
I made the mistake of getting the mint green for my Gnex, looks great but in person its very feminine looking...
This looks promising. I like the Diztronic TPU case but I would prefer something even a little more minimal. If someone buys this TPU case, please post pictures. :highfive:
Ringke released a wallet case which uses real leather (at twice the cost):

Wondering how well it stays closed though; no strap like the one from ebay.

from my experience (had a wallet case from poetic similar to the ebay one), the magnetic clasp doesnt even hold the case closed once you put 2-3 credit cards in the wallet so its pointless and gets in the way
I have the Black Vegan wallet case sold on Amazon for $6. Had it for a month and no longer carry a wallet or kickstand! Its very protective and has a snap to ensure it stays closed.
Realize this thread is a little old but I just received mine today and am pleasantly surprised. I have tried a couple of flip cases for my Nexus 4 (Poetic, PDair) and have been disappointed. This one is nicely made, feels good, and has a nice magnetic clasp. I especially like the fact that, if you choose to put credit cards in it, the edges of the embedded TPU case prevent the cover from coming in contact with the screen.
It only failed one requirement I had for such a case... and that is easy removal. Since the back of the TPU case is covered with the hard wallet material, it makes it a bit tougher to get the Nexus out. But considering I have yet to be pleased with any of the other flip cases this is now no longer one of my requirements. A steal for under 10 bucks!

But then again, I don't want to spend to much. I want a stylish case. any recommendation?
neo hybrid is probably one of the more stylish cases (though costs $30)

It is like you buy insurance, if you know when you will drop it, there is nothing to talk about, but $20-30 to protect your $600-700 investment I think really is worth it.
Check out the Poetic Atmosphere case, here's my review on it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280103
It's a nice looking case and it's cheap too.
Sent from Flip's S4
I've been through two feature phones and three smart phones and I never used a case until this one. For previous phones I would at most put a skin on them. I dropped my last two phones (Palm Pre and Nexus S) from ~2 feet a few times and each time it landed on a corner. No major damage, just scuff marks. The reports across the web are that the S4 doesn't hold up too well in comparison to other phones when dropped. The screen runs right to the corner which makes me worry. That plus the phone being so much larger (and harder to hold on to) made me decide to go for a case. I went with the Spigen Neo Hybrid, and I think it's great. Doesn't add much thickness, looks great and should protect the phone.
If you're looking for something stylish, I'd recommend either Verus Oneye - http://www.zoarah.com/by-brand/verus/#ty%3Bpagination_contents%3B%2Fby-brand%2Fverus%2Fpage-2%2F
Or
Spigen Slim Armor - http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s4-case-slim-armor.html
Or If you dont mind a big case(with better protection), a Trident Aegis - http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-products/samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505/aegis-case-samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505.aspx
Today I went shopping for alternatives while waiting for the Spigen Neo Hybrid I ordered from across the atlantic, and stumbled across Samsungs own Protective Cover +. I had no idea what I was buying, but thought it could be worth the 20 bucks. Turns out it's actually a pretty solid case, with a sturdy polycarbonate back and what looks like TPU all around the sides. It even has holes on one of the corners to fit wrist straps and such.
I'm not a big fan of the grey TPU for the white version, but other than that I'm really impressed. Despite its name it's probably no more protective than a basic TPU shell though, in particular because it doesn't add more than a millimeter height to the edge of the screen.

Maybe a slim back cover is your like, covers are form-fitting snap-on covers that protect your cell phone without adding a lot of bulk, have openings for camera, volume/ side buttons, headset, charger jack and kickstand which allows access to all phone functions.
Nope, they aren't worth it when there is need for cheap Black Market spare parts.
Not a case man either but this case made me keep the S4. lol As far as being worth it ummm yea it's a 500 + phone. Only takes one drunk night. hehe
I just got my Otterbox Commuter in the mail today and I am very impressed. I've used the Defender series on nearly every phone I've purchased, but since the Note 4 is already so large I decided to try a thinner case. Installation was simple, except I had a little trouble getting the rubber inside the headphone jack. It honestly makes the phone easier to hold and use as your fingers/thumbs are constantly overlapping onto the screen. The Commuter series has a hard plastic shell as its outer side, so the phone easily slides in and out of jean pockets. I've attached some images, but please note they were taken from my Galaxy S3 with a broken screen, so they were a little hard to take. I'll update this thread after a week with further thoughts about it's use and protection.

How slick is the grip? I just got my Defender yesterday and it adds a good 1/2" to the width it seems. I had tried the Spigen ones but they are pretty slick and don't seem to offer much protection.
Will get mine tomorrow. Quite curious how much the device will grow in size

So, how has the commuter been holding up?
I have a commuter and I am pleased with it. Have used it on both the Note 2 and 3 and never had any brekage happening.
BUT, don't get me started on their customer service. I have ordered another case and mistakenly got the wrong part (shell instead of a slop cover). I am international customer so I didn't phone them. Stuid me for trying to avoid phone call costs and having to deal with language barrier.
I messaged them 3 times to please please change my order. Price of the item was the same so I didn't think it would be a problem. Noone even replied to me, except with a stupid email that I must provide a photo for the case I am returning. Well duh, I don't have the item yet!!! They have this stupid way to contact them via forms that no matter what you write in them they interpret as you claiming warranty or return. They don't read what you write. I also tried bastic customer service email. Nada, zero, niente, nothing, no reply.
The next thing I know they informed me my items have been shipped and tracking says they are well on the way.
I have been using that case for a few days now and it has a good feel to it. It is not slippery at all. I am still debating on whether to keep using it because I have always used my other phones without a case. The bulk is not that much but it does make a difference compared to no case. Using the phone with the case does make holding it easier and I don't have that anxiety of dropping it as much as I had when using the phone with no case. I would definitely recommend this case. Also, I just got the Samsung universal vehicle navigation mount last night and the phone fits in the mount with the case. However, with the case the phone just barely fits. I am going to try it out today in the car.
I got my Commuter in the mail yesterday. It fits great and seems very protective. I had a Spigen Slim Armor on mine since I got it and the Otterbox is much higher quality.
Sent from my Note 4
Picked up the Defender Series. The case is very protective and willing to bet its probable the best case available to offer protection from drops or scratches.
The only draw back I would saw is the added bulk. This phone now looks like a brick in my hands and definitely people mistake it for a tablet. I guess that's the trade off you get when going for full protection. Other than that, great case hands down!
Did anyone test this case, it looks nice. Just like spigen cases.

It looks like a spitting image of a Spigen case. It does look nice just wonder how much bulk it adds, I know I sound like a broken record but I do not like cases that add too much bulk.

yea i agree with this i had a spigen neohybrid for nexus 5 made it thick. and since its not rounded like the case in the back you lose the functionality of the rounded back where you can tip the phone one way or another for the display when its on its back. but i like it too.

I also picked one up on amazon yesterday. Will post some pics once it arrives.
Got the case
I got the case in blue. The price is right for sure. I actually love the case because it makes it angled and square. The buttons on the side feel awesome to click now too. The cons are that after two days of having it in my pocket the outside blue plastic corners are picking up the black from my pockets. That's the only issue really, my headphones and charger fit perfectly on it and it feels snug, there is a slight bend in the rubber at the top but NBD. Also, the plastic outside is mat, not shiny though the pictures would have you believe otherwise. Let me know if anyone else wants detail or pics.
how thick does it make the phone?
anyone try the BRILA cases also?
I am getting my replacement today... I will post some pix
eh, mine comes tomorrow lol impatient
size
About 1.5cm, still fits in my pocket, all good. Gonna pick up a darker colour one today because the blue edges are turning dark.

Anyone with a 6p try it with the adopted case bought from the Google store?
If so how is it?
Sent from my Nexus 5
I've got the case but the 6p comes in tomorrow.
The case is decent quality but very ordinary looking. The biggest issue which is a deal breaker for me is the fact that it's very difficult to take screenshots due to a design flaw in these cases. The ridges on the inside of the case don't line up perfectly with the buttons. Try it yourself and you'll see what i'm talking about.
My phone is on route

Also this case causes issues if you use a tempered glass screen protector and causes it to either lift up or issues with the edges of the case going over the glass.
Frosty!

As others have said, the case is decent but not without issues. It is a plain TPU case with nothing particularly special going for it. It is probably a little overpriced for what you get; Diztronic and others will be releasing similar cases for cheaper if you can wait.
It does cause issues taking screenshots, though they are not insurmountable; you need to be careful how you press buttons through it to do so. As someone else said, it is incompatible with some of the current screen protectors. I tried the intelliARMOR, but they are a no go together. IntelliARMOR is working on a revised version of their protector.
Overall, I like the case. It is of good quality and it looks good, if plain. The black one looks good on my aluminium phone with the silver fingerprint sensor giving it some flair while not looking out of place.
I prefer the microfiber backed case though. It is essentially the same case with the same problems, especially the overpriced part, but with a different look, feel, and better grip.

Sure! Give it a few weeks for the phone to get here...
Here you go.
The case is ok. Not bad, but not great. The cutouts could be a lot better and on the front, the case covers too much of the edges imo. Kinda hard to swipe from the edges if you use that functionality a lot in apps. I should've probably waited for something else but this one looked pretty slick on the google store. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I really like the Adopted case, it fits nicely and snuggly without adding too much bulk. It does look a bit plain and of course like any other case it hides a lot of the beauty of the device...yes...including the visor which it has grown on me over the days.

I've had some issues with 3rd party USB C cables. The cutout on the case for the USB isn't large enough. I'm thinking about enlarging it but haven't decided just yet what to use.

I thought about using a soldering iron. I'm not sure how he did it though without deforming the cutout. An iron doesn't generally remove material it just sort of melts it away and pushes it back.
Also, this is such a thin device that if you remove much you risk separating the cover completely at the charge port. I'm not convinced you can remove enough for many 3rd party cables. It almost requires a different case design.
Does anybody have a 50% code off for adopted case they dont need? Would greatly appreciate it.
