Yup guys you can change your system animations:thumbup: via this app u am not the developer I just support this app and would like to share this one with you guys
Description:
This app will make Theming your phone as easy as tapping on a button. The concept is easy:
You tap the MOD you want, and Framework Tool will apply it for you. Currently there are about 40 functions, such as animations, dialogs, backgrounds and other aspects of your phones or tablets system, but it is in beta state, and more will be added in the next hours, days, weeks, months. Now it is your turn! Take control of your phone and make it fit to your mood and style, use hot features as the possibility to use your own backgrounds (in the Settings application as an example) for the system (3.0+), with just a few taps, and no computer required! This application needs ROOT ACCESS and R/W on /system ! This App can now run on versions below 4.0, BUT all modifications are designed for Android 4.0, so they may not work as intended on versions below that!
Warning: Framework Tool does change framework files which may not be compatible on some ROMs or devices. Always make a backup before installing and use at your own risk.
Here's the Link

No it just changes system animations it must have happened if you have chosen a heavy animation on a mid end device
Well I don't think the Gnex is a mid end device... And the only change I made is activity switching to ios sliding.

Bad luck then try applying animations again or instead try a reboot I have always used it on a fresh flash so it was never the case for me
I advice you to use it on a new flash...
You can also set the speed for animations using Framework Tool, in case you they are to slow for you. On start screen open menu and then you will see.
Thanks for yor responses guys.
I don't mean the animation is slow, I mean it takes a lot of time (3 or 4 seconds) to start the animation. Once started, it goes smooth.
This happens only sometimes. I'm trying to figure if this issue is ROM related (pa 3.1). I'm going back to aokp and try again.
Thanks!!

Technically, android waits for the app you touched to draw the first image, then animates to it.
Another thing: You are on Android 4.2 right? Then the changes Framework Tool applies to the framework (in the aspect of app start animation) are "ignored".
The only impact on performance is if you change the "standard background", if it is very high-res, if will definatly have an impact on performance.
Sincerely,
Janis Elfert (dev of Framework Tool)
PS: As always, if you like my app, make sure to rate it!

New thread further down the list! SWEET!
I got this tablet for school, trying to go paperless. I came from TF-101, now my wife's, so I know how things work. My question is, what is the best most stable Rom for this device? I like customizable roms but stability is a must. Any ideas out there?
I tired Omega but had problems connecting to my schools wifi, we have to use a third party app to connect, went back to stock and no problems.
Also, whats the best keyboard and word document for this bad # machine?
pbaldw10
Unfortunately there is no specific one rom.. U will have to try a few roms and see what fits the best.
Omega rom has been the best for me, but very slow with updates..
Keyboard - best is the default one but lacks spell check.( there is a mod available in this forum) . I use swiftkey for typing and default for handwriting..
Word document -i like officesuite pro but Many like polaris , etc are good too

Im starting to think just leave well enough alone. I love it so far and each day I find something new. Tried Omega and collection v6. Stock seems to be the best so far.
Any ideas on dock able keyboards and can I use a mouse with this. Im thinking full laptop replacement.
S- pen is nice, but sometimes you just have to type.
Ps
Odin is awesome, its like flahing roms and restoring is completely encouraged.
A word app you might want to give a try is CloudOn, a free app that is as close as makes no difference a full MS word and Excel for your tablet. It's not perfect and it lags a bit (at least here in Europe, maybe it's because it's webbased and the servers are in the US) but it has the advantages that all equations, tables, pi pictures, figures and so on you have in your document is displayed properly.

try redemption rom :good:
First off congratulations on the note 10.1 !. Personally I would stick with stock, maybe root it, debloat it and enjoy. There are a lot of great roms out there but there are a lot that suffer from weird quirks and glitches, Also I would advise against using any custom kernels or overclocking as they have a tenancy of causing crashes in my experience

I'll second CloudOn, and also second the lagging. If you need to do some serious work in Excel, I don't thing it can be beat. Else you can usually find me in Google docs for first stays of papers, notes and things like that.
As for keyboards, I picked up a Microsoft wedge bluetooth keyboard and couldn't be happier. I found a new in box item on eBay for $45 shipped, in stores I think they are closer to the 60-70 range.

+1 to Papyrus.
As I just got this tablet a few days ago, still undecided whether I want to keep it or not, the smaller development kinda surprised me.
If you're using it to replace paper for school, you're best off with a rooted stock rom so you can do multiwindow everything but keep everything stable. Also, lecture notes + dropbox => golden notes.

You missed my first post, "the best rom is already on it".
Correct. The standard firmware is very stable.
I use lecturenotes to take handwritten notes it also allows you (with the extra plugins) to record the audio while you make your notes. You can even record the audio plus a video of the notes so you can play it back after.
Another small recommendation, if you like mind maps simpleminds is great.

Hi all!
I recently acquired a new SG4 9505.
I would like to make this thread a constructive suggestion to Dev's (god bless you all) for things that the users would like the custom roms to contain or directions to go in.
I came from a SG2 running Checkrom stom rom; so getting used to the 4.2.2 droid o/s.
If anyone would like to contribute suggestions that enhance the phone but also enhance privacy as well, then please suggest using bullet points like mine below, that way others can see your points you suggest quickly
Before the custom roms start coming out suggestions are:
clean stock rom - ie the removal of bloatware and other files that clearly are not useful or are carrier based
cooked into all custom roms a privacy and ad blocker - self explanatory.
change default internet servers that roms use to gather data. - ie use of servers that provide anonymous data/google search engine results (e.g startpage.com etc). There are many other services like this, its a concept of clean data to the end-user, the less tracking the better is what i am getting at.
To read more about why i ask for this read here, and here, here, here.
Thanks again!
I'd like to have a kernel with the ability to control CPU-Voltage. No, I'm not an overclocker but rather want to optimize battery usage.
ALexander
I'd like to have Touchwiz 5x6
Things I want:
Touchwiz 4x5-5x6
NFC with lockscreen
Better flash support and html5
Remove the smart stay icon from statusbar while activated

So can anyone comment on any 9505 rom they have flashed recently?

MOD EDIT: DO NOT FLASH THE FILE IN THAT ARTICLE, IT IS FOR INTERNATIONAL S3 ONLY!
I can't wait to see what the ROM devs do with this!
Includes some of the non hardware based goodies that the S4 has.
" New features include a familiar array of lock screen widgets and unlock effects, new display modes, a re-tooled quick settings area in the notification pull-down, a new driving mode and an updated version of the S Voice assistant app. Some of the headline Galaxy S4 features like "Air view" hover-touch abilities aren't included -- that's because they're dependent on the S4's internal hardware."

While AOSP is more cutting edge, I like simple functions like Bluetooth volume working correctly as it does on TW.

I'm saying ktoonz does have a tw version of his kernel if that's what you prefer. You could try using the ViPER4Android app and mess with the settings to clean that up. Just wanted to point you in the right direction to fix your Bluetooth issue either through ktoonz's touchwiz kernel, fauxsound app, or ViPER4Android app. You may need to tweak the settings a bit to your liking as i don't know how severe your issue is. Could be the phone hardware, a software issue, a rom issue, or the Bluetooth headset itself causing it. It's not something that's easy to troubleshoot online. Sorry if i lost you, I'm a bit sleep deprived. Sorry if I was vague or rude. On that note, bedtime. Hope you get your issue resolved.

I've never had the Bluetooth issue with a TW ROM, only AOSP.
Thank you for the insight though. Get some rest.
So once the International version gets the official update, we can probably expect to see it 3 or 4 months later thanks to Verizon.

I wish Verizon would leak more updates. Other phones I have had in the past had new roms almost every week. The Galaxy S3 has been a big disappointment in factory updates, released hardware, and support. Once Samsung neglected to release a decent wireless charge option and Verizon cold shouldered its users, I don't think I'll go back to Samsung. I miss my HTC.

Hi everyone, I'm a newcomer to the note 10.1 and so far it has been great!
However owning a nexus S has made me quite the flashaholic.
So I decided to root my note, of course, but I am still debating on whether custom roms/kernels are worth it. I've looked around and many threads state that stock rom is the most stable, however they go back to 2012.
So my question is : Is it better to keep stock nowadays or is it worth it to go custom ( to get functionalities like multi - tasking for all apps , potential for better performance and battery life, etc... )? What do you think?

Ha, I'm tempted by the Hyperdrive ROM myself.
Using gloryrom with no problems
I tried Revolution and it was alright. Omega was really good but not updated frequently enough for me. I love Hyperdrive paired with his Zeus kernel and am just hoping it continues to get regular updates.
While stock is certainly the most stable, I always like to "clean house" every so often and try a new ROM. The bloat of the stock really is unbelievable and it's amazing how much speed can be squeezed out when scrapping all the parts that I don't really need. I also like that it forces me to look at alternatives that are often better than the stock Samsung applications. Ie, for serious note taking I tend to use lecture notes while I'll default to Quill for anything quick that I want synced automatically between devices ala S-Note style. It also means that I'm not tied to trying to install S-Note on any future devices that are not Samsung.
Still, it's really personal preference and how much time and energy you want to put into it. The developers out there really have put a lot of time and attention into the custom ROMs and regardless of my own preference, they should all be applauded for their hard work.

I think if you have a Nandroid backup you can try custom roms .
But not a great difference from stock .
jje
In my opinion sticking to stock ROM or any custom one depending on the stock is much better to have the multi window functionality and better Spen integration for gestures and so .... and for having multi window on stock ROM for all apps U just have to root and install multiwindow from the app store
Personally I stick with stock rooted. This is one device where the stock rom really doesn't need to be improved.
Cosmetic theming can be achieved through a third party launcher without sacrificing function....
Of course there's always those who try to improve , but that's because this is a developement forum....
