ok so i got my NEW galaxy s4 about a week a go. just had it for one day and all the words on the screen went pink. so i went back to O2 and they give me a new one.

got the new galaxy s4 home and powered it up to see the screen going mad as hell. was flashing like mad and and lots of mad sounds coming from it. so back to O2 i went.
(Phone.3)
the man in the shop said he will open and test this one before i get it so they know it works. i said yer ok go for it. so he opened the phone and went to stick the battery in. on doing so he got an electric shock off the phone. he said well that's not right and went to get a new one.
(Phone.4)
he comes back with the new phone and starts to set it up. after about 10 mins the phone shuts off never to come back on? so now we are on
(phone.5)
everything looked ok on this one till he went to test to play back of some mp3s on my SAMSUNG class 10 64gb micro sd card. but the phone said that the card was broking and the phone would not reed it at all. he tested the card in a new Nokia and it work fine. so he opened a new micro sd card from in the shop and it said the same thing(card broke). but card works on all other phones in the shop just not in any galaxy s4.

so next phone come out. this one will not reed a 64gb card as well and if you play anything on the headphones you get lots of mad pops and cracks come out the headphone. he said well that's not right what will you like me to do now??? i said what can we do now? so he gos into the back of the shop for 5 min than come out and say we will send it away to get fixed. GET FIXED ITS JUST 3 MINS OLD!! we will send it back to SAMSUNG it will take about a week. i said ok but can we try one more please as i need my phone for work and if that don't work send them all back. he said ok last one.
(Phone.7) this phone looked to be working ok woohoo at last one that work... spoke to soon i did.... every time we went to use the camera the phone just shuts off and reboots. he then said sorry mate but we have used evey s4 in the shop and dont have any more to test the best i can do now is send them away.
whats going on SAMSUNG....... 7 galaxy s4 in under 3 days. i don't think i will be getting one now after all of this... looks like il have to go back to my IPHONE 4 what is 2 year old and has never let me down yet. just need to see what i get back in the post now. but even if this one works its going back as im sick of the dame thing.

it was the manager of the o2 shop that tested all the phones. i dont want a HTC phone. all the o2 shops next to me have had to send all of the s4 back to samsung. it was the GT-19505 16gb ones but two of them said they were gt-19505X dont know what the (x) was for tho?
Personally if this happened to me I would not even bother with the s4 I would get another phone like the HTC one, note 2, or LG Optimus G Pro.

The problem sounds like the store you went to. I could easily write the same story with the 3 iphone 4s my sister went through but we just went to a different store.
Out of one box of inventory, you probably got one that was shipped stupidly under extreme conditions and kept pulling bad batches from the same box.
Other than that, your story sounds like BS. I stopped reading after phone 3, an electric shock? Really? Yeah right. 2 posts? Uhuh... you're not even in the right section to complain about your carrier.
But if it is true, try a completely different store.

But anyway, it sounds like this shop's shipment of S4s got zapped or something in transit.
Unless a real bad batch, you must have some magnetic aura flux that kills devices, else statistically unlikely. You could be banned from flying in planes due to a magnetic aura flux. Left hand or right hand rule? That will only be got by physics or electronic oriented folks

ok, I had sent my g2x for repair due to severe backlight bleeding( the top of the screen was actually separating at the top) I send it in. two weeks later I get it back. the issue is still there and what did they repair? The sheet said they replaced the housing due to a scratch. There was not a single scratch on the phone so they repaired something that didnt need to be repaired and ignored what did. I called them up and told them everything. This time they sent me a shipping label to send it back to them. I spoke to a supervisor and they even said that my phone didnt sound like the normal bleeding and they would correct it. I send it back in.. today I get it back, screen bleeding is still there, screen seperation is still there and to make matters worse the screen now has 3 dead pixels that were not there before. What does the repair sheet say? They replaced the SD/Sim reader because it was faulty. ummm no it wasn't.. it was working perfectly before I sent it in.. I really cant believe them.. now I have to send it in for a 3rd time!!!!

If I were you I would consider reporting this to their human resources department. Most of the time the supervisors and employees of the technical department can be incompetent. I would advise you to ask for their human resources department. File a complaint that this has happened multiple times and that way human resources would have to call in those employees who keep screwing up your device's repair. Seriously, because at this point they are just bullshitting if you can send it in twice and they wont fix anything that needs to be fixed.
I keep reading these stories about faulty phones. I haven't had any problems with mine. I've flashed all the Roms on this thing and have never had any issues with reboots or anything like that. Maybe I'm just one of the Lucky ones that got one of their products that actually works.

Dude I will never purchase another LG product ever. My refrigerator is LG and guess what its faulty also, the Ice maker works when it wants to and it also reboots.
You should link up with the dude who filed the Class Action Suit against LG and have your issue added to the case as they are in breach of warranty.

Update: I didn't send it in for a 3rd time; Instead I waited for them to respond to my BBB complaint. I got a call from LG yesterday about the complaint and told them about the ordeal. She called me back today and told me they would send me a new phone. All I have to do is sign a waiver and send back the old phone (charger, battery and all) and she will next day air out a new one to me. I'm thinking this will be from their new batch(hoping it's not a refrib but dont think it will be since she wants me to send back everything). I will report back when I get the replacement.
I will be selling it when I get it anyway as I moved to sprint. True unlimited data, $125 port credit per line, True GV integration plus 23% of my monthly bill. I couldnt resist. At least I'll have a brand new g2x to sell when it comes

I got the evo 3d for me and the nexus s for my daughter. I wanted to wait until the next nexus but the 125 porting credit ended on saturday (i ordered friday hehe)
Well I switched from an iPhone 4 to the Nexus S (Nexus S is better) but I used a micro-sim adaptor but when I took it out one day it took a pin with it. I called Samsung and they said they don't do repairs like that so where in Canada can I get this repaired? I would love any advice. Thanks!

Same crap happened to me. But I guess I got a little lucky cuz only half of the pin broke off, the other half I just bent up so it would touch the sim when it was put in. Worked for me. Idk if yours came off completely or partially like mine did

Well one of the pins is shorter and one is completely missing so I guess I was not as lucky as you haha. Do you think I could take it to somewhere like Best Buy and just pay to repair it? Or will I have to go to a speciality cell phone repair place?

The person on the phone said as long as it's not physical damage they can fix it for free... which is ridiculous if you ask me because most people on this forum could fix any non-physical damage on the Nexus.
They told me to go to Rogers for some reason to get it repaired even though I said I got the phone as a gift and it was not from Rogers. I guess I'll try calling them again to see if I can get anyone more helpful.

I'd check Craigslist, there's always shops that do these kind of fixes. There's plenty here in Philly so I'm sure there're some where u are

I looked and sent out a few emails, not as many shops as I would have thought. I'm going to go to Rogers tomorrow just to see if they do fix things like this. It will surprise me if they do.

Well after a long time of playing with it I manage to get the phone to read my sim by putting strips of tin foil on the contacts on the sim card. Disappoints me that I have to do this though and now the phone has no resale value.
I just got mine spoiled after returning from a holiday I've tried putting the copper thing back in place and slotting it back but it doesn't work. Now i have to wait till tomorrow to call Samsung support in hope that they will fix it if i pay money because my device has no warranty because it is from Australia and i'm using it in Singapore. Will they accept it to fix it if i pay for the repair?
And can anyone who used aluminium foil or anything to make it work post photos or videos on how to do it? I have no experience in soldering and stuff (15 years old) and i dont know how much foil to put there. Please help me!

I had similar problem with my Nexus S. I just went to Carphonewarehouse and told them that my sim is not being registering. They have fixed it for free but it took nearly 3 week.
Sent mine to samsung on monday 21st. he said 1-3 days so tomorrow will be the 3rd day which is the 24th. Hope i receive the call to collect it tomorrow. I miss my nexus

Your post is kind of contradictory. You say they wont fix it for free. That suggests that YES they will fix it, but not for free. Which makes total sense, since you physically broke the phone yourself. That's not covered under warranty.
But then you go on to say they told you to talk to Rogers. Your post is very confusing.
Rogers is a carrier. If you have some sort of damage plan or replacement coverage they may help you. Otherwise, at best, they're just going to send it Samsung in the first place. More likely, they won't touch it.
Your options are to try to repair it yourself, try a local shop, or try Samsung again. I seriously doubt that they wouldn't repair it, for $$$.
Or get a 3rd party warranty. Although, that would be pretty unethical and possibly illegal, filing a claim for damage that occurred before you signed up for the plan.

I am in the same boat buy I gave my phone to a local cell phone repair shop in toronto. its been two months and they still are looking around for the replacement part. I think i am gonna take the phone back and just try to sell it off

Well , other phones have this so i think we should too! I like reading other peoples thoughts on when ics is gonna be released even if its a random guess. i think by the end of this month is my estimate.

hey, I'm not here to start anything, I wasted $200 on this thing because it's just not right for my usage. I have to restart it several times a day because it locks up, the stock browser is a joke, I'm forced to use Dolphin which I hate to access my company portal (hey, I didn't use Safari on my iPhone, but Safari did work for that) It won't ring, I never get notifications of text messages or voicemail, I drive over 200 miles a day so having music to listen to is important, and I had to dust off my old iPod for that, I had the TomTom app on my iPhone and since I travel out of my service area regularly I cant trust the navigation that came with the Samsung because it constantly loses GPS signal, so I had to buy a TomTom. I honestly thought my phone was broken so I took it back but the guy in the store said there was nothing wrong with my phone. I used to use Foursquare but the GPS is so off that every time I check in anywhere it says I'm too far away. Oh, and my battery only gives me about three hours off the charger.

Wow you're a ****. And I mean that with the most disgusted inflection that word allows for, jackass.
To the other guy; your phone is faulty. It just is. You're the consumer, you payed for a product that isn't delivering. You're going to need to whine and ***** about it, make it a big of enough deal; don't take no for an answer.
They're retail stores, switching out used devices isn't really their forte. (If you had a faulty iPhone you'd still need to make a big deal about it before getting it switched).
You have a great phone, trust me and everyone else here who knows phones. Yours is faulty; the Skyrocket is an incredibly powerful device.
So, I RMAed my Skyrocket due to the dreaded AMOLED blobs that Samsung can't seem to get rid of. Mine were somewhat OK when I originally got the phone, but 7mos later they're quite noticeable in some spots. In addition, the screen has that vertical "brushed metal" look to it that's also a pain in the ass.
I got my RMA on Monday, and it had the same damn problem. To top it off, it had a horizontal line on it. However, it didn't have the "brushed metal" effect as bad as my original. Instead, it had what looked like little dust clouds on it.
Naturally, I was pissed. I called AT&T once more, got another RMA (priority shipping included for free!), and got it this morning. Now, it has more spots, a faint brushed metal effect, but no giant blobs or dust clouds. On a more interesting note, the DSLR picked this up as being amber and not green.
So, should I try rolling the RMA dice again, or just going with #3?
EDIT: Got replacement #3 today. It has the same problem, and it's worse than the others! I'm beginning to wonder if this is all pointless.
EDIT 2: Replacement #4 arrived. Same crap, different phone. Not only that, I learned that I have essentially maxed out my AT&T warranty after 4 RMAs. Gotta love that. Going to try Samsung in the morning.
EDIT 3: Replacement #5 has been sitting on my desk for 15 days and I just bothered looking at it. Same problem, getting it DOAed again.
I'm not even bothering with uploading a photo.
EDIT 4: Finally had time for Replacement #6. It doesn't look TOO bad, so I'm thinking that I'll probably go with it. Thoughts, anyone?

Currently on the phone with AT&T setting up RMA 3. Apparently I've reached the limit on open RMAs, so the CSR is seeing what she can do about it.
LOL.
Got the 3rd replacement today. Lo and behold, it has the same problem! To top it off, it's worse than replacement 2! Calling AT&T again to get another.
It's an ongoing issue with the display. Remember the devices they are sending you are not new they are refurbished.
You can get a brand new SR and it will have blobs on it, just pick the best one and keep it.

It's an ongoing issue with the display. Remember the devices they are sending you are not new they are refurbished.
You can get a brand new SR and it will have blobs on it, just pick the best one and keep it.

The AMOLED screens have a defect, presumably due to the mass-production of the screens. They get darkened "blobs" at low ambient and backlight levels. They have a tendency to grow. Thus, I'm trying to find the best one I can.
In other news, I got replacement #4 today! It has the same problem. Not only that, 4 open RMAs seems to temporarily lock AT&T's warranty system, and now I have to interface directly with Samsung. Lovely.
God, I hate this kind of crap Samsung lets happen to their devices.
Just looked at Replacement #6. It seems to look OK, so I'll probably go with it.
Thoughts, anyone?

Ask for a new phone. It is unacceptable that a customer on a contract would be dissatisfied for that long.

mine has two very small ones on it but i can only see it if i use voodoo display and turn the filter way down.

I had to RMA 2 of them, the third one started randomly rebooting itself during calls. I got a hold of warranty replacement and explained to them that this was the third one, and I was not happy, of course they offered to send me a replacement S2 Skyrocket, and I told them NO, I wanted something else. They of course couldn't / wouldn't do it.
They sent me on to a different version of customer service and explained to them everything that happened and I told them that I would not accept another one due to the failure rate. They offered me a new phone, told me I couldn't have an iPhone or Note, but any of their other phones was acceptable. I asked for a garnet red GS III. 24 hours later I had a brand new GS III sitting on my desk. I have not had ANY issues with the S III.
OH and side note, they let me keep the GS II Skyrocket instead of sending it back in. I sent it in to Samsung and they sent me a brand new one back, and so far not a single issue with it either, however it just sits on the desk at home waiting to be used. I decided to keep it as a back up in case the S III had an issue.

It's been an awkward week for the S4. Most people are satisfied but the locked bootloader seems to have twisted some people. I would still go to the store early just in-case cause once the bootloader is unlocked, expect this phone to really begin selling
I just called my local store. They still have them in stock. It is now 11:34.

My local store started selling them this morning. I was first in line and there were about 6 behind me. There was nobody there last Friday when the HTC One launched.

went to my local store in kalamazoo michigan. i got there at 8:45 thinking there would be a line. there was noone. and by the time i left only 2 other people came in and it seemed like they didnt get a gs4. the hype atleast in my town doesnt seem like much for the gs4 like it was the gs3.
No lines downtown Chicago. Got mine at ten and I was the only one there.

No lines at my store..I was the second person in and the first and only one (while I was there) to grab a S4. 3-4 people came in to pay their bills and one person came in because her Note 2 screen would not come on and/or function properly.
Did any of yalls stores have any information about the 32gb version?

Yea a lot of people are probably holding off until the bootloader is unlocked but 6 people right out of the gate is not bad, your area will probably be out by tomorrow
Im at Costco right now. System wide ATT activation outage in red bold font on their screens. They called ATT sales, but they said they cant do activations over the phone either. I already paid for the phone, but its sitting at the wireless booth until ATT goes live again. Costcos food court pizza use to be better btw

I got mine on Westnedge yesterday. millions will be sold... but the hype will never reach iphone levels... not that it doesnt deserve it. But Apple just handles its releases better, with all the weird delays and changes in carrier releases, the west main store said they didnt have it and that westnedge shouldnt have sold it to me yesterday.
closest store to where I live is just an authorized retailer. they only had 4 in stock and opened at 10am. pulled up at 940, there were 3 ppl outside waiting for the 4. luckiest day ever, I would've had to drive 40mins to get one otherwise. like 10-12ppl showed up while I was getting my purchase all done, asking if they had any in stock. poor guy in front of me though, had to pay cash cuz he had to pay a deposit.... transaction almost done, and then the girl behind the counter says that she can't hold it for him while he runs to the ATM. I felt bad, if I'd had ANY cash on me, I would've given it to him so he could get it, but I didn't.

I doubt most people even know or care about the bootloader.
You have to remember, we are the 1% who keep track of this stuff. Most people change the wallpaper and maybe add a few widgets..

You're probably right but I mean heck I come across a quite a few people who ask me about rooting whenever they see my phones so there's definitely interest. Again though you're right, most of them had no idea how to root lol

I think it's a lack of advertising before launch, I didn't see commercials for this phone like I saw for S3 last year. In fact I saw no commercials for the S4 lol
