Just wanted to give some insight on the blu quattro 5.7 HD. I got mine yesterday and for the price it is amazing. Great screen, camera is decent, battery is very good. Build is very solid. Comes with Android 4.04 which was all stock. In the box was the cell, data cable/charger, battery, headset, back cover and a flip cover and a screen protector.
Now the crappy part is that there's no accs to buy. No cases or extra batteries.
I've switched from the og note and while I love my note, this cell boats a quad core nvidia 1.5gh and 1gig of ram. Got around 4100 on quadrant which is decent . Rooting was simple and easy. I just wish there was some development for this device (I thought about doing some my self but would rather have a cell than a brick)
All in all for under $300 USD your getting a 5.7 720 HD screen, quad core 1.5gh processor, unlocked pentaband cell. Good job BLU

Just a quick note, when running quadrent I had the CPU set to balance. Re-ran with performance settings and got around 4600.

It is a chinese version but works fine.... It's 2.4.0.0, you just need to know what buttons you are pushing because you can not read the Writing. No Biggie.
I will upload the recovery .rar. file for you here. It's about 8mb
if it asks for a password to unzip the .rar file, this is it verbatim www.592zn.com
Volume + and power until you see a green screen, then immediately release both buttons, at this point you will be on a blank screen in download mode, the blank screen is what you want, now plug the usb from the phone into the computer. Then locate a file named recovery.bat. Double click on that file and a command prompt with a bunch of Chinese pops up. Give it a second and press enter, it will go through the process and flash a recovery onto your phone. Reboot the phone.
To get it into recovery, with the phone off, Volume + and power until you see the black screen, then immediately release the power button only, holding the volume + until you see TWRP.
Hope this helps.
Now we need a Custom ROM for this bad boy of a phone. Lol....

For the price this cell is a freakin beast. Gonna keep this as my daily driver for a while for sure. On a side note, the quattro 4,5 is a great little phone too.

Needs a tweak for the radio modem. The speeds are very slow, but maybe that's all we get with this phone?
Its not LTE keep in mind. I ran a speed test and got better results than I did with my note and hd2.

I loved my 5.7HD... but not enough to not sell it lol! --- I have pretty much committed myself to BLU, as I now have a Studio 5.3 S, and I must say it is the sleekest phone they have made. It says adios to the industrial style design and falls into a cross between a Note II and a One X. The screen is just a tad smaller, but it is substantially lighter and thinner than the 5.7. I did prefer the Tegra3 over the Qualcomm chipset that is in the S lineup, but it does the trick, still easily breaking 10K with Antutu benchmark, and with developement from the right people, it could push 14-15K.

No 1700 and 2100 though ??!!??
No, I get H and H+ all over town. Sometimes it will dip down to EDGE or 3G but mostly H. So yes, I would assume it has those bands.
Yes it has 1700/2100 as I am with wind Mobile and its an was network.

1) It's awesome you still have an HD2, those are the greatest, most versatile phone I've ever used. And I got a Nokia N900 for $25.... I loved it, but the HD2 stole a permanent place in my heart lol.
2) I have switched from the Quattro 5.7HD to the less industrial, but quite sexy Studio 5.3S. It has the S4 Snapdragon @1.2Ghz and while it's no Exynos or Tegra3, it's got its perks. KILLER Battery life, I left it idle the other day, off charge while i was sick and sleeping, it dropped 7% in 13 hours. Then I noticed I was even chilling at 1209Mhz!!! I forgot to downclock the Minimum cpu speed after a few 10/11K Antutu Benches, and a couple 4.2-4.8k Quadrants.
All in all, I'm throwing BLU into the ring as a serious contender for developers. The only problem, all of the source codes come from K-Touch in china.Get them and we will be GOLDEN. Without them, we have no rom developement.
P.S.. BLU will not update the Quattros to JellyBean. K-Touch released a statement saying they had no plans to release an update, therefore I don't believe BLU can or will either.

I'm on Sprint but I work at a Verizon retail store. I've used all the phones. The Droid X2 is not much of any upgrade from the Droid X. It's basically a Droid X without a camera button, and with a dual core CPU. Not really worth it, especially since it has an encrypted bootloader. I really like the Thunderbolt (I have an Evo), but if you're going to play a lot of games, get the Droid Charge. It has the same (or slightly better) CPU that's in the Epic, and the Thunderbolt doesn't quite compare in terms of speed. There's also the LG Revolution, which is Bing'd out, but is still a great phone. Personally, if you're going to be gaming, I say go for the Droid Charge.
i saw that the droid x2 has a duel core and well my epic has the same cpu as the charge is there a BIG speed difference in these phones? even after root and everything clean from crapware?
i saw the charge is 299$ where the droid x2 is 199$ is it rly worth the 100$ to get a single core cpu? i know the screen is bad ass on the charge but i heard the x2 is pretty darn good
Don't forget that there is more to the phone than fancy hardware. Droid X2 might be nice, but it still runs moto blur, a UI that often is rated as one of the worst ones of Android. I personally remember playing around with the original Droid X at the VZW store months back and the model on display was lagging from menu to menu.
Software > Hardware, at least in most cases.

I won't lie, the latest version of Motoblur on the Droid X / Droid X2 is not bad at all (though a little laggy on the home screen). But the thing has an encrypted bootloader, which means you can't flash custom kernels, which means your ROM selection will be very limited. Also, the Gingerbread update also introduced something retarded: If you root and try to tether without a tethering plan, you will be redirected to a Verizon page to buy the plan every time you try to load a website.
I haven't used the Droid Charge enough to see differences from the Epic other than they use an orange/brown theme instead of blue on the Epic. Also, the Charge has 4G, so you'll be future-proof. On the other hand, the Droid X2 is dual-core so you'll be future-proofed in terms of performance (Android 2.3 and under don't make use of both cores). I'm really not sure how well it compares, or rather WILL compare against the GPU of the Charge, which is hard to beat.
In terms of price, I think the Droid X2 is priced pretty fairly. The Charge on the other hand is a $100 more and, besides HDMI output and 4G LTE, doesn't really add much to your Epic. In the end it's really up to you. You always have 30 days to change the phone. Drop into a Verizon store and try them out. But keep in mind that Quadrant Standard isn't optimized for dual cores and Neocore is optimized for Qualcomm (ie Snapdragon) chipsets.
i did forget to add a phone.... the sony xperia play i do play a ALOT of ps1 emualtor on my epic.... how is the xperia play? i mean i forgot it was even out lol im use to the 4inch screen but if its bad ass for games and then that maybe be the phone to get

I've played with the Xperia play. The good thing about it is that it's mainly stock Android (no skin, but it does have extra Sony Widgets and some crapware). It comes with Crash Bandicoot (the PS1 version) and some Bruce Lee game, among other games. It played pretty smooth, but it only has a 1GHz Snapdragon, so nothing too impressive. If you want a video with a good benchmark, watch this one. It even compares it to other phones (ps the Optimus 2X has a Tegra 2):

If you can hold off, the Galaxy S II, which is the most powerful Android phone out right now, will be coming to Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T anywhere from July to August. It's all unofficial as of now, but they're definitely coming because they've been named (AT&T Attain, Sprint Within, Verizon Function).

Quadrant Standard and Neocore are benchmarking apps used to show the CPU and GPU capablities of a phone. The issue is that neither will give you an accurate result of the raw power of a phone.
Avoid Moto ATM
I used to be a staunch supporter of Motorola phones, but in the last couple years, especially with Android OS, they've been very lackluster to me. I support the phones in our office, and we've got several versions of Motos here that give us all sorts of issues. Its amazing what features that Moto manages to turn off natively that all other phones seem to have, plus they go out of their way to make it difficult to update to custom ROMs, etc.
I would definitely go with the TBolt, I've had mine for a couple months now and came from a N1 i was using with iWireless and love the TBolt, Rooted and running Gingerbread, everything works great

I have a Tbolt & I love it. Mainly because (1) it has 4G and (2) the *very* active dev community here. You may not be concerned with 4G now, but it may come to your area before you are allowed to upgrade phones, so that may be worth considering. Also, some of the TB kernels allow overclocking up to 1.92ghz. The DX2 will proly still give better emulator performance, but I'd bet an overclocked Tbolt would emulate better than a stock Droid Charge (an o/c'd Charge would be a different story. Idk if you can even o/c a Charge, I don't follow the Charge threads). The last time I checked the Charge rom dev section, it was pretty sparse. That will change as more devs get their hands on it, but for the moment you can't get flash happy with a Charge. The Charge's amoled screen is freaking gorgeous. There is nothing else like a Samsung amoled. Colors are really vivid & bright and black is *black*, not dark grey like on a lcd. The Charge's battery life is better than the Tbolt too. I don't know much about the DX2 but I do know that if you like playing with custom roms & kernels, the DX2's bootloader will be very frustrating. I have never messed with Moto Blur but the majority of comments I've read about it are not positive. Ultimately it's a matter of tradeoffs & what is most important to you. If you want the best emulator performance & don't mind giving up custom roms, go for DX2. If you want an awesome screen & can wait a few weeks for rom development to pan out, get the Charge. If you've gotta have custom roms/kernels *right now* & don't mind lackluster battery life, check out the Tbolt.

Thunderbolt now or wait for Galaxy S II or Evo 3D?
Will the Bolt be outdated soon with dual processors out now? I'm in no real hurry and can wait a few months so I'm thinking of waiting for Galaxy S II since I've read it is going to be open source now.
In Los Angeles will it matter whether I'm on Sprint or Verizon as far as 4G performance goes? The speed tests I've found are outdated and one listed Verizon as the very worst performing network but they tested in Columbus, OH and people posted that it wasn't an accurate test because of that.
I would go with the thunderbolt, and i just did a few days ago actually. It has the most dev support on here and I hate moto with a passion so the choice was easy for me.

with it's gorgeous screen and perfect size. I had originally planned just to try this phone out while waiting for the Evo3D to drop. I bought an Evo3D to use side by side for a few days, and I ended up returning the Evo. The 4.3" screen just seems too small after using the 4.5, and the screen just cannot in any way compare.

I completely agree. My last phone had a camera button on it (the button also acted as a shortcut to start the camera as well), and it was hard to get used to not having a camera button with this phone.
However, everything else about the Infuse just about makes up for it .
Well one the revolutionary new features of iOS 5 that Steve Jobs single handedly came up with is using the volume buttons as a physical camera button. I'm sure we could figure out a way to do that, and we can already pinch zoom on the screen as an alternative zoom.

On the i9000/Captivate forums you've been able to use the power button (the volume keys are already mapped to zooming).
I see no reason a similar mod would not work for Infuse.

interesting you like the infuse better, while I agree I didbuse an evo3d and it is much better than I thouht. I love the lock screen, I love the home screen flick scrolling. but it is htc and I hate sense. thouh htc did replace the notification bar with one that has two pages (similar to miui) and some shortcuts. I also did some benchmarks and was both impressed with the open gl and not impressed overall. the qhd resolution will slow the frame rates but it seems the graphics chip has up to 60% more power than ours and it can still get 10-20% better frame rates than our gpu. so the qhd screen doesn't effect the apparent smoothness like it might on the atrix.
now I would never own the phone as it is nand locked (supposedly encrypted this time) and I'm not sure if it will do anything significantly better than anything else. it kills in linpack but that is only a measure of its fpu, just one part of the cpu. I'm not sure how reliable mflops is as a measurement on any modern cpu. you would need to know how much the cpu actually runs floating point in normal operating conditions.
the curious thing is with both these advantages the evo3d gets a mere 1900-2200 in quadrant. that is good out of the box but the atrix does better and the sgs2 kills them both. there is clearly a deficiency or problem somewhere, it may be better to try antutu as a comparison between the dual core chipsets.
this all does make me wonder about any phones not on htc that will have this chip. and also how the chip in the thrill which has our gpu on a dual core will compare. the market is actually getting pretty interesting right now.
I love the 4.5 screen, now if only we can get the screen to go edge to edge on the the galaxy s3 ,and keeping it the same size as the infuse...any bigger is a pain in the pocket!
My wife has the HTC inspire which I can't stand that phone sense makes no sense just like motoblur I've had my captivate since last year and it is truly the best phone since. Samsung finally did something right. I tested the infuse seeing how fast it was I just might make the switch its basically the same phone but the 1.2 ghz will make a big difference. I think Samsung is going to blow everyone out of the water this year.

That however will be a SuperLCD screen and not a self-illuminating Super AMOLED Plus type.
The only screen that will sway Infuse addicts will be one of the upcoming Super AMOLED HD screens for the SG III that will do the qHD resolution. Til then, we stay

so i have some questions...answer what ever questions you want, i have a basic feel from looking at specs but i want actual user refrences:
1) How smooth does the phone run?
2) how is the devolpment scene?
4) how many custom roms are there-not ports?
5) how do you like lte?
6) whats your favorite part of the phone-what do you hate the most?
7) hows battery life?
8) how much do you think the price will drop once the skyrocket hd is released?
9) would the hd be able to run the same roms with out porting? I know we wont really know until its released but just curious
10) would you recommend this phone to a friend? lol had to ask it
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to answer my questions

1) How smooth does the phone run? Very smooth, even on stock, but you make it crappy if you have too much going on. As with anything.
2) how is the devolpment scene? It's good considering the new chipset.
4) how many custom roms are there-not ports? Enough to feed addiction, if that's why you're asking.
5) how do you like lte? Don't have LTE in my area so can't say.
6) whats your favorite part of the phone-what do you hate the most? Best part is the screen size, worst part is the screen resolution (alternative is to increase the resolution using DPI apps.)
7) hows battery life? This isn't exactly an objective question, but I've seen ranges from 6 hours - 24 hrs.
8) how much do you think the price will drop once the skyrocket hd is released? Generally the price drops about $50 from contract price. More if it's a promotion.
9) would the hd be able to run the same roms with out porting? I know we wont really know until its released but just curious. You're right so can't say.
10) would you recommend this phone to a friend? If my friend had an infuse, no I wouldn't recommend it because of the new exynos chips that will be coming soon and the S4 chips that are coming. If my friend was impatient and rich enough then yes, I would. If my friend had a large enough hand then I would suggest trying the note first then getting the skyrocket.
Good luck with your decision.

4) how many custom roms are there-not ports?
Too many. I make nandroid back-ups everyday just to try them all out as they're released.
5) how do you like lte?
I live in Michigan and it's neck and neck, sometimes faster than my home cable connection.
6) whats your favorite part of the phone-what do you hate the most?
It hate the lack of stock camera features like zoom, but this can be fixed with roms lol
7) hows battery life?
Sucks on stock rom better keep it on the charger! However, last an entire day with NexusM0D v2.0 installed.
8) how much do you think the price will drop once the skyrocket hd is released?
Never heard of Skyrocket HD, but knowing AT&T it will probably become free with a two-year contract.
9) would the hd be able to run the same roms with out porting? I know we wont really know until its released but just curious
*scratches head*
10) would you recommend this phone to a friend? lol had to ask it
Yep... this or the Droid Razr Maxx (on the more expensive Verizon)

You can zoom in/out with the camera the same way you zoom in/out on a webpage; pull apart the screen zooms in, pinch the screen zooms out. Unless I'm completely mistaken.
This phone is awesome! Definitely the nicest and fastest phone I've ever had.

Will the new Exynos chips support LTE? I am thinking about getting the Skyrocket, but one of the things that I was told was that the SR isn't as good as the other SGS2 due to the chips (Exynos being way better than the Qualcomm chips). And how soon? wondering if I should just wait to get that phone or not (Plan on buying a phone within the next 6 months)

The skyrocket hd is pretty much the exact same phone as the skyrocket except it has a 720p screen giveing it the hd part of the name...at least from what i can tell

And I love the phone.. LTE is kick ass where it's available!!
Personally, I think the screen is great. Looking forward to either Dev rom that's asop, or official ICS.

1) Very smooth. This is probably the smoothest Android phone I know of next to the Galaxy Nexus.
2) You can go to the development forum and see what's available yourself. In my opinion, it's not so good, but the Skyrocket is still fairly young.
4) N/A
5) It's fine. I don't do anything that really requires that high of a speed, though.
6) My favorite part is its smooth performance. Worst is I hate how I'm constantly losing my place in my browser/apps because they're killed too quick. That's more an Android issue than Skyrocket, though.
7) I'm a superheavy user -- my battery life on the Skyrocket is 5-6 hours. For comparison, I also got roughly 5-6 hours on the Samsung Captivate, 6-7 hours on the old WinMo smartphones, 11-13 hours with the iPhone, and 13+ hours with Nokia Symbian phones.
8) Probably $100-$150
9) N/A
10) Assuming that friend is comfortable with Android, then yes.

My infuse is just about to disintegrate in my hand, it's served its purpose... for a year. I'd love to buy an HTC One X+ with 64GB. I don't know, will anything significant be out by late January next year? I'm thinking about going HTC because I abuse the hell out of my phones and unibody is probably much more durable than Samsung's numerous removable parts/panels. NOT that Samsung is bad.
Another option would be the Note II. The only reason I really want it is the quad core though. I don't feel like only upgrading to a dual core phone when quads are becoming so popular now.
Ideas, thoughts?
I myself am thinking abut switching over to Verizon. I will most likely get the new HTC DNA around December. Could you list more of what you want in a phone? Things like how much processing power do you need, is a large screen a must, are you an avid music listener, and questions of the such. Also, I agree with you on the unibody thing. The infuse back plate does feel flimsy.

HTC is great for a stock experience and a nice sturdy feeling phone...but if you wanna be flashing ROMs a lot....I'd stick with Samsung
Here is the typical process for rooting an HTC:
1) unlock bootloader
2) fastboot flash a recovery...similar to heimdall/Odin except its done from the terminal or cmd prompt on a computer...no nice easy one click GUI
3) flash a root zip in recovery
***optional but pretty much necessary***
4) s-off the device may require you to unscrew the back part of the phone and use a wire to purposely "short" the phone while a software is running that way it can turn off security while the phone is essentially restarting everything....
Why s-off? If you want to flash a kernel through recovery you need to be s-off. If you want to flash a ROM without a computer you need to be s-off, you can flash the ROM but the kernel inside won't be flashed causing a boot loop until you fast boot flash the kernel...and lastly if you wanna flash a new radio/modem you need to be s-off...so it isn't 100% necessary, but if you're a flashaholic...its a pain if your not s-off
Anyways that's what I hate about htcs...but then again you only need to do the above once...
However I love sense...it has an amazing stock experience....feels nice and smooth with cool animations/transitions. Also I believe the HTC one x+ is also a quad core phone...so if that's the only reason you want the note 2, the x+ should also have a quad core with the classic HTC design quality
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
sense is cool as far as some animations but it somehow complicates (or did) the settings menus without adding anything I can think of to android. people love it so what do I know. but sense also have a process limit. things don't stay cached and you need to decompile services.jar (I think) and make some changes to get better multitasking. I think its a stupid decision by htc. the kind of thing apple would do deciding you are too stupid to manage what's running so the manage it for you.
the fast boot thing can get a GUI if someone with java experience (for multi platform compatibility) writes something that basically prints the commands into a prompt and sets some path variables. but command line is really more efficient if you have any typing skills at all. for example explaining heimdal is easier to with command line than the GUI because things in the GUI depend on other things and the explanation of things depends on a good description of where tabs and buttons are and what they say. in command line I can just quote what to type verbatim. its not as easy to teach yourself (but not too bad if you know about man pages) but easier to instruct.
I'm personally waiting for more news on the Sony yuga. Rumored to be a 5" screen quad core running jelly bean. Should know more in January. I was running an xperia rom on my hd2 for awhile and really liked the stock look. I've heard media is pretty good on it too.

Maybe wait for the s4. Whenever that will be. I've had my upgrade since last year, kept it to hold onto my infuse because of awesome devs. But I'll use up the upgrade for the s4, if it doesn't have the 5" screen.
Funny that before, manufacturers were competing to make the smallest phone, now it's for the biggest and slickest design

yeah. i prefer something sgs2 sized. and by that i mean the international one and the first att one with the exynos. if they can eliminate the edge area and get a big screen on that footprint then ok, but if they can manage a 4.2-4.5" 16/9 screen even at low res on a captivate sized footprint i think it would be ideal. i'll go for a second rate phone with qhd res as long as it's a small footprint and has a decent amount of ram. with all these quad cores out there a decent dual core should start to show up in cheaper phones and there is nothing wrong with any dual cores out there unless it's a tegra2 but i think that thing has pretty much been retired.

Microsoft controls the specs. the phone may be obsolete when the next iteration of windows comes out. there is little variation from phone to phone.
I'm not a fan of the interface. but it has to be better than phone 7. Microsoft fans are still hacking wm 6.1 because 7 has less for running things in the background. I'm pretty sure wp7 was kinda a test to see if people would get the metro interface. maybe 8 will bring back the wm6.1 fans that switched to android out of necessity if 8 improves on some things. but I don't think it'll convert android fans and developers.
from what I've seen at least on tablets you can split the display with different apps on windows 8 but I'm not sure about the phone version. the problem about what I've seen on 8 is there is no visual clues for stuff. some of the gestures look natural but nothing tells you its there. like swiping from the screen edge to bring in the last app or a side bar and such. very learnable and easy but still something you have to learn.

Hey Guys,
I had a question about this specific phone, I have been using the myTouch 4G for over 3.5+ years, where I rooted the phone to run CM7.2. I saw this phone on sale for $139.99 and decided to try it out. I have been using it for a few days, it seems fast, but my biggest reason for retiring my original myTouch 4G was because it has been too long and the phone and hardware is basically becoming outdated.
I wanted to clarify, does this phone seem to still have a good life to it? Will there be future updates to install Jelly Bean? I honestly want a phone that will last me a long time (like my myTouch 4G did) and has the same neat features to it too. I am a college student, so I am looking for a solid daily driver at the end of the day to get my job done.

This is a great phone. Does it match up against the heavyweights? No, of course not. Will it get official Jelly Bean? No. Samsung quit developing it after 4.0.4. We have cm10, cm10.1, cm10.2, and cm11. There are issues with the builds past cm10, but nothing deal-breaking for me. There are issues with Kitkat, but the amazing devs are working on it and hopefully get those figured out.
If you don't mind rooting (and for this phone it's way easy, imo) and flashing, then there are a lot of excellent ROM's here. If you want official JB, then I would suggest looking elsewhere. I would recommend this phone (it's basically a smaller S2), but I've done a lot to it.

Thanks for responding! I really want to love and use this phone for the long run! I guess my only clarification is, is this phone a good long-term phone? I am open to rooting my phone, or am even more open to staying put with the Stock ROM (it doesn't seem to bother me so far...). I obviously want a phone that would last hardware wise, and I figured the dual-core snappy processor would be the biggest nudge, especially for the price range I managed to pick this up fore ($139.99) on Amazon.
Other than that, I think this might be a good phone. To start off, do you have any good recommended daily drivers like ROMs for this phone? Obviously, something fast, and consumes minimal battery life.
Also, since this phone is brand new, would rooting it void my warranty for the device? I had officially rooted my myTouch 4G after two full years (my warranty period was over).
Racing19969's AOKP Jelly Bean rom has been great to me. The only issue I've had is governor settings not sticking after a reboot.
As for the device itsself, battery life is a bit lacking IMO. I get about 10 hours with moderate use. Maybe 12 if I use it only when necessary, & I could kill it in less than 6 if gaming.
Other thing is the USB port is suceptible to damage w/the cable in. I'm on my 2nd warrantee replacement for this.
And finally, yes, rooting any device will void its' warrantee. (though I sent both of my broken ones back stock, but still rooted. No one seemed to notice. Shh!)

All that I would add to this is that if you want official JB and don't want to root and whatnot then you should give the galaxy s light sgh-t399 a look. Often priced at 149 (was this price on newegg recently). Quad core but otherwise similarly spec'd - 4 inch screen, 5mp camera, but the light also has LTE whereas the blaze does not.

Would the quad core processor make a giant difference in terms of performance compared to the Blaze? The Galaxy Light is listed as "1.4 GHz Quad Core" versus the Blaze, which is listed as "1.5GHz Dual Core". For a mobile phone, would the difference in performance be very big that I should consider switching? I don't mind spending $149 at all, just another $10 bump. But I wouldn't want to waste my time and money doing it if the performance was very minimal, and really did nothing for me.

I don't think it would be minimal- there should be architectural differences with the newer SoC (the light) beyond just clock speed that will positively impact performance. Having said that, there should be a performance gain with the quad - whether or not you would be able to notice that is really dependent on how you will use your phone. I believe the light's SoC uses smaller transistors (should be 28nm) vs the blaze's 45nm SoC which usually means better battery life (since the screens are the same). In addition, the light has a slightly larger battery (1800 vs the blazes 1750). If you live in an LTE area you shouldn't dismiss the light's LTE capability.
But there is ZERO development on the light now. Not even root. If that matters to you then the blaze would be a better choice. 4.4 is here, and the little issues with 4.4 will soon be worked out by some really cool guys dedicating their time for this community.
If price isn't an issue (over $10) then my recommendation would be this:
If root and development (getting 4.4 and possibly beyond) matter at all to you, then get the blaze.
If you need or want LTE, want a fully functional phone with JB (the barcode camera functionality and speakerphone are all I am aware of not working in the JB roms for the blaze), can live with touchwiz, and want the newer/more powerful/(slightly) better battery life device then get the light.

Just curios, why is there absolutely no development on the light? Speed is not a huge issue for me with the Blaze right now.
In all honesty, I rarely play video games on my phone, I usually use it as a device to keep me synced with my calendar, go on facebook/instagram/snapchat and text people. I use it to call occasionally for a couple of minutes, but other than that, I really am mostly browsing stuff that is about it. I personally dislike gaming on mobile phones (I might play Flow when I get super bored) but seriously, that is about it.
How would you guys consider the camera for the Blaze? I think the front camera is actually much better, right? Also, on the myTouch 4G, there was a little Light blinker for notifs, I realize the Blaze does not have that, but do other smartphones have that as well?
I really like this phone so far, will require some adjusting as I am used to pressing a physical button for the camera to open up, but it is totally fine.
As of right now, it looks like I am geared to sticking with this phone from everyone's suggestions.

There is no development on the light due to it just being so new. Also, the sub 199 phone market has just had some recent compelling phones enter this segment (the moto g is just one) so anyone who wanted to purchase a sub 199 phone perhaps already has. That's not to say that there will be always no development on the phone, but you are taking a chance if you buy it if you want a phone that has an active development community.
FWIW - I am thinking of picking up the light as a backup (since I gave my blaze to my cousin). If development ever takes off, that phone will be great. If not, if it at least gets root I will be happy with having wifi calling again.
The camera is passable, it's obviously nothing high end. I don't ever use the front camera - I'm just not a 'selfie' kind of person
Not many low end phones have a notification light, so I don't think the light has one either.
The blaze is a great little phone, and with a kick ass dev community, it should be running the latest android for awhile.

The Samsung Galaxy Light is actually priced for $169.99 (cheapest I found, which was on Amazon). I honestly don't feel like putting up another $30.00 for it, what do you guys think? At the end of the day, my needs seem pretty simple... As of right now ICS is doing me fine, might consider rooting my phone once I do officially get out of school again (most likely Spring break). Thoughts?
I am hoping to keep this phone for at least two years, or even more, as I personally don't "game" or take fancy smancy pictures, other than a couple of Instagram pictures, which are always filtered... (its true! ).
I'm itching for a new phone myself but my Blaze just keeps chugging along with all of the awesome devs kicking out sweet roms. I've got my eye on the N5 for my next phone but I just can't justify shelling out the cash when the Blaze is just fine for my daily needs. If/when the few lingering bugs are work out in the KitKat roms (speaker phone & scanner) I will be in hog heaven!
