[q] tried rooting my galaxy s6 using chainfare's method, stuck at boot screen :( - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there, a few hours back, i tried rooting my galaxy s6 using chainfare's root method, link below:
Link wont get added, it is in ibntimesdotcodotuk
Now, i am stuck at the boot screen, it wont start, cant even remove the battery because now it longer has removable batteries, i did go trough a few articles asking me to get into recovery mode by pressing 3 buttons after i switch off the device, the device wont switch off in the first place, how can i fix this? anyone ;(

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. You're probaly going to have to flash the stock firmware with odin. But I'm not sure it's even available yet. I'm going to move your thread here where you may get some help, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help

Hello,
Can you give some more details -
What version of SGS6 are you using? Edge or standard?
Can you remember what firmware version you were on?
And what file did you flash?
Check out the sgs6 chainfire thread here where i read about some others that had got stuck in a boot loop and needed to either update their odin version or chainfires new root.

I had the same problem yesterday. I flashed my original firmware which I got from sammobile.com (I got the "Netherlands" version for the G950F). Tried the latest version today after Chainfire said he updated it. Worked like a charm. So:
1. Got stuck at boot screen
2. Went back into download mode
3. Flashed original firmware from sammobile.com
4. Root using latest autoroot and Odin 3.10.6.
Good luck!

I'm from The Netherlands and used the Odin included in the download from Chainfire's website.

Oh I see. Thanks

Hi I'm in the same boat, my problem is I can't get it back into download mode. I can hold down the vol down and power to reboot it, but nothing else.

Question answered. Thread closed.

i am sorry about the delayed response, as i was going through blogs for a fix, i finally found the magician who tried every file that was available in the list, i did the same, i tried flashing other versions, like one for the s6 edge, and a few others , i don't remember which one,but one worked fine and that problem is solved, i had the s6, standard, SM-g920f, now i have another issue for which i am trying to unroot now. the camera goes blurred fo a few seconds to sometimes over a minute, i realised its a manufactoring defect and i am not alone, saw youtube videos of people complaining the same and replacing it, now i am going for that.. Thank you all for the help.

i just re-rooted my phone from stock, testing the Unroot now
Edit: it seems unroot didnt work, though like mentioned above you would only want to unroot incase of hardware issue or you want t replace the phone wit T-Mo, but thats all good now cause i posted a working Odin image earlier.
So cwm doesn't work for the sidekick 4g

First off thank you for the easy root But now I have an issue, the SD card wont work, looks like it wont find the extension anyone know how to fix this? Ive used many different card and none read but I know all work. Without this I cant do a ROM
Try reformatting the card? Did they work before you rooted? do they work again if you unroot?
They worked before the root, I didn't unroot yet. When you out then in the phone and go to the SD card setting it shows nothing. Just says unavailable. So I can't even format it on the phone. I've formatted them in many ways on the pc too
HTC EVO = my best friend
did you try pulling out the sdcard and putting it back in? does it show a blank sdcard, or no sdcard at all?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 got frozen with white screen grey lines

Hey,
I have Samsung Galaxy S 3.
My phone was running with jelly beans but it was troubling me in charging. It was taking more than 20 hours to charge till 100%.
I downgraded it to Ice cream sandwich last month with the help of Odin with appropriate version file,The process was successful.
The phone was working fine Suddenly yesterday the phone got a " White Screen with Grey lines over it".
Even i tried restarting it but dint work, same screen appears.
Only the download mode screen is working .Recovery mode screen doesn't work.
I tried again with Odin to re install the software but it shows FAIL message. It shows no pit partition found.
Please help me with solution will my phone work again or not............
Please help me.
I have the same problem
Did you fix it? I have the same issue sudenly my phone just showed the withe screen with grey lines, but I can go to the download mode screen.

No,I could not fix it my own tried a lot, even my phone was going in download mode.
I gave it in some service center he said it should be J-Tagged.
I don't know exactly what does it mean.
Hope i would get back my phone well and good.
I have the same issue, I went to Samsung's Live Chat and they were completely dumbfounded by it. No chance you haven't had any luck with it? Odin just gets stuck on it, well for the past 6 hours I've been trying different methods.
thank god, i thought i was the only one.. anyone have any ideas?
I am also facing same issue. Anybody ???
have u guyz tried to go back to stock rom via odin?
Sent from my Canvas 2 using xda premium
Took mine in to a phone repair shop, if your phones in good condition, you should send it into Samsung under warranty. If it's screen cracked or anything like that, it won't be covered. But it basically needs to be J-Tagged, which is pretty annoying. It's not something that can be fixed with Odin.
For anyone else with this problem. This is a hardware problem. As far as I know, the EMMC chip is busted. You can google the cause, there are multiple reasons. The solution is to replace the broken EMMC chip, or preferably, get a whole new board.
To ensure this does not happen to you, read all samsung updates thoroughly, especially concerning kernel upgrades, as poor kernel coding can crash the NAND resistors in the EMMC. Upgrade frequently.
The best solution is to get an S4, as far as I know, they don't have this problem.
So replacing the entire motherboard should solve the problem..right? I was about to dump my old s3.

Yeah don't go to my threads without looking what forum they're in. I have stuff from s4, s5, sm-g360t, g530t, and A700f. Only thing I have for yall is the trap kernel.
SM-G360T = Tmobile
SM-G360T1 = MetroPCS
Unfortunately I don't even own the device, and I deleted the stock boot.img from my AFH. @bogarty might have one tho. I'm with family right now and not able to pull it for you.
I do however have the stock firmware on AFH if you want a speedy download.

Yes. Just make sure you've updated to the newest firmware. In "Settings/About Device" baseband should say "G360T1UVU1AOFA". Then just go to @ShinySide's root thread and follow the instructions for root. Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62859013

You should try downloading & reflashing the stock firmware in Odin for your specific device model. It's been known to do a true factory reset of the device, which resets the FRP. Just go to:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Search your model number #, click on the most recent firmware in the list, download it and follow the
instructions at the bottom of the download page to flash in Odin.
Also, don't use King Root if at all possible. It's been known to cause security issues in some devices. Just Google "XDA (your device model ) root" & see if there's a better option. Good luck!

A quick guide on how to get past the FRP sync-with-the-old-account screen.
- Download and install Samsung's sidesync
- Connect your device on the same wifi network as is your computer
- Device will prompt you to use a browser - chose the default one 'Internet'
- Use the browser to download http://www.unlocksamsungonline.nl/setting.apk, to access the file go to bookmarks>history>download history>setting.apk == install and run it.
- Go to backup & recovery and choose factory reset (If it will ask you for a password, go back and go to 'Security' and setup a lockscreen password and then try again with that password)
- Wait for the reset
- You should be able to get past the sync screen now and FRP should be OFF.
Hope this helps.
I am trying to root my device for the first time (G360T1). I used the full firmware posted earlier in the thread. Then tried to use trapkernel via odin. But ev ery time I try I get a message on the screen of the phone saying "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock". Whats the work around here. I thought flashing to the earlier firmware postedx in this thread would fix it, but apparently not.
Thanks in advance.

I have found a much shorter route to get back from MM. Flash an LP Rom and supported kernel in custom recovery and be good to go. If you want to go completely stock but boot into recover and do a full wipe and then Odin the stock tar.

I think all he did was odin the MM, odin recovery and then flashed a kernel. After that he wiped data and system, he installed a lollipop rom and a kernel respectively through twrp. I'm gonna try it lol
Hopefully we get a better signal booster from the modem
yeah don't do that, endless bootloop

I always do a full wipe before I change any rom or firmware levels.

I just woke up and got it, too. Anyone found any info on this baseband update? Google has proven useless on this occasion.

Of course it wouldn't be Marshmallow, the international version hasn't gotten it yet. They got this version about a week and a half ago, so good on TMo for being so quick. The international version mentioned better memory optimization, so I hope that made it in.

Shows security patch now. Little smoother too.
It is a lot smoother. Hopefully it helps with battery life as well. 4.20hrs SOT is not the business.
Anyone managed to root this version yet? Thanks

yes you can use this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64161125&postcount=3
this retains stock kernel so no having to deal with any weird issues. all you need to do is odin twrp/philz and then flash the supersu zip.
Anyone have a list of the changes? I want to know if they finally fixed the keyboard lag I have with every keyboard stock or 3rd party.

just need to odin OKC and factory reset. after you do that add a custom recovery (philz or twrp-- if you use twrp you have to odin it twice in a row to make it stuck) then just flash the supersu beta, systemless root i think its version 64 now and youre golden

Go into settings>about>tap build number till you have developer mode enabled. Once enabled go into and turn on oem unlock. Then do the process I stated in the previous posts and you'll be golden.

Thanks so much for your help
Anyone else having an issue with the left corner no longer working after the update. I can't slide down the navigation bar from the left top corner anymore or press back when I have Facebook or other apps open.
