[Q] Not Authorized Message - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I am Stock rooted, and unlocked. I downloaded and flashed the new Stock rom. I am now getting the System software not authorized. When it boots. I cannot get into odin or recovery. It keeps going back to the not authorized message.
Any help would be appreciated

You didn't unlock your bootloader right. Now you have to start over, remove your battery and put it and and hold power volume down and home and get into download and your gna have to Odin back to a previous version of touchwiz.

Pull battery, SIM and SD cards and leave phone for a while. I used a piece of bare metal and shorted all the battery connections in the phone (battery still removed) to speed this up. I was then able to boot back into download mode for Odin. Hope this helps.

[Q] Bad CWM flash, can't boot to anything

I've been running Slim Bean 2.7 with the latest Gapps package (released 10/04). I was having trouble switching between 3g and 4g so i thought I would reinstall SB and Gapps. To do this, I started by flashing CWM Touch but i apparently had a bad download. When i tried to boot into recovery after flashing CWM, I found that my phone flashed the Samsung screen with the blue text in the top left corner but then flashed off and stopped responding. I tried removing the battery but it continues to do the same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
Can you get to download mode? If so, odin flash back to stock, take the ota, root and unlock and try again. I've been using the new TWRP and its fantastic so far.

Fortunately since you get a boot splash you should be able to recover with Odin, as suggested. Always always check md5 on ROM and recovery downloads.
I appreciate the quick repsonses everyone. It seems that I was able to interrupt the bootloop (I'm not sure if I'm using that correctly) by booting into download mode, restarting, and booting normally. I'm poorly versed in development, but I'm still trying to learn more about the ins and outs of my phone so I run into trouble from time to time. These forums are life-savers. Thanks again.

[Q] Help: BRICK'd. can't boot into anything (recovery, download, etc)

background: rooted and was running 4.1 stock and CWM 10.0 on verizon gs3. i wanted to bump up to jelly bean 4.2 with CWM 10.1.
first i tried using Rom Manager and Rom Toolkit to flash a new rom. from Rom Manager, i rebooted into recovery and got stuck on the CWM boot screen.
After 30 minutes or so i pulled the battery and tried flashing the stock .tar.md5 using Odin and ended up with this:
"System software not authorized by verizon wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest verizon wireless store for help."
now i can't boot into download or recovery. i just have this screen with the yellow exclamation point and the above message.
how screwed am i? i've tried reading everywhere and from what i can gather i didn't wipe my cache sufficiently, but all the other threads just say 'use Odin to get back to stock', but i can't get into download mode so i can't use odin.
please help.
You're bootloader wasn't unlocked. Pull the battery then hold power, volume down, and home for fifteen or twenty seconds until it boots into download mode. Odin flash a stock rom then root AND ALSO unlock your bootloader.

I have noticed that a lot of people have not unlocked the bootloader are posting on here that they have "bricked" their phones.

Ha, I agree although I think its occurred in decreasing fashion since August. Being "bricked" is used overeagerly by folks not wholly understanding their situation. You really have to try to brick this device before that word can be used correctly.
Your phone has not been bricked. You will know that you have bricked your phone when you can't turn on your phone at all. No download mode and no recovery mode also no pulling of the battery just a dead phone.
ClockworkMod
When you fix your phone, root then unlock the bootloader... You can try RM again but I believe that it is best to use ClockworkMod (or the Touch version) for flashing instead of ROM Manager - old fashion, maybe, but it works!
NOTE: Once you start flashing it becomes addictive - you have been warned
thanks for the comments. my apologies for using the term Brick incorrectly as it seems to really chap the cheeks of some people on this board (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149210)
no luck with holding down buttons with the battery pulled. i ordered a USB Jig to try and force it back into download mode.
From there, what should my first step be? return to stock?

thanks that's a very helpful thread. However, i still can't get into download/Odin mode. i'm guessing if/once the USB jig can force the phone into download mode, this is where i'll start.
thanks for everyone's help and patience.

firmware upgrade encountered an issus (Need Help Please)

Hello I just got this skyrocket after losing my i777 that I had rooted and was running Task650 JB 4.2.2 rom. Well I went and download odin and openrecover-twrp-2.4.4.0-skyrocket. I did just what the sticky said to do run odin and click on pda and put the openrecovery tar file in. I then took my battery out wait a few sec put it back in and press both up and down volume key.
While hold down the keys I put the usb cable in and when it came on I press up and got into download mode. I started odin and it was downloading and then it fail. I didn't put the battery back plate back on when I first took the battery out and when I got up I hit the cord and it lifted the phone up and the battery came out. I put the battery back in and when I tried to get back in download mode or recovery I get this message firmware upgrade encountered an issue. I download kies and that didn't help it wont connect to kies. it does to my computer and when you start odin and I plug it in I get the yellow bar so it does detect the phone. I just cant get into download mode. Can someone please help me.
follow the stickied thread:

EDIT: follow the same process you used to get into download mode the first time, but if you're still having issues i would suggest looking at the thread. you should find all the help you need there.
I cant get into download mode. I tried it again but it the same thing. As soon I put the battery in and either hook up the usb cord or press power I get firmware message. Can someone please walk me through the process of getting into download mode It was stock. It didn't even have the new updates. This was a phone that a friend sold me real cheap. I did a factory reset when I got it.

7. How To Put your device into Download Mode (aka odin mode):
If I understood your post correctly:
You can't get into download mode, because you're already in it.
"Firmware" message IS in fact another screen of the same download mode.
If you see the phone in ODIN - then why would you even ask questions instead of trying to flash?

Also, do NOT flash i777 roms on the skyrocket.

I had the same exact problem the other night. Just run ODIN again and then you should be able to get to recovery and / or download mode.

Phone Unresponsive

I was running CWM with Cyanogenmod 522 today when my phone started acting up. During the day, the power button was acting funny. When pressed, it would go to black screen but then instantly pop back to lockscreen. I never got that problem fixed. Recovery would never boot no matter how I tried to boot it up. A few minutes ago, I tried rebooting the phone. It turned off and now no matter what I do, I cant get any response from my phone. No vibrations or anything. Upon plugging into my pc, it tries to install the driver: QHUSB_DLOAD but fails shortly. How can I get my phone working again? Please help!
Can you get into odin mode? If not, its probably a hardware issue. Try and get a replacement

[Completed] Galaxy Note 3 LTE Stuck in bootloop

I very recently purchased a used Galaxy Note 3 that has been well used and loved. I bought it because I was told that the phone died whilst updating to Lollipop and because of this, the phone will now not boot. It is stuck in a bootloop with Recovery........ In the top corner.
Now my problem is this, I cannot get into Recovery Mode. It Just turns off again before I can access the screen, vibrates, then comes back on, rinse and repeat. I can get I to Odin mode, download mode, if you like.
I have tried flashing a Lollipop stock OS onto the device but I continually had the same problem, so I downloaded a CWM Recovery and flashed that onto the phone, but now I'm getting an error of SEAndroid is not enforcing... Blah blah.
I am incredibly stuck here and I know literally nothing about rooting. I just want this fixed, and am willing to try anything you throw at me if you're willing to push me to get there. Thanks, and I appreciate any advice!
Thank you for using XDA Assist. If you bought a device that was not working it may not be recoverable. Your best bet is to flash the stock firmware using Odin in your case. I've provided a link below for your device. Look in the general and q&a forums for how to return your device to stock. Good luck to you!
