[Q] 3D Function not working - LG Optimus 3D

Hi, I have a p920 working fine, and I recently bought another p920 to my sister.. but that phone got a problem, the 3d feature doesn´t work well, the 2 images get overlaped, getting a double image mixed in the screen, this is happening with any 3d feature in the phone (games, camera, images, videos, etc). It is like a 3d tv without glasses, all blurry
I don´t know what can cause that, I tried a hard reset, and nothing happened.
I can´t find any kind of 3d setup inside the phone either.
Any clue??
Thank you

Thanks for your reply,
but that´s just for the camera option, like I said I got that problem with any 3d feature (videos.games, galleries, etc), I just got one plane mixed with the both images, and that is not working with the camera either

ohh sorry, i see what you mean. but that isnt solving the problem, i never see any deepness in the picture, just 2 images overlaped, like the 3d function is disabled, the same way you can see a 3d tv or a 3d cinema without the glasses on, 2 images overlaped without any deep at all

hi, GB.. without any custom rom, just the official gb

Bummer, it sounds like a bad screen, or someone broke the old one and replaced it with a standard LCD. Or a factory mistake.
Can you return it or get a replacement from LG?

that´s what i´m affraid, maybe a disconnected cable in the inside?
I bough it from ebay, I can return it to the seller and get a new one but that will take a month until it gets to his hand and another month until the new cellphone gets to mine, so im trying to solve it by myself first.
Never hear about this problem before? because i google it and couldnt find anyone with the same problem

No, that's odd. My guess is the seller bought it broken and replaced the screen with a standard one. I would think if something is not connected it would not work at all.
IDEA: ask forum member "Dr. Mario." He's sharp on things like this.

thanks my friend, i will

Standard LCD - most replacement LCDs doesn't come with ceramic plate (3D barrier). But, the ceramic plate can be shoehorned onto any LCD or possibly OLED screens as far as I am concerned.
Also, if present, check the thin ribbon cable leading to ceramic plate's driver chip (probably 7 pins ribbon cable) and reseat it on the motherboard.
If you ever find a dead P920 3D phone that's to be parted out, you probably can discombulate it for 3D screen - if it's untouched, good chance is that will still have intact LCD with original ceramic plate still on it. Try ebay.

thanks for the info man!
I don´t have the proper tools to full disassemble the phone, but i will get it in the next few days and come back here to tell what i found.
really apreciate your time!

If you don't know what's missing, go ahead and take picture of motherboard - you don't have to take it out - just leave it inside and I will know which plug's missing and will be able to say if it have 3D barrier ceramic plate or not. If you already have taken it apart, you can go ahead and take picture of LCD.

Try This: watch a video in gallery turn 3d on , then push settings button and 3 settings should come up Brightness ,screen ratio and 3D format or something like that I dont know how its in your language. If you click the 3D format there will be 4 settings I believe you are on 3rd it looks really weird . try it im not sure

Camera issue

Hello, I have recently noticed that my phone (HTC TP, ROM 1.90.404.1) takes odd pictures, I think it has something to do with the frequency and/or intensity of the light that comes from the object you're taking a picture of.
I have added a photo that I took, in the picture you see a lamp aimed at the ceiling. Note the weird colors.
I only have this problem with the 3.2 MP camera on the back, the camera on the front of the device is fine. Now I didn't buy the phone for it's camera quality, so it doesn't bother me that much. But I'm still curious.
Does anyone know whats going on?
regardles if you bought it for the camera function or not.
the camera function is on youre phone and it should work.
looks like youre camera doesnt work goed, so if it was my phone, i brought it back for repair.
Bump.
E-mailed HTC via the support site, waiting for a reply.
I don't want to have to hard reset
Anyone got any ideas?
This is probably a faulty device. I'd return it.
The photo looks normal to me
Did you store any kind of mind-driving / psychidelic substances near your Touch Pro?
Well a hard reset did not fix it.
I suppose I'll start looking into the return policy/warranty while I wait for a reply from HTC.
OK well another update.
The good news is I figured out what is causing it.
The problem is the IR filter or rather lack thereof. I asked around and someone told me I should aim a remote control at the lens, press buttons and see what happens. Well I see a nice bright flash on my screen whenever I press a button
Now how to fix it. I think placing a simple IR-filter in front of the lens might do the trick.
Looks like the hardware is fine.

This is not your problem. ALL digital cameras do the same 'trick', even my 12 MegaPixel super Olympus i've just got. I've even used this behavior to help fix a broken remote a few years back.

[Q] Screen problem!Please help:'(

Hello everyone.A few hours ago I received my lg optimus 3d from a local store.
After rooting with your great tutorials and istalling liquidbeats 3 custom rom I noticed that problem:
When the font is bright white(for example when in dolphin browser at the google search main page) there is a very very light yellow color(like an old white clothe) at the botom of the screen in the center. It is very small and very lightly coloured but I couldn't help noticing it.Is there a problem with my phone or every lg optimus 3d works that way?Could it be a rom problem?
Also if it helps the colors are normal when every other color is displayed in that area(even when some not so bright white is displayed eg. a white rose pic).
Please hepl me and please please check yours with dolphin browser to see if that occurs to you too. Please I am freaked out.I just bought the phone to replace my stolen optimus black.
I forgot to mention that I dowloaded a screen test programm from play named screen test. You can download it and check it(in the first font it can be seen when youn open the programm but again I say it is very light) if you wish to help.
Thank you everyone and sorry for my English
I think I know what you are saying. It shouldn't be there, well its not on mine. This things happen when someone/something press and holds the screen/lcd to hard say you left your phone in your pocket and sit on it. I seen this on HTC HD 2.
I did checked my phone and its clear as snow white snow

Mate thank you very very much. You've been very helpful. It wasn't like the one you described if I got it right.I used to have HD2(awesome phone btw) I it was severely wounded the pocket way you described but what I described concerning the O3D was much much lighter than the mark which is created on an lcd by hard pressing it.
Anyway,I flashed the stock rom(V21A,from factory it had V10N if I'not mistaken) an everything's fixed. It should be a kernel problem or something that I've done wrong(most probably) so everything is ok now and I'm the happiest drunken thrasher in my city
I'll try to re-root it and read more carefully the splendid guides our friends here in XDA have made.
By the way do you have any rom to suggest me?Something fast and stable?
Thnx again pal.Have a nice weekend
ps I think I hit the thank button. In case I've done even that wrong please tell me
First off the the screen is made of a Gorilla Glass which means that it's not plastic and it can't touch the display.
Other thing is that the screen is actually yellowish, you can experiment by holding the phone near a super white screen, it can be because of the contrast who knows.
But if you fixed your issue with a ROM change which is wierd then great.

I was have the same problem with pictures (gray). I've renamed "DCIM" and "Camera" folders in SDCard for backup it, and pictures now works fine. Maybe you should try it, before do some hardware things .
Good luck! Hope you get it fixed. This thread belongs to the Q&A section, this isn't android development is it?

If you already identified the component and have the necessary equipment (the thinnest solder iron and tweezer that you can find, as well as steady hands), all that's left is a good luck, man.

I HAVE TRIED THAT NO LUCK ahhahah and i know that i broke my board part so i only need to se which part it is and now i knoc couse my face front cam is working and camcoder also but primary cam wont save pic and there say that those broken pieces are for primary cam so i ONLY need to solder them back if some one have some god advice please write it down
Just solder them with a fine tip on a 15/30w soldering iron. Done it a few times, SMD components are small, but not impossible. Have something to hold the component down and a magnifying glass will help.

How about this:
Take a piece of copper wire about 1mm in diameter.
Wrap it around the soldering iron end.
Wait until it heats up enough.
Now you have your own micro-soldering iron!

You really shouldn't be playing around with the motherboard if you aren't 100% sure what you're doing. But seeing as you already have, the best bet would be try contacting Samsung and if if they'll fix it under warranty. Just be sure not to say that YOU messed with it. Just put everything back to where it was and make it look like you didn't open it or touch it. I just got mine back from warranty for a faulty motherboard so I know they can replace it easy.
Good luck,

[Q] mt4gs wont turn on vibrates once

hello all looked every where seen similar ? but know answers any where .....have mt4gs that wont turn on just vibrates once was having problems with screen stuff looked distorted rainbow colored or screen not responding would have play with phone like slide keyboard in and out to get working again .....couldnt get to work pulled out battery put back in wouldnt start up.......same thing happen to the one before that similar prob still have it does same thing vibrates once........from what i gather from other posts is it might be flex cable have it apart flex cable looks fine ...would i be able to see if flex cable is messed up......... could it just be something came loose.......these are both factory oem no mods ...
If it's still under any kind of warranty I'd send it back with a note to quit returning the same phone to you. If you CAN send it, put a small indelible mark under the battery so you can check. If it's NOT covered you could theoretically fix it yourself if you're "electronics repair" inclined but it's not for the faint of heart....i.e., not easy.
If they try to SELL you another, you can get them on Ebay for half of what they'll try to sell you one for. For what they'll try to sell you one for, you can buy a Nexus 4 from google that's unlocked.....with enough change to take your GF out for a nice meal. A REALLY nice meal.
no warranty , not new to electronic repair or modding ....have two of these phone dont want to throw them out ..especially if it only needs and 18 dollar flex cable ...which would be cheaper than buying any used phone....... trying to find some info first so i dont waste money on flex cable for no reason ...ps phone is totally apart..........i think phone is turning on but nothing happens with screen and screen was buuging out when stopped working both times on both phones ..... any ideas thanx
Look at all the videos first.....

I just rebuilt my Slide (bought a new one that had a bad M/B on eBay for $65)--I tried to replace the digitizer & ended up breaking the LCD screen...The flex cable is between the LCD & the screen back mount....so it's not the easiest job.......Do yourself a favor & check out all the video on youtube first.
not a problem ..phones apart ...got skillz..... just looking for info ....i can take apart and put back together just about anything thats not the problem.ive done digi's ,broken screens, flex cables, power and volume buttons............ ive heard of this problem before just want to make sure i have the right solution ...so i dont buy the wrong part thank you
ps ...please no more posts about how hard it is.....
He does have a point, this phone is a pain in the ass compared to most, I too have disassembled many phones used to have a side business repair phones, and this was is possibly the biggest pain when it comes to how much sticky is used.
Anyway yeah it sounds like the main flex cable and that's where I would start.

So end result fixed first one....installed new main flex cable.....and tested it powered up and works fine just have to go back and screw her all together...was pain in the ass at the point where you need to separate lcd from slide housing but well worth will do another one tomorrow ....always first ones a ***** but not as hard as made to seem ......if any one needs help get at me will give pointers. will update again tomorrow
if any one has mt4gs and vibrates once and screen does not turn on its good bet its the main flex cable
same issue....

There are a few ways, usually the manufacturer is stickered on the back or product number. If you can't find this there is a line indented across the back of one and not the others
