You could at least have a look around the forums before starting a new thread...
Ok first
There is SEARCH field on right upper corner for newbie it should be your BFF for begining... Secondly there is SuperOneClickRoot software which will do it for you
I have done it and it works
I guess I am bit confused. Which rom's are best for this phone?
I am using stock with removed BloatWare
But heard Deoxed is fairly good

9/10 Roms that are available for just about every phone use CWM as a recovery and install method.
CWM Is not quite yet available... read/search forums.

Im new to the android community and phones. I bought an Inspire with gingerbread (2.3.3) and would like to add cyanogenmod to it but the tutorials look so "harmfull" they scare me away so i have some question.
Can i downgrade from 2.3 to android v1?
Have anyone here rooted and flashed the same phone I have?
What is "radio? Can I change it to another one? how can I tell if it will work with my carrier?
please, please, please. READ
these questions you are asking concern me
1. you dont downgrade to v1....because it doesnt exist
2. we all have the same phone as you, otherwise we wouldnt have an inspire section
3. there is an entire thread dedicated to this very subject....look in the dev section.
there are easy to follow guides, tutorials, and walkthroughs here, but you have to READ...there is ZERO excuse for not reading and comprehending this stuff. if it is too much for you, you should NOT be doing any of it, and leave your phone stock
This is why I said..im NEW with this... none of what you helped in some way.

then you have some READING to do. nobody here is going to hold your hand.
ALL the information you seek is already here, but you have to READ
Sorry if all you want is someone to hold your hand and spoonfeed information to you
NEW or not, it doesnt matter. I was NEW to this phone when i got it. I READ, the same way i have done with all my other phones. I READ to understand what i am doing and how to do it.
heres the first thing you should have read when you came to the inspire boards:

this question has come up several times in the last month. yes it works just fine
Hi, i just rotted the unit and everything was fine
So i decided to use, cyanogenmod, it installed
now i can make calls but it does not connect to the data network portion.
Any ideas?
I noticed the radio baseband is slighly different than the original. could it be?
Sorry. was quick. i entered the APN settings and it is now connecting.. just Edge....before (stock rom) i had "H" (guessing is 3G). Now it only connects to E (edge i assume).
The weird thing is that before whenever i was in an area with only edge It would not allow me to browse but now I can.
any idea jedi master?
you can try a different radio. look at the radio thread in the dev section
Sorry to bother you so much. I was able to solve the radio issue. Now, since the market app wasn't included i followed the guide on how to install gapps but after doing so i can't get pass the boot screen "touch the android to begin".
I try to wipe and reflash but still does not let me do it. Any ideas?
did you touch the android to begin?
Yes, sir. But it will still restart.
i try to wipe data and restart the process but same thing happens.
Tried taping the four corners and an still happening.
Someone said the the gapps file might be corrupted.
Right now cyanogenmod is a pain. is there a way to install another room or the stock one through recovery?
Thanks for all your help!

you can install any rom you like in recovery.
boot into recovery
go to mounts and storage
mount usb storage
on your computer, copy the rom zip onto the phone
back,
install zip file from sdcard
browse to rom zip
confirm flash
Thank you. I am downloading RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_Cingular_US_2.47.502.7_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_200368_signed.exe.... is this the correct stock?
Does it have to be on ZIP? if so, where can i find stock roms?

no. this will leave you an unrooted stock rom
why dont you browse the dev forum here and look at all the ROM offerings?
I think i will just go with the stock one and the do the same procedure (using the hack kit and just leave it stock rooted....
would that be ok?

Hello all,
Just got the Skyrocket about a month ago, it's rooted, but just got into the idea of installing anew ROM/Kernel and decided to try out UnNamed, then possibly install Faux123's Kernel.
I booted to CWM (5.0.2.6), backed up, wiped, wiped cache and tried to install from zip, but the install fails with Status 1. I have searched everywhere, but couldn't find anything about it. I am currently restoring the NANDroid backup I made prior to attempting to flash so I can use my phone.
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated as I am brand new to the Android scene.
Chris

This ROM is for the I777, correct? Why would you put it on a I727? It would be nice if a version would come out for the I727.
SMH.....
and we wonder why manufacturers want to lock down the devices....

No need to be rude. I made a simple mistake. At least I had the common sense to back up first so it's not like I'm in a bad situation.
Well, back to researching other ROMs then.

Before I discovered XDA I started on Google and a lot of results came up for UnNamed and the Skyrocket like someone tagged the site/post/whatever incorrectly. As far as the research goes I want to look at what the different ROMs have to offer, any complaints or issues users are experiencing with them, etc. to make a decision as to which one I would like to install. Same thing with Kernels.
Chris
Hiya.
I was running completely stock S3. I had never rooted before. I rooted the phone easily enough, I installed SuperNexus using the instructions in the thread but it just doesn't want to boot up. The phone just displays the coloured X and goes no further, and now I'm unsure of what to do. If anyone could advise me that would be great!

What droid said. Either you flashed a rom not made for your phone or you posted this in the wrong forum...super derped...
The answer is simple, you flashed a rom that was NOT developed for the verizon SIII and that's why it won't boot. Your best bet is to odin back to stock and flash a rom that's built for the verizon SIII. I am not trying to be mean, but you really should be reading the original post when you go to flash a rom, or at least make sure your in the right section. Just because its stable for another phone does not mean its stable for our phone.
Ditto...
Agree with previous posters... pray that a re-flash of a stock or the OTA d2vzw ROM will work and whatever you did flash didn't blow your modem/radio files. I'm no expert on the SGS3 but I'm oh-so-familiar with flashing custom ROMs and files onto phones and if you're a beginner... you better triple-quadruple-double check the ROM you are looking at (no I don't mean the one you are about to flash, not the one you just downloaded, the one you are reading about on a forum/thread!) is correct for not only your model phone (SGS3), but correct for your variant of the phone... I535 is the d2vzw model and don't touch or even bother reading or downloading any other variants stuff.
Good luck! :good:
This thread has links to d2vzw/i535 files that can be flashed with Odin:

This is the Odin tool download (which you should already have if you are flashing stuff):

OK so I came across a thread that said you would be able to run T-Mobile gs2 roms on skyrockets and I wanted to test it because I love the roms on the T-Mobile gs2. I grabbed the conversation file that the thread provided and I got the T-Mobile gs2 I wanted and began the process. I backed up my current rom and then wiped every thing. I flashed the rom and then the conversion file like it said. I rebooted the phone and it just sat at the Samsung boot screen. I thought it was normal so I left it there for a while and came back and it was still stuck there. Can the skyrocket really run T-Mobile gs2 roms? Did I do anything wrong in my process? I was able to restore to my previous rom so I'm not freaking out, but I really want to run the rom I found. Is there anyone that can help me? Please and thanks in advance.

Simple answer, you are flashing a TW based conversion kit to an AOKp based rom. Just use an AOSP, CM10 and alike kernel to that rom and you should be good.
Disclaimer: do this at your own risk.
