Hey,
I have Samsung Galaxy S 3.
My phone was running with jelly beans but it was troubling me in charging. It was taking more than 20 hours to charge till 100%.
I downgraded it to Ice cream sandwich last month with the help of Odin with appropriate version file,The process was successful.
The phone was working fine Suddenly yesterday the phone got a " White Screen with Grey lines over it".
Even i tried restarting it but dint work, same screen appears.
Only the download mode screen is working .Recovery mode screen doesn't work.
I tried again with Odin to re install the software but it shows FAIL message. It shows no pit partition found.
Please help me with solution will my phone work again or not............
Please help me.
I have the same problem
Did you fix it? I have the same issue sudenly my phone just showed the withe screen with grey lines, but I can go to the download mode screen.
Help Please!

No,I could not fix it my own tried a lot, even my phone was going in download mode.
I gave it in some service center he said it should be J-Tagged.
I don't know exactly what does it mean.
Hope i would get back my phone well and good.
I have the same issue, I went to Samsung's Live Chat and they were completely dumbfounded by it. No chance you haven't had any luck with it? Odin just gets stuck on it, well for the past 6 hours I've been trying different methods.
thank god, i thought i was the only one.. anyone have any ideas?
I am also facing same issue. Anybody ???
have u guyz tried to go back to stock rom via odin?
Sent from my Canvas 2 using xda premium
Took mine in to a phone repair shop, if your phones in good condition, you should send it into Samsung under warranty. If it's screen cracked or anything like that, it won't be covered. But it basically needs to be J-Tagged, which is pretty annoying. It's not something that can be fixed with Odin.
For anyone else with this problem. This is a hardware problem. As far as I know, the EMMC chip is busted. You can google the cause, there are multiple reasons. The solution is to replace the broken EMMC chip, or preferably, get a whole new board.
To ensure this does not happen to you, read all samsung updates thoroughly, especially concerning kernel upgrades, as poor kernel coding can crash the NAND resistors in the EMMC. Upgrade frequently.
The best solution is to get an S4, as far as I know, they don't have this problem.
So replacing the entire motherboard should solve the problem..right? I was about to dump my old s3.

Looks like kernel panic. If your PC doesn't recognize your phone prior to using Odin to get back to stock, take the battery out for a few minutes and try again or use heimdall

1. Go here and download a stock rom to install on your captivate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
Instructions on how to do that are on this page. I suggest going for 2.3.5 gingerbread I897UCKJ3...with bootloaders, then flash the kernel with CWM which is what you use to install other roms.
2. If you are not happy with Gingerbread, and want to get ICS or other custom roms, go here and read up on how to install a new rom over stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350266
Actually, do read up on both stickies to have a better idea of the flashing process. I didn't know a damn thing about flashing 3 weeks ago, and now I've been flashing roms, kernels and modems without any problems. Just make sure to read everything carefully before doing anything. As for which rom is best...well, that's up to you to try and pick out which one is best for you.
Good luck.

Thank you very much 4-2ndtwin , you are a very professional man.

my JIG, my winner
Damn Bricks!
Bricked my phone a few times and fixed it OK until i ran into the "ICS RESET PHONE" bug
Now the only way to fix is by tricking the phone into thinking the external sd card is the inernal sdcard....ADB SDK AVD...three big acronyms for IM SCREWED!
Or am I?
Found some people over at mobiletechvideos to apply the Unbrickable MOD created by Adam Outler (Genius of sorts).
Also they can provide someting called JTAG for very reasonable prices... that is unless you know you can fix it yourself. Which unfortunately I cant right now
or I would just because I know its possible, just not for me..right now.
I think its really sad that the only software to really screw up my phone ICS
was my favorite of all. I hope all is fixed when I get my Unbrickable phone back I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!

U need a Jig to get ur phone in download mode and then u can flash a Stock Firmware through Odin or Heimdall to get ur phone going again.
If u r on a pc, look in my signature link below. There are links there on how to make a jig or where to buy one.

Hello guys,
I just found an issue and maybe is a kernel-related one. Battey drained crazily(more than 30%) during the last several hours when I was asleep. I checked the statistics in Betterbatterystats and found that "L2_hsic" kept my phone awake for over 7 hous. (ROM: 4.0.4 Austria , kernel: XXLQ9 )
And this issue was also found in other Samsung devices like Galaxy Note. Here I learnt that it might be due to some codes in kernel.
Please check this out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656705
Maybe our devs can kindly help to remove or modify the codes in the kernel or find other solutions. Thank you so much!

Yes, it is a known bug in other devices as well.
Simply shutdown the phone, pull out the battery, re-insert and reboot. The problem will be gone!
Also, try not to detach your USB cable when phone screen is off. Always screen on the phone, go to your home screen, and unplug your USB. This could help to prevent the l2_hsic wakelock problem

Well...thanks for your reply. Actually I flashed ardatdat's latest kernel before but something weird happened, by which I mean it always said that my tf card had been removed. Then I flashed stock kernel XXLQ9 and had it solved. And I just don't know whom I should PM and how many people I should PM before I get this solved. Plus I also wanna know if there's any similar issue like this in our forum because I just searched but found no such post. So I started a new thread. Sorry if I bother you guys.

Thank you ardatdat. I reboot my phone then it's gone. Before this I never paid attention to whether it's awake or not and it seemed nothing special happened. But maybe I should always wake up my phone and then make it discharged from now on. Can this issue be fixed in kernel? Or already fixed in your kernel? Hope I didn't ask for too much.

I feel like a noob but am completely stumpped at this moment. Trying the kdz method to downgrade to Jul Baseband. Ive tried everything. Even whipped up a WinXP machine on VMWare, as the upgrade app crashes on Win7 without fail. Phone gets seen, kdz unpacks, starts process, at the point where the Pc starts disconnecting /connecting phone I get stuck at param 3053 everytime. But the phone doesn't brick. Everything stays as it was so I'm wondering if the problem may be an issue with my kdz download.
Someone who has successfully downgraded please post a downgrade reference.

I heard the same thing regarding the V21E_00_01 being T-Mobile G2x (or at least DW model) specific but don't know much more than that. That's the one I used and it worked perfectly. We're in the same boat... I'd be interested in finding out if there is a difference and what it could be too.

So if it goes thru with no flaws than I'd say

Unless the gut who gave it to you have the EFS folder backed up. Suggestion: RTS (Return To Sender), obviously he forgot what Dhiru said before flash Alpha 4:'Backed up your EFS folder just in case you lost your IMEI'. Its almost impossible to lost your IMEI on stock unless you deleted the EFS folder, which is a very stupid move, LoL.

Hey there, a few hours back, i tried rooting my galaxy s6 using chainfare's root method, link below:
Link wont get added, it is in ibntimesdotcodotuk
Now, i am stuck at the boot screen, it wont start, cant even remove the battery because now it longer has removable batteries, i did go trough a few articles asking me to get into recovery mode by pressing 3 buttons after i switch off the device, the device wont switch off in the first place, how can i fix this? anyone ;(
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. You're probaly going to have to flash the stock firmware with odin. But I'm not sure it's even available yet. I'm going to move your thread here where you may get some help, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help
Hello,
Can you give some more details -
What version of SGS6 are you using? Edge or standard?
Can you remember what firmware version you were on?
And what file did you flash?
Check out the sgs6 chainfire thread here where i read about some others that had got stuck in a boot loop and needed to either update their odin version or chainfires new root.

I had the same problem yesterday. I flashed my original firmware which I got from sammobile.com (I got the "Netherlands" version for the G950F). Tried the latest version today after Chainfire said he updated it. Worked like a charm. So:
1. Got stuck at boot screen
2. Went back into download mode
3. Flashed original firmware from sammobile.com
4. Root using latest autoroot and Odin 3.10.6.
Good luck!

I'm from The Netherlands and used the Odin included in the download from Chainfire's website.
Oh I see. Thanks
Hi I'm in the same boat, my problem is I can't get it back into download mode. I can hold down the vol down and power to reboot it, but nothing else.
Question answered. Thread closed.

i am sorry about the delayed response, as i was going through blogs for a fix, i finally found the magician who tried every file that was available in the list, i did the same, i tried flashing other versions, like one for the s6 edge, and a few others , i don't remember which one,but one worked fine and that problem is solved, i had the s6, standard, SM-g920f, now i have another issue for which i am trying to unroot now. the camera goes blurred fo a few seconds to sometimes over a minute, i realised its a manufactoring defect and i am not alone, saw youtube videos of people complaining the same and replacing it, now i am going for that.. Thank you all for the help.

i got it done with some other version available in the same chainfare website then, but what you told here, i am doing it now, as i have issues with camera (so many has it, out of focus for the first 30-40 seconds) and needs to get it replaced. hopefully, they wont find out my s6 were rooted once, fingers crossed
