Alternative to LBE SecurityMaster: LBE Privacy Guard from MIUI working on Jelly Bean!
Because I was not satisfied with LBE Security Master, I searched for an alternative running on Jelly Bean and voilà, I found this:

I tried it on my Nexus 4 with Stock Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and its working great although there are two downsides:
No monitoring of system apps
No blocking of Internetconnections (3G and WIFI), but you can use any firewall app from the play store...

Unfortunately there is no update of the app "LBE Privacy Guard" for Jelly Bean.
Installing on Jelly Bean inevitably leads to Bootloop.
A "Fix Permission" under CWM though fixes the Bootloop but the app will not operate although it says "YOUR PHONE IS PROTECTED "
With the newly developed LBE security master I cannot and want not to befriend me.
All other alternatives are not acceptable for me.
From this necessity, I have extracted the "LBESEC_MIUI. apk" out of a current MIUI Rom on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to test whether it is running.
Installation was denied the first attempt. So I signed the app - and managed to install it without trouble. The app requires, of course, also root rights and functions nearly as well as LBE Privacy Guard. Cons: The system apps are not monitored. Moreover, you can not block (3G and Wi-Fi) Internet function, but that is surely managed by any good firewall from the Play store.
In the extracted LBESEC_MIUI . apk from MIUI-Rom is an additional auto-start button installed, but neither this nor the startup manager in the app is functional. Meanwhile, I have done a thorough internet search to find more functional versions. Here are my collected works:
LBESEC_MIUI_3.3.1078 - latest version (extracted, signed, without auto-start function):

With this the app is installed as SystemApp, everything you need is included, and your root files (if not already) brought up to date. Miui_Security_3.3.1073 doesn't seem to work on all devices. Those have to take another version. Have fun with it

I just odin-flashed 4.3 on my galaxy note 2 (rooted, of course), and LBE is not playing nicely. Device locks up - even with all KNOX crap disabled/frozen ... I'll have to confirm my version; but on 4.1.2, it runs fine.
Will there be a working one for KitKat in near future? Maybe MIUI one if it will be based on KitKat one day...? I really don't like LBE Security Master... Thx in advance.

I tried too, it's possible to install and it runs but it does nothing under KitKat. Did you see the requests by apps? Even if I start an app there are no requests for any permissions - everywhere "0" requests, that means it does also not block requests. To be clear - I don't mean LBE Security Master, I mean LBE Privacy Guard (it's not that bloated with things I don't need).

how do i check requests? thats the app im using and in the logs it says the permission is denied

When you open permissions, requests are displayed directly under the several permissions (smaller and in light gray). Sorry for the late answer, didn't check thread for a while.

Nice find, but it does not appear to detect the Facebook app, at least when it is installed as a system app (HTC One)
Don't be fooled. It doesn't matter if you got the program to not boot loop anymore. LBE Privacy Guard does not work on any version of Android beyond 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The permissions management is different in Jelly Bean and beyond so it does not and will never work. Time to move onto different privacy management apps (eg. XPrivacy).

What's the best way to achieve this? I want to reach the optimal battery usage for these 3 tasks, disabling everything I don't need.

In /system/app there's no Trebuchet.apk (it was there in 10.2). I haven't tried this ROM, but it looks like there is no Trebuchet here. Or it has a different file name.

It does contain updated trebuchet. You can grab it from the zip(something like Luncher3 or similar).

I was too fast again. Well... First thing is TRWP refused to install gapps. The other: I coudn't restore my apps with Titatium Backup since it couldn't gain root access. I'll try the next release.
Besides, I like the new tap button sound. It's less offensive than the previous one.

Downloaded some other zip with gapps for 4.4, flashed and... phone died - I even cannot enter bootmenu.
So that's the story for today.

Finally after 3 hours I'm when I started at the beginning.
Besides, does any of you have a flashable zip file with TRWP which from one hand can be flashed with an old CWM recovery (the one from droid2bootstrap), and from other hand can flash latest 10.2 ROMs? If I had something like that, I would save 2 hours of work...

It looks similart to 4.3. Not so blue - more grayish blue tint. Also screen font is more compact (similar to that Nokia had on Symbian devices). Quite smooth, at least as smooth as 4.3 - but I didn't have a chance to test it deeper.
And now what the matter with your phone? You have to flash sbf, and do everything (rooting,etc...)from the beggining?

Yes, I've already done it.
SBF -> root -> bootstrap -> CM10 -> Engle's CM10.1 -> Czechop's 10.2
If only I had a TRWP zip which can be flashed from old boostrap app the way would be shortened to:
SBF -> root -> bootstrap -> TRWP -> Czechop's 10.2
And another interesting thing. The biggest problem of MS2 is a locked bootloader, yes? But thanks to it I didn't brick my phone. I'm using Linux and usually flash SBF from inside a VirtualBox Windows machine. Today something went wrong, and virtual machine froze during early flashing stage. I had to disconnect MS2 during flash. At that point when I put battery, a screen similar to power+camera+vol_up appeared saying that code is broken, but I was still able to flash SBF again (this time under "real" Windows). Lucky me, because I thought I will have to upgrade my phone and leave MS2 threads.

AOSP is hard google code as is, and cm11 is a customization of AOSP.

So I moved one small step further: managed to root AOSP 4.4 with an app called Kingo Android Root (very easy one click method performed under Windows - there are some information that it looks suspicious, and some suggest it might install some malware, but for me it worked like charm).
Now there's one more thing that prohibits me from daily use. I have no mobile data access - I can call phone, but data connection is possible only with wi-fi. Has any of you encountered such problems?
And last: I'm not able to install gapps provided in first post. Is anyone else affected too?

This is the CyanogenMod 12.1 Gallery2.apk with Material Design compiled directly from CM sources.
Installation:
Just download and install the apk.
Compatibility:

Why would you need this?
AOSP ROMs like CyanogenMod and Euphoria OS: already included, will only overwrite the preinstalled version.
Google stock ROMs (Nexus and GPe): not included, feel feel to try.
Other OEM ROMs like TouchWiz: not included, feel free to try.
Other minimalistic ROMs (like BoostPop) that don't bundle the AOSP Gallery: not included, feel free to try.

Well, can anyone mod the app to have both Vertical scroll and Horizontal scroll. People prefer vertical over horizontal. Like the 'Vertical Gallery' in play store has that option, but it is not material design yet.

It could be conflicting with the Gallery app already installed on your device.

Try copying my apk into /System/Apps. Or you can just reflash the ROM zip without wiping data.

The easiest easy is to just install the apk instead of dropping it in /system/app. The apk has been packaged in a way so that the libs get installed automatically.

PornAway is an extracted version of AdAway. I know blocking porn sites sounds kinda ridiculous but I did what I just wanted. It needs root and does the same as AdAway, make changes of system/etc/hosts file and that's all. Library & Compilation credit goes to AdAway developers.
- Requires 'root' privilege
- Blocks country based porn sites
- Blocks porn ads, spammers (Now Ongoing!)
- Block mature contents provided by search engines.
- Doesn't support browsers that provides their own host sources.
If you're a parent you can try this for your children!
NOTES :
-You can't use both the AdAway & PornAway, cause they both make changes of the host file, conflicts! Either use Pornaway to block porn sites or AdAway. Yeah I don't support ad blocking that much. You should uninstall AdAway(if you already have) before installing PornAway(You can keep both app installed).
How To Use :
- Read above 'Notes' first.
- Install PornAway , open it.
- Give root access.
- Press on 'Apply Porn Blocking' with data connection.
- After successfully applying, reboot your phone.
Mature-Safe Activation :

Thanks ! And it is already country based, like mostly supports USA,UK,Canada and Asia. I m still working on it. Without root, it'd be possible, which can be done by a VPN service that blocks porn sites! Will keep your words in mind.
Make sure you have root access and uninstall any version of AdAway before you install PornAway , I've tested it on Marshmallow, Lollipop and CM13, works fine!

This can be happened because of issues in your system/ROM , cause the app fails to analyse data. This should be happened with many other app that analyse data. Try to upgrade your ROM.
Maybe you can post your hosts source as a file that can be used in other hosts managers.
The contrary is also true, antiad sources could be used in PornAway.
The "conflict" is just two hosts managers. If we have just one, hosts file will be smaller and both objectives could be achieved.

I understand what you meant, but I've mentioned it in the post, I don't support ad blocking that much, or I'd add an option to apply the ad blocker in PornAway. You're free to get advantages by yourself!

Please understand that, it's not an app for your PC, like 'why not you try a phonecall on your emulator?' It will only work on your rooted android devices.

I've figure out the issue already and soon(in a few days) I'll be updating the app and release it as a open project for every devices that support custom host file including Android. Please have patience till then :angel:

But it still has an ForceClose issue on Nougat 7.1.2 (Resurrection Remix Nougat ROM) when tapping the share roll down "share icon>share more" like the playstore version has as well.
Can you fix the ForceClose with an updated Mod?
I'm momentarily using an old Quickpic version (2.9.4) on Nougat 7.1.2 where the share roll down still works. This old version also predates the QuickPicService but is very basic.

That's the bug of official 4.x apk and I do not have the capability to modify those source code.
The sharing fc issue is fixed as of 4.7.1 (4710082).
Some said it was a Lineage-based custom ROMs problem, but it turns out they were wrong.
4.7.0 and 4.7.1 mod updated.
Does 4.7.1 also have background services disabled?

Yes,both 4.7.0 and 4.7.1 background process have been disabled. These two versions are released on Google play and easier to modify.
So which one to use? 4.7.0.0061MOD or 4.7.1.0076MOD from your post?
4.7.2 works fine on my S8+.

I've updated 4.7.2.0086 link. This version is recommended.
There is no great changes between 4.7.0.0061MOD , 4.7.1.0076MOD and 4.7.2.0086MOD.
