Tapping problem XDA II, screen doesn't respond to stylus

I have had my XDA II for two months and since my last synch I find I am now tapping with the stylus in vain on my screen to enter the system. The screen is in perfect condiition but now does not respond. When I pressed the record or camera buttons on the side the programs load but I can't select anything because the screen does not respond to any stylus taps.
I did a hard reset and now I can't get past the first screen that says please tap here to continue.
Has anybody experienced this problem and can they suggest a way forward for me to get it resolved ASAP as a I am going to Spain tomorrow with an XDA II which is not responding to stylus taps.
Sounds like a hardware fault if you have tried a hard reset.
no response
I now know what the problem was.
I put on a new screen protector. And for some reason the XDA cannot sense any taps on the screen from the stylus.
I removed the screen protector and it works fine.
However the XDA did work with the last screen protector that I put on, so I do not know why it doesn´t with the new ones.

I have been using screen protectors from various manufaturers, each time I had to re-calibrate the screen (for that reason) but has never come across situation as described above

Tapping problem
hello mate
The reason for your stylus not to work with the screen protector is because you have the edge of the protector toching the sides od the xda.....make sure you have a very small gap between them.
You didnt mention the screen protector in your first post, I had the same with a protector on an ipaq that was slightly oversize and touched the very edges, no taps worked either until I removed the protector.

Screen is crap

On the desire s it is easy to get scratches on the screen and I have a keep one. I thought that the screen was gorrila glass??

i haven't noticed any problems with mine. I even dropped it on concrete which managed to chip the aluminium on the back but left the screen intact. The only time i can see scratches are when it's under direct light and those are still hard to see. Also, i do not use a screen protector.
It's clearly not a rubbish screen or this forum would be flooded with more posts saying the same
Buy a screen protector they're named like that for a reason

I obviously have got one now.

I hat screen protectors, but the screen seems to be adequate; I dont get any scratch and carry the phone in my pocket without any kind of protection (just try to no mix up with coins and keys).
When compared side to side, the screen is also somewhat dimmer and the Nexus S (S-LCD version, not amoled). Colors are also less vivid, but that may be software related.
Viewing angles might and black levels not be the best, but the brightness and colours are great. I'd hardly say the screen is crap. Also, pretty sure it is Gorilla glass but I'm not going to try and find out.
Compare it to x10 mini and you an se that diference...

i am pretty sure that the screen is gorilla glass
who told you that gorilla glass cant be scratched?it is scratch resistant not scratch proof
a small grain of sand can scratch the screen easily
that is why it is always better to get a screen protector as soon as you get the device
DS has for sure gorilla glass. but you can see some small hair0like scratches when the screen is off. i use protective membranes
I tried on x10 mini foil from Brando. They are 110% quality. But after an hour goes to bin :-D
I havent any scratch on screen. Desire s detto.
I noticed a scratch today, only had it several days.

HTC One S Cracked Screen

Ok, so I barely cracked my screen today and the screen won't turn on. The key buttons still show a light when I unlock and lock, but nothing shows on the screen.
I was hoping it would be like this

I'd say you have to buy a new screen from ebay.

This is an issue with the LCD. In this device the LCD is fused to the touch screen digitizer (outer glass)
You will need to replace this fused LCD+touch screen digitizer to fix this issue and we have the parts, tools, and guides available and ready to ship.

How long would it take to ship it to Belgium?

I had this same problem too. I was... expressing my disapproval of the outcome of last Sunday's championship game... and the screen cracked slightly. I figured I destroyed it, so I ordered a replacement. I just replaced the screen and digitizer, reassembled it, and the problem persists. The phone will turn on, make noise, vibrate, etc, but no image. What else could I have damaged that would still blank out a new screen? The home/back/menu keys light up fine.
Thanks for the help!

[Q] Pen & Touch

I'm thinking about buying the Note but I can't find an answer to this.
Can you use touch and the pen at the same time?
For example, if I touch the screen and hold a button in an app. Can I then draw a line on the screen while still pressing my finger down?
Doesn't really work because Samsung has built in palm rejection so if the pen is really close to or touching the screen it disables touch from your fingers.

Cracked screen

Hey,
Today I dropped my nexus 5, and its screen was cracked at the top right corner. The touch screen works fine, I think that just the outer glass is injured.
So I noticed that in call, my screen won't get on. I read online that it might be because the proximity sensor. Now, is it possible that he got hurt in the fall? Or is it just because the screen over the sensor is cracked?
If I replace the screen, will it be OK?
And if not, where can I find a replacement sensor?
Thanks!

Cracking the screen directly in front of the sensor will make the sensor think something is close. However, this doesn't mean the sensor is working. Take it in for a professional opinion
