Hi everyone, I dropped my phone a few days ago. It landed on the bottom right corner when looking at the screen. It landed on an angle so only the back and corner is damaged. Since then my sd card hasn't been functioning properly. It says the card needs to be formatted or just won't recognize it anymore. But when i remove and insert it again, it works fine. I tried the card in another phone and it works fine. Any idea what the problem is and if it's even relevant to the fall.
It probably is...if you are on custom ROM, then go back to stock, and see if you still have the problem. If there is, then most likely its a device issue. You can also try a different card to see if you have same issues as well...
It was something wrong with the software on my phone. I didn't have any roms and was just using apex launcher. I took it back to future shop and they did a factory reset and it got stuck in a boot loop. They ended up replacing it with a galaxy s4 for an extra $150. I miss my razr, the galaxy feels so cheap compared to it.
Maybe a bad phone...but 150 for a S4 is not too bad...

Hi, help please. I been using these new builds and working very well, but now I just get 'The SIM card is missing', I have tried other SIM cards with the same message!.. please help
thanks
Help Help Help, please any ideas, my phone is still stuck on sim card missing!
have you tryed reflashing it with different rom?
Yes, flashed with 3 ROM's and also flashed with RADIO's ROM's, but still the same.
This phone is getting worse, with no phone working I still use it for TOMTOM, but now no sound or patchie sounds, music or phone sounds, I flash it back to WM5 still same and flash it back to WM6 but still no sound. Is there anyway to completey delete the phone so nothing on it then flash it.
Maybe it's because you've got an hardware problem ... so maybe you should see your "service after sale" !!
I would if it was still in contract, so I am thinking about taking the thing apart, and see if anything come loose?. any info would be nice, tried searching but nothing
This phone is very sick, if i put a SIM card in it I get a blank screen when it reboots, or if I take SIM out I may get the blank screen which I have to reset couple of times, took the back off but cannot see any connector off. So I have to pay alot of money to fix it or buy another PDA.

My only question is: What changed?
Is there something that you can think of that caused this to occur?
Have you dropped or bumped the phone? Liquid got to it? Charging when the power died or there was a lightning strike?
Without knowing this, there is very little that can be done.
As for pulling the device apart - I would recommend against this. Complex electronics like these have no user-serviceable parts, the most you can do is to look for physical damage (such as burnt components or broken legs on chips) or water damage. And then, even if you did find the damage, you would be able to do very little with it as the components can be hard to find (for any of the chips) and the soldering is extremely difficult (my father hand solders surface-mount components using special liquid-solder and a microscope).
If you want to repair it, find your nearest HTC (or I-Mate\Dopod\O2\etc) repair centre and give it to them. Keep in mind that you've already voided the warranty by installing a custom ROM (although you can just install the manufacturer's ROM and pretend you never used WM6...).
Hope this helps!
I use it every day with TOMTOM or I-go (lorry driver),so getting knock's vibration-yes. camera stop working and green went green-but after a couple of weeks it when back normal. never failed on flashing or stuck on bootmode. NO SIM started I just reset it then it was ok until next time. Then it went back normal for a couple of weeks, then NO SIM came on and couple more things happen(above posts). And that how it stands. So 12 months gone a passed (18 month contract). So its sent it to O2( big bill I think) or buy a PDA (cheap I hope). Or wait and see for upgrade brings
Update on my EXEC, It starts as followed, O2 screen comes up with it info at bottom right then the next screen is the windows mobile6 screen and then black screen, tryed mtty, also re flashed it....now its dead R.I.P...
I think I flashed it too many times so be warned!!!!
Been looking at other PDA phones, none of them comes near EXEC will apart from AMEO(thats nice but too much), so looks like another EXEC I think, and yes I will be flashing that one as well if I get O2 to part with one.
Hi, all tryed to get a new EXEC from O2, but sady they say they dont do it no more, so upgraded to the ORBIT( or should I say down graded). SO I like to say bye bye and watch that flashing because it will kill your phone.
Hi Guys,
I've had the Att Galaxy S Captivate phone since December and it's been both a dream and nightmare. The phone is phenomenal when it's working but I've been having issues with them from the first phone.
Basically I've been through 4 yes 4 Captivates with the same issue. Let me first just say that I've kept them in pristine condition! The stupid things still have the original plastic on them! Either the phone is in my pocket or sitting on a table charging! None of them have ever seen the ground nor moisture of any kind including sweat!
The problem is basically this:
I'll be on a phone call or using the browser, then the phone will softly vibrate like I've provided a user input, the little bar will say External SD card removed. After that the screen will black out with the 4 soft keys still staying lit. Then the phone comes back up to it's lock screen and says Media Scanner running and it's an endless cycle after that.
Basically it's resetting but without the Galaxy S logo or the ATT logo in an endless cycle.
I read somewhere on
I don't have an SD card inserted nor do I have any suspicious applications. Hell the only things I have are Facebook, GasBuddy and Email synced.
I've done numerous hard resets, gotten a new sim card and 4 phones! Has anyone else had anything like this?
I take it your running the stock ROM?
In which case you have two options:
Get a new phone, or install a custom ROM.
Mikey's pretty much spot on with this one. Try a custom rom if you are stock. If not, go back to stock. Eliminate software as the cause first. If.it persists, new phone time.
Sent from my Oops it just shutdown again.
try removing your apps and see if it goes away, if it does put your apps back one at a time wait a few days to see if the problem returns between adding your apps if you get the problem without apps, do you have an external sd card if so, remove it and see if the problem returns, if it does, get a new phone.
csmeance,
Please reply if, and when, you solve the problem. I had virtually the same thing happen twice within 20 minutes, removed the battery and rebooted and haven't had it happen again.

I have the stock rom on the phone, no alterations what so ever! The only thing I've done in common on all 4 phones is sync my email and facebook.

I've only used factory software on the phone and done numerous hard resets with tech support, and in one instance is made the problem happen right after it turned on without any sort of reason!

Like I said, I have the factory ATT apps and then an updated facebook one. As well I have that gas buddy app which I got with my 3rd phone since a friend suggested I use it to save some money!
NO external SD card used at all, hell I haven't even plugged it into the computer for anything!

I've done that a few times with my first 1st and it would help for a day or two and reoccur over and over.
Multiple phones with a problem regarding external SD card makes me think something is wrong with your SD card, try formatting or a different card.

But I'm not putting in an SD card! Only thing that goes into the new phone is the battery and SIM chip!
Maybe it's referring to the internal SD card
Got a new phone from ATT so I'll wait and see what happens with this one...
are you using the stock samsung wall charger? Using chargers that provide less than 1000mA current make the phone think it's being used by a computer as a USB device. When the phone is removed from the charger, it then rescans the SD cards,etc...
Download RescanMedia, disable media scanning until you need to use it. FYI, you must have USB debugging enabled to use RescanMedia.
Maybe that will help you.
Umm well.. u're saying that u're syncing the Email on all 4..
If u're syncing to Exchange, maybe it propagates some kind of a "bad" certificate on your phone making it do silly things?
This has happened with 4 phones? Why don't you insert an sd card and see if that does it? Or go to settings and mount/unmount sd card?
Four phones with the same fault is highly suspicious. Focus on the things that are common to all phones. I would start with the sim

I already have gotten 2 new sim cards and am going to get another one today. I got the 5th one a few days ago and put the 2.2 update from Samsung and Att on it. Today the same thing is happening. I'm going to make a video of it and send it to att and samsung. This is getting ridiculous...
I'm using the stock charger and the ATT stuff only. I've noticed though with the 2.2 update, the phone will vibrate twice quickly, then once, then freeze and shut off and restart. With 2.1 on all the other phones, it would just restart without any sort of vibrate/tone.
Also this is with it off the charger and on the charger. It doesn't matter at all.
Just as an aftertought, the only thing that I have done in common is talked on the phone while it's been on the charger. When I do this the phone gets VERY hot and I end up using the speaker phone function. Is it normal to do this on the capitvate? I know my old Tilt 2 used to do the same.
Update: Called up ATT and they said to get another new sim, they think it might have been corrupted somehow with the captivate update. I'm going to grab a new one!
When they send you a new phone, do you get a new battery too? You said it gets really hot, maybe there's something wrong with that.

Up until this afternoon I have been using my One X without issue running CleanROM 4.5. I took my phone out of my pocket and suddenly I got an error saying the SIM card is no longer detected. I immediately turned on airplane mode and then turned it off again, advice I remember reading from other people with similar issues, however it didn't fix the problem. Thinking it was possibly a contact error, I took the SIM out and put a piece of tape on the back and reinserted it, to no avail. I tried adding another piece of tape to make sure; again, nothing. I backed up everything and wiped the phone, and installed RebelMOD to see if it was potentially an OS issue; unfortunately, the different ROM makes no difference.
Am I SOL here on a software-related fix? Is it possible the SIM slot just went bad all of a sudden? I tried another SIM card from my work phone but it was not detected either, while the SIM from my phone was detected in my work phone. All of this points to a hardware issue, but I'm wondering where it came from and why it happened so suddenly, as well as what my options are.
Thanks in advance!
same problem

I'm having the same problem here, I had the phone for like 2 month and last week all in a sudden
no more reception as the phone doesn't detect the sim card anymore. The worst came after, I tried to open my sim tray with that HTC pin provided with the phone, and instead of opening it damaged the metal slot and couldn't get my sim card out. So now I m without phone as I had so bring back to JB Hifi and they had to send it over east for repair as the warranty goes through Fone biz and told me I have to wait 2 weeks for it to get repaired and sent back. Has anyone been throught that?
Thanks
Sudden SIM Destruction!!
I had that same thing happen, i was playing a game and all the sudden i heard a pop and no sim message appeared! My warranty wont cover because i have a tiny hairline crack on my screen! can anyone please help!
A pop is bad. Probably not easily repaired. For the others you could try a piece of tape on the sim give it a tighter fit up against the contact in the phone or purchase a new sim tray

A while ago my Nexus S 4g stopped working (turned off of it's own accord, started turning on and off likewise, eventually stopped even that much, wouldn't turn on- wasn't even rooted). Being foolish, I hadn't backed up any of my files. Taking it apart, I found the piece that holds the internal memory. Took it off. Ordered a used one with a broken screen for a low price, and then checked to make sure that was working. After I confirmed it, I tried swapping that part of the board. The phone wouldn't turn on. So, I swapped it back. The phone turned on like normal. Taking that in stride, I decided to see if I could swap the screens, and at least have a working phone and fixed screen. Only, the phone wouldn't boot with the new insides and old screen (with either memory board). Next I tried putting back all the original pieces. Once again, no luck.
Any thoughts on where I went wrong, or how I might be able to get it to boot up again?
Side note: I had hoped that even if I couldn't save my files I could practice with custom roms on the new used phone.Seems that's unlikely as of now Back on track!
EDIT: Ok, after taking apart everything, and reexamining it, I put it back together with all the new used parts. Woohoo! We have life! The question that remains, then, is "is there a reason the parts from the original phone (screen, internal memory board) will not work, other than the possibility of them being completely broken?". The point there being, is there something else I might try, or ought I give up the hopes of recovering these files?
EDIT2: Now I have gotten the old screen to work with the new motherboard, battery, etc! Most excellent! But why in the world does the other memory board not work? Most curious! Will post further updates. Please, at the least, let me hear some of your thoughts on the matter. Even if they are bizarre theories, I can try to work through them, and maybe the actual answer will have been bizarre!
EDIT3: To help with thoughts, I've taken pictures (on my AT&T Galaxy S4Active) of both memory boards (feel free to correct the terminology on that). The working one (from the new phone) is on the right, and the one not working is on the left. See any obvious signs of corrosion? Or any sign why one might not work for that matter...?
Hi all, new here. Had my HTC u11+ for a few months now, fantastic phone apart from a few gripes. It keeps saying the SD card has been ejected then reinserted, not a major problem just annoying. The main annoying thing is the phone randomly reboots. It never seems to do it when it's being used, only when screen is off. Worst thing is because of the encryption it doesn't actually fully load back up until I put my passcode in. Any ideas what might be causing this or what I can check or if anyone else has had the same issue? Phone isn't rooted everything is as is from HTC.
Hope someone can help!
Have you tried another microSD card? I've had phones in the past randomly restart because of a bad card.
I haven't no, it used to be fine in my Sony z5 so guessed it would be in this. Worth a try though thanks!
