Hi everyone,il get straight to the point.
I believe my battery is bad since I have some drain issues. I just got the phone a week ago (already used). The phone looks and works flawlessly, but the battery is so bad. I don't know if this is normal, before I had an Xperia Arc which displayed WAY better battery life. In standby (screen off) it drains like 1%~4 hours (which is ok). Now if I turn wifi on and surf the web for like 10-20 minutes about 10% is gone. With the brightness set to minimum, and best wi-fi perfomance turned off. Also it drains really strange, like from 69% it goes directly to 66% and so on. While watching videos (for example a 720p 20 min video) it drains ~10%,also with minimum brightness.
Tehnical details
-S-off,unlocked bootloader,rooted
-Running ARHD 7.2 with faux kernel - 1Ghz max cpu,-25 undervolt and no gpu oc.
-3.33.401 build
No sync,no 3g,gps,no facebook installed etc. Only mx player and music+videos on sd card.
The main drainer shows up as the screen.
So,is my battery bad,is this battery life normal for the sensation,or is it a rom/kernel/baseband problem?
Thanks in advance,cheers

Hi,
Battery age is important here, because the older it is,the worst it gets.
A new one may well sort out your problem.

Thank you for the reply, but that was not the intended answer I needed to get,let me refrase. So in your personal opinion, reading the data I posted,is this generally normal for this specific phone? (regardless of the battery age or whatsoever)

Hi,
There is no such thing as "Normal" when it comes to battery on the Sensation.
But it is generally accepted ,that when the battery gets old (1 year + ) it starts to deteriorate and behave in strange ways.
There is nothing wrong with your setup of the phone.
I merely suggest that a new battery will improve the general life of your phone.
Of course ,this greatly depends on how you use your phone, as well.
My older phone showed same symptoms. Battery went weak due to my habit of complete drain. I was bad at charging .
Ans. Is yes if battery is old like 1 or more year, it could posses same symptoms. But i will really advice you to try other ROMs like slimbean / any with less battery hunger. Hope it will help.

Hi, I have just come over from the HD2 threads as I'm using a Sensation XE now . My battery current when running android on standby was around 7 - 20 ma. On my XE it is between 180 and 220ma. I killed all running tasks etc but still no change. i'm using Battery Monitor Widget to check the currents. The only thing i have on is mobile internet. I also have on background sync but that was on with my HD2 as well. Is there anything I should look out for that my being draining the battery? Also I'm on stock rom
What did you already tried to solve the problem? Did you already do a soft reset/wipe all data (except that on the SD card)? How long is your battery life?
Yesterday i called HTC because my battery life is reduced drastically compared to a few weeks ago. They told me to turn off everything like bluetooth, wifi etc (after a soft reset) and put the phone in plane mode while screen brightness was 100% and screen time out never so the screen stays on during the test. Next I needed to write down how fast the battery was drained. My battery was at 55% after 2 hours (without doing anything with the phone). According to HTC this was to fast and therefore they send me a new battery.

In 1 hour of standby the battery has drained 5%. the battery current usage is way to high for standby. I have had this phone on 3 days so I dont think i need to do a full wipe. I dont use wifi or bluetooth and they are always switched off. Seems strange to have a high battery usage while in standby compared to my hd2. This battery is meant to be a high capicity
use battery monitor widget (use a beta version from the forum, not the market). set it to "mA corrections" and choose automatic from the list of supported phones. i get anywhere from 5-7 mA drain (standby, of course).

Hi, I'm on stock Rom too. Once I kill all tasks by the default task manager, it ranges between 25 - 60. It does take a bit of time to get there. I Have seen it as low as 19. You need to follow steps and get the beta widget and set it to corrections as mentioned earlier in the posts.

Just a quick update. I let my battery completely die (never done this before) and charged my phone fully. I then deleted the battery stats.txt and switched phone off. the charged some more. Now when my phone uses -5 on standby which it never did before.
Well took my phone off charge at 11.05 today and its been on standby. It's now 15.52 and battery is still on F. Battery drain is now at -3 so i'm well happy.
Thanks indie. Can you let us know what will be happening in the future with your battery?
I've been having general horrible battery problems with my Sensation on stock Sense and Miui.us. I just installed HyperSensation and Faux 0.2.3 kernel with a full wipe and reset the battery calibration thinger.
First 2 charge/drain cycles were yesterday (got around 5.5 hours as has been normal for the last 2 weeks) and after the second drain to 1% I plugged in AC and went to bed. This morning I checked Battery Monitor (not the Beta or paid, so I'm aware the mA reading may be incorrect/offset on Sensation).
The graph overnight shows some odd spikes every 50 minutes draining the battery. This is the first night I've been looking at my graphs so I'm not sure if this is regular or a separate issue from my normal battery hell.
I've included a screenshot of everything I could think of including Battery Monitor and SetCPU profiles. Re running apps, some I've never run before, the only other one on the 2nd page was Thumb Keyboard.
I would really appreciate some ideas on my battery life in general, and what this issue is in particular.
Background:
- Horrible battery problems with my Sensation on stock Sense, Miui.us and now with HyperSensation ROM-CM7.1 with kernel faux123v0.2.3r.
- Been getting around 5-6 hours with normal use, no 3G, no wifi, no GPS, no Bluetooth, low screen brightness, etc etc.
- I also uninstalled Gallery as I was getting the sensor usage issue which I thought may be causing my battery woes, but no dice yet.
- I prefer to keep data on at all times (2G) as that's what I use my phone for, so I don't use this Juice Defender function.
Thanks,

How did you calibrate your battery? Did you..
Flash Rom
Kill battery to 0%
Charge fully 100% then wipe battery stats? Or did you wipe battery stats as you flashed? Thy could be a major problem
Also you have CPU your max set to 1.56ghz when its charged. That could cause the peak in usage. Especially if you have it set to performance and not ondemand. Those are the only two things that's really stand out to me.
Also check the arhd thread. In one of the last pages (depending on when you get this) there is a link for a fix on battery drain on fauxs latest kernel. Check it out
Thanks rddocke, I will check out the kernel fix. I did wipe, flash rom and reset the battery stats at the same time. I will definitely try your method, I didn't realise I had it upside-down.
As for the spikes, they seem to be continuing today, I can post screenshots later. Given that the major battery user is "Adnroid System", would this narrow my issue down to the built in apps?
On the plus side, with the new setup today on my 3rd battery cycle, I am getting better battery life than before aside from the spikes.
ya the spikes could be do to an auto update, maybe background sync... any things could cause it as long as it isnt a constant high usage i wouldnt worry about it. but if you want to help your situation i would set back my cpu max to 19200 when charging, and clock back to 1.2 for daily use, switch your goveners to ondemand and get them off performance.
basically whatever its doing at those times its running at the highest point your cpu can handle. adjusting wont solve your problem but it will reduce the amount of battery it uses
idk its hard to tell android system is always going to be the juicer, that and sense. nonsense for arhd could help you out too. i particularly like sense tho
hope i helped

I'll change these settings as well, great. I feel like I'm getting somewhere gradually, been spinning my wheels for a week on this.
I can't 'thank' you for some reason, but my buddy should have just done it, which is fair since I can finally pester him less about my battery problems and pester other XDA members instead!
No problem buddy glad I could give you some help. Let me know what you discover from all that. Another tip I could give is maybe test out a bricked kernel 1.4rs or 0.91 seem to be working best with sense 3.0 from what I've read
Hi. I'm having a problem. The wifi is draining my battery. My battery will only last about 4 hours of screen on time.
I've already check the power option of disabling wifi when the screen is off. Wifi drains at least 40%of the charge.
I've read other forums but nobody has an answer just yet. I really like this tablet, but it makes me mad just having 4 hours of battery.
Driver problem, an app misbehaving, hardware problem?
What can I do? What should I do? How many of you are having this issue?

Depending on your usage, it is indeed possible to drain battery 3-4 hours. I myself never had that situation but for those who played highly CPU/GPU intensive game along with WIFI had that issue. I usually had 5-6 hours on my routine use which to me seems was not much.
So couple things I believe you should look into.
1. How is your monitor brightness?
2. What applications are you running? e.g. are you downloading on background with playing some game foreground?
Those sort of basic things. To identify whether the WIFI is actual issue or not, one thing you can do is simply turn off the WIFI and do whatever you need for couple hours and see where you at in your battery. If you have 50% drained in couple hours without WIFI on, clearly WIFI is not the issue but if you suddenly get only 20% battery drain from WIFI off, it is indeed the WIFI.
If WIFI is indeed the issue and perhaps you can try Juice Defender but it will only save battery if you are not using WIFI all the time.
For detail, please refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805636.
One last thing is obvious, but battery save mode rather than balance mode gave me extra couple hours without sacrifice in my foreground application performance; however, I did notice main screen page swiping or application launch animation weren't as smooth. Almost felt like back to my old Galaxy 10.1 tablet on Honeycomb.
There is actually a bug that makes your battery overview show the percentage of wifi on time as percentage of wifi battery consumption:
-> wifi on 80% of time > shows 80% of power consumption from wifi.
How long do you have your device ?
When i first got it I also thought that the battery time was bad but now ( i have had it for about a week) i get battery drain of 10% / hr while surfing and 14-18 %/hr while streaming video over wifi and 0,5-1% / hr while standby with wifi and sync on.
I have the brightness on manual contorl and when i watch video i change the performance to eco setting.
Hi, thank you for your responses..... This is an update of what is going on.
I am already on firmware. 26, but had the problems since fw. 22
Yesterday I did a factory reset to rule out some mysterious app. The battery issue continued under wifi.
Wifi was still draining between 40 and 50% of the battery. Completely drained in about 4 hours of browsing time in balanced mode and about 40% screen brightness.
I just did another test. I played 2 movies with the wifi off. After 4 hours of screen on time the battery fell to 66%. So the tablet have enough battery juice for 12 back to back movies. That's great, I can rule out the battery.
So far I can confirm that the battery is draining extremely fast with wifi and is not a big showing erroneous battery drain.
4 hours of browsing tine is a joke for a tablet...
Any other things you think I can try?
For how long have you had it? No matter what people say, the calibration algorithms for these kinds of batteries still need several cycles of charging and discharging before they can actually read out any battery level accurately. I easily go for far longer than that on my device -- not that that fact helps you out, I know -- but I thought battery life was worse in he beginning as well. I guess it just needs to settle down a bit. Give it a week.
EIDT: Oh, and....eeehmmmmm.... do not believe the standard Android battery tool. Get yer mitts on BetterBatteryStats and get a few cycles on it, check the readouts and then report back in.

Thanks. I've already installed better battery stats.. While Web browsing battery drains up to 30%/h. I know is too soon to get to a conclusion. I will keep you post it.
Hope there is some firmware update that will fix this. This is Asus 5th tablet (transformer, prime, slider, tf300) I don't want a beta product!
Sorry about the whining, I know that you guys are helping me..
Battery life is really bad on this we need the motley kernel and some custom rooms soon !!!
I am running this tablet on performance and it is still very slow ccompared to my prime I hoped I can wait for the custom rooms and kernels before I sell this tablet i know i am very impatient
i have a tf700 too and have the same problem on wifi I love this tablet, i think we need to find a fix. Hope to hear from some of the smart people on this forum.
The reason for the low battery is this; Asus did not put a larger battery in Infinity compared to Prime.
Both devices have the exact same battery, but since Infinity runs at a higher clock speed and has a higher resolution screen, it drains the battery much much faster.
You can't really fix this with software. You can however lower the voltage with a custom kernel, making slightly improvement....but that'll also make the device unstable.
Just to let you guys know, i have assigned a fixed ip address for my Tf700 and the wifi drain seems to have decreased. I won't rely on the native android battery monitor (mine still says 85% battery drain by wifi). But i have noticed much less actually drain/hour when using wifi with a fixed ip address than not. YMMV.
Hey guys,
I'm a new Nexus 5 owner and I come from the HTC One S (which is known for a terrible battery). Although, my battery on the Nexus 5 is even worse compared to my setup on the HTC One S. With light use, I'm glad to get around 10-12 hours of it.
Is it worth rooting battery wise? I mean, are there roms / kernals that significantly improve battery life? I'm no gamer, but I do browse and use social media apps..
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Flash another kernel or rom will not obviously improve your battery life. Battery life depends mainly of your use, apps, settings (like screen brightness, synchro), data signal quality, etc... and even more the rom has nothing to do with your battery life.
For example if you have an app with a ton of wakelocks, flashing another kernel or another rom will not do better... You use social media apps, in general the battery drain can come from them.
Maybe in first you should identify the cause of your battery drain, no? Post your battery history for example and use Better Battery Stats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809.

Good signal quality?
Screen brightness?
Synchro?
Etc...
That extrapolates to almost 4 hours sot. That's not bad. Franco kernel can probably get you a bit more.

Those two things plus turning off the "Ok Google" may help. Also do you have the camera battery usage bug?

You can check how much battery life your device has left by doing one of the following options:
Use Quick Settings or View the battery graph.
However root manually if possible because rooting itself doesn't change battery life at all. Bettery life generally depends on our Apps that we are using on our Smart phones.
Roms / Kernals will not improve your battery life.
Hi there,
I bought my one plus a month ago, and am getting around 3.5 screen time.
It is disappointing as I see screenshots of people with one plus who are getting 6 -10 hours screen time.
I am on battery saver mode, not using music, whatsApp, wase games or facebook, just a little bit email and browsing.
At night it is not going down a lot, but when I start using the phone, it goes down quite quickly.
(1 percent every 2 minutes, sometimes every minute). It seems to get worse every day.
If I start using GPS or video or music, my battery will be finished by noon.
I replaced the battery, and it is the same.
Attached three screenshots. (Including the night)
Help please?
Thank you!
I share you the same feeling when I see others having impressive battery performance specially screen-on time.
I have exactly the same drain behavior of yours, when my phone in deep sleep its sleep like a baby. but when I wake it its become beast awakening.
I run 3g when I am out and wi-fi at home, also running regular apps, whatsapp,snapchat,2emails,1gmail,instagram,web browsing, auto brightness, greenify. I checked with BBS and WLD but no culprit. I am on stock rom with root for the apps, no system tuning.
So you can see my setup is like most of regular users will do but noticeable difference in term of battery performance. I have no clue
Your battery life is fine, better mine
Who has a lot of SOT usually doesn't turn off/on the screen that much. The secret to achieve a lot of SOT is making long session on the screen (and having few apps, like you). So no worries I'm at 64% now with 1 hour of SOT, but I flash updates (CM 12) everyday and wake up the phone only when I need it, with 1-2 minutes sessions.

Horrible! I have to charge it twice a day, and I barely use it.
I have no root, am not using any of the apps, only a little bit of browsing, and checking mails.
If I try to use waze for a half of an hour or a little bit of music (max 30min, I get only about 2 hours screen time!
It seems really poor from a brand new battery.
I have no clue what to do, or what is causing it. If anyone have suggestions, i will be glad to hear!
Are you using the stock OPO rom? because I always had a poor battery life, I had all kind of protections to keep battery life but when I saw, from 100 I had 70, it was awful, one solution I saw was to flash one custom kernel, somehow improved my battery life, but the final solution was to use a custom rom, I have experienced better battery life with 5+ roms rather than the ones with 4.x.x, maybe you should taste another android flavor and check if the battery life increases
How hard was it to change the battery? Was it soldered? Where did you get a replacement ?

Hi,
Thanks for your comment.
Sorry, I don't understand much in roms ... I bought the chinese version color os, and changed it in fast boot to cm11.
My cm version is 11.0-xnph44s , android version-4.4.4
I believe this is app related. Some apps keep phones awake. I encountered this problem with my S3 because I have lots of apps. But since I made sure I only install apps I absolutely need in my oneplus, I get a fantastic battery life.

I don't have so many apps , and I installed all of them. I keep closing apps that are running on the background through the settings.
The funny thing is that it is getting worse every day.
Now my battery is going down one percent in 30-60 seconds!
I don't know what to do anymore.
