I got a new(used) motherboard from ebay and swapped it out but now the lcd is blank. The backlight works, but no display. The tablet vibrates and reacts to the power button correctly. The ebay board did arrive with the dipswtich set to off, i've looked over the copper traces on the ribbon for breaks with a magnifing glass, but it looks good. Any ideas what this could be? I'm going to get grab a micro hdmi cable tomorrow

Drivers are irrelevant - do you see a USB device, and what is the vendor/device ID?

I noticed that recently, the phone will charge via USB but will show up as an unrecognized device. No option to activate "mass storage" to connect like it asked before. Tried both with/without Debug mode. Also tried to *#7284# USB PDA->Modem->PDA like i've read somewhere. Didn't fix the issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

not the lid, theres tabs within the usb slot on the phone that u have to fiddle with, if thats what u did then maybe u need a repair shop unless its still under warranty

Yeah sorry, I think that I used the wrong term. English being my second language, I some times mix up some terms.
Inside the usb assembly, there is the connector with the 5 pins. Pretty much nothing else is there. I lifted the whole connector to make it vertically centered.
Would the issue be coming from a badly soldered connector?

I have just come back from a 2 week journey and my phone no longer is recognized by my pc.
I've uninstalled the USB drivers and reinstalled.
I've tried on multiple USB ports
I've tried multiple cables
I've tried multiple PC's
And of course I've rebooted everything multiple times.
I am on CleanRom 6.0R2
During the trip the the car charger cable got a yank while attached to the phone and ruined the connector on the charger. I replaced the charger with no issues. The phone will charge fine with usb cable attached to my PC. Is there any chance the usb connector on the phone got damaged? Anything else to try?
Thanks for your help.

It is possible it is damaged. Only other thing I know is to hook to USB then boot into download mode while it is connected. Had to do on Win 8 couple of times. It will try to refresh drivers from phone side.

I know it is a silly question, but I never used Odin to root to begin with, so I've never been in download mode. I know to use Volume Down + Home + Power button to get into download mode. But what will happen after this without Odin on the PC?

Nothing. But it may try to load drivers to pc. I have got my usb ports to work doing that on Win 8. Phone has drivers also but that is how you force it to push to PC. Make sure usb debugging is on also before going to download mode. Worth a shot.

It's already done what it gonna do if anything. Hold down power button for about 20 seconds it should reboot. If not pull batter and then reboot.

Wow. That actually worked - PC recognizes the phone now. I must admit that I was very skeptical - but desperate to try anything. Thanks a million.

Hello everyone,
A couple of weeks ago my USB data connection on my OnePlus One has stopped working.
This means that no connection is even detected on any computer.
This is not a driver issue as the computer doesn't even notice anything has plugged in.
I think it's not a software/ROM issue because the same applies to fastboot mode and recovery mode - no data connection, no "usb plugged in" sound on any computer, no device showing up.
It's also not a cable issue, as the same cable works on other OnePlus One's and I've tried many different known-to-be-working cables.
More facts:
1) When plugging to a computer USB port - the battery icon shows the charging (lightning) symbol for a half a second and disappears and it won't charge. The computer, of course, doesn't see a usb device plugged.
2) When connecting to an AC charger - it charges just fine.
3) I already tried replacing the dock connector and flat cable unit with a new one - did not solve the issue, which means the dock connector is fine.
Any insight on this will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

By dock connector, you mean the USB port? Typically, this issue arises when the pins in the USB port get damaged. I don't know how the rest works out, but if that particular section of pins have to communicate throughout the rest of the motherboard, perhaps the trail responsible for that may have somehow gotten damaged. This is a clueless theory, someone with more electrical/motherboard experience can verify this.
What I do know is that once the micro USB port has been replaced on the phone, the issue should be fixed. It happened to an S3 I still have and I got it replaced by a friend. Sadly, it happened to me at the wrong time since i had wiped the entire OS and internal storage and was relying on my USB OTG cable and a flash drive which contained a rare rom called Sonic Open Kang Project (SOKP).
DO NOTE that this has also been an issue with me on the software side of certain devices. I uave had practically every flagship device out there and have come across a point where this happens on both stock and custom roms. My Optimus G did it on custom roms, and my Nexus 7 2012 occasionally on stock. There were other devices I cannot remember but sometimes factory resets or replacing the rom helps. However, you did state that the result is still the same on fastboot/recovery, so this seems to be more on the hardware side.
I replaced the USB connector (including it's flex cable) entirely. Did not solve the issue.
What else could be wrong?
try again

I tried a lot of different computers and cables. None of them detect a USB connection.
Again, to clarify - they don't even SEE a usb device has been plugged in.
recovery?

You running a custom recovery? If so, see if you can toggle the mtp on/off reboot with each back to recovery. Use the tools to check the filesystem, permissions, etc.
Could pins have damaged?
Well, I did replace the USB connector with a new one, so if pins are damaged it's gotta be on the motherboard side, and I can think of no reason why that would ever happen.
As for recovery, I'm running TWRP and I'm not sure I understand what you meant I should try. Can you elaborate?
Thanks
When I connect my n5 using data cable, it only goes into charging mode & doesn't even detect the cable attached.!
Same thing in TWRP recovery mode.:crying:
can this be resolved by replacing the back panel chip which houses the charging port?
Have you tried connecting it with a different cable?

when ur phone is on try swiping down notification bar and change the usb attach mode to MTP from charging or refer to my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/noob-friendly-instruction-ur-pc-t3345512
Thank you for suggestions guys..
But I think the port may be fried since it heats up like crazy within seconds of plugging to charge though the charging doesn't work.
I am thinking of replacing the port along the flex cable.
Anyone has idea how much it costs Mumbai, India.???
A local shop said 1150/- rupee in my local area...
Yup that's the cost when I asked also! In Pune!
Recently had to get my S8+ changed through insurance and now every time i plug it into my win10 PC it isn't recognized. it will charge from the PC but will not display in the my computer section as a device. I've tried a new cable various USB ports turned on USB debugging and downloading drivers. ive also downloaded the smart switch app to PC but it doesn't recognize it either.

Have you tried to change the the "usb mtp" from notification area?
Change it to "File Transfer" or "Picture" to force PC connection.

Sounds like you're using a power-only cable. Might try other USB cables, especially the one the phone came with.

Could also be the PC is not recognizing as a USB device. I forget how to get Win10 to start looking for USB devices again, but recommend you Google variants of "windows 10 does not recognize my USB device". (Shortest: "windows 10" and USB and autodetect")
I fixed this once, forget how.

Of coarse I am going to ask all the same obvious stuff So you have tried different cables have you tried to make sure there is no trach in the usb type c ends? Also try booting to safe mode and a factory reset of coarse back up with sammy cloud first it does good about restoring most stuff.....
Only other things is drivers again and try other usb ports as well as a different PC.
My be defective device also
By chance does anything come up in device manager?

That could also be if the S8+ has its USB setting to be (for example) Power only.
