Custom 9505 Rom suggestions from users to Developers - Galaxy S 4 General

Hi all!
I recently acquired a new SG4 9505.
I would like to make this thread a constructive suggestion to Dev's (god bless you all) for things that the users would like the custom roms to contain or directions to go in.
I came from a SG2 running Checkrom stom rom; so getting used to the 4.2.2 droid o/s.
If anyone would like to contribute suggestions that enhance the phone but also enhance privacy as well, then please suggest using bullet points like mine below, that way others can see your points you suggest quickly
Before the custom roms start coming out suggestions are:
clean stock rom - ie the removal of bloatware and other files that clearly are not useful or are carrier based
cooked into all custom roms a privacy and ad blocker - self explanatory.
change default internet servers that roms use to gather data. - ie use of servers that provide anonymous data/google search engine results (e.g startpage.com etc). There are many other services like this, its a concept of clean data to the end-user, the less tracking the better is what i am getting at.
To read more about why i ask for this read here, and here, here, here.
Thanks again!

I'd like to have a kernel with the ability to control CPU-Voltage. No, I'm not an overclocker but rather want to optimize battery usage.
ALexander

I'd like to have Touchwiz 5x6

Things I want:
Touchwiz 4x5-5x6
NFC with lockscreen
Better flash support and html5
Remove the smart stay icon from statusbar while activated

CheckRom on Samsung Galaxy S2... Those were the days. I'd like a CheckRom for my SGS4 thank you very much.

Great suggestions! Keep em coming!

just a clean rom some thing that keeps sammy experience but with best battery life and speed
something like neat rom from the s2 if any one remembers its

NeatRomLite and VikingWay
Samsung Galaxy S4 + XDA Premium

Torch on lock screen, ink effect and camera flash at under 15% battery(though I've not tested to see if this is already possible on stock!)
Sasa is already looking to get an s4 for a neat Rom, just needs more donations!

If anyone has flashed their 9505 with good rom then please also add

So can anyone comment on any 9505 rom they have flashed recently?
Feel free to add suggestions you want in 9505 roms!

I've flashed the omega rom. It is very stable and everything works. Also i'm running the faux kernel. Pretty good combination.

I would kill for a Slim Bean for this phone. I absolutely loved it on my GS2

Adjustable auto brightness would be nice (like stock). Dreaming of Samsung camera software too. And I know, atm this is impossible and maybe always will.

Possible to port the jelly bean leak to our devices?

Hey just wondering if any one has given any thought to this, I know the leak is for the European, GSM variant but would it be possible to mix and match to make a Rom.i imagine not without the kernel but I figured did ask.

Read somewhere on here that the CM team is already working on CM10 for this device now that we have an unlockable boot loader.

Yes that is awesome, but I actually don't mind the Samsung overlay (highly modified and running nova of course), and there camera has really grown on me. I take allot of pics and while I like pro capture, LG camera and camera zoom fx, they never really seem to work like stock for me.

i was also wondering if we would get a port of the jellybean + touchwiz leaked update.
for some reason i like touchwiz a lot more then stock now.
Even AOSP Jellybean without Samsung enhancements would be interesting to try.
I'm not much into CyanogenMod (no offense to its many fans).

I like my s4

My name is Stijn I'm from Holland and this is my second Android phone. Before i bought my s4 I had a HTC desire. I had the desire for three years after it started to act up when getting hot. Found out this was a hardware defect and decided to buy the s4. I havev the i9505 with the snapdragon soc.
First of I was a bit disappointed about the smoothness of the phone. Animations where not all that smooth and I experienced lag using the phone in general. I was surprised however about the possibilities It presented out of the box. The video player for example has the option to play content on your smart tv . This worked great for me. I like the keyboard, the toggles in the drop down notification panel, and was not as bothered with touch wiz as I expected to be coming from CM on my desire. Also the watchon app that can act as a remote for your tv is cool.
So when opting for a custom rom I chose a stock based rom. Omega v3 was the one I went for.
It simple enough to flash when you follow instructions, but a bit of a hassle as you have to flash a stock firmware first. Lots to download!
Strait after flashing i noticed a big difference. Almost all lag was gone. Then I desided to flash a custom kernel. I went for fauxes as I used his kernel on my n7 and liked it.
After this I had the phone I wanted all along performance wise. No lag and blazing fast. Both the rom and kernel allow you a lot of tweak lots of stuff to make it act the way you want to. Worth mentioning is the app omega files that comes with the rom. It was updated yesterday and it gives you lots of freedom to change anything in the rom, from themes and mods to actual kernels that are compatible with the rom. Great stuff!
I also installed the 3 minit framework mod found in the android dev section. Man this app is great. It let's you change a lot of ui components on the fly with a well designed app that comes with the mod. Things like statusbar color, icons and many more are now under my control. And the dev is expanding the mod as we speak. You can make feature requests in the corresponding thread and they are implemented really quickly. Keep it UP Gharrington!
Also installed an app from the market wich allows for every app to be runned in multi Window mode. Nice.
I also bought the samsung mhl cable . It works great but the fact by our can't turn the screen of the phone of while it's displaying your android on the TV is annoying. Of course there is a root app that gives you this possibility. Yey to root.
Things I would like to test are miracast or allshare wireless screen mirroring and the dock with hdmi and usb ports.
Let me know what your experience is with your custom or stock rom and what you do with your phone.

Today: stock vs custom?

Hi everyone, I'm a newcomer to the note 10.1 and so far it has been great!
However owning a nexus S has made me quite the flashaholic.
So I decided to root my note, of course, but I am still debating on whether custom roms/kernels are worth it. I've looked around and many threads state that stock rom is the most stable, however they go back to 2012.
So my question is : Is it better to keep stock nowadays or is it worth it to go custom ( to get functionalities like multi - tasking for all apps , potential for better performance and battery life, etc... )? What do you think?

I've been wondering the same thing. I'm quite happy with stock so far (quite a departure from my Asus stock ROM, which were useless), and would definitely stick with tw-based ROMs.

yes I think it's best to stick with tW-based roms too . So decided to give it a go anyways. I'm trying Android Revolution and so far, so good!

Ha, I'm tempted by the Hyperdrive ROM myself.
Using gloryrom with no problems
I tried Revolution and it was alright. Omega was really good but not updated frequently enough for me. I love Hyperdrive paired with his Zeus kernel and am just hoping it continues to get regular updates.
While stock is certainly the most stable, I always like to "clean house" every so often and try a new ROM. The bloat of the stock really is unbelievable and it's amazing how much speed can be squeezed out when scrapping all the parts that I don't really need. I also like that it forces me to look at alternatives that are often better than the stock Samsung applications. Ie, for serious note taking I tend to use lecture notes while I'll default to Quill for anything quick that I want synced automatically between devices ala S-Note style. It also means that I'm not tied to trying to install S-Note on any future devices that are not Samsung.
Still, it's really personal preference and how much time and energy you want to put into it. The developers out there really have put a lot of time and attention into the custom ROMs and regardless of my own preference, they should all be applauded for their hard work.

I think if you have a Nandroid backup you can try custom roms .
But not a great difference from stock .
jje
In my opinion sticking to stock ROM or any custom one depending on the stock is much better to have the multi window functionality and better Spen integration for gestures and so .... and for having multi window on stock ROM for all apps U just have to root and install multiwindow from the app store
Personally I stick with stock rooted. This is one device where the stock rom really doesn't need to be improved.
Cosmetic theming can be achieved through a third party launcher without sacrificing function....
Of course there's always those who try to improve , but that's because this is a developement forum....

[Q] Tired of all the black...

I'm getting tired of blacked out everything......dialer, sms, settings, backgrounds for everything etc....
I recently bought a windows tablet and love the colors, fonts, minimal clean look. I like the look of the new ios for iPhone(but I HATE Apple). Also, I really like the way google now is themed. I'm looking to make my phone look something like that. I'm really in to the modern, clean, minimalist look.
I feel like the answer is some sort of theme, but I can't find one that I like. That is where I am hoping someone can help. I am currently running nova prime on Liquid Smooth 3.0.
Any suggestions/recommendations?
Are you rooted and custom rom'd?

I've tried MIUI and thats too close to ios and I hate not having a app drawer......What I meant is I like the color combos they use. I really love running liquid, slim and other custom ROMS. I'm just looking for something a little brighter I guess. Thanks for the input though.
No biggie, I just thought I would ask. Surely there is someone else out there who would like the same thing.
Try Avatar ROM...its aosp but with miui theming abilities

Nope. Can't be done. The I9505 GS4 supports entirely different LTE bands than the GPE, the bootloader is different and the partitions are different as well. Plus, odin will not flash the PIT file you'd need to repartition it.
Your only option is to run a custom ROM based on the GPE ROM if you can.
The only way to run the stock, factory GPE ROM is to actually buy a GPE.

I'm running a very slightly modified Google edition rom and the user experience for what I want is absolutely brilliant. It's the "untouched" one from xda here.
I don't miss the air view etc and the ir blaster is working.
I'm hoping the 4.4 one will be of this standard! I've abandoned my nexus 4 for this entirely to be honest. I like the big sharp screen and sd card!

EDIT: I know it's not literally fully stock as the Touchwiz framework is there to enable the S-Cover, but it's a lot less boated than the full TW and is very close to stock
