[Q] LG Optimus One P500, are there two models? - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I have just hard bricked my LG P500 after trying to downgrade from 2.3.3 Gingerbread to 2.2.2 and I'm now thinking of buying another one because I like the phone. Are there any other LG models of phone around the same price range that are as good?
My main question, I was looking at http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_one_p500-3516.php and I see that it says
Memory Card slot microSD, up to 32 GB, 2 GB included
Internal 170 MB, 512 MB RAM
Are there two models of LG P500 out there? One with 170mb memory and another with 512mb? I was looking to buy on a few sites and I see that some also state different memory as well. Any idea where is the cheapest I can get a LG P500 in the UK?
Cheers,
Clarkson.

How to find spec. on the phone itself

Hello guys. I was wondering where I can find the actual specs of my Sensation. I know that it suppose to have like 768MB of ram for the OS and a built- in 4 gb of storage and an sdhc expansion for 32gb. But where on the phone is it? I have been looking around and can't find it. I have TMobile and on the "My Device" tab/icon I go to "storage/battery and it says:system memory 1.15 GB and Storage is 7.39 (which is my sdhc card). I also went to "Task Manager" and it says that I have only 558 MB of total memory? So where can I find the actual specs?
Settings>about phone>hardware information and so on...
Around 200 MB of RAM is reserved for the GPU and only 1 GB of the 4 GB internal storage is available to the user.

117MB Swap partition found... Android System Info App available RAM?

Hey guys and girls,
I have a question, I've looked for an answer but I haven't found one. From my experience with android devices, the RAM amount is not fully available. My ZTE Blade had 420 MB available, my nexus one 404 MB, my SGS1 313 MB (?!?! WTF) and my actual LG Speed (aka 2X) has 373 MB available RAM, as I understand some RAM gets allocated to the GPU.
Could someone install the free app Android System Info from the Market and tell me what the app reports at the Dashboard/RAM/Max RAM? This is very important to me, because I do lots of multitasking and I need some apps to always stay in the background, like PKT Auctions or eBay etc. and I find them sometimes closed because of not enough free available RAM, even though I always close rarely used apps after using (MIUI hold back button to close + Autostarts App to keep not needed stuff away from opening).
Thanks a lot, this will help me to take the decision to skip from the LG 2X to the LG 3D (no, I don't want an SGSII, I want to experiment with 3D).
I just installed it and it says that max mem is 441MB so if your Blade or N1 gave you enough room to multitask then this phone will certainly fit your needs.
Thanks a lot mate. I went into a Telekom (T-Mobile) Shop and I have found out from the Quick System Info App that it indeed has 441MB available, BUT 117MB are SWAP The 2X has 373MB but swap is 0. From previous experience with android devices and computers, swap is always bad and slow. So the real available amount of RAM of the LG Optimus 3D is 324MB which is crap, LG just tried to trick the things a little by adding a swap partition.
I have searched in the forums but haven't found anything about a swap partition, which is a very important factor.

[Q] Inbuild Memory

Hi,
I recently purchased Samsung Galaxy SII Plus. As per the site, it comes with 8GB inbuilt memory. When I received the phone, it shows only 3.9 GB total space and 3.56 GB space available. When I contacted the seller, they told me that its Android system which is occupying the remaining space. I am not aware if this is the right reason. Does anyone know about it?
It's normal... All Android OEMs lie about the storage space.
For example the HTC One S 16GB comes with 9.3GB which seems a lot more like 8GB to me.

Yeah, I thought it meant 8 GB available to user too, not 8 GB in total including system files. Thanks to my SD card though, I still have 2.7 GB of internal memory free.
Why is the /cache partition 1 GB though, seems a little overkill?
its almost the same for all device(my old ace says it have 512mb,when only bout 180 is available to me). There are no other internal memory stuff inside your phone,so whatever system will definitely eat some of your internal memory.Even laptop manufacturer are the same(320gb only 280 available),what u expect them to say? Sigh,i dont understand why people only make a fuss bout it now, does everyone start using smartphone only after 2013?
Well people need more and more space andOS need more and more space and phone memory isn't increasing dramatically.

[Q] Internal memory partitioning

Hey everybody,
I am considering getting a Moto G, but i was wondering how the internal memory is partitioned, and how much of it is available for apps and cached music on the 16G version. I read somewhere that on the 8G version, the internal memory in split into 4G system memory for the OS, and 4G for user data. But i could not find the memory partitioning and size for the 16G version.
Anyone with a 16G version who can check this out for me?

I have 12.92 gigs of space before user apps etc. I'm still on the 4.3 ROM, haven't received the new 4.4.2 OTA upgrade.

Cool, does that mean that they did not partition the memory on the 16G version?

I have 8GB version and no partitioning is used, the free memory is available for anything.

No partitioning on 16GB. You can use it for whatever you want.

My Moto G 8Gb is really fast...and perfect except for 2 (common) problems, the most important is the FREE APP Space :
1st - impossible install APP except fro Play Store : NO Amazon app, NO AppOfTheDay free app,..
2nd - 5Gb FREE that with a bit of music (2Gb) , Sygic Navi (600Mb) and something else means only 1 Gb for free space ,,,but the worst info is that,
if i check with DiskUsage it says i have :
APP : 1193 Mb --> when i go to install a new app (only 11 Mb) now it says "i have not enough free space" !! (
SYSTEM DATA : 614 Mb
Really too few space..
Got the same problem.
I have a 8gb and I'm thinking of changing it now for a 16gb.
I don't have any music or big game apps just will have a few average apps and photos. Do you think 8 will be enough?

8 Gb. is enough for me! Like you said, i just have few average apps, i am not the person who's taking a lot of photos and i don't have a lot of music neither, so i'm fine with 8 gb ñ_ñ
I'll might stick with it then.
I'm the sort that downloads a app and if I don't like I delete it. I can't see me having more than 20 + the pre installed apps at any one time. but maybe a good few photos.
For a few big apps , couple of songs and photos 8GB serves well

[Q] moto g memory size

Hello..
I am going to buy the moto g very soon
But I wanted to know if there is a difference between 8 giga/16 giga in term of the size of the application installed....is there any limit?
Because I just want the phone for chatting and doing some simple stuff since I have a galaxy note with 32 giga and I am depending on it a lot
Thank you

I've got a 16GB XT1032 - 12.92GB available to user for apps/media. You can use as much or as little for apps/media as you like.
Other half has a 8GB XT1032 - she's got 5.52GB available to user. Again as much or as little for apps/media as you like.
Now I'm wondering why there is such a big difference in the space taken up by the OS/System partition? (3.08GB on the 16GB as opposed to 2.48Gb on the 8GB). The phones are both on stock firmware, but different carrier versions.....

Thanks for the reply
I guess I should take a 16 giga bytes one
For your information
The more size the memory have , the more the system takes
You can see it clearly on HDD
650 giga and you can use only 500 something
they are always lying about the size but who cares we just buy xD
