I'm developer of GMD SPen Control - application that allows to create custom SPen gestures:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34085846
I developed it on Note 1, but I expect it to work on Note 10.1 too. Please try:
1) does it work?
2) Please do calibration in 'Development' tab and email me calibration values from Help->Email Developer->Report bug
Root required.
Thank you.
Yes it does work! Awesome! You're one developer whoreally shows people the amazing possibilities of android phone
Emailed you the calibration

Love the app, you really have brought the s-pen to life!! But I notice I cannot install apk's with it running, the dialog shows, the install button is not disabled, but I cannot click it. If I disable the app I can install just fine.

I would like to see actions with just a press of the s-pen button. For example, I would like to be able to change pen colors while writing by simply pressing the s-pen button rather than having to open the pen menu.

On my Note 10.1 (JB 4.1.1, German stock rom, rooted), there is a strange bug which I could track down to SPen Control after three factory resets.
I noticed suddenly, that it was no longer possible to install .apk from outside the Play Store. The effect is/was, that when trying to install an apk from system level, the message about the already existing apk pops up (if existing) and afterwards the window showing the permission requests of the app.
There, as long as SPen Control is active, the "install" button does not accept input. The "cancel" button instead works as well as the arrows inside that window to open/close detailed views of the requested permissions.
As soon as SPen Control is terminated (stop service and exit), the button works again.
So, this is a workaround (before manually installing an app, exit SPen Control), but nevertheless, that should be fixed.

This was fixed. Please update the application.
1.1.1:
- Fixed: Samsung screenshot gesture working when disabled.
- Fixed: Install button would not work when installing from file system.
Fix was successful, my problem is solved. Thanks for an excellent implementation and the quick support.
awesome app!
But i wonder... would it be possible to Start the Service when you unplug the pen and stop the Service when you plug the pen back?

_If_ this is implemented, please make it optional. I have a second external pen (with clip and eraser) which I use and the internal one remains in place.
That's why I do not use the "power saver" feature to enable the digitizer only in case of a removed pen.

I'm investigating it and if possible I will add option for it. This only make sense if I can start application with this event. If I need to run service for it to work then it does not have any meaning, because application is "sleeping" when there are now events. Or in developers terms, thread is in "waiting" state and it does not consume cpu time.
I developed other application Gesture Control for touch gestures and despite there are more touch events that SPen events, applicatio never appears in battery stats on my devices. I don't think you will notice any battery decrease with SPen Control too.
ah sorry my fault. wrong Word!
i dont really care about the Service it's more the app in the Status bar thats annoying me!
And the Note 10.1 does Support app Start when you unplug the Pen. altough you cant choose your own app.
(But somehow its broken for me now.... maybe because i flashed another Kernel or other stuff.)
Great app! +1
I bought the application and works really well but it would be very useful (and easier) to create custom gesture by drawing them, like G for google or F for facebook for example.
Just tried this with Paranoid Android and works. Sweet now you can have SPen and not be on stock based roms. Awesome!!!

I'm working on graphical gestures. I have all engine ready, recording and recognition. Just need to finish settings activity and decide how to combine old gestures and new gestures. If I add graphical gestures, do you think it is ok to remove old path based gestures completely?
Hello everybody.
I want to use a gameboy emulator full screen to avoid touching home and back buttons when I am playing.
Anybody knows how to hide system bar on this rom and tablet?
I saw this mod and will be great something like that on our Note 10.1.
Thank you
I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol&hl=de
Works like a charm. You can also let the app de-/activate the system bar in specific apps.

It works pretty well.
Thanks
greetings fellow XDA members.
need some professional help regarding the tabs' systemui.
i personally hate the system bar at the bottom, it takes up space which isnt really needed.
most of us would definitely accidentally pressed the buttons there while playing some games.
so what i usually do is to hide the system bar via honeybar.
problem is, no back home nor menu buttons. so i used an overlay. worked pretty well and soon enough i graduated to using GMD gesture control[awesome app]
now i have no system bar + freestyle gesture controls tailored to my own style.
the new problem is that since hiding the system bar simply kills systemui, i am unable to receive any notifications except toasts from su etc and using notification apps just doesnt work seamlessly like the systemui.
is there anyway to hide/kill system bar without killing the notification?
or better, is it at all possible to have a regular non tab status bar [aka top statusbar + pulldown notification] for our tab?
i apologize for being long winded, just trying to be detailed.
any help is appreciated. googling it gave diff answers not relating to tabs so im at a lost.
Only workable way I found was to
decompile framework-res.apk, track down dimens.xml and edit "status_bar_height" and "navigation_bar_height" = 0, depending on what dpi you use, I use 213 and that shows a combined bottom bar.
Its important to mention that since the combinedbar thinks its still there a transparent area still occupy the space when ex. in any dialogs that uses dimming you´ll see a area without dim, so esthetically all 3 backgroundDimAmount´s should be also set to 0 in /values/styles.xml.
Still any apps you open, will open in fullscreen and occupy entire screen..
There is a challenge if you dissable GMD, making it very difficult to return or manouver, unless I find a way to add back or home to the powermenu in CM9, which I haven´t yet..
This stops polluting catlog with systemui crashes every darn minute, wich bordered me from the beginning..
If you have ideas I am all ears
cheers!
thanks for the reply.
im a newbie when it comes to edting xml files, heck im not even sure how to decomompile the framework-res.apk but i'll tinker around for a lil bit and see what comes out of edting the files.
if its similar to editing xml files from within an apk, then i guess im safe since ive tinkered with an xml file that granted apps permission to save data to ext sd. thats a start i guess.
youve basically given me something to work with.
will get back here if i have any further queries or run into any problems with your stated workaround.

My framework is way to heavy slimmed for your likings, but I could rather make a specific one for your current os.
PS. there is some preparations:
1. you will need to setup GMD and assign home, back, show notifications and so on..(activate GMD notification icon (optional))
2. just in case, make important shortcuts on home to apps drawer, open notification, so on if GMD stops working
3. make a restore CMW package of current framework-res and SystemUI, you might change your mind
I have not mentioned this, but sometimes GMD will be unresponsive when waking up the device (worst case 20-30sec), therefore it is wise to have some sort of backup shortcuts of some kind if you can´t wait for it to restart..
(future focus : adding home or back to the powermenu if GMD would be switched off.)
If you are rooted and running the lastest CM10 (from Aorth) or CM10.1 rom, you can use the expanded desktop option:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1u2c_s1QaI
Not sure about getting notifications, will have to try that out later...
Since you're using GMD gesture control, why not set it to disable the notification bar on some apps, but leave it open for others? You could, for example, run "fullscreen" in everything but your home screen if you wished, and just go there periodically for notifications. I also found that if you make a custom gesture to show notifications, it will both reactivate the notification bar and then pop the notifications out. You can use that gesture and then re-hide the bar manually.

As you say, he dosen´t show if notifications work, I will asume this still kills systemui in the background...

I experienced instability, it also consumes more battery when systemui is killed like this, and my logs got polluted with crash reports more or less every minute, therefore I looked for a solution to preserve both..
Hi all,
Introudcing my request for someone to implement a no-nav bar mod, either via Xposed or through any other way.
In order to maximise screen estate, I would use pie-related apps in order to emulate the nav bar buttons.
Thanks a lot.

There are many many ways out there, you can find them by doing a simple search
But persionally I prefer GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys ★ root for this matter,
or you can try this app (might need xposed) to do the job:
[APP][4.0+]Ultimate Dynamic Navbar
good luck

I agree, and I am using Xposed with GMD Gesture Control to replace it. For whatever it's worth, when I used auto hide soft keys, the green phone button on the dialer disappeared. Switched to Xposed method and haven't looked back.
Expanded desktop mode via gravity box
Just add this line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" without the quotes in system/build.prop using a text editor.Reboot your phone and voila...no navbar. Before removing the navbar install LMT launcher or any other alternative. And for the dial button problem in phone app just install APP SETTINGS xposed module and set the Contacts dpi to 305 and everything will be perfect.

You can use an app over on the play store known as "SystemUI Tuner" and you can toggle immersive mode fully, nav bar only (which is what you're looking for), and status bar only. You can do that after giving permissions via ADB or root access grant, if possible.
Forgot to add a screenshot of the app, you could plausibly use it at your will. I don't know if it will work since i don't have oreo myself but i believe it has support for it.

nova launcher has an option hide the nav bar, that's if you use nova of course.
I had a similar problem and nova fixed it.

Just tested it right now. The nav bar does pop out when you're using the keyboard and when you have the notification panel dropped down.
Did someone found a way to hide the navbar while the keyboard or notification panel is present? Well annoying this is!
