Ok, so I barely cracked my screen today and the screen won't turn on. The key buttons still show a light when I unlock and lock, but nothing shows on the screen.
I was hoping it would be like this

I'd say you have to buy a new screen from ebay.

This is an issue with the LCD. In this device the LCD is fused to the touch screen digitizer (outer glass)
You will need to replace this fused LCD+touch screen digitizer to fix this issue and we have the parts, tools, and guides available and ready to ship.

How long would it take to ship it to Belgium?

I had this same problem too. I was... expressing my disapproval of the outcome of last Sunday's championship game... and the screen cracked slightly. I figured I destroyed it, so I ordered a replacement. I just replaced the screen and digitizer, reassembled it, and the problem persists. The phone will turn on, make noise, vibrate, etc, but no image. What else could I have damaged that would still blank out a new screen? The home/back/menu keys light up fine.
Thanks for the help!

So I finally replaced my cracked screen and I've been having issues with my new digitizer. It's one of the LG digitizers, not the ones that say T-Mobile at the top. When you touch the extreme left side of the screen, it acts like you're touching the extreme right side of the screen at the same time. It's very weird - when I try to capitalize, it also backspaces, and my a's all have l's after them - stuff like that. It's like that all the way from the top of the screen to the bottom.
I got in there and cleaned a couple of specks of dust that I had accidentally left between the digitizer and LCD screen and it didn't seem to help. I used compressed air to clean the contact where the digitizer ribbon cable connects to the motherboard and tried to get the ribbon cable itself to sit under the motherboard nice and straight (I had a little trouble with it the first time and it could have been crooked, I guess, but I'm not sure if that would even matter.) I've also tried soft reboots, removing the battery, full wipes, and even have experimented with a few different ROMs. Acts exactly the same.
What do you guys think? Do I have a bad digitizer or is there something else I could try to get it to work properly? Thanks!
I buy broken phones of Craigslist and fix them. I have put digitizers on 4 g2x as of yet never had that problem. I'd make sure the connections were nice clean and seated correctly. I see you've done that so my conclusion is that you have a faulty unit. Run a calibration app and see if that helps

I had bought a digitizer with the LG logo on it and it was not as senseative to the touch and as well when touching the left or right sides of it where off a little. I used the ones with the T Moble logo and all works like new.

Hi, my screen cracked, so I got a replacement digitizer and installed it. When I reassembled the phone, it worked fine, except the buttons at the bottom (home, back, etc.) and the bottom 15% of the touch screen do not register. The rest of the touch screen works fine.
Do you know if that part is connected differently from the rest of the phone? Or any other reason it might be broken.
This may be dumb on my part, but my package didn't come with adhesive, so I used superglue. Could that be messing up the sensor somewhere? Or is it not likely that?
Any thoughts/comments would be greatly appreciated.
You probably got some glue in the wrong place. I used 3M double sided adhesive, that way I could be exact with the placement

Hah what he said.
You should never use glue of any sort on electronics. If the manufacturers don't do it, then you surely shouldn't.
and how much trouble would it be to install one? Only the outer glass I know.

I got one, it went in all right, but was a pita to get the oldscreen off. Its pretty much glued on, has an adhesive gasket, and requires breaking the old screen to pieces separateto . The new screen never came with the outer seal, but i haven't had any issues yet. Its been in about two months.
I wouldn't trust eBay for a screw driver

I replaced my screen and the LCD. They are pretty tightly glued together but my glass was fine, it was the LED that was shot. I didn't watch the video but I can give you some of my experience. I got the replacement from China. It came with magic marker blocking out the 2 logos. It was on the plastic covering and there they were when I removed it. I didn't watch the YouTube I was watching past the point where he said press anywhere its broken anyway. The next sentence was "except here". I can tell you if press there you will hear an 8.95 snap. Its the power strip to the lighted home buttons. So I put the screen on and waited for it to arrive. I also got some 2mm double-sided tape this time. I knew to get it really hot also, even though I hadn't really pressed it home. I looked at the speaker hole and though that would be a good place to grab- DON'T. It snapped off the top part of the replacement screen. I thought oh well I might as well plug it up before I trash it. I lucked up and it didn't get into the LCD-YET. I'm using it now and there is one crack in the glass but a perfect picture. So, buy 2 or 3mm tape, do not press on lower right side where you see copper. Get it hot and then get it hotter- hairdryer. Take your time and remember the connectors. You understand that what you had a link to is just the outer glass and if the LED isn't broken you'll have an interesting time separating the two.
Oh, I put electrical tape where the top glass broke and its underneath the top of the plastic protector I bought. You'd have to be looking for it to notice. Sometimes you're the squirrel, sometimes the nut.
Good Luck

Well I failed at replacing the screen.....the digitizer cracked wen trying to separate the screen from it and yes I heated the screen to where it literally burned my finger...haha.....so now I'm stuck with a replacement screen I have no use for and had to shell out another $150 for the digitizer. I shudve just done that in the first place.

Sell it on eBay 20 bucks cheaper.

So my g2x front screen glass was broken. Replaced it with a new one and after reassembly and powering the phone on, its responding to all my touches but the screen is very distorted. It looks like a 90's crt tv going crazy, with the noise on the screen if you know what I mean.
Any ideas? Or did I just seat the digitizer wrong or the ribbon on the screen is off by a pin or two?
Try resetting the connections. If it's still like that it's a low quality digitizer and I would try to return it.

If the digitizer is responding fine then make sure there is nothing pushing against the LCD (anything between the LCD and digitizer) and the connections are seated correctly.

Thanks for the replies. I cant find the rubber seperator thing could that be the problem? I looked at the LCD and nothing is in between it and the digitizer but it appears to be loose. All connections are seated correctly.
If the LCD was being pushed from the backside thats metal would that be a problem?

If the LCD is being pushed it shouldn't be a problem. If a piece of metal was touching the digitizer, then you'd have interference which would cause ghost touches and poor accuracy.

Okay so I took it apart and reassembled it like 5 times and I'm getting frustrated.
Basically the issue is the screen is all wonky after I power it up. The picture was perfect with the old digitizer that was cracked and had water damage, how is this possible? But when I plug everything in I get the wonky picture.
So is it my LCD or the digitizer?
By the way all touch functionality works 100% so whats the deal... because the LCD was working before with the broken digitizer that had no touch working lol.
You could try to unplug the digitizer and see if the picture becomes normal. If so, it is the digitizer.

It seems then either bad LCD or connector, or even hardware... IMHO you need another phone to further rule out any possibilities.

i didn't know that this whole thing would be so difficult so i have ordered only the glass
http://i.imgur.com/SB2LRRO.jpg
I have opened the phone until the touch
http://i.imgur.com/GTniJqk.jpg
i tried removing the glass properly for one hour but i coudn't do it, so i breaked the glass and twrow it away
http://i.imgur.com/RvjGhEJ.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/jkOG3Lb.jpg
is the touch damaged? if not, what should be my next step? remove the black plastic?
That glass you ordered is a touch screen (digitizer) itself. You broke LCD. Turn the phone on (obviously you can do it without TS) and see the damage for yourself. But most probably LCD now needs to be replaced as well.
btw, I think you have overlooked some clips or disassembling points as LCD is generally prone to damage, therefore no force should be used when working around it. It's also possible that for taking out digiter you need one of these (similiarly as for iPhones/iPods)
It also looks like the connecting flexi strip on the bottom right corner is compleatly recked and torn. (3rd pic)
Best of luck, but those pics look like disaster to me.
Edit - the more I look at those pics the more it looks like u need a new mobo...

hi guys, so i bought a replacement screen, am yet to receive it. It looks very neat, only problem is that its got a scratched area on the top side. My question is, is it possible that scratched area will show when the screen is on? Also how can i hide that scratched area from showing when the phone is on sleep mode i.e when screen is turned off? I have attached a photo of the LCD
Thats a pretty bad scratch... Yes it will show while the screen is on, off.
Put a sticker over it? Sometimes screen protectors will make scratches look a little better..

Yeah I don't think there's a whole lot you can do about that one, it's a real doozie.

Did the seller show you that before purchasing? That's a big area, looks like sandpaper was used to clean screen. I would have returned for another screen or a refund.
