Xoom Not Turning ON! Please Help! - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There !
I have been using motorola xoom from the past 1 Year now , but yesterday night the tablet turned off automatically!
i tried doing a soft reset by holding the power button and volume up button , but it does nothing!
and when i plug in the charger to charge , sometimes it shows the white light for a minute and then it turns off , but now the white light shows and when i try to switch on the device the light goes away but the display is black , i dont even see motorola logo.
the device has no problems while charging , i mean the led light turns green when the device is fully charged but it doesnt boot up!!!
I tried connecting hdmi n tried switching it on , no result , same black screen!!!
Please help

Try turning on and then plugging it on your PC, try using adb devices and fastboot devices, if your Xoom has a screen problem, but is booting finely, then you will see something, but actually if it doesn't work it may be a problem and I will try to help you

You say the screen is blank, but the PC recognized right? Try using any of the commands to see what happens. Probably your graphic card is broken or your screen, because as far as I can tell the system is alright, as your PC recognized it.

Xoom Black Screen

I have a Motorola Xoom that turns on but it only shows a black screen no Motorola logo or anything. I have tried the volume up and power button but that didn't work. The battery is dead now so I'm thinking of picking up a charger to see if I can get it working. Any ideas on what could be wrong. I think it was dropped at some point.

If you dropped it-> maybe a hardware issue like broken display-controller. If you boot into bootloader mode (from powered-down device, hold power + vol-down) and connect it to your computer (with fastboot set up), does fastboot devices show your xoom?

Yeah it showed some random letters when I plugged it in.

to clarify this: did your xoom show some random letters or did your command prompt show some random letters?
If your xoom worked correctly, this procedure would make the xoom show "Starting Fastboot protocol support" in addition to the Motorola Dual Core-Logo. >our command prompt/terminal on your computer should show your device's serial number (alphanumeric, like 359C338.....) followed by the word fastboot.
If your computer does show your devices serial number followed by the word fastboot while your xoom doesn't display anything (or just junk), that is a symptom of a hardware failure. I wouldn't try messing with it, instead just take it to your dealer... You should be able to flash the stock rom and/or erase your data using fastboot commands, though.

Hey Guys,
I flashed pawitp's new cm (left it lying since there was some cooking to be done ) when I came back to flash the gapps - the tab was just off. pressing the power button not a single buzz to indicate it turned on. i thought mb the power went out during flash (tho i was sure i was at 90% when starting flashing) so i attached the charger and tried again after 30 mins - no dice.
after a whole night charging no change - i tried the other options to boot it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861092) and charger and reset but it just wont turn on.
any ideas or off to acer with that thing?
edit:
no fastboot or anything works, when attached to any pc it won't be recognized - the tab is just off
thanks

I'll bet it's not off, but stuck in APX Mode. This requires a mainboard change from Acer. Same thing happened to Pawitp (see his OP).

You have all the indicators.
1. Black screen
2. Won't turn on
3. PC won't recognize it (have you checked device manager?)
Did you hold PWR for about 10 seconds, the release and hold it again? Any response?
The other possibility, is that is just plain died. On the 500/501, APX mode would be a black screen with a PWR light. But that was the 50x series. I'm not a pro on these 70x, and have most experience from the 50x, but Mate, it don't look good.

tried it not even a blink
opened a case witgh acer and i will send it in.
thanks though

can not boot

One day I went to use my tablet after a long time not using it. It was on the stock OS. And it stops at the Asus screen with the spinning circle I know sometimes this might take awhile so I let it sit for 24 hours and it still is there. I tried cold boot and reset to default and also the recovery image. With the recovery image I get a dead droid with a red ! above him. When I plug it into my computer I hear my computer detect it but I can't access it.
Guessing the OS is corrupted. Bring it back to stock again using easyflasher. You will lose all data by doing this.
You need to be in apx mode to use easyflasher. Press power and volume up for a few seconds and connect to PC. Your tablet should be recognized however the screen will stay black. Then you can use easyflasher. Good luck! Also, try to never allow the battery to go completely flat. If you will not be using it for a while power off.

it is not letting me go into apx mode. When I try turning it off it restarts and goes to the boot screen and freezes there. Is the recovery image on the SD card? I can get to the recovery so I might just put the stock zip on it and try it.
I just tried updating it and I keep getting the same dead droid and it keeps rebooting when I try to power it off so I cant enter apx
Try holding POWER and VOL UP and it should enter APX even if it isn't off first.
No matter what I try and how many times I try when I push the power button it just restarts. if I hold the Power and Volume up it restarts and sticks at the Asus screen. In the Device Manager for a description for the tablet it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
I had that error and it was a bad USB cable. My cable still worked with the stock charger, just not for USB (MTP/APX/ADB)
I do have 2 cables and last time I used then both did work so I know that is not a part of my problem.
You won't see anything in APX mode and may think the device is powered off. So connect it to your computer first, then try to go in APX. You should hear the computer detect the device.

I know how to get into apx mode. I have used it several times before but it will not let me. No matter what I try it keeps rebooting.

Does it still reboot when you try entering APX mode if the USB cable is disconnected from the tablet ?

yes it reboots if it is hooked to the computer or all by itself. If I try to enter apx by itself or hooked to the computer it still reboots.
If I can't get into apx does that mean that I have a brick?

Possibly, or your power / volume buttons aren't working properly / getting stuck pressed in
Might be worth taking it apart and disconnecting the battery for a while / checking buttons are working without the plastic bezel over the top of them
Check no cables have come loose causing weird behaviour

I opened it up cleaned the buttons unplugged the battery and looked for loose cables. Plugged the battery back in and rechecked for loose cables. I tried going into APX and that is a no go. I have not reassembled the unit back together yet.
So what should I do next?
I got it fixed!
I unplugged the battery plugged it back in, did a cold boot then enter apx mode

try to put it on charge by plug in to a normal electric socket and check the device reaction.
If you get positive reaction which means LED ON , or battery recharge etc then you are good to go in to the next level which means...
Plug your device in to your PC/laptop. If it gets again with "not recognizing" try different USB port.
If all the ports showing you the same problem, try to find another cable. If you get again the same problem try to find another PC to test if there is recognizable.
these are the first steps you should so before i suggest you anything else. We have to make sure that your device is in a working state.

Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro (SK17i) stuck in Boot Loop, can't connect to PC

Hi,
I hope this is the right place for my help request.
I don't have any experience with rooting, unlocking or any of that stuff, but I have a bit of background in Android app development.
So I have been using this Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro (SK17i) for years, because it is small and has a hardware keyboard.
It has Android 4 installed with no modifications whatsoever.
A few days ago the battery went completly dry (0%) and the phone turned itself off. If I remember correctly I was using it to play music via bluetooth when it turned off.
After that (and a bit of charging plugged into the wall) I tried to turn it on again, but ever since it is stuck in this boot loop where it turns on, shows the basic white on black Sony logo for a few seconds, shows the animated Xperia logo for maybe a minute or so and then reboots!
I have no idea what actually caused this or how to fix it. I didn't use the phone for any modding/flashing/unlocking or stuff like that ever.
I can't even properly connect it to my PC (Windows 7 64-bit) anymore. The timeframe where it is turned on (during the Xperia logo) doesn't seem to be long enough for the drivers or PC Companion software to detect it.
Taking out the battery or SD card didn't change anything about the rebooting behavior.
The only thing I could do (after some research, I really have no idea about this stuff) was put it into this "fastboot" mode by holding volume+ down while plugging into the PC. Then front LED went blue and I could see the device listed after executing "fastboot devices".
But I don't seem to be able to do anything else with fastboot (like flashing a CWM recovery image, which I have no knowledge of either...) because the device is not rooted.
I have the Android SDK / Android Studio installed if that helps.
So any ideas about this situation?
I really want to keep using this phone, and I also have some important personal data on it that I don't want to lose.
Any help would be greatly apreciated!
Thank you.
Sorry for the double post!
Ok, so I have just read about this "recovery mode" thing, but I am unable to enter it!
According to most guides (like this: http://www.hardreset.info/devices/sony-ericsson/sony-ericsson-xperia-mini-pro-sk17i/recovery-mode/ ) I should turn the phone completly off, then hold volume down (-) and power on simultaneously until the device enters recovery mode. But it doesn't! It just keeps booting normally!
What should I do?
Thanks.

a few years later but I had to bring back to life my old Mini Pro.
To boot in Recovery Mode I've had to remove the SD card and it worked with Volume Down+Power key. With the card inserted it didn't work.
I LOVE this little keyboard!
Regards.
