[Q] Dead N8000....Any help please - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My N8000 was working normally on the latest official not rooted rom (N8000XXCMD1_N8000RBTCMD1_DBT) and all of a sudden on a normal restart it hang on the samsung screen & when i tried to put it in the downloading mode it gave me the following lines
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
i connected it to my laptop & the ODIN discovered it but when i tried to flash a rom it gave me an error related to the partition. Any idea how this can be solved please. my device is not under warranty & at the Samsung service center they said it needs to change the main board of the device...is it really that serious of there is a solution for that.
Thanks

Lacking information so just a guess.
You have a damaged PIT partition or Nand .
jje

Its a hard brick the only way to fix is to replace the motherboard which is costly
If u don't have warranty then you are in trouble . Gd luck

what might have caused such a hard brick.....the device wasn't even rooted

If you haven't rooted it or installed custom rom - RETURN IT UNDER WARRANTY... It will be fixed by Samsung at no cost to you... Screwing around now will get you into hot water and then you will need to pay $$$ to fix.... While under warranty, and still stock, return it...

unfotuantely it is not under warranty anymore....i have read somewhere that it can be fixed through flashing a .pit file through ODIN...is that right?

A bug on the firmware or a malware application you installed also a damaged software update can cause this
And sorry to inform you that in your situation only replacing the motherboard will fix the problem .

Keep reading around and trying different things, little effort and you should be able to get her going. Little pain in the ass though.

Unless you bought a refurb you should have standard 1 year warranty from Samsung...
The note 10.1 came out less than a year ago. You should have manufacturers warranty....

Yes I think ...

no vibration, no logo, no download mode, or even a light intecelemnte of hope.
It's stupid to say but damn do ****
I'll tell you what I did to you not reproduce this disaster
I was on an A4 and I flash a base A3
I met can not mount cache in the recovery
So I just try the PIT with odin 1.85 for the distribution
something I never do and ca displayed an error
I went back into recovery to try to format the cache
The procedure is blocked so I removed the battery
I tried a full KPE download mode
Odin gets stuck and does not start his work
The liver is the last I saw the logo download before removing the battery
maybe when you Try to flash KPE and you stuck at that time ODIN has not flash the bootimage to phone???
I do not touch the bootloader since I spend the first liver on KPE
The problem come mainly from a lack of instruction information between flash base A3 and A4
I therefore warns
Well check base which is important
If you are on an A4 and want to flash a A3 careful!

Yes, you are right?
one thing, i want to know, if bootloader is OK then phone can boot into download mod, or Hard Reset Button also work. ? but with you its dead. nothing on screen ?
yes no flash i think pit only and can't mount cache or format cache related
why did you flash pit? maybe the pit had screwed the partition ...and that, the system have failed to recognized thus rejected kpe when you try to flash via odin. so it got stuck there.. the partition is maybe had been screwed earlier by pit.. imo..
Man Your phone must be come revive and come back to life. Because Your Phone is the heart of SL community's ported Roms. Did go to samsung service centre ? what did they said ? And how much price is changing of motherboard ?

Go to your nearest Samsung Service Centre and you should tell them that:
"I am updating my phone using Samsung Kies, then suddenly Kies crashed at the flashing process.."
I think they will get your phone repaired for free, unless your phone is still covered by the warranty.

Is that true mate? Last time i remember that Samsung Service Center check the software as well, they count how many times you flash the phone.
If that was true, I'm going to back to GB from A4 with Bootloaders so i can hardbrick my phone, wait....my phone warranty is already dead :silly:

[Q] Should I root my phone now??

I know you will laugh after reading this post. But I have to ask this question
I have more 2months of warranty on my ace plus. Should I root my phone now or after warranty finished?? I'm in confusion. I have rooted my galaxy y after the warranty finished. Rooting means no warranty further, so little bit worry working on me. I can handle any type of problem related to software or by help of XDA-developpers. But if after some days of rooting my phone's hardware starts problematic then what..

i had the same situation... but when i did i had like 1.5 years of warranty
Well I would say you should root when you want because 3 months after rooting i had a battery problem.
I even had a custom rom in it that works perfectly (cm10.1 by TheWhisp) but i knew they would see this so i did the easiest thing: flashed my stock firmware.
sent to my local service and i got a new battery
i think they can see what i did but they will not spend their time testing our phones...
i have 5 more months of warranty and how i said if it starts being problematic just flash the stock firmware with odin and you will have the phone like you had when you bought it, i think they do the same thing if you send it to a service so just be careful what you do
if you only want to root it i bet you will have no problems, even it will work better.( that's why i did )
so my answer is Yes! you should do
yes u can...
well if u want to use custom roms & all other mods,
you have to root ur device which u may also know
& yup root mean void warranty but if u face any problem just reflash stock rom which mean u r in warranty period not a single sign of rooting when u flash stock firmware

[Q] [HELP] Boot loop. Need help regarding PIT file

Hi all.
My note (GT-N8000 16GB version) stuck in boot loop and i can't access recovery mode, only download mode available. I'm doing some research regarding this and found that maybe the solution is by installing PIT file. I found pit file for my device in here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41158546#post41158546
I know that installing wrong PIT file will bricked my device for real. So before I'm doing some flashing I want to ask some question here for confirmation:
1. Did the Russian pit file on above link work to all GT-N8000 16GB in every region? my region is XSE
2. How to install the PIT file? I read somewhere that I need to load it along with stock 4.0.4 ROM from my region and then tick repartition check box. Is that the correct way?
Please help. I'm noob here. I really need some guidance. thanks
I am having the same issue. Why will a PIT file will stop the bootloop?
My Tablet charges and charges while it remains in a loop between srarting and recovery....back and forth. It never boots to Andriod and never enters recovery. Like you I can use the start and volume up key to enter download mode but it does not download anything through Odin or Flasher. Any help will be a ggodsend.
Thanks Anybody.......I have be working on it for a month. I am out of ideas.

A51 Bootlooping and Freezing - Any ideas?

Hello,
So I have an international A51 model and have had it for over a year. Recently, it froze while using the browser and now continually bootloops. When I'm able to enter the OS, it freezes up again. I've tried clearing the cache, doing a factory reset, and even tried to flash the original firmware via ODIN. When I'm able to boot in now, it takes me to set up and tells me there was an unauthorized factory reset attempt. Usually freezes up shortly thereafter.
Any advice would be appreciated.

First time I tried to change CSC from country of origin to my own. It said success but phone was still bootlooping. Second time I used the original firmware and CSC and had the same result
It's hard bricked if you cannot do anything even after flashing official firmware.

Is there anything Samsung can do or am I just out of luck entirely?
Interesting thread, seems like hardware problem(the EMMC internal storage chip is failing.)
Do you still have warranty?

Samsung can but I think you would have to pay if you don't have warranty which is not even a guarantee since warranty doesn't cover user modifications.
Take it to some unofficial store and you may end up paying less.
So Samsung's policy here is a 2 year warranty for Australian models, 1 year for international warranty. My model is from the UAE and so my warranty has ended. They've told me they will try to fix it but can take between 1 - 6 days up to 6 weeks depending on the issue. I'll follow that up.
If they're able to fix it I'll update this thread with the issue as to maybe help someone else. Thanks for your contributions.
